TASK_SCOPE vs APPLICATION_SCOPE

Hi Experts,
I've found the two Model configuration option while searching for a solution to RFC Problems. The problem is, system doesn't disconnects the Gateway connections at backend R/3 System while we configured Jco destionation to do it after 10 secs. This causes many open Gateway connections thus exceeding some limits at backend.
And I see some posts about TASK_SCOPE for Models. (Weblog: /people/sap.user72/blog/2005/01/08/adaptive-rfc-models-in-web-dynprosome-pointers). Here we've many Models imported into applications seperately and many applications on a page.
But I know that JCO Connection Pooling will suffer If I switch my Models to TASK_SCOPE.
Can you tell me, is this recommended to switch to TASK_SCOPE? How much performance decrease I must expect?
Best Regards

Huseyin,
Even if you are using TASK_SCOPE connection pooling doesn't suffer -- you just get connection from pool at the beginning of request and release it to pool at the end of request (request ~ WD action handler).
Any model objects created with TASK_SCOPE are no longer mantained after request finished. So, I guess, it's not possible to use such model objects for context binding. This is the only difference from APPLICATION_SKOPE.

  • Adding link to html page

    How do I add a link to html page through java code?
    If I want to see some text in the code as a link to some web page,then please let me know the changes I'll have to make in ordre to get the desired result.

    Hi,
    According to http://help.sap.com/javadocs/NW73EHP1/SPS14/CE/wdr/com.sap.wdr/index.html there are only two types of scopes APPLICATION_SCOPE  and TASK_SCOPE.
    My guess is that they both rely on browser cache somehow.

  • EP5.0 Custom .par File Does Not Work in EP6.0 SP2

    I have a .par file called CustomerSearch.par that is used in EP5.0, and I am now trying to get this .par file to work in EP6.0 SP2.  I noticed the directory structure changes, so my .par structure is this:
    CustomerSearch.par
    -->  portal-inf
    portalapp.xml
    lib
    CustomerSearch.jar
    TableViewExample.class
    pagelet
    TableView.jsp
    I am getting the following error in the portal console logs when I try to access the component after I have uploaded the CustomerSearch.par file.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Hi Bernhard,
    nice to hear that we resolve the problem
    > Karstens answer solved my base problem,
    > Detlevs answer lead into the right direction.
    Not that I've that need for points...
    It's just the question why my answer (if you follow the link, my answer was: delete two lines, from which one is essential to be deleted) only "lead into the right direction"... In fact, it solved the base problem, I would claim for me
    To give the technical background: If your write
    <property name="ComponentType" value="jspnative"/>
    the portal runtime expects a component consisting of a native JSP; the second directive -
    <property name="JSP" value="pagelet/InitialPage.jsp"/>
    - for this case tells where to find this JSP. So if you delete the first line, <i>at least</i> the second line has no sense anymore. To clean up such a portalapp.xml, it just makes sense also to delete the second line.
    Best regards

  • Communication between two portlets - Java Portlet JSR168

    Communication between two portlets
    Hi All,
    i want to be question how do communication between two portlets. Exam:
    I have 2 portlets in a portal together: a Menu portlet & a Content portlet, now i want when i click to an link of portlet Menu then my Content portlet will get param from link that.
    i'm develop by Oracle Jdeveloper tool & OracleAS 10g.
    Thank a lot !

    Hello,
    I assume you are not using Weblogic Portal, correct? If you are using Weblogic Portal, you could use events to communicate between two JSR168 portlets, but this only works in Weblogic Portal.
    If you are not using Weblogic Portal, the only way to communicate between two JSR 168 portlets is to put an attribute in the session in one portlet, and retrieve it from the session in the other portlet. For example, to set a value in your Menu portlet, given a javax.portlet.PortletRequest variable "request", and an object you want to send to the content portlet in the variable "menuChoice":
    javax.portlet.PortletSession session = request.getPortletSession(true);
    session.setAttribute("menuChoice", menuChoice, javax.portlet.PortletSession.APPLICATION_SCOPE);
    Then, in your content portlet to retrieve the value of the menuChoice variable you would do this:
    javax.portlet.PortletSession session = request.getPortletSession(true);
    Object menuChoice = session.retAttribute("menuChoice", javax.portlet.PortletSession.APPLICATION_SCOPE);

  • Encountered the symbol "COLLECT" error message, without a collection?

    Okay, once again I'm confused and lost.
    I'm working on a 'variation' of the Issue Tracker sample application at:
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=23133
    Once there, select "Projects", then on the "Projects" page, click the edit button.
    The error appears in the "Add or Edit Project Tasks" region.
    The region source is:
    select
    x.del,
    x.task_name,
    x.status,
    x.dependent_upon,
    x.task_scope,
    x.task_comments,
    x.task_lead,
    x.ck ck
    from (
    select
    apex_item.checkbox(1,task_id) del,
    apex_item.text(2,task_name,30,70) TASK_NAME,
    apex_item.display_and_save(3,ht_tasks_getstatus(task_id)) STATUS,
    apex_item.select_list_from_lov(4,dependent_upon,'select task_name d, task_id r from ht_tasks where project_id = :P3_PROJECT_ID') DEPENDENT_UPON,
    apex_item.textarea(5,task_scope,4,40) TASK_SCOPE,
    apex_item.textarea(6,task_comments,4,40) TASK_COMMENTS,
    apex_item.select_list_from_lov(7,task_lead,'PEOPLE') TASK_LEAD,
    apex_item.hidden(8,project_id)||
    apex_item.hidden(9,wwv_flow_item.md5(task_name,status,dependent_upon,task_scope,task_comments,task_lead)) ck
    from HT_TASKS_VIEW
    where project_id = :P3_PROJECT_ID
    union all
    select
    apex_item.checkbox(1,null) del,
    apex_item.text(2,null,30,70) TASK_NAME,
    apex_item.display_and_save(3,null) STATUS,
    apex_item.select_list_from_lov(4,null,'select task_name d, task_id r from ht_tasks where project_id = :P3_PROJECT_ID') DEPENDENT_UPON,

    apex_item.hidden(8,to_number(:P3_PROJECT_ID))||
    apex_item.hidden(9,null) ck
    from dual) x
    Which appears to be working correctly. When I click the debug link, the following appears:
    0.04: add row query: select x.del, x.task_name, x.status, x.dependent_upon, x.task_scope, x.task_comments, x.task_lead, x.ck ck from ( select apex_item.checkbox(1,task_id) del, apex_item.text(2,task_name,30,70) TASK_NAME, apex_item.display_and_save(3,ht_tasks_getstatus(task_id)) STATUS, apex_item.select_list_from_lov(4,dependent_upon,'select task_name d, task_id r from ht_tasks where project_id = :P3_PROJECT_ID') DEPENDENT_UPON, apex_item.textarea(5,task_scope,4,40) TASK_SCOPE, apex_item.textarea(6,task_comments,4,40) TASK_COMMENTS, apex_item.select_list_from_lov(7,task_lead,'PEOPLE') TASK_LEAD, apex_item.hidden(8,project_id)|| apex_item.hidden(9,wwv_flow_item.md5(task_name,status,dependent_upon,task_scope,task_comments,task_lead)) ck from HT_TASKS_VIEW where project_id = :P3_PROJECT_ID union all select apex_item.checkbox(1,null) del, apex_item.text(2,null,30,70) TASK_NAME, apex_item.display_and_save(3,null) STATUS, apex_item.select_list_from_lov(4,null,'select task_name d, task_id r from ht_tasks where project_id = :P3_PROJECT_ID') DEPENDENT_UPON, apex_item.textarea(5,null,4,40) TASK_SCOPE, apex_item.textarea(6,null,4,40) TASK_COMMENTS, apex_item.select_list_from_lov(7,null,'PEOPLE') TASK_LEAD, apex_item.hidden(8,to_number(:P3_PROJECT_ID))|| apex_item.hidden(9,null) ck from dual) x

    PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol "COLLECT" when expecting one of the following:
    := . ( @ % ;
    So, it looks like the error is happening when it starts the loop to grab the rows. I'm not using a collection, so I'm assuming that for the pagination, Apex is using a collection internally, and somehow, somewhere, that's generating the error?
    I've deleted the region and everything associated with it, buttons, processes, etc. and the rebuilt the region without the other 'stuff', but I still get the error. I'm completely lost now, as I really don't what else to try, other than dropping the page an trying to recreate it. But if that doesn't work, any idea what would?
    Also, to log in and see the code, my workspace is wbfergus, and the id and pwd are both htmldb.
    Thanks.
    Bill Ferguson

    Bill - Try apex_item.select_list_from_query when a query (not a named lov) is the source:  apex_item.select_list_from_query(4,dependent_upon,'select task_name d, task_id r from ht_tasks where project_id = :P3_PROJECT_ID') DEPENDENT_UPON,BTW, nothing do do with collections in this case. The parsing hit a 'bulk collect' probably.

  • How to access httpsession in flex2

    can anyone tell me how to access teh httpsession on the
    serverside while using flash remoting? I heard that it can be
    obtained from AMF gateway, is that true? if so, where can i find
    the AMF gateway class when using mx.rpc.remoting.RemoteObject on
    the client side? or i have to use the OPENAMF product on both
    client and server side? any suggestion r welcom, thx a lot.

    hi,
    to share a session attr between a portlet and a servlet, you need to access the attribute in the application scope of the portlet ...
    Object o = portletRequest.getPortletSession(true).getAttribute(name, PortletSession.APPLICATION_SCOPE);you can then access the same attr from the HTTP session ...
    Object o = request.getSession(true).getAttribute(name);

  • Export to excel in CE : Issue with getPublicCachedWebResource

    Hi Friends,
    I am trying to export table data to excel. I have considered the related posts in SDN. The pproblem I am facing is due to the NWDS version I guess. I a using CE7.1 SP05.
    My code is :
    cachedWebResource = WDWebResource.getPublicCachedWebResource(excelCSVFile, type, WDScopeType.APPLICATION_SCOPE,
              wdThis
              .wdGetAPI()
              .getComponent()
              .getDeployableObjectPart(),
              fileName);
    wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportSuccess("Resource Name " + cachedWebResource.getURL());
    The output is :
    ../../../../webdynpro/resources/demo.sap.com/jxltest/Components/com.sap.demo.jxltest.jxltestapp.comp.JxltestappComp/output81389.xls
    I have no idea where from the number 81389 is appending after output. The file should be "output.xls". This is different everytime I run the program.
    Need help. Any pointer will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Mickey.

    Seems that the « Reuse connection » command is essential to assure that an application use ONLY ONE Jco.  I get rid of the disconnectIfAlive.
    Recommendation 1: Put all the BAPIs that you call in the same system into the same model!
    Recommendation 2: If you canu2018t follow recommendation 1, make sure that the two models synchronize their (JCo) connections!
    // two separate model instances are created ...
    MyFirstModelTypemodelMyFirst= (MyFirstModelType) WDModelFactory.getModelInstance(
    MyFirstModelType.class,
    WDModelScopeType.APPLICATION_SCOPE);
    MyOtherModelTypemodelMyOther= (MyOtherModelType) WDModelFactory.getModelInstance(
    MyOtherModelType.class,
    WDModelScopeType.APPLICATION_SCOPE);
    // ... but the first model manages and provides the
    // connection for the other model
    modelMyOther.setConnectionProvider(modelMyFirst);

    Hello ,
    I am on EP7.0 ERP05 NW04s and trying to modify ESS Address application  to point to a custom function group rather than the standard one . Do below things.
    1. Re-import your Model.
    2. Restart your J2ee server
    3. Re-load & Rebuild your project.
    It should work now..

    I want to pass the selected input field to bapi..
    Please tel me where i pass the input field...
    Please correct my code...

    Hi,
    Steps to insert multiple entries to BAPI table.
    1.Create an instance for BAPI input
    2.Bind the instance to the Node of the BAPI input
    3.Create instance of the Structure(BAPI table) to which input has to be added.
    4.Set the input values to the Structure instance.
    5.Add the instance to the BAPI input.
    6.Execute
    From the given example,I assume Z_Recr_Apply_Point_Input  is the BAPI Input and com.epiuse.us.recruitment.models.veteranpoint.Zrecr_Aplno as Structure
    Step 1:
    Z_Recr_Apply_Point_Input request = new Z_Recr_Apply_Point_Input(WDModelScopeType.TASK_SCOPE);
    Step 2:
    <b>wdContext.nodeZ_Recr_Apply_Point_Input.bind(request);</b>
    Steps 3 & 4:
    int size = wdContext.nodeApplicants().size();
    for(int i = 0 ; i < size ; i++)
    String isselected = wdThis.wdGetContext().nodeApplicants().getElementAt(i).getAttributeAsText("Appl_Number");
    if(isselected == "true")
    com.epiuse.us.recruitment.models.veteranpoint.Zrecr_Aplno appid = new
    com.epiuse.us.recruitment.models.veteranpoint.Zrecr_Aplno();
    appid.setAppl_Number(wdContext.nodeApplicants().
    getApplicantsElementAt(i).getAppl_Number());
    <b>wdContext.currentZ_Recr_Apply_Point_InputElement().modelObject().addRecr_Aplno(appid);</b>
    Step 5:
    <b>wdContext.currentZ_Recr_Apply_Point_InputElement().modelObject().execute();</b>

    I have used Apache's commons file upload functionality as the file upload provided in JSF doesnot work with portlets and the action event is not invoked If I keep enctype="multipart/form-data". So I included 3 forms in my Faces JSP file.
    1) h:form = For displyign error message on screen
    2) html:form = Include the enctype="multipart/form-data" and the input type file for uploading. And a submit button
    3) h:form: Here I have a command link which is remotely excuted on click of sumit button in my html form. This is to invoke the action event in the pagecode to get the bean value from the context.
    Now in the my doView method in the portlet, isMultipartContent(httpservletrequest) always returns null as the content type is text/html and not multipart. Onclick of the submit button in the the html form I am calling a javascript function which sets the __LINK_TARGET__ to the command link in the 3rd h:form which will call the page code.
    The problem here is action is invoked only when I return false from the above javascript else it will trigger for the first time and from second time onwards it will not invoke the action event in the pagecode method. Whent the javascript function returns false, the content type is always text/html. However if I return "true" from the javascript the content type is multipart/form-data, but the action is not triggered for the second time. So basically when the javascript functions returns true, for the first click everything works perfectly. When it returns false, the content type is text/html, but the action is invoked in the page code every time.
    Returning always true would solve my problem with the content type, but the action with the command link will not get invoked always as its some type of problem with h:commanLink :(.
    I guess I gave too much info. Heres my code stepby step.
    Can somebody please tell me , how I should also invoke the action in the page code and get the content type as "multipart/form-data" at the same time.

    Thanks.

    one more question. Is there a way where I can submit two forms ?
    Thats is submit 2nd form only when the first form is submitted.
    I tried this it works.
    function formSubmit(){
    document.form1.submit();
    alert();
    document.form2.submit();
    But If I dont put an alert(basically it disables the parent page) in between, only the second form is submitted.
    If I put a delay of say 3 seconds in between then it will throw a SOCKET CLOSED error in the code triggered due to first form submit.
    Thus disabling the paresnt page for a few seconds is reolving my problem.
    Any ideas ?
    Well Basically when the Alert pop's up the parent page "STALLS" and thus the form2 does not submit till I click on OK, Is there a way I can stall the browser/Parent JSP page using JAVA SCRIPT ??

  • Problem in Web dynpro Java appl deployment

    Hi Experts,
    We are in the live environment and after successful QA testing, all the applications were deployed through SDM. In SDM log everything shows as deployed successfully.
    For one where in the web dynpro screen shows exception message as:
    failed to create or init instance of model <modelname> in scope application_scope with instanceId null.
    All MSS and HR users are getting affected.
    EP7.0SP11 and ECC6.0
    Thanks,
    Sonali.

    If you are sure that QA testing was correct and the application was working fine.. I would say in Prod env after deployment please restart /bounce the Java Server.. this will fix the problem
    Also One thing I can think of is FPM configuration in Portal(PCD) .. make sure your config in Prod is same as QA . It could be the roadmap or the perspectives are different

  • ESS Personal Information not working

    Dear All,
    Here we have ECC 6 and EP7 SP10, we have uploaded BP ESS 1.0 SP 7.
    For ESS Personal Information workset, iViews for Address, Bank Information, Family Information and Personal Data is showing a page in which it is given steps which are
    1     Overview   2 Edit   3 Review and Save   4 Confirmation
    Previous Step      Exit
    And also in SPRO setting for Personal information under ESS head is missing
    Employee Self-Service-->Service-Specific Settings --> Personal Data , there is no personal Data link.
    Kindly help me what needs to be done for Displaying iViews of Personal information and getting the link for Personal Data in SPRO under Employee Self Service.
    Regards,
    Sidhartha Chatterjee

    Dear Awadh,
    I am able to see Own Data in SPRO.
    Issue is that while running Personal Information --> Address iView, the page which is being shown is like this
    [1] -
    [2]--[3][4]--
    Overview           Edit         Review and Save      Confirmation
    <Previous Step>   <Exit>.
    and no data is being Displayed.
    The same is the case for other iViews of Personal Information like Bank Details and Family Details.
    But for Personal Data iView it is giving this error
    "<b>failed to create or init instance of model 'com.sap.xss.hr.per.in.pdata.model.HRXSS_PER_P0002_IN' in scope APPLICATION_SCOPE with instanceId 'null'"</b>.
    kindly tell me what needs to be done to resolve this issue.
