Table update not executing...

Hello,
I'm trying to let my Java code update some data (in a microsoft database). Here is the structure of the table:
series
serie_id (int) | name (String) | .........
1 | name_1 | .....
2 | name_2 | ...
3 | name_3 | .....
Next i write a query, which should be very obvious:
String sql = "UPDATE series SET name='new_name' WHERE serie_id = 3"Afterwards I pass this query to the executeUpdate method. It returns the value 1 (because 1 row was updated), but when I examin the database through Access, the data doesn't seem to have changed.
I also tried a wrong query, such as
String sql = "UPDATE series SET name='new_name' WHERE serie_id = 4".
Of course nothing is updated, and the executeUpdate method returns 0, which might imply the query and JVM work perfectly, but the problem is in my database.
Has anyone experienced this problem?
Thanks for those who can help!!
Tom

because you aren't closing your statement and connection properly. it's a well-known problem with Access.
you'd be well advised to learn to use PreparedStatement instead of Statement. let it escape strings and dates for you, and eliminate the possibility of SQL injection attacks on your code.

  • Table update not happening

    Dear All,
    We have directly updated the table (J_2IACCBAL) value of RG23CBED, RG23CECS, RG23CAT1 in order to get those values in the corrosponding register after we extract(J2I5) and take print out(J2I6).
    But when we extracting the register by using T,Code: J2I5 it is not updating the manual entry which we made directly in the table.
    Kindly provide the solution how do we update the balance in the table to get as open balance for the corrosponding register.
    Regards
    Srini

    Hi Srinivasan ,
    Please write the following code and execute it and then check those transaction
    J2I5 whether new entries are reflected or not and please let me know .
    data  : t_itab like table of J_2IACCBAL.
    select * from J_2IACCBAL into table t_itab bypassing buffer.
    or
    Enter  $TAB in the command field . " It may take long time
    copy the above code and execute it once from a program or enter $TAB in the command
    field and then check the transaction.
    If this issue due to buffer then it will be solved.

  • ADF Faces - Table update not completely rendered

    Hi,
    [ myfaces 1.1.3 + ADF version 10.1.3.0.4 ]
    I have a problem with Table component, changing a value of the inputText components will not update the output component also inside the table. At least not rendered to HTML, the view-tree contains the updated values. Below I have added a part of the jsp-code + a part of the view-tree of the log.
    Changing the value of the inputText with id="salesInput" should trigger an update to the otherSales value in the footer facet in the same column, but it isn't (in the browser).
    So I added multiple outputText components on different places in the table to find out if they were updated. I have also added an inputText component with id="test" outside of the table component, this one is properly updating all the otherSales values.
    If I change the values on the inputText component with id="salesInput" only the outputText with "salesOutput2" is updated in the browser, the one in the footer facet still contains the previous value. (only a browser refresh is fetching the correct values).
    What's the problem why it's not rendered to HTML, tree-view contains right values. Can I force the rendering ?
    Did I miss properties, attributes ?
    Any ideas...
    Your Help is really appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Bas van Oudenaarde

    Log output, changing the value of inputText component within the table component. Here you can see that all values are updated to 92 in the view-tree!!! On the screen however it still shows the previous value in the outputText components expect for the outputText with id=salesOutput2 :

    In EA14, the return from the dialog required a full-page refresh (whether the dialog was launched with PPR or not didn't matter). In EA15, it's done with PPR if possible. This avoids the flash (and re-scrolling, etc.), but means you do need to tell us what's going to get changed because of the return. You can use partialTriggers on the table with the "id" of the button to make this happen.

  • ADF Faces EA15: table update not working properly after dialog return event

    Hi,
    in my application I have a table with read-only records and an edit button for each row.
    The button triggers a dialog where one field of of the record can be edited.
    The record is a bean which is put into processScope.
    After accepting the change in the dialog the bean makes an update in the database changing the order of the records in the table on the launching page.
    The return event triggers a re-rendering of the launching page (which I can see from the output of a phase listener) and the table model gets updated but the table output is not updated visually.
    However, if I call the dialog on another record I don't get the record I see in the table but instead I get the record which I'd expected if the table re-rendered properly.
    Do I have to trigger any kind of event on the table now so that the framework knows that a change has taken place and that the table has to be re-rendered? There is no difference whether I use PPR or not. It used to work in EA14.
    Thanks,
    Achim

    Hello,
    You should better post your question to a more related Forum, like Transact-SQL or SQL Server Database Engine; this Forum is for samples & community Projects.
    Have you checked the execution plan if indexes are used?
    You could update the data in chunks, e.g. 10.000 rows per execution. For this you have to add a TOP clause and a filter to update only those, who are not updated yet.
    update TOP (10000) Employees
    set Status = 'Close'
    where statusid IN
    (select statusid
    from MyView
    where DownloadedDate ='2014-07-27 00:00:00.000')
    AND Status <> 'Close'

  • Update Row into Run Table Task is not executing in correct sequence in DAC

    Update Row into Run Table Task is not executing in correct sequence in DAC.
    The task phase for this task is "Post Lost" . The depth in the execution plan is 19 but this task is running some times in Depth 12, some times in 14 and some time in Depth 16. Would like to know is this sequence of execution is correct order or not? In the out of the Box this task is executed at the end of the entire load. No Errors were reported in DAC log.
    Please let me know if any documents that would highlight this issue
    rm

    Update into Run table is a task thats required to update a table called W_ETL_RUN_S. The whole intention of this table is to keep the poor mans run history on the warehouse itself. The actual run history is stored in the DAC runtime tables, however the DAC repository could be on some other database/schema other than warehouse. Its mostly a legacy table, thats being carried around. If one were to pay close attention to this task, it has phase dependencies defined that dictate when this task should run.
    Apologies in advance for a lengthy post.... But sure might help understanding how DAC behaves! And is going to be essential for you to find issues at hand.
    The dependency generation in DAC follows the following rules of thumb!
    - Considers the Source table target table definitions of the tasks. With this information the tasks that write to a table take precedence over the tasks that reads from a table.
    - Considers the phase information. With this information, it will be able to resolve some of the conflicts. Should multiple tasks write to the same table, the phase is used to appropriately stagger them.
    - Considers the truncate table option. Should there be multiple tasks that write to the same table with the same phase information, the task that truncates the table takes precedence.
    - When more than one task that needs to write to the table that have similar properties, DAC would stagger them. However if one feels that either they can all go in parallel, or a common truncate is desired prior to any of the tasks execution, one could use a task group.
    - Task group is also handy when you suspect the application logic dictates cyclical reads and writes. For example, Task 1 reads from A and writes to B. Task 2 reads from B and writes back to A. If these two tasks were to have different phases, DAC would be able to figure that out and order them accordingly. If not, for example those tasks need to be of the same phase for some reason, one could create a task group as well.
    Now that I described the behavior of how the dependency generation works, there may be some tasks that have no relevance to other tasks either as source tables or target tables. The update into run history is a classic example. The purpose of this task is to update the run information in the W_ETL_RUN_S with status 'Completed' with an end time stamp. Because this needs to run at the end, it has phase dependency defined on it. With this information DAC will be able to stagger the position of execution either before (Block) or after (Wait) all the tasks belonging to a particular phase is completed.
    Now a description about depth. While Depth gives an indication to the order of execution, its only an indication of how the tasks may be executed. Its a reflection of how the dependencies have been discovered. Let me explain with an example. The tasks that have no dependency will have a depth of 0. The tasks that depend on one or more or all of depth 0 get a depth of 1. The tasks that depend on one or more or all of depth 1 get a depth of 2. It also means implicitly a task of depth 2 will indirectly depend on a task of depth 0 through other tasks in depth 1. In essence the dependencies translate to an execution graph, and is different from the batch structures one usually thinks of when it comes to ETL execution.
    Because DAC does runtime optimization in the order in which tasks are executed, it may pick a task thats of order 1 over something else with an order of 0. The factors considered for picking the next best task to run depend on
    - The number of dependent tasks. For example, a task which has 10 dependents gets more priorty than the one whose dependents is 1.
    - If all else equal, it considers the number of source tables. For example a task having 10 source tables gets more priority than the one that has only two source tables.
    - If all else equal, it considers the average time taken by each of the tasks. The longer running ones will get more preference than the quick running ones
    - and many other factors!
    And of course the dependencies are honored through the execution. Unless all the predecessors of a task are in completed state a task does not get picked for execution.
    Another way to think of this depth concept : If one were to execute one task at a time, probably this is the order in which the tasks will be executed.
    The depth can change depending on the number of tasks identified for the execution plan.
    The immediate predecessors and successor can be a very valuable information to look at and should be used to validate the design. All predecessors and successors provide information to corroborate it even further. This can be accessed through clicking on any task and choosing the detail button. You will see all these information over there. As an alternate method, you could also use the 'All/immediate Predecessors' and 'All/immediate Successor' tabs that provide a flat view of the dependencies. Note that these tabs may have to retrieve a large amount of data, and hence will open in a query mode.
    SUMMARY: Irrespective of the depth, validate
    - if this task has 'Phase dependencies' that span all the ETL phases and has a 'Wait' option.
    - click on the particular task and verify if the task does not have any successors. And the predecessors include all the tasks from all the phases its supposed to wait for!
    Once you have inspected the above two you should be good to go, no matter what the depth says!
    Hope this helps!

  • SQL Update statement not executing in Filter

    Hi,
    I am trying to update Documents table using the query resource in a custom component. The document table is requred to upate for vault file(1 row) and for weblayout file(1 row). The java code is executing in PostConversionFilter, the sql is defined in query resource.
    Query Resource is defined in componet like..
    MyQResource=UPDATE Documents SET dOriginalName = ?, dFormat = ?, dFileSize = ?, dExtension = ? WHERE (dID = ? AND dIsPrimary = ? AND dIsWebFormat = ?)
    This SQL executes for vault file means dIsPrimary = 1 AND dIsWebFormat = 0 however the same is not executing when for weblayout file dIsPrimary = 0 AND dIsWebFormat = 1
    I putting here final satement formed, got by systematabase trace as following
    For vault file:
    UPDATE Documents SET dOriginalName = 'XYZ009174~1.spdf', dFormat = 'application/vnd.sealedmedia.softseal.pdf', dFileSize = 0, dExtension = 'spdf' WHERE (dID = '9559' AND dIsPrimary = 1 AND dIsWebFormat = 0)
    For weblayuot file:
    UPDATE Documents SET dOriginalName = 'XYZ009174~1.spdf', dFormat = 'application/vnd.sealedmedia.softseal.pdf', dFileSize = 0, dExtension = 'spdf' WHERE (dID = '9559' AND dIsPrimary = 0 AND dIsWebFormat = 1)
    There is no error in logs, traces. I am using UCM 11g. in Documents table 1 row is updated for vault file only I am expecting for weblyaout updation also.
    Please help what could be the possible cause?
    Thanks,
    Manoj

    If I got your question, you state that you see a SQL statement in systemdatabase tracing, but it is not executed in the database? Btw. you should see further details (such as how much time the query took) if you turn on full verbose tracing.
    I'd just go and try to execute the same queries directly in the database (e.g. in sqlplus console). My guess is that there will be no record according to the second WHERE clause...

  • CDHDR table is not updated after execution of  transaction   CK 24

    Hi Experts ,
    I am  Triggering my workflow from  for CK 24 transaction based on the change document entry from CDHDR table , once the CK24 transaction executes .
    Now the problem is  after execution of the CK24 transaction now its not updating the table CDHDR, which was happening before .
    Note: No customization has been made which can affect this updation .
    Can any body please guide me on this , why the standard table is not being updated now with the change document entries  .
    Regards
    Sarmistha

    You can use following FMs
    CHANGEDOCUMENT_READ_HEADERS    Change document: Read change document header
    CHANGEDOCUMENT_READ_POSITIONS  Change document: Read change document items
    IN CDPOS you have to give the same thing as CDHDR. You have to search with the respective Object class and provide the Object Id(Key fields like Document number). Another thing you will also get the change document number from the transaction itself from which you are change the Document.
    Thanks

  • Register RG23C2 and  table J_1IPART2 not updated

    hi gurus
    we have an issue in exercise register and table updation.
    we Used T Code ---> J2IUN ---> Monthly utilization. there after
    the gl account has been updated but our register RG23C2 and the table J_1IPART2     not updated.
    in the month of last september.
    After that we did in march and it was updated but the september entry is still not updated in the register and in the table.
    we thought of updating the table through a zprogram but it is not recommended by sap.so please give me a guidance on how to update the table and the register

    Hi,
    Check whether
    1.Actually any entries are there for RG23C2, this you can check from table J_1IPART1 by choosing Register type 'C'.
    2. If entries are there, must be posted through 'J1iex'.
    3. Execute 'J2I6' before viewing the register.

  • On reversal of Invoice the table BKPF not getting updated properly

    Hi
    I have an issue, that when we create the Commercial Invoice, accounting document generated automatically. And after that due to some reason when we reverse the same through  VF11, the accounting document which was created while doing the invoicing not getting updated by "reversed with (STBLG)" field and "reversal Indicator (XREVERSAL) field in the table BKPF.
    However when I test the some scenario in Development and Quality server the same field is getting updated.
    I have already checked the Billing Document Type of SD and accounting document type but found everything in place.
    I am unable to get what is missing,and why this is happening in Production server only.
    Need your input at the earliest.
    Thanks in advance
    Regrads
    AA

    Hi
    thanks to all for their suggestion, the issue resolved with the help of SAP.
    For the forum members information :-
    This is standard system behaviour.
    BKPF-XREVERSAL is only populated/filled in the reversed original
    and in the reversal FI document if BKPF-STBLG and BKPF-STJAH
    are populated/filled in reversed original and reversal FI document.
    BKPF-STBLG and BKPF-STJAH are only populated/filled in reversed
    original and reversal FI document if the new/real cancellation
    procedure (-> with automatic clearing of the open items) is executed,
    and the new/real cancellation procedure is not executed, if an
    open item of the original, to be reversed FI document, has already
    been cleared (-> also see note 309208).

  • ST05 does not capture table update

    Hi,
    In the workflow, the approver executes workitem from UWL and clicks on approve.
    next workflow step is background steps that updates a table
    I can see the table is updated but the ST05 trace does not show the table update entry
    if I simulate the same approval and table insert by running the funtion module in standalone, then the trace shows it
    but shouldn't the table name appear in ST05 no matter it is done via workflow in background mode, triggered from portal
    or directly run in SAP GUI
    any inputs wud be useful
    thanks
    B

    B,
        the trace status (in ST05) will tell you what has been switched on.    I don't know if using * would be for all users, sorry.
    I would not recommend using * for performance reasons, but you really should determine what the workflow userid is and put that as your filter userid in ST05.    The userid should be WF-BATCH as I said previously.  Try that userid.
    If WF-BATCH exists in SU01, then that should be the userid.
    Good luck.

  • Tree table is not reflecting the updated model data changes at the front end

    I have two tables ,
    1) Provider table(tree table)  2)member table
    I have implemented drag and drop functionality using jQuery UI on both tables.
    In my scenario when I drag a member from the member table and drop it on the Provider table and also when I delete an assigned member from the provider table I will update the data fetched from odata model and again I will call the method which binds the data to the provider table so that the table will reflect the changes.
    here is the code,
    on drop:
    $("#Provider tbody tr").droppable({
      drop: function(event){
           oController.AssignMember(oProviderId, oMemberId)
      }).disableSelection();
    Assign member function:   here am updating the model.
    AssignMember : function(oProviderId, oMemberId){
      var oModel = new sap.ui.model.odata.ODataModel("../../../services/provider.xsodata/", true);
      var oParameters = {};
      oParameters.PROVIDER_ID = oProviderId;
      oParameters.MEMBER_ID = oMemberId;
      oParameters.CREATED_ON = new Date();
      oModel.setHeaders({"content-type" : "application/json;charset=utf-8"});
      oModel.create( "/PROVIDERMEMBERS", oParameters, null, function() {
      var oController = sap.ui.controller("adsm.provider.member_assignment_view");
      oController.GetProviderData();
      },function(jqXHR) {
      var errorMessage = jqXHR.response.body;
      var jsondata = JSON.parse(errorMessage);
      sap.ui.commons.MessageBox.alert(jsondata.error.message.value);
    GetProviderData function: here i bind the data to the table
    GetProviderData: function(){
    var oModel = new sap.ui.model.odata.ODataModel("../../../services/provider.xsodata/", true);
    var Context = "/PROVIDERS?expand=ASSIGNEDMEMBERS&$select=NAME,ID,ASSIGNEDMEMBERS/NAME,ASSIGNEDMEMBERS/ID,ASSIGNEDMEMBERS/PROVIDER_ID";
      var oTable = sap.ui.getCore().byId("tblProviders");
      oModel.read(Context, null, null, true, onSuccess, onError);
      function onSuccess(oEventdata){
      var outputJson = {};
      var p = 0;
      var r = {};
      if (oEventdata) {
      r = oEventdata;
      try {
      if (oEventdata.d){
      r = oEventdata.d;
      } catch(e){
      //alert('oEventdata.d failed');
      try {
      if (oEventdata.d.results){
      r = oEventdata.d.results;
      } catch(e){
      //alert('oEventdata.d.results failed');
      try {
      if (oEventdata.results){
      r = oEventdata.results;
      } catch(e){
      //alert('oEventdata.results failed');
      $.each(r, function(i, j) {
      outputJson[p] = {};
      outputJson[p]["NAME"] = j.NAME;
      outputJson[p]["ID"] = j.ID;
      outputJson[p]["PROVIDER_ID"] = j.ID;
      outputJson[p]["DELETE"] = 0;
      var m = 0;
      if (j.ASSIGNEDMEMBERS.results.length > 0) {
      $.each(j.ASSIGNEDMEMBERS.results, function(a,b) {
      outputJson[p][m] = { NAME: b.NAME,
      ID : b.ID,
      PROVIDER_ID: b.PROVIDER_ID,
      DELETE: 1};
      m++;
      p++;
    var oModel = new sap.ui.model.json.JSONModel();
      oModel.setData(outputJson);
      oTable.setModel(oModel);
      function onError(oEvent){
      console.log("Error on Provider Members");
    oTable.bindRows({
      path:"/"
    Its working fine in chrome but in IE the model data gets updated but the table is not reflecting the changes at front end.Can anyone suggest me a possible solution to fix this?
    Please have a look at the attached screen shots.
