Tagging a document

Hello,
I'm looking for a way to add the ability to tag something (document) on Vibe before submitting it rather than have to go back to the document then tag it using the 'Tag' tab... Is this possible? Would this be something I would have to do on the back end on the Vibe server or is there something I'm missing when creating a custom form?
Any suggestions/help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Regards,
Ryan

Hi Ryan,
Unfortunately there's no way to do this, neither out-of-the-box nor with custom forms or any other tricks that we tried. Due to the method how tags are represented in the database, an entry has to exist before it can be tagged, so you have to go back to your Vibe entry and open it again to add tags.
With our tool ShareOnVibe we have managed to do this in one step. Perhaps this is interesting for your use case. You can use it to share content from your browser into Vibe and directly add global or personal tags to it. The only limitation with tagging documents is that you can't use ShareOnVibe for file uploads from your local data, but the documents should be linked somewhere on the web. Then, the Share Linked File feature adds the document to your Vibe folder, attached to an entry and already tagged.
If you want to take a look at it, we have a workspace with more information and test folders here https://vibe.novell.com/vibe/shareonvibe.
Hope this helps to find a solution for your use case.

Monika

  • Add Tags to Document removes spaces!

    Hi,
I have an untagged PDF from which I am trying to copy the text. The text pastes into InDesign with a paragraph mark at the end of each line.
If I add tags to document from Advanced>Accessibility, the copied text no longer has a paragrpah mark at the end of each line BUT all the spaces between words have been stripped out!
Does anyone know why this happens and is there anyway around it?
    Thanks,
    Simon Kemp

Content should not ever be deleted by adding tags, but it may appear so since - as you note - objects may go into hiding behind other objects. In theory you can bring them out of hiding by rearrange things in the Order pane, but I have much better luck using the Content pane - it provides a much finer level of control. If text is hidden behind a shaded box, for example, I will move the box above the text in the Content order, then usually convert the box to an artifact if it is not one already.
    Hope this helps.

  • Add Tags to Document tool put one object behind another or just deletes page content?

Using Acrobat XI Pro to make documents 508 compliant PDF. I've had a number of issues went using Add Tags to document option, it’s put one object behind another or deleting it all together. Also had issues when trying to adjust the reading order, content is moved or deleted. This PDF is created from InDesing CS5
Anybody know what I'm talking about or have any ideas about how to fix it? Thank

  • Structured Newbie: One red tag but document validates -- how can I fix this?

I'm a newbie to structured FrameMaker, am working with someone else's "known good" structured templates (7.2,) and have encountered a situation that I can't readily resolve.
    - If I use ESC vT to view the tags in one chapter file, the top-level tag is red and the word Chapter is underlined.
    - In Structure View, I can see no red tags or anomalies.
    - If I use Element > Validate > Entire Document, the file validates without error.
I can't see any obvious reason the tag should be red. It seems to conform in placement and usage to the same tag in other chapters in the book that display the tag normally (i.e. black, name not underlined).
What's going on? More to the point, how do I fix this?
(Sorry if this has been asked / answered elsewhere -- Forum Search wasn't all that helpful...)
    Cheers & thanks,
    Riley

    Russ:
Longer term, I have serious reservations about continuing to commit content to FrameMaker. Adobe may win back my love someday but it will take a very considerable effort on its part.
As such, and like my current structured-using customer, I see S'Frame as an interim step that faciliates an eventual escape rather than as a long-term solution unto itself...
    Cheers & take care,

  • How can I tag a document so it shows up in Spotlight searches?

I have a manuscript document, and I am trying to make it "searchable" (i.e., make it usable just as if it were a typeset document).
I would like to add text to it so that I can search in the document using Acrobat (or other pdf readers like Skim), and so I can find the document in Apple's Spotlight file-content searches. Is there any way to do that? In brief testing, it appears that a text comment does not show up in a Spotlight search, but I haven't tested this fully yet.

Open the document in Acrobat. Choose File > Document Properties.  Add text to the Subject, Author, or Keywords fields.  Save the file.  It might take spotlight a minute or two to index that data, but it should make future searches work and come up quickly.

  • Problem (manually) tagging document:  Tagging one text area tags all text in document

I've been having some trouble getting a inDesign document to tag properly in InDesign CS5.
The document has several different blocks of text, and I can see that they are each separate in the layer panel, and that they are not locked or grouped.
Yet, when I try tagging the document, it is treated as though all the text is in one element and the entire text of the document is tagged together.
The only element that seems to be able to be tagged separately is some text in the header, but it is not relevant for the XML I plan to export.
Any tips on getting this to work? I suspect the original file might have been created in a different version of InDesign, maybe that has some affect?

It sounds like you applied a tag to a portion of text in the flow of threaded frames, and all of the text within the threaded frames is now applied the story tag. This is normal and if you need to, you can create additional tags and apply within the story.

  • Document is not tagged???

Ok so the basics are if you have alt tags, document structure, tab order etc... but when converting the document to PDF some of those things go away easy fix is to open the newly created pdf in Acrobat Pro and go to Accessibilty-->Add Tags to Document. Now the problem is I have a xdp docment with fillable fields but the pdf never gets filled out by a user. All the data fields are binded to data coming from a portal (UI). So the end result is the user gets a copy of the data in a PDF format but how do I make that copy already tagged. All the alt tags and fields are tagged when document is in Livecycle Designer but when user finishes questions in UI they get a pdf copy and when u run that copy throught Accessibilty checker it shows error "document not tagged".

I think that is already checked as you can see, unless its I am in the wrong place.

  • How to enable Document is Tagged PDF

    Hi,
Kindly let me know how to enable "Document is Tagged PDF" using Scripting. For more references I have attached the screenshot.
    Thanks for looking into this.
    Regards,

    Hi,
Yes, the document is tagged for images and the option should be enabled as screenshot attached earlier. We need the document should be Tagged as "YES" in the Description (Document Properties).
And when we run the option "Add Tags to Document"  we lost the Alternate text information for the eps images.
    Kindly Advise!

  • Tag an UCM document into multiple records

What is the best way to tag a document into multiple records in UCM 11g ? In my webcenter application , a builder having site with many plots (say 100) wants a document in UCM to be tagged against some selective plots(say 1-10). He can again change the tagging (ie. he can add more plots or remove the tag from existing etc) . Each home owner will have either one or more plots . When the home owner logs in, he should be able to see that document which is tagged against that plot.
    Thanks ....

    Hi wilsonea,
You're probably thinking of InDesign's Data Merge function.  Here are two links that may help you decide if this is what you're thinking of doing:
    InDesign Help | Data merge
How to data merge in InDesign tutorial - YouTube
If this is what you're thinking of, you'll need the design laid out in InDesign and a CSV file.  The above YouTube video provides a decent instructions on this.
When you save your Excel file as a CSV file, I recommend that you also save it as a XLS (not XLSX) file too.  The CSV file will not save any formatting (like column widths and cell formatting), which makes it difficult to read the cell content whenever I have to use the file often.
    Hope this helps.  Cheers!

  • Tagging Documents

How to tag a document after saving it without tagging?

    You tag in the Finder.
    There are several methods.
    1. You can right click on the file icon and select your Tag
    2. You can drag the file/s onto the Tags in the Finder sidebar
    3. You can click on the Tags view at the top of the window and make changes there.
    4. Look in your Finder Menus

  • TOC in PDF does not include Link OBJR tags when exported from InDesign

I'm using InDesign CS6 to export a book file to a tagged PDF. When I run the accessibility checker in Acrobat 9, I get errors about items not being contained in the Structure tree. These missing items are links for the TOC and the Index page numbers. When I look at the tags, the Link OBJR tag is missing for these elements. I can't possibly manually add them all in. Other links e.g. cross-references, hyperlinks, automatically include these Link OBJR tags when exported. Why does the TOC and Index not do so?
I've asked this question in the InDesign Forum and no one seems to know. If I don't put these tags in, what does that mean for accessibility of the document?
    Thanks for your help

Glad you found something that worked.  For the future ... I found that if you create the PDF from BOOK and following these steps you can get the hyperlinks to automatically tag.  This will work if you are getting editable hyperlink boxes for the TOC -- I find that it is creating these (although I could swear it didn't earlier).  Anyway:
    1. Select all chapters in the book and create PDF with hyperlinks and bookmarks. Save as TEST.PDF
    2. Open the PDF and in the Pages Panel extract the page or pages containing the the TOC from the PDF.  Save this as TOCtest.pdf
    3. Delete the Tags from the TOCtest.pdf file --  in the Tags Panel, select the Root tag, right click and select delete
    4. Select Add Tags to Document to this same file.
    5. Examine the tags to see if all the OBJLINKs are tagged. Repeat steps 3 and 4 again (sometimes it doesn't autotag correctly the first time).  You may have to manually correct some of the structure -- headings and/or artifacts on these pages.
    6. Save again.
    7. Go back to the main document TEST.PDF -- delete the TOC page or pages from that document (assuming you didn't when you extracted.)
    8. On the pages panel, Insert from file and choose TOCtest.pdf -- insert before the first page.
    9. This will bring in the newly tagged TOC and it's tags HOWEVER the tags will be out of order in the tags panel. They will be at the bottom and you will need to find them and MOVE them where they should be.
Still more effort than you should have to but it worked for me.
Not sure how to record a bug with Adobe, but my testing in CS5 shows that this is NOT a new problem.  CS5.5 did the same thing for me.

  • Dunning Block per document number

    Hi SAP Guru,
    Need your help.
    Scenario is like this:
We are running the dunning letter and it always gives us no output.  Also, checked the Customer Master,  under Correspondence tab and field for Dunning Block is empty while payment methods under u201CPayment Transactionsu201D tab is also empty which is I think it should be to run the dunning.
Upon further investigation,  I found out that the invoices are tag as u201CDunning Blocku201D via FBL5N per document number.  Can you explain how this happened? And why does per document number is tagged as u201CDunning Blocku201D despite the correct set up in Customer Master.  And how can we delete the tag per document or is there any mass update for this.
    Appreciate your thoughts on this.
    Thanks,
    Julie

    Hi,
Thanks for the info.  As I checked if dunning block has been tagged in SO via Header --> Accounting Tab,  the field for Dunning block set to Freed for Dunning which I supposed should be.
    Any other solution on this.
    Thanks,
    Julie

  • PDF content disappears during tagging process

Have PDF document but no source document.  Automatic tagging step ("Add tags to document") in Acrobat 9 Pro causes some of the content (some but not all Paths) to disappear from the page visually and from the Content panel, and changes the positioning of some but not all of the text content.  Observation of the Content before tagging does not reveal any special feature of the Paths that disappear.  I am experienced in the use of the TouchUp Reading Order tool, but have not tried much manual tagging yet in this document.
Any suggestions about what might be wrong, and a work-around?
Especially useful would be a way to modify the content before auto tagging, because the work-arounds that we have considered so far are labor-intensive and error-prone.  (E.g., conversion of each problem page to an image, then using OCR to identify text content.)
This problem is not identical to another problem with disappearing content, namely, occasional visual disappearance of content upon creation of artifacts.  In that case, the content generally has not disappeared from the Content panel, but is hidden on the visual page by content that is rendered later.  The solution is to move the artifact objects in the Content panel, so that they are listed first on the page and are rendered first.

    Jasmin,

  • Acrobat: summarize highlighted text only in a new document?

    Hi everyone,
I have marked some passages with the "highlight text"-tool in a big pdf file and want to extract only the marked text in a new file. Is this possible?
So far I could only print a new file with information ABOUT the highlighted text, but not the highlighted text itself.
This means I get a file telling me only who highlighted the text and when he did that.
I'm using Adobe Acrobat X, but if you know another program that is able to do this please tell me!
    Thanks for your help!

Although i generally recommend people to user PDFMaker as it provides more features. But if you have already converted the files using PDF Printer, you can also creates tags. Try this:
    1). Open PDF in Acrobat.
    2). Click on Tools-> Accessibility.
    3). Add Tags to document.
4). Save the document and then try the steps I mentioned above. This resolves the issue related to Tags.
You can also do that in MS Word once the PDF is tagged.
1). Open MS Word. Click on Acrobat Tab
2). Click on Acrobat Comments->Import Comments from Acrobat.
3). Now Follow step 6,7,8, and 9 and you are done.
Once you get the comments exported to word you need to change the layout of those using features in word.
    Also, you can try this:
In the comments pane->Under Comments List-> Click on the bubbles and select Hide All Comments. No Click on the same bubble and select Type->Highlight. This will show you only Highlight annotations.
Now Click on Options(Box) and select create comment summary.
Under Comment summary select third radio button-> Comments Only.
For Include option -> Select Only the comments currentyly showing.
    Click Create Comments Summary
This will generate the PDF file with only highlight annotations.
Now you can easily export this to MS Word, Using SaveAs-> Microsoft Word-> Word Documents.
(This might create a problem if the highlighted tag is on a Scan document that is OCRed/ not OCRed. That may slightly change the layout). Otherwise its okey.
    Does that resolve the issue??
I am not sure if i followed the second issue of yours. Is update a problem or adding Acrobat tab in Word?
