Task API - Completed Tasks for Creator

Hi,
I started to investigate the BPEL TaskManager Service following the Steps of Tutorial 6. That works great, no problem there.
Then I followed Tutorial 7 to invoke the BPEL process from a Java Application. That also works fine.
Finally I used the TaskManager API to retrieve all Tasks owned by a creator.
So I used the following code:
ITask[] creatorTasks = worklist.listTasksByCreator("TaskSample");
System.out.println( " **** Creator Tasks ****");
for (int j = 0; j < creatorTasks.length; j++) {
ITask thisTask = creatorTasks[j];
System.out.println("Task Title " + thisTask.getTitle() + " Status: " + thisTask.getStatus());
What happens is that the API is giving me only the tasks that are in the "Active" Status and I want also the ones that are in the "Completed" Status.
However with the following code, the completed tasks appear:
ITask[] allTasks = worklist.listTasks(1,100);
System.out.println( " **** All Tasks ****");
for (int j = 0; j < allTasks.length; j++) {
ITask thisTask = allTasks[j];
System.out.println("Task Title " + thisTask.getTitle() + " Status: " + thisTask.getStatus());
So my question is: does "listTasksByCreator" only gives the "Active" tasks or is this a bug ?
I will be waiting for your answer.
Thanks,
Claudio.

Hi Brooke,
I recommend to change the $item.percentcomp, $item.created, $item.status and $item.id to be like this: $item[" percentcomp"], $item[" created"], $item[" status"] and $item[" id"] in the command.
Please also make sure that the percentcomp or status is the internal name of the fields.

  • Difference in completion deadline for tasks which are parallel for each

    Hello Everybody,
    We have critical problem wherein we have set a completion deadline for a task against a human activity which is parallel for each but in the runtime, a difference of 1 second is appearing for the parallel tasks generated.
    We have raised a COMPLETIONDEADLINEISCRITICALEXCEPTION and if the deadline is met we are executing an ABAP RFC for auto approval.
    The automated step for executing the RFC is also parallel for each. When the tasks are created only one gets cancelled on completion of deadline while others get suspended. I am assuming this is happening because of the difference of 1 sec in the completion deadline for parallel tasks in the runtime.
    This is very critical and i request all you to please provide your inputs.
    Thanks & Regards
    Gaurang Dayal

    Hi Guarang,
    Do you expect that all the parallel tasks are instantiated at exactly the same point in time? That is an unrealistic expectation....
    First off, the Par Foreach doesn't spawn multiple threads, it executes each 'parallel' action in sequence in the same thread. Parallel in this context means all the actions (Task initiation) will occur and a process token will stay at each Task. For the token to pass the subsequent merge ALL the parallel tasks must be complete (all tokens must arrive at the merge). So you won't ever get all the tasks initiated at EXACTLY the same time.
    Further, even if the BPM kernel did spawn multiple threads (and there are very good reasons it won't!) it is rather unlikely that in these different threads you would for sure get all the initiations at EXACTLY the same time.
    If it's important that you get the task completion deadline the same in all tasks you should get a suitable timestamp in a mapping step which precedes the split and then set the deadline explicitly using that value when the task is initiated - i.e use a specific time value not an offset time value.
    An FWIW you should read and understand the documentation on Boundary Events so that you can know what to expect when one is fired and you know how to handle them.
    regards, Nick

  • How to retrieve all the tasks for a UserView with the worklist api 10.1.3.1

    Hi,
    I have defined a custom view for user jcooper. The view just displays all the current uncompleted tasks for jcooper.
    I want to use the worklist api to retrieve all the tasks in the view. I first tried it with the following function call:
    taskQueryService.queryViewTasks(workflowContext,viewName, null, null, 0, 0);
    assuming that the viewId in the corresponding java-doc corresponds to the name of the view..However this doesn't work and the method returns a null reference. So viewId is something different than a viewName. Because I cannot find the corresponding viewId for my view (not looked in the db yet, but I don't want to use these ids in my app), I tried the method:
    client.getUserMetadataService().getUserTaskViewList(workflowContext, Partcipant participant);
    However I did not find a method to retrieve a Partipant instance for jcooper in the worklflow api documentation.
    My question now is if someone can help me out to retrieve all the tasks for a specific view. I should be possible I think...
    Thanks!
    Kind regards,
    -Tom

    The second argument (Participant) was added to handle the use case where one user such as an admin or manager needs to retrieve user metadata of another user (offcourse with the required security checks). We will try to do a future enhancement such that if the pariticipant is passed as null then we will assume the metadata is to be retrieved for the workflow context user.
    For now you can define a simple method to create a participant from a workflow context as follows and pass this as an argument to the UserMetadataService call:
    private Participant createParticipant(workflowContext)
    Participant participant = new oracle.bpel.services.workflow.common.model.ObjectFactory().createParticipant();
    participant.setName(workflowContext.getUser();
    participant.setRealm("jazn.com");
    participant.setType("USER");
    return participant;
    // code to retrieve task list...
    UserViewList views = client.getUserMetadataService().getUserTaskViewList(
    workflowContext, createParticipant(workflowContext))
    ...

    sounds bug to me. NPE should be correctly handled with appropriate error
    message. Please contact BEA support to log the call.

  • Workflow creating task for user in Outlook

    Is it possible to create a task in outlook for a specific user via workflow? My Boss want to have every user informed via mail that there is a new element in a list (that works fine) and one User should have a task (even better a complete to do list) in
    his outlook task tab.

    Hi Elite,
    Based on your description, my understanding is that you want to create the tasks for users in Outlook with workflow.
    I recommend to use workflow to create tasks in a task list in SharePoint and then sync the task list with outlook by clicking the button Connect to Outlook in the ribbon of the task list.
    After that, the tasks created in the task list will be automatically synced to Outlook.

  • Create a Task, for use in "Deferred Task"

    I am in the processing of creating Deferred Tasks for my Update-User workflow.
    I know how to create these easily. My problem is : the actual "Task" itself, which will be called upon from the Workflow.

  • One SendMail task for multiple sequence containers

    Hi,
    Quick question, hope someone can help.
    I have multiple sequence containers in my package.  I only want to have one sendmail task for the failure/completion of the package.  If I put the sendmail task in the last sequence container and the first seqence fails, the sendmail task will
    not be reached and therefore, no email will be sent out.
    Is there a way to have one sendmail task for all the sequence containers and allow it to send mail regardless of what sequence fails/completes?
    Many thanks
    P

    Hi,
    Just as Visakh suggested, we can use Event Handlers with Send Mail Task when an error or a warning occurs or when a task fails in the package. For more details, please refer to the following steps:
    Go to Event Handlers tab, choose OnError in the Event handler drop-down list.
    Drag a Send Mail Task.
    Configure SmtpConnection and other details except MessageSource.
    Go to Expressions tab and then expand this, then click on browse button this will open Expressions designer.
    Choose MessageSource under Property window and then again.
    Click on browse button this will open the second editor, the Expression Builder.
    Then substitute values in Expression window like below:
    "XYZ Job Failed"+"!"+"\n"+"Error Details:"+"\n"+"On Server – "+ @[System::MachineName]+"\n\n"+"Package Name
    –+@[System::PackageName]+".dtsx" +"\n\n"+"Task Name(Task where job failed ) – "+ @[System::SourceName]+"\n\n"+"Task Type(SSIS Component)
    – "+@[System::SourceDescription]+"\n\n"+ "Error Description -"+@[System::ErrorDescription]+"\n\n"+
    "Error Code – "+(DT_WSTR, 12) @[System::ErrorCode]+"\n\n"

  • Failures  were detected while initiating start task for application 'em'

    Hello there,
    I'm facing a problem here that I'm not able to resolve it.
    This is the third time I reinstalled the WebLogic Sever (WebLogic Server Version: 10.3.5.0) and I'm getting the same error.
    After installing the WebLogic Server, everything goes fine, I can access /em, /console, /analytics.
    The problem is when I create a WebService (with JDeveloper Studio 11.1.2.3.0). After deploying the WebService and restart WebLogic Server, the /em deployment can't start.
    I get this error while accessing to localhost:7001/em:
    Error 404--Not Found
    From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:
    10.4.5 404 Not Found
    The server has not found anything matching the Request-URI. No indication is given of whether the condition is temporary or permanent.
    If the server does not wish to make this information available to the client, the status code 403 (Forbidden) can be used instead. The 410 (Gone) status code SHOULD be used if the server knows, through some internally configurable mechanism, that an old resource is permanently unavailable and has no forwarding address.
    When I try to start it from the console I get this error (it doesn't matter if I start it Servicing all requests or Servicing only administration requests):

  • Adjust/Accept task for Invoice

    Hi,
    We are  implementing Process controlled workflow in SRM7.01. for Invoice(BUS2205). we have the requirement to send the invoice to creator after rejection to edit or accept the rejection. But when I checked there is no standard task available for Adjust /Accept Invoice.
    Is it possible to include this functionality by creating a custom task for Invoice and modifying the standard workflow?
    Has anyone come across this requirement?
    Or is there any limitation in including this functionality?
    Thanks,
    Sivagami

    Hi,
    Yes, this task is not developed in the standard yet.
    In the following note you can see for each documents this functionality is available:

    Maybe some other forum members can help you on this regard.

  • Adding buildtime task for trim spaces

    Hi,
    how can I add buildtime task for removing whitespaces in AquaLogic 6.0? I know that I can set runtime param
    <param-name>trimSpaces</param-name>
    but it is not enough for me and impact on performance is unknown.
    thanks in advance

    Hi.
    Yes you can. Build a Task Flow consuming Spaces API (WebService or REST) and setting custom properties to it.
    Steps that you have to follow is:
    - Use API to create your group Space:
    //create the Space
    GroupSpaceWSMetadata gsMetadata =
    client.createGroupSpace("Databases", "Databases" "A community for people interested in databases", "databases, oracle", "CommunityofInterest");
    //print the Space GUID to provide confirmation of creation
    System.out.println("GUID: " + gsMetadata.getGuid());- You can add programmatically custom attributes:
    //create the custom attribute
    client.setCustomAttribute("Databases", "Vendors", "List of vendors", "java.lang.String", "Oracle, IBM");Code is from WebCenter Spaces API off doc: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E25178_01/webcenter.1111/e10148/jpsdg_spaces.htm#CIHIJBIG

  • Error while creating a task for creating an generic task  /app/dac/CustomSQ

    Hi ,
    I have created a sql file in DAC server /app/dac/CustomSQLs/ ,just to fire an update sql in database
    In DAC task tab i have created a task with the following:
    Command for incremental load :/app/dac/CustomSQLs/DBNameBeforeLoad.sql
    Primary source :flatfileconnection
    target source:DBCONNECTION_OLAP
    Execution type:SQL FILE
    Task phase:GENERAL
    I created subject area and assembled ,then created a Execution plan.
    When i try to execute this EP ,it shows the following error in DAC log:
    ANOMALY INFO::: Error while creating a task for creating an generic task /app/dac/CustomSQLs/DBNameBeforeLoad.sql
    MESSAGE:::/app/dac/CustomSQLs/DBNameBeforeLoad.sql - invalide template name!
    EXCEPTION CLASS::: com.siebel.analytics.etl.etltask.TaskInitializationException
    com.siebel.analytics.etl.etltask.SQLFileTask.doInit(SQLFileTask.java:69)
    com.siebel.analytics.etl.etltask.GenericTaskImpl.init(GenericTaskImpl.java:194)
    Does my above configuration is correct ..?

    verify the following settings:
    1. mapping of ECC plant and storage location and logical system number with the appropriate availability group code since this links the stock types in EWM to ECC org elements (SPRO -> EWM -> Interfaces -> ERP Integration -> Goods movement)
    2. ensure the availability group configuration is correct (SPRO -> EWM -> GR Process -> Configure availability group for putaway) - check all applicable nodes in this configuration since the availability group code is assigned in the pertinent storage types

  • Schedule a task for a given period of time

    Hi,
    any body has an idea how to schedule a task for a specified period of time. e.g A program keeps on asking for your name to be input for an hour and then start doing something else?
    /bob

    hi friend,
    Why don't you try using a TIMER. Try using this code
    Timer timer = new Timer((TIMER), new ActionListener()
         public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent ae)
    // perform your task here...
    timer.setInitialDelay(TIMER);
    timer.setRepeats(true);
    timer.start();
    I think this will work fine.
    Bye,
    Ravi.

  • Doing the same task for different data.. Do I need Queues? How to use them if yes?

    Hello all,
    I have created a VI which is getting data from some FTP server and then after comparing with the HDD specified folder copy the missing data from the FTP ... Description is also in the VI. There are few things I need to ask.
    1) The email sending VI gives error 1172..What could be the reason .. is it firewall.. or is there any mistake in the code?
    2) As you people are experts so I really like any suggestion to improve the VI..
    3) The most important .. Currently this VI can only perform the whole task for one FTP folder. Actually my task is I need to check for 4 different FTP folder on different servers..its not 4 different folder in one FTP .. its 4 different FTP.Now my question is how I can do this: First it compare and copy from FTP1.Then FTP2... and so on.. How can I change the data for the cluster for different FTPs? Do I need to use queues? If yes how because I don't have any experience with queues.
    I will really appreciate is someone can either provide me the relevant example or can give me some idea.
    The main VI is the 'TASK START'.VI please find the attached files.
    Thanks

    Hi Peter,
    Thank you very much for your reply. I have understood your idea but there are few problems.
    Please see the attached "Final test.vi".. actually my top level vi should be like this.. due to this reason I need to develop the cluster like one with name "Settings" as shown in Enum FTP events.vi.. In this cluster all the data types are not constants (but can be set as constants)  and further all of them are not of same type so whenever I try to create as you created I have got error, wire broken..so what do you think i should do.. In this cluster there are different types of data .. string, path, numeric, array and a cluster with name file properties also... can't figure out what to do..I know things are little scattered and wiered but due to lack of experience, I guess, I am now a little bit confused for this matter. I
    hope guys here in the forum will help me as you guys always did.

  • Manually execute a povisioning task for a user in OIM 11g

    Experts,
    In OIM 11g, I would like to execute a resource provisioning task for a user thru OIM admin console.
    In OIM 10g, when we select a resource profile for a user, it used to show the list tasks that are executed. There we can add a new task to run manually there.
    How to do the same in OIM 11g. in OIM 11g, it is not even showing the lists of tasks executed during provisioning.
    Please let me know.

    If you are talking about manually adding the provisioning tasks to a user for a particular resource, then you can go to the resource profile of the user, select the particular resource -> click the 'Resource History' button on the right corner and from there you can manually add the tasks.
