Task flow diagram

I need a solution on the following topic :
User will draw a task flow diagram in the screen .Flow will be first with Start then task 1 then task 2 .task 2 can have one child task 3 .task 2 will have another child task4.task 3 will have child task5 .task 3 will have child task6.task 4 and task 5 will have child task 6 and then end.USer will draw the diagram in the screen and I have to capture the data into the database so that I can get the same disgram once more in the screen.User can add any child ,delete any child while building the flow diagram.

You could try to put the graph into DOM tree and the store it in DB as text or serialized object (i.e. Document). The structure might be like this:
<graph name="some name">
    <nodes>
        <node>
            <unique_id>
            <name></name>
            <whatever_info_you need></.....>
        </node>
     </nodes>
     <edges>
        <edge>
            <unique_id>
             <from>node_id</from
             <to>node_id</to>
etc.It's just a very brief idea, but might work for you if you're sentenced' to write your own graph engine.

  • How to create a page-definition for bounded task-flow?

    I should be able to create a page definition which declare all bindings required for a bounded task flow.
    How do I do it in JDeveloper 11.1.1.2?
    How do I navigate to the page definition when I am in the bounded task flow "Diagram tab"?

    I found out the following:
    1. To create a page-definition file for a bounded task flow
    Right click on the "Default" activity (not a view activity) of the bounded task flow, select "Create Page Definition" from the context menu.
    2. To go the page-definition file for a bounded task flow
    Right click on the "Default" activity (not a view activity) of the bounded task flow, select "Go to Page Definition" from the context menu.
    My new question is:
    In JDeveloper 11.1.1.2, how do I create page-definition for a bounded-task-flow if all activities are view activities (page fragments) ?
    How does JDeveloper I want to create page-definition for the task-flow instead of create page-definition of the page fragment or the page?

  • Task Flow based on Human Task

    Hi,
    I have created a Task Flow based on Human Task in the Ui project. The task flow is auto -generated with the taskdetails.jspx as the default activity. If I try to include a ExceuteWithParams method in the task flow as the default activity the page gives a 500 Error in the workliist application.
    Can I no have a method activity as the default activity in this task flow.
    Thanks

    Are you trying to set "Create with parameters" as default task flow activity ? in that case open the the task flow diagram , right click "Create with parameters" data control -> Mark Activity -> Default Activity.

  • How do I drag and drop an action onto a task flow?

    In How to pass View Object bind variable from ADF page John states that
    You should also consider dragging-and-dropping the executeWithParams operation on your task flow and wiring it to occur before your page instead of putting it in the page definition of the page itself - this way it is more clear what is happening, and is the recommended approach for 11g apps. When you drag-and-drop the operation, you can use the dialog to bind the parameter to your page-flow-scoped variable by supplying the proper EL there.
    How can I drag and drop the executeWithParams method onto a task flow. I am using 11.1.1.5.0 on LINUX?
    I'm presuming I a need a method action in my page flow.
    I have the following action defined in my page def file:
    <action IterBinding="localizedCustomerHierarchyViewIterator"
    id="executeQueryWithParamsForLocalizedCustomerHierarchyView"
    InstanceName="BusinessRulesAMDataControl.LocalizedCustomerHierarchyView"
    DataControl="BusinessRulesAMDataControl" RequiresUpdateModel="true"
    Action="executeWithParams">
    <NamedData NDName="RootEntityId"
    NDValue="#{pageFlowScope.recommendationRule.customerEntityId"
    NDType="java.lang.Long" NDOption="3"/>
    <NamedData NDName="Language"
    NDValue="#{pageFlowScope.recommendationRule.language}"
    NDType="java.lang.String" NDOption="3"/>
    </action>

    In summary, it appears you need the following artifacts in order to initialize a view object from parameters before rendering a .jsff view that relies on that view
    1) a method-call in task flow.xml file:
    <method-call id="executeWithParamsLocalizedCustomerHierarchyView">
    <method id="__5">#{bindings.executeWithParamsLocalizedCustomerHierarchyView.execute}</method>
    <outcome id="__12">
    <fixed-outcome id="__9">initializedLocalizedCustomerHierarchy</fixed-outcome>
    </outcome>
    </method-call>
    2) a control flow rule in the task flow .xml file whose source is (1) and whose destination is the view for which you want to intiialize a view object that supports an iterator that is bound to a list, tree, etc.
    3) an entry for the execute action in the databindings.cpx file
    <page path="/WEB-INF/[email protected]calizedCustomerHierarchyView"
    usageId="oracle_apps_br_view_RecommendationRulePFPageDef"/>
    4) the page def must be defined in the databindings.cpx file
    5) the page def needs to define action and iterator and list (or otherwise) that is used in UI.
    <iterator id="localizedCustomerHierarchyViewIterator"
    Binds="LocalizedCustomerHierarchyView"
    DataControl="BusinessRulesAMDataControl" RangeSize="25" Refresh="never">
    <sortCriteria>
    <sort attribute="Level" ascending="true"/>
    </sortCriteria>
    </iterator>
    <action IterBinding="localizedCustomerHierarchyViewIterator"
    id="executeWithParamsLocalizedCustomerHierarchyView"
    InstanceName="BusinessRulesAMDataControl.LocalizedCustomerHierarchyView"
    DataControl="BusinessRulesAMDataControl" RequiresUpdateModel="true"
    Action="executeWithParams">
    <NamedData NDName="RootEntityId"
    NDValue="#{pageFlowScope.recommendationRule.customerEntityId}"
    NDType="java.lang.Long"/>
    <NamedData NDName="Language"
    NDValue="#{pageFlowScope.recommendationRule.language}"
    NDType="java.lang.String"/>
    </action>
    <list ListOperMode="navigation"
    IterBinding="localizedCustomerHierarchyViewIterator"
    id="customerLocalizedEntityHierarchyList">
    <AttrNames>
    <Item Value="EntityName"/>
    </AttrNames>
    </list>
    6) a backing bean that provides the functions to initialize the parameters for execution
    The easiest way to get most of this is to drag the ExecuteWithParams from within the view in the datacontrols panel right onto the task flow diagram. The downside is that you are left with some pretty poorly named artifacts...

  • Understanding task flow templates?

    Hi gang
    I was hoping somebody could clue me in on Task Flow Templates (TFT) please within JDev 11g? I'm reading section 17.8 of the Fusion Dev 11g Guide as below:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/web.1111/b31974/taskflows_complex.htm#insertedID8
    Is the purpose of the TFT for a task flow much like a Java interface is to a class, such that the Activities defined within the TFT have to actually be implemented in the task flow itself?
    ...or...
    Is the purpose of the TFT to add consistant functionality to a task flow. For instance if we always wanted a "train" task flow to have an opening page and closing page in the train, we could add this to the TFT, and the relating train task flow would inherit these?
    Either way within a task flow using a TFT, I don't see any visual indicator that the task flow is based on the TFT, and I don't see any activities from the TFT in the task flow diagram either? Do I have to add them manually or am I missing something?
    Hope you can help.
    Cheers,
    CM.

    Hi Chris,
    I'm always glad to share knowledge.
    You guessed right with the global navigation. That is why and how we use the TFT.
    The authorization & authentication thing is kind of a relict from the old jdev 903 days .
    A couple of years back the company I'm working for as a consultant ask me to build an authorization & authentication framework using jdev and bc4j.
    Jaas or ADF Security was not an option back then, so I designed the framework around some DB tables (kind of DBLoginModule).
    This framework is still in use, because it offers a nice UI, is expendable and has all functionality the company needs.
    One of the features is that we can fine grain the level of security down to fields on a page a user can see (or what he can see). In case of a security violation we use the TFT to navigate to the right error page, which in some cases allows the user to get more rights by using a different password (like run as administrator) for this specific access.
    So it's kind of a global menu which is not visible to the user directly but only when he hits a wall.

  • Problem with ADF security and task flow calls

    Hi.
    I am using JDeveloper 11.1.2.0.0.
    I encountered a problem when tried to apply ADF security to my application.
    The way to reproduce the problem:
    1. Create new Fusion Web Application;
    2. Import Business Components from Tables from any existing schema and add at least one table to the ApplicationModule.
    3. Create "welcome page" (for instance, welcome.jsf). Add a button with fixed action outcome "test".
    4. Create test page, for instance, test.jsf. Drag and drop any view object from Data Controls onto the page and create a form with navigation controls. Add a button with fixed action outcome "return".
    5. Create bounded task flow, name it "test", drag and drop our test page on it - the page will be the default activity. Add a task flow return activity. Add a control flow case from the default view activity to the return activity, set From Outcome property to "return". So our return button should cause the task flow to exit.
    6. Open adfc-config.xml in diagram mode and place our welcome page on it. Then drag and drop the test task flow to create a task flow call activity. Add a control flow case from welcome page to task flow call activity, set the From Outcome property to "test". So our test button should call the test task flow.
    7. Configure application to run the unbounded task flow starting with Welcome view activity.
    At this point all works as expected: when application runs, the welcome page is displayed with test button. Pressing the test button results in displaying the test page, return button leads back to the welcome page.
    Now let's configure ADF Security.
    Run the ADF Security configuration wizard, choose ADF Authentication and Authorization.
    On the second page select Form-Based Authentication, check the Generate Default Pages flag.
    On the third page choose No Automatic Grants.
    On the next page keep the Redirect Upon Successful Authentication unchecked. Press Finish.
    Open jazn-data.xml to configure roles, users and resource grants:
    1. Create application role test-role.
    2. Grant the test-role privileges to view the test task flow.
    3. Create user and grant him the test-role.
    Now we have the public available welcome page and the test page with restricted access.
    When application runs, the welcome page is displayed as expected. Pressing the test button redirect us to auto-generated login page. After successful authorization the test page is displayed. But nothing happens if we click now the return button for the first time. When we click the return button once more, the application crushes with Error-500 and message "Target Unreachable, identifier 'bindings' resolved to null". The exact error trace depends on UI control bindings, but looks like this:
    javax.el.PropertyNotFoundException: //C:/Users/DUDKIN/AppData/Roaming/JDeveloper/system11.1.2.0.38.60.17/o.j2ee/drs/Test1/ViewControllerWebApp.war/test.jsf @10,120 value="#{bindings.Id.inputValue}": Target Unreachable, identifier 'bindings' resolved to null

    @Lovin_JV_941794
    The welcome page is public available since it does not have appropriate PageDef file.
    Login page comes not from the welcome page, it comes after attempt to access the test page. So after the login succeeded the test page appears, because redirect to welcome page after successful login is not configured. I do not need to return the welcome page at this moment, I need to go to the test page.
    It seems the task flow call stack to be destroyed after redirect to login page.

  • How to pass a parameter to a bounded task flow?

    Hi,
    We are facing issue while passing parameter from a bounded task flow to another bounded task flow and then showing the passed parameter in a jspx page.
    We have a caller task flow with following component:
    1. A jspx page
    - In this jspx we have a text box have its value as #{pageFlowScope.inputvalue}.
    - Also we have a command button which has its "Action" as the control flow that leads to the "called" task flow.
    2. A bounded task flow named "called".
    So, we call the "called" task flow on the button click in the jspx page.
    Also, in called taskflow we have a jspx page where we are using a output label to show the parameter passed from caller task flow to the called task flow.
    We performed the following steps to set the parameter passing from caller task flow to the called task flow.
    1. Select the input text component on the JSF page.
    2. In the Property Inspector, enter a value for the input text component. You can specify the value as an EL expression, for example #{pageFlowScope.inputValue}.
    3. In the Application Navigator, double-click the name of the called task flow to open its diagram.
    4. Click the Overview tab for the called task flow.
    5. Click Parameters and expand the Input Parameter Definition node.
    6. Click the Add icon next to Input Parameter Definition.
    7. In the Name field, enter a name for the parameter, for example, inputParm1.
    8. In the Value field, enter an EL expression where the parameter value is stored and referenced, for example, #{pageFlowScope.inputValue}.
    9. In the Class field, enter a Java class for the input parameter definition. If you leave the Class field empty, its value is by default implicitly set to java.lang.String.
    10. In the editor, open the diagram for the calling task flow.
    11. In the Application Navigator, drag the called ADF bounded task flow and drop it on top of the task flow call activity that is located on the calling task flow. Dropping a bounded task flow on top of a task flow call activity in a diagram automatically creates a task flow reference to the bounded task flow.
    12. In the Property Inspector for the task flow call activity, click Parameters and expand the Input Parameters section.
    13. Enter a name that identifies the input parameter.
    14. Enter a parameter value, for example, #{pageFlowScope.parm1}.
    Now when we try to fetch the value of parameter using #{pageFlowScope.parm1} in the jspx in called taskflow, its not giving the desired value.
    We even tried to set the to and from parameter of the jspx in called askflow. But no success.
    Can anyone let us know if we are doing smething wrong or exact steps to configure passing of parameters to a bounded task flow and retrieving it in a jspx page will also help.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Tushar,
    In step# 14, the value should be "#{pageFlowScope.inputValue}" (should be the same as the value in step#2) .

  • ADF Task Flow: Using Task Flow Call as Application Entry Point

    In our product we have a task flow structure very similar to the Fusion Order Demo application, but we are having serious trouble reproducing the documented functionality of ADF Task Flows.
    Specifically, we cannot use a task flow call as an entry point for our application, which is very important for us to achieve.
    The [Developer s Guide|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/web.1111/b31974/taskflows.htm#ADFFD1634] states about the [demo application|http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/samples/fod/index.html] :
    "A Fusion web application always contains an ADF unbounded task flow, which contains the entry point or points to the application. Figure 14-3 displays the diagram for the unbounded task flow from the Fusion Order Demo Application. This task flow contains the Home, *MyOrders*, *checkout*, registerUser, and updateUserInfo *view activities, which are all entry points to the application*."
    "The checkout-task-flow activity in Figure 14-3 is a call to an ADF bounded task flow."
    When we run the Fusion Demo Application, we are only able to use home, updateUserInfo and register as entry points.
    We cannot enter the application through any of the task flow call activities (MyOrders and checkout) as the documentation suggests.
    What are the reasons for this and how do we fix it, so we can use task flow call activities as application entry points?
    Thanks.

    The forum did not display the link to "Developer's Guide" because the link contained the single quote char '. Single quote char removed.

    Is what you mention here the case in the Fusion Order Demo application?
    If the task flow call activities cannot be used as entry points, why is it stated in the documentation?
    How do we solve this, so that the task flow call activities (including parameter bindings) can be used as entry points, like the documentation suggests?

    No, there is no workaround for this.  You can open a SR and let Oracle work on this. We can't do anything about it.
    Why can't you install jdk 1.6?
    You can have more then one jdk installed on your pc.
    You can use in jdk which comes with the installation package,

  • Bounded vs. Unbounded task flows

    I have read the appropriate doc (Ch 13 in the Fusion Dev Guide for OADF) regarding bounded vs. unbounded task flows. Am still somewhat confused by the differences. For a bounded task flow the doc says: 'Has a single entry point.' When I build a bounded task flow (JDev 11.1.1.0) with multiple views I can enter the task flow at ANY of the jspx pages. This is not what I call a single point of entry.
    Please explain what is meant by the above statement as opposed to an unbounded task flow.
    THANKS - Casey

    Casey,
    no you can't. Please have a look at the diagram if it shows a green circle around one of your activities demarking the entry point. Don't confuse running a JSPX page from running a taskflow. Taskflows don't own the pages! Taskflows reference the pages. This means that you can call the JSPX page directly, but its not within the context of a bounded taskflow, but implicitly added to the unbounded taskflow. So you may want to use ADF Security and grant no permissions to JSPX pages to prevent users from directly calling a JSPX page. Bounded taskflows are not a mean to protect pages from access.

  • Can I reference page-flow bean from a bounded-task-flow page-fragment?

    I have a view activity implemented as page fragment in my bounded task flow.
    I declare a page-flow scope managed-bean in adfc-config.xml to do some initialization for the bounded-task-flow:
    <managed-bean id="__23">
    <managed-bean-name id="__22">TaskFlowBean</managed-bean-name>
    <managed-bean-class id="__21">view.backing.TaskFlowBackingBean</managed-bean-class>
    <managed-bean-scope id="__20">pageFlow</managed-bean-scope>
    </managed-bean>
    In my bounded task flow, the default activity is a method-call activity which call the page-flow bean method
    <method-call id="initFlow">
    <method>#{pageFlowScope.TaskFlowBean.initFlow}</method>
    <outcome id="__27">
    <fixed-outcome>showPanel</fixed-outcome>
    </outcome>
    </method-call>
    But JDeveloper (11.1.1.2) show a warning "Refereneed pageFlowScope not found" at the "Diagram" view of the flow definition.
    The fixed outcome of the default activity is to render a page-fragment which also reference the page-flow scope bean method getPanelTitle():
    <af:panelBox text="#{pageFlowScope.TaskFlowBean.panelTitle}" id="pb1">
    <f:facet name="toolbar"/>
    </af:panelBox>
    At runtime, the page fragment was rendered properly except the panel box title is missing. No other error is reported
    When I debugged the application, the bean methods initFlow() and getPanelTitle() didn't get call as the program didn't stop at the breakpoint set in the bean methods.
    The page fragment was rendered properly except the panel box title is missing.
    When I change the scope to backing bean, both initFlow() and getPanelTitle() get called but under a different backing bean.
    As the bean attributes set by initFlow() were not no longer set when getPanelTitle() was invoked even though the methods were invoked in the correct order.
    Why can't I use a page-flow scope bean within the bounded task flow?
    On further debugging, I noticed the bean was not created when it is set to be page-flow scope. I put a debug message in the constructor... never get called.
    When should a page-flow scope bean be created to be accessible on entry to a bounded task flow?

    Please check the scope of the pageFlow from the manual.
    pageFlowScope is only available for the pages/views in that taskflow and not in the included taskflows.

  • Searchable Flow Diagrams?

    Upon Conversion to PDF our flow diagrams are becoming non
    searchable images. Is there anything we can do in Word or Acrobat to
    get them to convert as searchable text? Please note that Adobe
    Acrobat 9.0 OCR is at best 75% effective in rendering our flow
    diagrams as searchable text.
    Thank you

    UML 2.0 (Unified Modeling Language) is what you are looking for. Googling UML and/or the types of diagrams you need
    should give you more hits than you can handle.
    You can also check Safari, Amazon, etc. for many UML specific books, beginner and beyond.
    Your forum transgression could be forgiven since it can be argued that being able to model the system you are trying
    to design is a necessary skill for any programmer/engineer - Java or otherwise.
    But in this case, I think it is especially relevant to Java since it is such a strongly object oriented language.
    The only thing I would note is that the diagrams you are tasked with making should have been done before writing the app.

  • TP4 : task-flow inconsistencies and errors

    I have a simple task flow with five activities.
    1. the first one initialize a view object by calling the create operation on the view object, this is the default activity of the task-flow
    2. the second operation is a view activity to edit the new created view. The view acitivity call a jspx page the all related elements from the view object to edit the data
    3. the third is a view activity to display edited values before commiting or canceling. This view show an empty page with two buttons with fixed outcome (cancel, save).
    4. and 5. are two task flow return that commit (save) or rollback (cancel). It is no parameter in return (at this stage).
    A very simple task-flow.
    My diagram show a warning and two errors.
    The warning is on the first activity. It tell me into the source that "EL Token "bindings" is unknown.
    Here is the code.
        <method-call id="initializeFlexItem">
          <method>#{bindings.Create.execute}</method>
          <outcome>
            <fixed-outcome>initialized</fixed-outcome>
          </outcome>
        </method-call>The errors are mentionned for the return task flow. Errors says that "Element commit not expected", "Element rollback not expected". May be the document doesn't correspond to its xmlschema.
    I have an another warning the template-referernce tag that mention an document-id child is required and not present. The task-flow doesn't refer to any template. So the tag has not to be there, or attribute has not to be required.
    Running the task-flow is not succesfull. I got a JBO-25301 error saying that the application module is not a root application module but has no parent. It seem not to be related to task-flow inconsistencies and errors but I don't know and would like my task-flow is fully correct to be sure.
    Any idea, explanation, recommandation, workaround is welcome.

    I have seem that the property inspector didn't reflect that the return activity was a commit or rollback activity. I added this property and the red x on the return activity disappeared from the diagram and no more errors was mentioned in source editor for these tags.
    The code generated was this one:
        <task-flow-return id="commit">
          <outcome>
            <name>commit</name>
            <commit/>
          </outcome>
        </task-flow-return>
        <task-flow-return id="rollback">
          <outcome>
            <name>rollback</name>
            <rollback/>
          </outcome>
        </task-flow-return>

  • Flow diagrams

    Hi, I know that this question shoudn' t be on this forum but there are many people who can help me so please understand me.
    I have developed an app for java and now I have to amke some flow diagrams like data flow diagrams (from level 0 to 2) system flow diagrams, state diagrams, transition diagrams (sorry if the name isn't correct in English).
    What Im looking for is a web page or someting with information on how to do these diagrams (tutorials, examples, etc).
    Thanks for your help. Bye!

  • Any example for (bounded task flow) popup return value

    I need to know what is the type of popup RETURN VALUE
    any example will be great

    I want to get parameter form popup bounded task flow with NO page fragment (task flow 1) to jsff page from another task flow with page fragment(task flow 2)
    I applied the scenario exist in URL's in first replay and it didn't work
    when I select task flow 1 from inside task flow 2 diagram I found in its inspector page filed called "Dialog Return Value"
    how can I use this field
