Tapa Macbook Pro Retina

What if ingesting from DV tape to FC X using the Macbook Pro Retina which lacks a firewire port
I have used it quite a bit for connecting to external drives, etc. with no problems. Have not done a tape ingest as we don't have tape based cameras to work with any more. It appears to emulate a FW800 port perfectly.

Hi, I have this old MacBook Pro Retina I got a couple years ago, and part of its original charging kit's wires gave up right next to the MagSafe2 plug, so I purchased a new power adapter, and it appears to not be grounded at all.
When the notebook is charging, static on its metal body is so strong it completely disrupts any work. I cannot use trackpad almost at all, it won't register taps and the coursor is jumping all over the screen even if I don't move my finger at all. To use the notebook I have to keep one of my palms on the metal part of it, and even then after a while my fingers get a little burned on the trackpad, which is inconvenient to say the least.
Anyone have any ideas, how can I can fix this or at least reduce the effects?
I'm in Russia, it's 220v here, power outlets with 2 plugs (no 3rd metal one for grounding).
I've read a bunch of articles about grounding outlets, but they all suggest to bury a metal cable into some soil, which is not possible as I live on 21st floor.
I figured it's the new power adapter's fault, because the old one doesn't act up like that (but I am reluctant to keep using it because its inner metal wiring in places is not covered by plastic anymore, and I fear it might cause a short circuit or something).
When I purchased the new adapter, I was assured it's completely original, but now I suspect it might be a counterfeit, so I would just have purchased another new one, but kinda afraid it will not be original too and will cause the same problems. It keeps the green light on for a while after I unplug it from the notebook. The scratched part is extension from the old adapter.

Facetime and iMessage on Macbook Pro Retina display slow after Yosemite 10.10.3 Update
Hi
I recently updated my Macbook Pro Retina display to Yosemite 10.10.3 update. I see that the Facetime and iMessage has become relatively very slow. Like for example when someone calls on my phone it takes like more than 15 seconds + to show up on my macbook. Earlier it used to be like instant!
I started seeing this problem on Yosemite 10.10.3 update only. Also the same is the story with iMessage. When I get an SMS or an iMessage from my friends it takes like a good 30 seconds + to show up on my macbook pro.
Just for your information, this is the version of macbook i am using
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013)
2.4 GHz Intel Core i5
8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
251GB Flash storage
As Suggested by someone I also tried RESETTING my computer's PRAM. That didn't seem to help either. Can anyone help. If it is a genuine bug in Apple Yosemite, I'd like to file a bug in the community.
Regards
ShreyasHi Barney,

So at the third one, I decided to do a clean install of Mavericks (I did it on monday).
Since this clean install no kernel panic, until today...
A fourth kernel panic (I was writing an e-mail in Mail)... Here is the report :

So now I am a little worried. Do you have any ideas?
The deadline for a refund was the 17... Do you think that in such a case I would be eligible for an exchange?
Thank you very much for your help.

How can I connect my svideo output from my camcorder to my Macbook pro retina?
How cn I connect the s video output from my camcorder to my 13" macbook pro retina?
Buy a video to USB converter.
Buy a more expensive video to Firewire converter (it may give better quality).
Find an older mini DV camera with 'video in' to make transfers to tape to capture from. -
Can't pair my Macbook Pro Retina to my iPhone 5S for Handoff
Bluetooth is on, I'm running Yosemite, iOS8.1, followed directions to pair my phone to my Macbook. Handoff is enabled on both my Macbook's system prefs and also on my iPhone 5s. When I click "Pair" my phone displays a message with a code, so I accept the code on my phone, then the Bluetooth window says they are "connected", but a few seconds later it says "disconnected" and it fails.
I can't get this Handoff thing to work. I've restarted both my Macbook and iPhone 5s but what else am I missing?
Here's what happens:
And then...
And my iPhone alerts me to pair with the code. I tap to pair on my iPhone and then...
It says it's CONNECTED... but.... in two seconds this happens:
"NOT CONNECTED"!
I'm running iOS 8.1 on my iPhone 5S and Yosemite 10.10. Bluetooth is enabled on both devices. I've rebooted my Macbook twice and my iPhone twice and tried this process all over again but same results. Pairing fails. Again, I have Handoff enabled on both my iPhone and my Macbook Pro Retina.
Am I missing something? Thanks in advance!
JayCorrect, as there is no supported protocol to do so.

Macbook Pro Retina Kernel Attack
I have a Late 2013 Macbook Pro Retina 15" that I purchased from Apple * Refurbished at the end of January this year. While browsing the internet it had a random Kernel attack. I'll post the report below, just wondering if anyone might be able to help me figure out what might have caused it. I've never had a computer have a kernel attack before so no idea how to really figure out what caused it.
Thanks so much.

Macbook Pro Retina + Windows 8 Questions
First: I know that Bootcamp doesnt have any Windows 8 drivers yet. I know that Windows 7 drivers will do temporarily.
In a month time, I will be getting a Macbook Pro retina. 13" base model. This would be my very first mac. I chose this mac because portability is a major factor for my everyday need. Im always on the move. I know the storage isn't enough but I will buy myself an external Hard drive. Depends on the budget. I will be using this laptop for not so heavy work. Mainly i will be studying Objective C and C++. Something for a free time self study developing. Reason why im putting windows in it, its because i need visual studio c++ for studying ( feel free to recommend any other application for c++ designed for mac). I chose windows 8 because the pro version is 60$ at my local retail.(I know how to do clean install without the requirements).
My questions to those who successfully installed Win8:
1. What are the issues you encountered and how did you solved it?
2. How's the performance? Laggy?
Thanks in advance. The update to boot camp is now available!
Just installed Windows 8.1 Pro to my MacBook Pro, Retina, Mid 2012, OS X 10.8.5: Memory 16GB 1600MHz DDR3
After going through the usual process from boot camp, then installed windows and the support drivers... the trackpad rt click did not work. I had to then go download the boot camp again from windows 8 using the url below and ran the set up.exe from the boot camp folder you can download from below. Run it within windows 8.
http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1638
Boot Camp Support Software 5.0.5033
This solved the Trackpad Right Clicking issue (not working) as well as tapping.
The wireless and network connectivity and keyboard brightness and speakers issues where resolved as well. The Boot camp support software enabled a boot camp control panel available in the windows 8 system tray and from there you can enable the track pad to tap and use the secondary click. -
Scratch on the Edge of the Aluminium cover on my Macbook Pro Retina 13"
I have a Macbook Pro Retina 13" just bought it in October 2013. I found there is a scratch on the edge of the aluminium cover. I am not asking for any replacement. But, is there any way to remove the scratch since it scratch my hand and it's possible my child will get hurt from this scratch.
No, not possible
If it "hurts your hand" its not really a scratch but a gouge or a BUR
removing a bur or a gouge is easy enough, the problem is youll be left with a nasty shiney spot, .....are you prepared to do that?
youd mask off the area with painter tape and take a thumbnail size of ultra-fine sandpaper and remove the bur or gouge just enough to not make it sharp
however this will make the spot look much larger and much worse
Having polished metal for many many years, I can tell you matte aluminum is extremely hard to buff out
Remove the scratch? EASY
matte aluminum, very very hard
1. remove scratch
blend it
raise it
blend it out
lower the whole blended area
These are professional skills and if you TRY to remove the scratch, youll make it look horrible, a big shiney spot. -
Macbook pro retina doesn't turn on for a day or two
Macbook Pro Retina 13-inch Late 2012
2.5GHz Intel Core i5
OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)
So this is a weird one... I recently purchased a used Macbook Pro Retina and the previous owner had upgraded the hard drive for a bigger size. My macbook worked great for a few days but then one night I closed it and the next day when I opened it, it would not turn on. I tried rebooting the battery (SHIFT+CONTROL+OPTION and POWER) then hitting power but NOTHING. At one point, I heard a clicking sound when I would leave the power button down. Then... two days later I push the power button just because and BAM! The screen comes on. (I didn't hear the start up sound, and it wasn't like it restarted.) It was as if the screen brightness was all the way down but then came back. (I kept trying to adjust that too before it turned on).
I don't understand!!! Two days later, same thing happened. Then again, it turned back on a day later.
The only thing I noticed that was weird was when I connected it to my tv with HDMI cable. The laptop screen would freeze and get distorted and I would have to force a restart (the black screen with the apple would appear and the loading bar as if I would updating the software).
I'm soooo confused and I don't want this to keep happening. I would appreciate any type of help or advice!!Hi RACan2,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that your MacBook Pro has had some strange startup and power issues. In this situation, To begin troubleshooting, I would recommend reading over and working through the attached article.

How can I open Adobe Bridge CS6 in high resolution on my MacBook Pro Retina display?
How can I open Adobe Bridge CS6 in high resolution on my MacBook Pro Retina display? When I click Get Info, the "Open in Low Resolution" box is marked and locked. How can I unmark this box? I currently run 10.9.1. I can open Adobe Photoshop CS6 in high resolution without any problem. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.
There is no such thing. In CS6 only PS itself is Retina compatible. You would have to use CC for full Retina support.

How do I use a NORMAL headset (dual 3.5mm) on my new Macbook pro retina? No usb ports available and headset buddy adapter doesn't work.Hi Auracles1,
Here's a pretty discussion regarding wireless printing with this device and a Mac.
http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-networking-and-wireless/HP-Officejet-6500-E 709n-wireless-issue/m-p/258853
I have a similar OfficeJet and it was a multi-step process. (1) Install printer drivers on the machine, (2) Add the printer queue in print & fax, (3) Run the "setup wizard" from the disc for wireless printing. -

How do I use my Macbook pro retina display as a monitor for a PC?
MacQueries wrote:

Unfortunately, that is not possible. The computer only can "output" your display image, it cannot "input" an image from an external computer and display it on your MacBook's retina display.
