Table call statisitcs:  ROWS AFFECTED ?

Hello,
the table call statistics (ST10) provides one column with the number of rows affected. This is the number of rows that have been read from the database. But the size of a row among tables are different. One row can have a size of 120Kb in one table or 5 Kb in another table.
So how is it to understand? What does it mean in KBytes if one row of a table is affected?
Thx, holger

Hi Holger,
Unfortunately, this list output be ST10 is not oriented towards the Size of the call. The program RSTABL11 prints this list.
One way to achieve this may be to copy the program RSTABL11 to suit your reporting requirements, such as getting the table row lengths and multiplying the rows with these lenghts.
This new program can then be called independently. Look at how the RSTABL11 is submitted in SAPMST10.
Hope this helps,
Bhanu

    I am using SQL Server 2000 as the database.
    The row is getting inserted correctly in the table. There is one trigger on this table which seems to give this error.
    The trigger calls a .dll which connects to some other program using the Sockets.
    The functionality seems to be working fine but we get the above mentioned error in the log.
    Can anyone help me regarding this.

  • How to count no of rows affected by a ref cursor ?

    Hi,
    I have taken a ref cursor inside the function since I want to return resultset to the calling application. I also need the NO. OF ROWS AFFECTED by the ref cursor. When I used refcur%rowcount, it returned me 0. Whereas actual no. of rows inside the table is 11.
    As a workaround I created a integer variable v_rcount and again executed the cursor's query using count() to store the no. of rows affected by the cursor query. See definition 1 and 2 :
    How can I get no. of rows affected by the ref cursor without taking additional variable ??? Any other means available ???

  • Issues in Table with Multi-Row Insert

    I have created a master detail screens using jheadstart on 2 separate pages, Master in the Form layout and detail in the Table Layout with multi-row insert, update and delete flags ON. Have set the New Rows count = 2.
    Issue 1
    If I try to delete any existing rows, it gives error for new rows saying value is required for the mandatory fields. It should just ignore the new rows if I have not updated any values for any attributes in the those row(As it does for non Master-Detail Table layout). I guess this might be happening because the jheadstart code is setting the foreign key for new rows the detail, but not resetting the status of the rows back to INITIALIZED.
    I also noticed that the create() of underlying EO is getting called for those blank rows when I click on 'Save' button, even if I have not changed any data in those rows.
    Issue 2
    When I try to select the new rows also for deletion, I am getting a '500 Internal Server Error' with following stack trace... This is also happening for normal (non Master-Detail) Table layout.
    java.lang.IllegalStateException: AdfFacesContext was already released or had never been attached.     at oracle.adf.view.faces.context.AdfFacesContext.release(AdfFacesContext.java:342)     at oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.webapp.AdfFacesFilterImpl.doFilter(AdfFacesFilterImpl.java:253)     at oracle.adf.view.faces.webapp.AdfFacesFilter.doFilter(AdfFacesFilter.java:87)
    Issue 3
    I have put some validation code in the validate() method in the MyEntityImpl.java class.
    The validate method seems tobe getting called lots of times, in my case 20 times, where the new rows are just 2.
    Environment:
    Jdeveloper 10.1.3, JHeadStart 10.1.3 build 78, Windows XP
    thanks

    Thanks for the reply.
    Issue 1:
    What I have observed that in case of multi-row select enabled tables, the blank rows do not have any data. This is because the EO's create() method is called only when we post the data using 'Save' button. Thus the Foreign Keys are also not setup. This is a correct behavior since create() and FK setups etc should get done only if the user has inputted any value in the new rows and thus intend to insert new data into the table.
    I am able to find the exact cause of this issue. It is happening because in the details table, I have a column which needs tobe shown as checkbox. Since we can only bind checkbox to an Boolean attribute in VO, I have created a transient attribute of type Boolean, which basically calls the getter/setter of actual attribute doing the String "Y"/"N" to true/false conversion. Here is code for the transient attribute getter/setter
    public Boolean getDisplayOnWebBoolean() {
    return "Y".equals(getDisplayOnWeb()) ? Boolean.TRUE : Boolean.FALSE;
    public void setDisplayOnWebBoolean(Boolean value) {
    if(Boolean.TRUE.equals(value))
    setDisplayOnWeb("Y");
    else
    setDisplayOnWeb("N");
    Now when I click on the "Save" button, the setter for the boolean field is getting called with the value = false and this is resulting into the row being maked as dirty and thus the validation for the required attributes is getting executed and failing.
    Issue 2:
    Confirmed that correct filter-mapping entries are present in the web.xml.
    Now when I select the new blank rows for deletion and click save, following exception is thrown:
    java.lang.ClassCastException: oracle.jheadstart.controller.jsf.bean.NewTableRowBean at oracle.jheadstart.controller.jsf.bean.JhsCollectionModel.getRowsToRemove(JhsCollectionModel.java:412) at oracle.jheadstart.controller.jsf.bean.JhsCollectionModel.doModelUpdate(JhsCollectionModel.java:604) at oracle.jheadstart.controller.jsf.lifecycle.JhsPageLifecycle.processModelUpdaters(JhsPageLifecycle.java:541) at oracle.jheadstart.controller.jsf.lifecycle.JhsPageLifecycle.validateModelUpdates(JhsPageLifecycle.java:571)

  • Select on table with 1800 rows is slow

    I have a table with 1800 rows. Each entry has a geometry position and a geometry polygon around the position. I am using the polygon to detect which (other) entries are near the current entry.
    In the following testdata and the subsequent query, i am filtering on 625 (of 1865) rows, and then using the .STContains-method to finding other rows (the testdata is fully found by this query, in the live database the values are not so regular as in the testdata.
    The query take 6500 ms. In the live database, only 800 records are (yet) in the table, and it takes 2200 ms.
    select SlowQueryTable.id
    from SlowQueryTable
    inner join dbo.SlowQueryTable as SlowQueryTableSeen
    on SlowQueryTable.[box].STContains(SlowQueryTableSeen.position) = 1
    where SlowQueryTable.userId = 2
    (The query in the live system is even more complex, but this is main part of it and even simplified as it is just takes too long).
    This script generates test data and runs the query:
    -- The number table is just needed to generate test data
    CREATE TABLE [dbo].[numbers](
    [number] [int] NOT NULL
    go
    declare @t table (number int)

    ALTER INDEX [SlowQueryTable_box] ON [dbo].SlowQueryTable
    REBUILD;
    go
    SET STATISTICS IO ON
    SET STATSTICS TIME ON
    -- this is finally the query. it takes about 6500 ms
    select SlowQueryTable.id
    into #t1
    from SlowQueryTable
    inner join dbo.SlowQueryTable as SlowQueryTableSeen
    on SlowQueryTable.[box].STContains(SlowQueryTableSeen.position) = 1
    --on SlowQueryTable.position.STDistance(SlowQueryTableSeen.position) < 5
    where SlowQueryTable.userId = 2
    drop table #t1
    drop table SlowQueryTable
    drop table numbers
    Using an explicit index hint does do the job, but then the query gets slow if i change the where clause:
    select SlowQueryTable.id
    into #t1
    from SlowQueryTable
    with (index([SlowQueryTable_box]))
    inner join dbo.SlowQueryTable as SlowQueryTableSeen
    on SlowQueryTable.[box].STContains(SlowQueryTableSeen.position) = 1
    where SlowQueryTable.userId = 2
    leads to 600ms, and changing the where clause
    where SlowQueryTable.id = 100
    slows it again down to 1200ms.  Filtering on ID get massively slowed down when using index hint on the spatial index.
    Since the table in the live system will grow to 10000+ rows, and the query is called often by users, I badly need a more efficient query.
    Do I have to create a different queries for each use-case, some with index hints and some without?

    I've run your example and can confirm your results. There's a couple of things that I noticed though.
    After looking at query plans, it's not a matter of "with spatial index" vs. "without spatial index". You have two spatial indexes, one on each column (position and box). When you don't hint the "box" spatial index, the query
    uses the "position" spatial index. Because of what they are indexing (points vs. polygons), the "box" spatial index requires a lot more IO. With some (non-spatial) predicates, the "box" spatial index gives better performance,
    with others the "position" one does. I've yet to figure out exactly why (short on time, I might get back to it in future), but you can examine query plans and use the spatial index diagnostic procs (e.g. sp_help_spatial_geometry_index_xml ) in
    addition to the diagnostics you're running to see why and if you can find a better performing plan/index.
    Bear this in mind. Given a choice of multiple spatial indexes, the SQL Server query optimizer is not able to choose (for the most part, IO etc. aside), which one is best. Also, there is usually only one choice of spatial query plan shape, in general. If
    your query is more complex than the one in your example, you might benefit by breaking it in two: one query to filter out all the rows and predicates that don't use a spatial index and one query that uses the spatial index on the subset. I've had good
    luck with this other situations with complex queries involving spatial predicates. This method may not be applicable to a spatial query as simple as the one in your example, however.
    Hope this helps, Bob

  • Import the table with 0 rows

    Hi
    I have a problem to import a dump that contains the tables with 0 rows.
    When i exported from ORACLE 11.2 64 bit on SERVER 2008 i noticed that log didn't confirm the tables with 0 rows.
    When i want to import to ORACLE 11.2 64 bit on other SERVER 2008 i have a lot of errors on this tables with 0 rows.
    In the log i get the same tables with 1 row at least, but no one with 0 rows.
    I open my dump in TEXTPAD and i see it contains "CREATE ....." these tables.
    I don't understand why it happens. I used FUll DUMP by SYS, it didn't help.
    This is not first time when i export and import dumps,no errors.
    I'm using command "EXP" and "IMP" and every time it's ok.(IF it's a releavent)
    Why it happens? any solutions for this issue?
    Thanks

    I've found (i guess so) solution to this issue
    here are two links to this new feature that is called deffered segment creation
    The reason for this behavior is 11.2 new feature ‘Deferred Segment Creation‘ – the creation of a table sent is deferred until the first row is inserted.
    As a result, empty tables are not listed in dba_segments and are not exported by exp utility
    http://www.nativeread.com/2010/04/09/11gr2-empty-tables-skipped-by-export-deferred-segment-creation/
    http://antognini.ch/2010/10/deferred-segment-creation-as-of-11-2-0-2/
    And this is i've found in official documentation from oracle
    Beginning in Oracle Database 11g Release 2, when creating a non-partitioned heap-organized table in a locally managed tablespace, table segment creation is deferred until the first row is inserted. In addition, creation of segments is deferred for any LOB columns of the table, any indexes created implicitly as part of table creation, and any indexes subsequently explicitly created on the table.The advantages of this space allocation method are the following:A significant amount of disk space can be saved for applications that create hundreds or thousands of tables upon installation, many of which might never be populated.Application installation time is reduced.There is a small performance penalty when the first row is inserted, because the new segment must be created at that time.
    To enable deferred segment creation, compatibility must be set to '11.2.0' or higher. You can disable deferred segment creation by setting the initialization parameter DEFERRED_SEGMENT_CREATION to FALSE. The new clauses SEGMENT CREATION DEFERRED and SEGMENT CREATION IMMEDIATE are available for the CREATE TABLE statement. These clauses override the setting of the DEFERRED_SEGMENT_CREATION initialization parameter.
    +Note that when you create a table with deferred segment creation (the default), the new table appears in the _TABLES views, but no entry for it appears in the SEGMENTS views until you insert the first row. There is a new SEGMENTCREATED column in _TABLES, _INDEXES, and _LOBS that can be used to verify deferred segment creation+
    Note:
    The original Export utility does not export any table that was created with deferred segment creation and has not had a segment created for it. The most common way for a segment to be created is to store a row into the table, though other operations such as ALTER TABLE ALLOCATE EXTENTS will also create a segment. If a segment does exist for the table and the table is exported, the SEGMENT CREATION DEFERRED clause will not be included in the CREATE TABLE statement that is executed by the original Import utility.

  • Get the number of rows affected by update statement

    Hi
    I'm working on an application that uses OCI as interface against an Oracle database.
    I'm trying to find out how i can get the number of rows affected by a query executed with OCIStmtExecute. it is not a select query.
    Best regards,
    Benny Tordrup

    If I run a bulk UPDATE query using OCIBindArrayOfStruct, is there a way I can tell which+ rows successfully updated?
    I have a file of records of which 75% of PKs are already in the table and will be updated, the other 25% aren't and should be inserted later. I want to attempt an UPDATE statement using OCIBindArrayOfStruct to execute in bulk and then check which entries in my bulk array successfully updated. If an array entry isn't successfully updated then I will assume it should be inserted and will store it for a Direct Path load later.
    Many thanks for any advice you can give as I've been trawling through the docs trying to find a solution for ages now.

  • Get the size of the table as per row wise.( Rows in group by clause)

    Hello,
    I am using ORACLE 11g Standard edition and RHEL 4.
    I have a situation in which i want to know the size of the limited rows of the table.
    I am moving table's rows from one table(one tablespace) to another table(another tablespace) While moving the rows I want to be sure that the size of the rows is good enough to fit in the another table's tablespace free size. So before inserting rows in another table i will check the size of rows and the free space in tablespace and perform the action as per.
    Here is the senario with example :-
    I have a table called MAIN_TAB which has a column as DATE_TIME which stores the systimestamp when the data was inserted. See the code below ...
    select * from main_tab;
    ID     VALUE DATE_TIME
    1     DATA      18-MAY-11 12.00.00.000000000 AM
    2     DATA      18-MAY-11 12.00.00.000000000 AM
    3     DATA      17-MAY-11 12.00.00.000000000 AM
    4     DATA      17-MAY-11 12.00.00.000000000 AM Now i will fire a group by date_time query to know how many rows for each systimestamp.
    select trunc(date_time),count(id)
    from MAIN_TAB
    group by trunc(date_time)
    DATE_TIME     COUNT(ID)
    17-MAY-11               2
    18-MAY-11               2So now you can see i have 2 rows for 17th and 18th May. I want to know what is the size of the data for 17th and 18th May in MB. I know how to get the size of the whole table but i want only the limited rows size as per date.
    So the question is how can i get the size of a table's 2 rows data ???
    Provide me some guidance.
    If the question is not clear to you , let me know ....
    Thanks in advance ...

    Thanks Pravan for your reply. But Its still not so usefull for me. Can you please give some clear idea about what you wanna say ??
    I fired the DBA_TABLES view for my table i.e. 'MAIN_TAB' The AGV_ROW_LEN column showed 0 but that does not mean that my table has no data it, for sure it has 4 rows in it and consists of some data . . . . .
    Please clarify what i can do to get the size of rows related to that particular date ......
    thanks.

  • Multiple rows affected message for a single insert

    Why would this show multiple 1 row affected statements in the messages tab? I tried tracing it, but it only shows a single statement:
    create table #ltbl_Temp (a int, b varchar(100))
    insert into #ltbl_Temp values (1, 'AAA')
    drop table #ltbl_Temp
    Proceduces:
    (1 row(s) affected)
    (1 row(s) affected)
    Here is the plan
    John M. Couch

    In SQL Server, everything is a transaction.
    When you enable Actual execution plan, additional row is to represent the execution plan.,ie, 1 row for your actual insert and the next is for actual execution plan.
    You may check without actual execution plan, it would show only 1 row(s) affected. In other way, you may check with only Estimated Execution plan, it would return only 1 row(s) affected( here no data returns)
    Hope the above is clear.
    EDIT:
    Eg:
    create table #ltbl_Temp (a int, b varchar(100))
    insert into #ltbl_Temp values (1, 'AAA'),(1,'BBB')--With actual execution plan(2 row(s) affected)
    (1 row(s) affected)--Without actual execution plan(2 row(s) affected)
    --Only with estimated plan(1 row(s) affected)drop table #ltbl_Temp

  • Need to retrieve number of rows affected by SQL query

    Hi,
    I am executing some update queries in SQL in a xMII transaction. Iam using a SQL Query template for the same and I need to find out how many records were affected by the last executed statement. I have tried doing SELECT @@ROWCOUNT in a second SQL template that executes after the UPDATE SQL Query Template. However, the results are intermittent, sometimes it returns 1 row affected as expected but sometimes returns 0 rows. Can anyone help on this.
    Thanks

    Anamika,
    1) As per sql best practices use of trigger is not recommend unless you don't have any other option because usually triggers consume more resources and IO since it involves internal monitoring.
    2) @@ROWCOUNT should go in same SQL session where you are performing update to identify rows affected else as you said earlier your results will not be accurate
    3) The other alternative is to create a Stored Procedure but it again boils down to your authorization issue. This would be easier and better if you have authorization to create SP's. But nevertheless give it a try.
    4) Lets forget about SP say that you have an Update Statement like
    Update Table1 set column2 = 'abc' where Column2 = 'xyz'
    In this case it is evident that you know what you are passing into the Where clause and to what table hence its obvious that you also know how many rows will be affected by using query,
    Select count(*) from Table1 where Column2 = 'abc'
    The @@ROWCOUNT is powerful within t-sql with SP, cursors etc..
    Hope this helps!!

  • How to dynamically display the data from a table base on row selection of another table in ADF

    Hi ,
    I have a requirement in ADF. I need to change the data of a table  based on row selection of another Table . Both the table have a Parent Child relationship between them. They have a common attribute say department_id.
                                                                                         For this I created bind variable in view object of employees table and wrote a where clause in the sql query using that bind variable. Then I created method for selection listener of department Table in java bean.
    My method is following
        public void onrowselection(SelectionEvent selectionEvent) {
            RichTable richTable = (RichTable)selectionEvent.getSource();
                            CollectionModel tableModel = (CollectionModel)richTable.getValue();
                            JUCtrlHierBinding adfTableBinding = (JUCtrlHierBinding)tableModel.getWrappedData();
                            Object selectedRowData = richTable.getSelectedRowData();
                            JUCtrlHierNodeBinding nodeBinding = (JUCtrlHierNodeBinding)selectedRowData;
                    oracle.jbo.domain.Number newVal = (oracle.jbo.domain.Number) nodeBinding.getAttribute("DepartmentId");
                    Number pallet = newVal.bigDecimalValue();
                    System.out.println("Selected values " + pallet);
            BindingContext bindingctx = BindingContext.getCurrent();
                          BindingContainer bindings = bindingctx.getCurrentBindingsEntry();
                          DCBindingContainer bindingsImpl = (DCBindingContainer) bindings;
                  DCIteratorBinding dciter = bindingsImpl.findIteratorBinding("EmployeesView1Iterator");//access the iterator by its ID value in the PageDef file
                          ViewObject vo =dciter.getViewObject();
                          vo.setNamedWhereClauseParam("DepartmentId", pallet);//enter your value
                          vo.executeQuery();
    It is printing the selected value of department id from department table in the log. But it is not able to pass the value to employees view. It is showing the following error in the log
    "Definition DepartmentId of type Variable is not found in EmployeesView1."
    I will be very thankful if someone helps me to solve this errror or is there any other way to achieve the same requirement.
    Thanks
    Nilesh

    Note quite sure why you simply wont create a viewlink for the viewobject the tables are based on..
    The viewlink attribute will be based on the departmentId and it's a simple master detail relationship which automatically uses ppr.
    However, if both tables are on the same page; using your hack about;
    On the underlying viewobject, define a viewcriteria e.g. "listById" and set your bind variable here.
    I would bind table two to a RichTable component:
    RichTable t2;
    public void onrowselection(SelectionEvent selectionEvent) {
            RichTable richTable = (RichTable)selectionEvent.getSource();
                            CollectionModel tableModel = (CollectionModel)richTable.getValue();
                            JUCtrlHierBinding adfTableBinding = (JUCtrlHierBinding)tableModel.getWrappedData();
                            Object selectedRowData = richTable.getSelectedRowData();
                            JUCtrlHierNodeBinding nodeBinding = (JUCtrlHierNodeBinding)selectedRowData;
                    oracle.jbo.domain.Number newVal = (oracle.jbo.domain.Number) nodeBinding.getAttribute("DepartmentId");
                    Number pallet = newVal.bigDecimalValue();
                    System.out.println("Selected values " + pallet);
                   refreshTable2(pallet);
            BindingContext bindingctx = BindingContext.getCurrent();
                          BindingContainer bindings = bindingctx.getCurrentBindingsEntry();
                          DCBindingContainer bindingsImpl = (DCBindingContainer) bindings;
                  DCIteratorBinding dciter = bindingsImpl.findIteratorBinding("EmployeesView1Iterator");//access the iterator by its ID value in the PageDef file
                          ViewObject vo =dciter.getViewObject();
                          vo.setNamedWhereClauseParam("DepartmentId", pallet);//enter your value
                          vo.executeQuery();
    private void refreshTable2(Number pallet){
    RichTable x=getT2();
    CollectionModel cm=(CollectionModel)x.getValue();
    JUCtrlHierBinding jcb=(JUCtrlHierBinding)cm.getWrappedData();
    BindingContainer bindings = bindingctx.getCurrentBindingsEntry();
    DCBindingContainer bindingsImpl = (DCBindingContainer) bindings;
    DCIteratorBinding dciter = bindingsImpl.findIteratorBinding(jcb.getName()+"Iterator");
    ViewObject vo =dciter.getViewObject();
    ViewCriteriaManager vcm=vo.getViewCriteriaManager();
    ViewCriteria vc=vcm.getViewCriteria("listById");
    vo.applyViewCriteria(vc);
    vo.setNamedWhereClauseParam("DepartmentId",pallet);
    vo.executeQuery();
    AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(getT2());

  • C# - What's wrong with a table called JOBS? :(

    Post Author: Gee
    CA Forum: .NET
    Hi
    I've just moved up to .NET 2005. and am having a big problem right now with one report in particular.
    The report uses an Oracle table called "JOBS". It worked just fine in .NET 2003. Now though, it comes up with the dreaded field name not known error.
    So, I tried to just do a completely new report with just ONE field from the JOBS table on it. It doesn't want to know!
    I then copied (so it was IDENTICAL) the table structure and data to a new one called "JOBSTEST". The simple report worked (once I'd changed it to use the JOBSTEST fields of course)
    I deleted the original JOBS table, copied a new JOBS table from the JOBSTEST table and... it didn't work again!
    So, what's wrong with having a table called "JOBS"? Because that seems to be the problem!
    Oh... it works ok on the development machine. Just not any other. ALL other reports work fine!
    Thank you so much for your time in helping me

  • How to avoid table refresh on row selection

    Hi,
    I have a table where the row selection happens on selecting the check box in the first column of the row. The check box is bound to the transient Boolean attribute of my VO to support this functionality which is missing in new version of ADF. The selection is working fine, however I am facing the issue with table refresh. Everytime I click checkbox to select or unselect a row my whole table is getting refreshed which is very unusual for user point of view. This is my code for the checkbox column:
    <af:column sortProperty="isSelected" sortable="true"
    headerText="#{bindings.pricingObjects.hints.isSelected.label}"
    id="c4"
    inlineStyle='#{(row.isSelected)?"background-color: #E7E7E7":""};'>
    <af:selectBooleanCheckbox value="#{row.bindings.isSelected.inputValue}"
    required="#{bindings.pricingObjects.hints.isSelected.mandatory}"
    shortDesc="#{bindings.pricingObjects.hints.isSelected.tooltip}"
    id="it4" simple="true"
    autoSubmit="true">
    <f:validator binding="#{row.bindings.isSelected.validator}"/>
    </af:selectBooleanCheckbox>
    I have to keep autoSubmit="true" on selectBooleanCheckbox because the table has to change color of the row everytime the checkbox is selected or deselected. Also, there are multiple commandToolbarButton such as "Delete" which needs to be enabled/disabled depending on the row selection.
    Is there anyway, I can achieve this behaviour with minimal refresh of table?

    Hi Marge,
    Yes I do have Add and Delete toolbar button in the panelCollection and also set partialTrigger="tableId" on them. I need this partialTriggers because Delete button should enable/disable depending on number of rows added in the table. However, I tried removing them but it did not work for me, table is still refreshing. BUT this solution does work in combination of other solution i.e. removing ChangeEventPolicy="ppr" on the iterator. I need ppr because I have a form which is bound to the same iterator and should change on table selection. The design is like this,
    - Read-only Table on top
    - Editable Form below
    - Select the row in table and edit the fields in the form
    If I remove ppr then my form is not updating with the row selection.

    Afroz
