Tabbing through PDF Forms on iPad

I have a stupid question.
I've built a bunch of forms in Acrobat Pro XI, and the company I work for provides everyone with iPads for ease of use.  heh.
Our people are using external keyboards for the iPad to fill out these forms and I've been told that the Tab Key on the keyboard does NOT tab through the field.  Instead they have to use the Next button on the on-screen keyboard.
Is there a way to get around this?  They are using Adobe Reader on their iPads.
I do have an iPad, however, I don't have an external keyboard for it - so I can't troubleshoot this.
Thanks for any help.  Oh how I loathe this stupid trend.

ZAGG make a Great KeyBoad Case combination for your iPad. Its slightly miniturized Full sized keyboad it’s a Bluethooh keyboard.  And it actually has the same feel as a Standard Laptop keyboard. It doesn't feel like a Chicklet keyboard. I have one for my iPad. The case is made out of Kevlar.  The key board uses any unversal Power brick that uses a standard USB connector at the brick ined and the micro USB in key board end. I bought the case for mine along with iPad just after the iPad3 came out I have yet to recharge the keyboard.

  • Tabbing through a form with multiple pages!!!!! FIX!!

Hi everyone, I have a fix for this tricky issue of tabbing through a form that has multiple pages.
    1. You'll need to go to the "master page" and add as many pages as you have "body pages".
    2. Click the Object Veiw Tab and set the Occurence of the page to Max 1 and click the box with the instruction Include In Page Numbering.
    3. Do this for each page of the form that you have.
    4. The tabbing now should move from the 1st to 2nd to however many pages you have Master and Body Pages for.
Glad I could figure this out! Goodluck!

Thanks for the reply. Since my post to this topic I discovered some things about tabbing. With out adding another master page but just keeping the one and making sure that it's occurance is set to a minimum of one and including master page in the numbering it will work as long as the order of fields in the hierarchy tab matches the order in the position of the fields.
I have a subForm that has a row of fields starting with a button then several text fields. I couldn't tab to the next page because the button was at the bottom of the hierarchy and it wasn't until I moved it to the top that I could finally tab to the next field on the next page. I also discovered that with a one page dynamic interactive form that has some expand able text fields in it and when the field expands so that any fields are pushed to a new second page tabbing seems to not work. In other words when I tab out of that field that is suppose to expand and a new page is added to the form the tabbing quits and in order for it to resume I have to click in a field and from then on it work even if it gets to where a third page and so forth is added. It is just when a one page (in my case) form turns into multiple pages for the first time.
    Hope that makes sense.

  • PDF Forms on Ipad

I have created a PDF form using Adobe X Pro. The form works fine, I open it on an Ipad using the new reader and fill out the form, works perfect.
My issues is that I am trying to email the document with all the information that was input but I need it to be flattened somehow. I am basically trying to turn the form into a regular pdf file when emailed.
I thought of a "print to PDF" but none of the software does that. When I try to open it in another document, it opens as a regular PDF with no forms and no information (an empty form document, not form). Any idea how I can acomplish this?
    Thanks,
    Watt

Well, I figured it out after buying half of the apps on Itunes...
There is not a true Airprinter to PDF, which would be the simplest answer however if you have this issue, PDF Expert will allow you to flatten a form prior to emailing it, which works for me.
    Hope this helps.

  • Cannot read filled-out pdf form on iPad

    Hello,
I completed and saved a pdf form and can view it on my MacBook Pro (OS 10.7.5), but when I open it on the iPad, the form is blank and I can't see any of the filled-out data.  After searching online for solutions, I went into Acrobat Pro 9.5.5 > Advanced, but PDF Optimizer is grayed out and I don't find info on how to activate it.  Any help would be appreciated!

If Adobe did I would recommend Acrobat.
ReaderISO work okay but nothing with any javascript or ability work with forms
Currently Reader is just that it allows your look at some PDF's
That is the only PDF Application that allows full java script and Forms fillout.

  • Can't open pdf form on iPad

I can open the pdf form on my laptop just fine, but when I try to open it on my iPad running iOS 6.1.2 and Adobe Reader 10.5.0, I get this error "If this mesage is not eventually replaced by the proper contents of the doc, your pdf viewer may not be able to display this type of document." I did notice that when I open the pdf on my laptop, it pops up a note explaining what to enter for a particular field. Can the Reader iOS version not handle these pop-up notes on forms? Is this being worked on? Thanks.

I only know what's been said on the forums. I suspect that there will be support for static XFA forms in the future, though it seems like a lot of work for little return. I would be surprised if dynamic XFA forms are ever supported as it would be much more work, but the return may be greater. I hope that more support for JavaScript with Acroforms comes first.

  • Fill out pdf form on iPad?

A friend has asked me to find out whether it's possible to fill out and sign a pdf form on an iPad. I don't have a stylus, so I have no way to test it. Does anyone know?

Adobe Reader will let you read and fill out form fields on the iPad. You can add a signature with it as well. You can highlight, annotate, rename files, and create folders. It's a pretty nice pdf app and it is free!

  • Need help filling out pdf forms on iPad

Adobe Reader (11.0.1) on my iPad2 (iOS 6.1.3) is not letting me fill out a form (just a bunch of text fields) that was created with Acrobat 8 Pro/LiveCycle. The form can be filled out fine with Reader 11.x on my WinXP desktop though. Any ideas?

No, you'll be just the same.
You need to not use LiveCycle Designer, but make the form in Adobe Acrobat. Everything you know about making forms in LiveCycle Designer will not help you at all.
These are a different kind of form, made differently, and with different features (e.g. they are always static in layout).
Also, you start with an existing PDF (not a form) for all the background and fixed text, then just add fields.
There are other things to do like avoid JavaScript. Start with very simple forms and test features, there doesn't seem to be a comprehensive list.

I was trying to upload a doc file using the PDF form. I could not make the upload functionality work.

    Hi,
I will try to find the standard function module. If there is no such standard function module, then we need to create a custom function module.
    Check this link:
    Points that you can note:
    1) Adobe Interactive forms can be created & connected to SAP database using ABAP Workbench, through WebDynpro.
    2) Also adobe Interactive forms can be created & connected to SAP database using Transaction SFP.
    3) And for both of the above 'Adobe Live cycle Designer' should be installed on the front end.

  • How do I change the bahavior when I tab in a form? When I tab it moved down - I want it to go to the right.

I want to tab through a form in firefox from left to right. When I tab it tabs down. I am on a Max OS X. When I use Safari it works from left to right.

    See http://kb.mozillazine.org/accessibility.tabfocus
Note: In OS X (as of 2005-01), if this preference is not explicitly set, the “Full Keyboard Access” setting in System Preferences will be honored. All builds before that date (e.g., Firefox 1.0.x) will ignore that setting.
This pref doesn't exist by default, so if you want to use it instead of the system settings then you need to create a new Integer pref with the name accessibility.tabfocus and set the value to what you want (7 is to tab through all the fields).

  • In creating a fillable PDF in XI Pro, can I insert a table which can be tabbed through?

In creating a fillable PDF in XI Pro, can I insert a table which can be tabbed through?

You're in luck. Create the first field and then right-click it (in Form Edit mode) and select Create Multiple Copies. You'll be able to specify how many copies of the fields to generate, and at what intervals. The nice thing is that although the properties of the new fields will be identical to the source one, they'll each have a unique name, so you'll get an instant "table" of fields.

  • Issue tabbing through form fields on Adobe Reader 9.2

Hello everyone.  I am having an issue that I am hoping someone can assist me with.  We are currently using IE6 and Reader 5.5 in our production environment and we are currently testing IE8 and Adobe Reader 9.2 for deployment.  Our company uses a web portal where we have many pdf forms that open within a web browser. The problem we are experiencing is that when tabbing through fields on the pdf, the cursor will eventually cycle down to the end of the form and then start cycling through to the top of the browser (toolbars, address bar, search bar, etc) before finally returning to the pdf document's fields.  Is there either a setting in the reader or maybe even IE which controls this functionality and will limit the tabbing to only the pdf form?  Or does anyone know of a method of limiting the tabbing functionality to only work within the pdf document itself when opened within a browser?
Any help on this is greatly appreciated.  I have looked through all the reader preferences and do not see anything directly related to this.  Thank you very much in advance.

I guess by QTP you mean HP Functional Testing 11. This is really something to take up with HP, it's the job of monitor software not to crash.

  • "Text Boxes" (comments) in my form are included in "tabbing" through fields while filling in a form

I have included several text boxes (not text fields) in my form. They are adjacent to the fields that are being filled in and serve various comment functions that I do not want in the printed form at the end.
If the user "tabs" through the fields to enter data in the next field the 'text boxes' (comments) are included in the tab stops... I can not see where to turn that off. I want the tab order key to ignore the comment fields - the text boxes. They are not even listed in the tab order menu.
Also - is there a way a field that shows up multiple times in a form (duplicate field) can be skipped by the tabbing through IF it aleady has data in it?

I'm not aware of any app that will translate the form fields from Word to the iPad. My guess is that you're going to have to recreate the forms on the iPad.  The best app that I've found for doing this is FormConnect http://http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/formconnect/id432653695?mt=8&ls=1. It's a very simple app for creating check boxes and text fields.

  • Completed PDF form showing blank on iPad/iPhone

A few months back I asked for some help making some functionality on a PDF form work.  Here is the link to that post: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/783271?tstart=0  I used a "read only" button/JavaScript to make the forms based on the help in the above post.  I discovered this weekend that the forms show up blank when viewed on an iPad or iPhone after they have been filled in and "locked" through the JavaScript button.  I did some quick Internet searches and found that completed Acrobat/Adobe forms have known issues displaying on the Apple iOS.  So based on this information, am I correct in my assumptions?  (I know my completed forms are not viewing correctly.)  Also, is there any fix for this issue?  Is there a workaround?  Am I just making my forms incorrectly?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I was going to just let it go and forget the iOS problem but I decided I would post here and see if anyone has some advice.
    Thanks

The problem is indeed the PDF viewer used in the iPhone does not support PDF forms. It is not related to how you created the form.
You can approach the problem in tow ways. Either use a PDF viewer on the iPhone/iPad that does support forms, or flattent the form before distributing it. The former approach may not be feasible, and the latter approach cannot work unless the person preparing the document has at least Acrobat Standard. Reader cannot flatten a form.

  • How to connect a PDF form to SQL server database through web service?

    Hi,
I'm new to LiveCycle designer. I have designed a PDF form in LC designer ES2, which suppose to take a personnel number and retrieve the personnel information from a SQL server database. Currently its working fine with XML data and a search button, but I need to securly connect to a database through web service. I know how to connect to a wsdl file through designer. What I need is a wsdl file to connect the form to database. For this purpose, is there any WSDL code to use as the web service?
