Tables shift when Fireworks HTML is opened in DW

When I generate HTML in Fireworks, open it in Dreamweaver,
save it and view it in IE. The tables shift to the right and it
adds thickness to the border. Why do you think this happens?

Because you are using HTML written by a graphics editor? Yes,
I'm sure of
it.
Can you post a link to the page, please?

  • Table shifting when printing html email

    Hello,
    I built a test HTML email.  When I send this email to gmail or hotmail it looks great, but when I print it, the image to the right of the copy shifts inwards.  I have the copy block set to a specific width so why would it shift?  Here is my code:
    <html>
    <head><META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOINDEX, NOFOLLOW">
    <title>Win-River Casino</title>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">

    </table>
    </body>
    </html>

    Sorry, I meant to add this to my first post - the <td> elements have no width assigned to them, except for the text block. ALL <td> elements should be given a width (height as well if it's a static layout) as well as the widths and heights given to the <img> elements.
    The display:block element  is a requirement for Hotmail and Gmail as they can display table elements differently however Gmail has been getting better of late but it should still be added to every <img> element.
    Hope this solves the problem.

  • Template tables shifting when editing editible regions

    Hi there everyone,
    Have made a template. When making ne pages from the template, and then editing the editible regions, the tables are shifing and not going back to original place, even when I click here and there to see if they will go back. Sometimes the tables do go back to the original place, and other times they do not.
    Have made sure when making editable regions that the td, and other table code is not included in the editible regions.
    What I am asking, is when you make a template, if the table code is not included in the editable regions, should the tables be shifting around?
    What do you think?
    Any solutions?
    Thanks so much to you all,
    Hope

    Dear Gary,
    What a darling you are. Thank you so, so much for your attention. Wow, since you have never used templates, maybe I shouldn't either...(-:
    Am in great awe of someone who can look at tons of code and figure something out. Again, thank you so much for having a look.
    Ok, here is the code:

                  <p>They are helpful for designing prevention from problems and suffering. These programs are for those who believe &ldquo;As you sow, so do you reap.&rdquo; Maharishi Jyotish and Maharishi Yagya programs are for those who believe problems and suffering are the results of one&rsquo;s own wrong actions in the past, and who would like to take recourse to its policies and programs.</p>
                  <p>The knowledge of Maharishi Jyotish and Maharishi Yagya programs is that supreme knowledge that locates the whole panorama of life through one single point of a wide-angle lens&mdash;the time and place of birth of the individual is sufficient for a detailed calculation of the spread of the events of his whole life. And whenever during the lifetime negative influences are observed in the horoscope, calculations are made in advance to prescribe yagyas to generate positive influences to counterbalance the negative influences of the past.</p>
                  <p>All the Maharishi Yagya programs are with reference to Natural Law&mdash;the Will of God. It is very necessary for anyone who is entertaining the Maharishi Yagya programs to align their life to the rules of purity of life, as they understand purity of life.</p>
                  <p>The procedure of prediction and recommendation requires an elaborate preparation and study of the birth chart&mdash;Kundali or horoscope&mdash;of the person and his closely related family members: mother, father, husband or wife, and children. The correct birth time is necessary for accurate predictions and proper selection of yagyas. In case the birth time of a person is not accurate or not available, it is within the scope of expertise of the Maharishi Jyotish program Pandits to locate the proper birth time and prepare a proper Kundali.</p>
                  <p>It is necessary that an exhaustive study of the whole life of the person and his close relatives is performed by a panel of experts of the Maharishi Jyotish program. On the basis of this total study of all possible influences on the individual, a Comprehensive Life Kundali is produced, which will be an all-time standard reference for predictions and necessary Maharishi Yagya procedures as well as other Maharishi Jyotish services.</p>
                  <p>Teams of experts in Maharishi Jyotish consultation have been organized for each continent. They are available for consultations and they are experts at making Comprehensive Life Kundalis and prescribing appropriate Maharishi Yagya performances and Graha Shanti for individuals, families, and companies.</p>
                  <p>Everyone is advised to take advantage of this beautiful knowledge and enjoy a problem-free life.<br />

  • Javascript code missing when inserting Fireworks html into DW document

    I tried to insert fireworks html in a Dreamweaver file. After importing the fireworks html in the Dreamweaver document, the associated Javascript code was missing.
    Of course, the Fireworks html file includes the Javascript code and works properly. It is just that when I insert the Fireworks html into the Dreamweaver file, the associated Javascript code gets lost although the manual clearly says that fireworks html is inserted "along with its associated images, slices, and JavaScript".
    I use Fireworks CS5 and Dreamweaver CS5, but I also tried it using FW CS4 and DW CS4 which did not solve the problem.
    I tried two ways to insert the html code (both with the same negative result):
    1.) using the DW menu: Insert > Image Objects > Fireworks HTML
    2.) Copying the HTML to the clipboard in Fireworks, and then pasting it into the Dreamweaver document
    The Fireworks and the Dreaweaver files are both HTML4 docs.
    Of course, I could insert the Javascript code manually, but then I would have to detach the associated template from the DW doc, and I would rather not do that because then later updates to the site will become more complicated.
    BTW, I also tried to insert the fireworks html in another Dreamweaver document not using any template, but the JavaScript code got lost though.
    I would be very grateful if somebody had an idea how to solve this  problem.
    Many thanks for your help!

    Dear Murray,
    I believe you can solve your problem by changing this -
    </head>
    to this -
    <!-- #BeginEditable "head" --><!-- #EndEditable -->
    </head>
    by editing this template directly.
    I tried this, but it did not change anything. As I wrote before, the JavaScript code is not even inserted when I use a "blank", not-template-controlled DW page.
    But nevertheless, your hint is very helpful. By making the complete head editable, I can at least insert the Javascript code manually.
    But is the javascript that is currently shown there part of the FW HTML insertion?  Do you want to preserve that on the child pages?
    It belongs to the template. And yes, I want to preserve it on the child pages. I just want to insert this into the head of the child page:
    function MM_swapImage() { //v3.0
      var i,j=0,x,a=MM_swapImage.arguments; document.MM_sr=new Array; for(i=0;i<(a.length-2);i+=3)
       if ((x=MM_findObj(a[i]))!=null){document.MM_sr[j++]=x; if(!x.oSrc) x.oSrc=x.src; x.src=a[i+2];}
    Maybe we should see the FW code you are trying to insert?
    Sure. Here is the code I tried to insert (of course, most of the Java Script does not need to be inserted as it is already in the template):

  • Excel containing pivot table - Problem when opening

    Hi,
    There is jsp that generates an excel with few pivot tables in it. In the open/save dialog, if I save the excel and open it, it displays fine but if it is opened up directly, it gives an error saying "Reference is invalid".
    Note: The range for the pivot tables are specified using named ranges ( data is in different sheet from that of the pivot table ) ... but it works fine if saved and reopened.
    just confused of this behaviour... any ideas would be greatly appreciated...
    Regards...

    This seems to be a bug with the Excel. This works fine with Netscape and also should work fine with other browsers. In IE, the temp file is created with a file name that ends with a square bracket at the end( eg. myExcel[1].xls ) and this is contrary to the file naming convention of ms-excel ( should not contain '[' or ']' ).
    Only solution is, open the excel file as inline...
    response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "inline; filename = myExcel.xls");Please advice if my perception is wrong or is there any other work around for this? I have tried using all types of headers when sending the response but nothing helps.
    To check this,
    Create an excel file and try to save it with a file name that contains square brackets...
    Regards...

    There's a good chance the file is corrupt. As whomever sent it to you to verify it opens on their end.

    camera raw 8.7 color and contrast shifts when file opened in ps 6

    Thanks ssprengel for the suggestions and running a side by side yourself. I went through all my settings and applied your suggestions and did a side by side each time. I even uninstalled the entire creative suite on my system then reinstalled and updated and I still get the same outcome. It was fine yesterday with the previous version of ACR. It seems like the updated version is not showing the image preview in any color space. When I switch the color space in the workflow options the histogram changes but it doesn't seem to affect the preview window. And yes the preview button was checked on it was just when I was using the screen grab tool in windows it took focus away from the application so that is why the settings appear grayed out. I have attached more screen grabs below illustrating all my settings. Also here is some system info if anyone out there has a similar setup and would be willing to test.

    Go into your Users/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and see if there's a file titled Domain.sites.  If there is double click on it and see if iWeb opens.
    If there is no Domain file there do the following:
    delete the iWeb preference files, com.apple.iWeb.plist and com.apple.iWeb.plist.lockfile, that resides in your Home() /Library/Preferences folder.
    go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
    Click to view full size
    launch iWeb and try again.

  • Why html page opens when I try to open a document clicking on Link?

    Hi,
    Why a blank html page opens along with the File download diolog box when I try to open an Excel file by clicking on a Link/button (In Flash CS4). Though the html page disappears as soon as I click on "Open" or "Save" option. But It should just show the File download dialog box without an empty html file, when clicking on the link.
    The following is our Intranet file path which I am using to open the Excel file:

  • Javascript missing when insert Fireworks html to Dreamweaver

    Thanks

    Thank you for your answer.
    "Is the javascript inline with the HTML or does it point to an external resource (like and external JavaScript file)? "
    inline.
    "Does using code view differ from design view as you insert the Fireworks material?"
    No
    "are you trying to paste this Fireworks code into a non-editable region of a Dreamweaver template?"
    No

  • When I try to open the HTML file "file:///C:/Users/DHeimann/Documents/JP Cohousing/Retreat agenda 2014.htm", the system attempts to access Gmail and hangs.

    I can open various most other *.htm or *.html files on my C drive without a problem. However, there are other HTML files on the drive that do have this problem when I try to open them.
    When I try to open the file in Internet Explorer rather than Firefox, I get a message that JavaScript is not enabled. However, I do have JavaScript enabled, and have just updated Java to Version 7, Update 51.

    One of the problems with saving web pages from complex dynamic sites like Gmail is that you may be saving the instructions for rendering the page rather than the actual content of the page. In that case, if you are logged out of your account or there is a cross-site security bar to pulling the needed data, then the saved page may not display correctly or at all. If a message is critical, it's a good idea to print or save the page to PDF or grab a screen shot to work around that problem.
    The message you're getting in Internet Explorer may be related to the fact that IE has different security zones with different restrictions. For example, sites in the Internet Zone normally can run JavaScript, and sites in the Restricted Sites list cannot. The local computer zone has much tighter security compared with the old IE6/XP days, and that may explain what you're seeing there.
    P.S. Browsers interpret JavaScript internally without using the Java plugin.

  • RoboHelp HTML v5 Crash when I try to open topic

    I did a minor edit on a small topic in an existing project.
    Robohelp crashed before I could save. I ended the task and reloaded
    the project into HR, and received this msg:
    The reference to the file, "C:\help projects\UW\IDI UW\Chap
    15\file:\C:\help projects\UW man.css" from the file ""C:\help
    projects\UW\IDI UW\Chap 15\syndrome.htm" contains illegal
    characters and will not be shown in the project manager.
    RH crashed again. I loaded the referenced file in Internet
    Explorer, found the funky path displayed on the error msg, modied
    it, and saved the file. When I tried to open the project in RH and
    open the topic, I didn't receive the error message again, but RH
    did crash. Ended the task w/Windows Task Manager, loaded RH and
    opened the project. I then deleted the offending topic and
    reimported it from an MS Word file. No error msg., but RH crashed
    again.
    I was able to edit another topic, save, and regenerate.
    However, now RH crashes no matter which topic I try to edit. The
    last time I worked on this project was 11/07, and everything went
    smoothly then.
    It's late Sunday evening. I'm stumped. Great issue for a
    Monday morning. Any ideas?

    I decided to try the oldest trick in the book and reboot the
    computer. That resolved the problem! Duh!
    However, I need to edit the index on the project, and RH
    crashes when I try to open the index designer. I haven't tried to
    reboot. I am opening another topic on this one. I found many issues
    with RH crashes, and maybe that will help someone else, when we
    have a resolution.

  • Lining some divs up, one with a fireworks html and another with a jQuery slideshow

    I am having an issue lining two divs up within a div.  One div has a fireworks html in it (by the way, I can't figure out why that the button states arent' working.  I inserted the code via the insert menu > image objects > fireworks html, but for some reason the button states work.  When I open the navbar.htm in the file browser, it opens it up in dreamweaver and it works perfectly in live preview).  The other div has a simple jQuery slideshow.  I have these two divs in a greater overall div named "div id=wrapper".  How can I line these up so that the nav div and body div are flush against each other within the wrapper div?
    I plan on putting additional divs above and below the wrapper div for more content.  If anyone has insight on why the fireworks html isnt working when inserted, that would be great!!
