Table maintenence Generator for a Huge data Table.

Hi Experts,
I have created a Table maitenance for a Custom table which has some 80,000,000 records approx.
Now the when i run this, it goes for a short dump saying "STORAGE_PARAMETERS_WRONG_SET".
The basis have reported that the tcode is running a sequential read on the table & they are saying that is the reason for this dump.
Are there any limitations that Table maintenance can't be created for table with huge data?
Or should the program be modified to accomodate the "READ" from the tables in case of large entries?
Please advice.

Hi,
I think this is because of memory overflow.
You can create two screens for this, in on screen (Overview) screen, restrict the data selection.
In detail screen display the data.

Recording routine standard recording routine
but it is giving following error
screen SAPL<ZTABLE NAME> 0003 could not be generated
In DYNPFIELD_ATTR mandatory field LINE has no value
please let me know how to sort out these errors.
Is there any limit on the number of fields for which we can create table maintenance generetor.

Hi Sudipto,
There is not limit to the number of fields of the Table which can be used in TMG for generation. But, from the usability point of view this will horrible.
I created a Z table and added 64 fields and was able to generate the TMG with the screens perfectly. So, I guess there should not be any problem.
Well, have a look at the Function Group. I guess the screen numbers are already used by some other screens. You can set the system to propose freely available screen numbers from the pool.
Also, check whether proper authorization is assigned or not.
And if nothing is working, you can degenerate all the generated screens and then can have a new regeneration of it.

Best way to generate report on huge data table

I am using Oracle11g.
I want to generate reports on transaction tables containing huge amount of data, on which very frequently DMLs are performing in real time.
i want to keep my report/result in RESULT_CACHE for 15 mins. active. whenever any insert/update runs on main tables the RESULT_CACHE is getting invalidated
my question is can i control/stop RESULT_CACHE relies on(table_name) invalidating, as Oracle11g invalidating RESULT_CACHE automatically.
my requirement is to not hit the main table again&again.
pls help..

It sounds as if you're trying to avoid contention on a very busy large table while users are experimenting with relatively small fractions of the total data set. The type of thing you're doing is probably about the best approach - though it sounds as if you are not using global temporary tables which could save you a bit of time and contention when refreshing each private data set.
Ideally, though, you probably want a front end tool that does client-side caching - i.e. pulls the data into the front-end tool and lets the user rearrange it cosmetically there until the user explicitly requests a new trip to the database. I think Oracle Discoverer has (had) some capability in this area. What's the scale of the work the users are doing - can you give us a few scenarios about how much raw data they will extract and what they want to do with it before they refresh it ?

P.S. Oracle does have client-side caching technology - but your ability to use it is dependent on the tools you use. You might want to go over to one of the developer or BI forums to see what they say about this problem; they may give you a different perspective on it.

Creation of Table Maintainence Generator for Standard table

I need to create a table maintainence generator for a standard SAP table.
The end user need have to delete certain entries from the table.
Is it viable to go for a table maintaninence generator or go for program which will delete the entry from the standard SAP table.

Hi experts,
 I am having a table in which I have implemented the table maintenence generator.The requirement is as follows:
Field A:User enters value 'aaa' using F4 help
Field B:Automatically gets populated with the short description corresponding to 'aaa'.
Here the short description depends on the selected value for field A.

No need to do your coding in events in your case. first of all you understand the internal table used in table Maintainace, The internal tables used are TOTAL and EXTRACT. These table are of string type so you will have to catch your value using offset. To write the logic to popualte the value is very simple in your case. You add one Module in PAI logic of screen of Table maintainance generator in that Module you poupalte the field. for example say for the F4 value of field MATNR you want to populate field MAKTX. then in the one custom PAI moudule you write like this.
SELECT SINGLE FROM MAKT
 INTO LF_MAKTX
 WHERE MATNR = EXTARCT+3(18)(If Material is the 2nd field after MANDT).
In PAI LOOP is done on EXTARCT internal Table which holds Records in run time.
This will solve your requirment If you are not having F4 help then you can create it by adding one event PROCESS ON VALUE-REQUEST writeen in Flow logic of screen.
We use event where we want to do some validation based on some reasons like Before saving the data in database or before displaying to do the validation of records from table TOTAL. there are diffrent events in Table maintaince but in your case it's not required..

When you create the maintanence generator , at the bottom there is a section 'Dialog Data Transport Details' with two options.
I feel currently you must have selected
'Standard Recording Routine'
uncheck that and select no,or,user recording routine .
So go to SE11 , enter your table name , go to edit mode and then go to table maintancen generator.

-->Goto transcation SE11 ABAP Dictionary
-->Select View and type in the name of the view you want to create.
-->Press the Create button
-->In the dialog box that appears, choose Maintenance View
-->Select tables and fields for the view
-->Activate the view
or
-->Create view in SE11
-->Goto transcation SE11 ABAP Dictionary
-->enter table name
-->go to Utilities
-->select table maintainance Genarator
-->Enter single step
--> enter Function Group(all the code for Table mainaitenace is stored here)
-->eneter single step
-->enter Authorization gorup(we can restrict some user,s not tot update data)
Activate the view
function Group -->goto se37 -- > menu bar goto->create function group with five letters ..
add the same function group in table maintainenece generatoror enter the sane table name in Function group Place..
if you dont know the Authorization group ( not given by Function design) put &NA&
or if you want to know the maintainence View already exists go to table TSTCV
enter Table name you can get the view available for the table name..

We can generate only single table maintenance generator for a single table.
you can add modification event in inside table maintenance if you need anything to change or validate in insde your table maintenance generator.

Table maintanance Generator is used to manually
input values using transaction sm30.The Table Maintenance Generator is used to create table maintenance program to add, modify or delete records in the database table. This can be accessed using transaction SE54 or in SE11 using the menu Utilities->Table Maintenance Generator

Follow below steps
go to se11 check table maintanance check box under
attributes tab
utilities-table maintanance Generator->
create function group and assign it under
function group input box.
also assign authorization group default &NC& .
select standard recording routine radio in table
table mainitainence generator to move table
contents to quality and production by assigning
it to request.
select maintaience type as single step.
maintainence screen as system generated numbers
this dialog box appears when you click on create

One step, two step in Table Maintenance Generator
Single step: Only overview screen is created i.e. the Table Maintenance Program will have only one screen where you can add, delete or edit records.
Two step: Two screens namely the overview screen and Single screen are created. The user can see the key fields in the first screen and can further go on to edit further details.

Table maintenance generator for a custom table

Hi All,
I have a requirement.
I had created a custom table with 5 fields with partner_id as the key field.
I had generated the table maintenance for this.
But, when i maintain via sm30, the maintenance screen should display 7 fields, i.e
for the partnerid, the firstname and the lastname has to be display as the second and third column.
So, in the maintnenace screen sm30, i should have 7 fields display... but actually in real custom table, there will be only five fields (except firstname and lastname of partner).
Please guide me how to do this development.
Do i need to change the code generated via table maintenance and add these two fields in the table control and code to retreive the values for the firstname and lastname.
Please help me.

it is not a wise idea to add your custom fields in standard sap table maintenance generator screens..
each time you do a re - generate, (in case you added a new field in the table, or changed a data element, ) you will have to regenerate your tabe maintenance generator, and you will lose your code...
in this case, it will be better to create a custom screen with these fields and write code to populate the table..
or to make it easy, create a maintenance view with all fields required,

Also, if you set the 'Recording routine' in the table maintenance generator attributes to the default of 'Standard recording routine' this will link to the transport system and client settings. If you don't want your table contents to be transported set this to 'no, or user, recording routine'.

Using Highlight for columns in data tables

Hi, I'm using the "Highlight" function of SpryEffects in
combination with the sorting features. My HTML structure is a
simple data table, with a repeating region on the table row, so it
pulls in as many rows there are pieces in the attached XML file.
When I sort by one of the column headers at the top, I want to
highlight that whole column, so users can see what they're sorting
by. I'm able to get the first row of the data table highlighted,
but none of the following rows work. I'm pretty sure the problem is
that the highlight function only works when you use an id to define
the element that you want highlighted. If it's in a repeating row,
it sees many ids on the page, and only applies the highlight to the
first one. I want to change the id to a class, so I can put
multiple ones on the page and have it work, but I can't see how to
do that in the SpryEffects.js file.
Can anyone tell me if it's possible to do this? Thanks.

Just downloaded the latest Patch upgrading to v 3.1.2-704 and confirmed that this functionality is not available yet.
Keeping your experience in mind what kind of expectation to you have for the approval and realization of your request?

Some of the posts in the forum seem to suggest that there is a JavaFX Data Table component in the works , any word on when we'll see something ? I'm looking for the following features ..
* Columns of different widths
* Columns that the user can resize at runtime
* Columns that the user can reorder at runtime
* Columns that can be filtered(removed) at runtime
* Customizable column headers
* Ability to use a custom cell rendered for any column to display data other than text
* Support for sorting the data by clicking on a column
* Pagination
* Runtime column selection
* Background row highlighting
Until a JavaFX data table arrives is it a recommended approach to use something like JXTable ?
