Tcp_conn_hash_size value For Solaris 9 with SunOne Directory 5.2

I'm really confused. The default value for tcp_conn_hash_size in Solaris 8 and 9 is 512, I have verified this with documentation and ndd commands on various systems. A contractor who assisted with our SunOne Directory 5.2 deployment recommended that the value be set to 256 and when I checked the Blueprint book, LDAP in the Solaris Operating Environment, the output from idsktune printed in the book indicates that 256 is the default. However, when I run idsktune on a Solaris 8 or Solaris 9 system, no mention is made of "decreasing" this default value. Why would someone want to decrease this value?

This looks like it may be a bug where the original default value got hard coded or something. You're right that it's probably more likely you'll want to increase tcp_conn_hash_size, perhaps 8192 or higher if you need to support a high number of concurrent connections.

You have a valid argument; So I had this kind of test going. I had 50,000 messages of
type-1 first loaded into the queue. Then I had 100 messages of type-2 loaded on to the
queue.
At this point, I issued a conditional dequeue that skipped type-1 messages and only
asked for type-2 messages. I saw the full table scan.
Then I created another test case 1 million type-1 messages had to be skipped.
Still full table scans. I am not convinced that the doing full table scans is the best query
plan out there. Cost Based Optimizer tends to disagree for some reason. May be
it is right; But I have to avoid FTS when possible. As you know, not only blocks
used by the existing rows in the table get scanned, but also every block until the
high water mark level.
One might say for a table with volatile data that comes and goes on a daily basis, million is an extreme case. Howvere, I am building a general purpose infrastructure based
on AQ and cannot rule out consumers who misbehave.
Are there better ways to handle multiple types of consumers on a single physical queue ? I need to be able dequeue specific consumer types if necessary, and this has to be
done in a performant manner.
Other alternatives I can think are
1. Using a multi consumer queue such that there is one subscriber for each message
type. Use multiple agent sets in a listen method to listen to messages and then
control what agents we pass into listen method.
Any pattern suggestions welcome.

Reduce Remaining Order Planned value for services with PO

Hi guys,
I'am looking for a way to reduce the remaining or residual order plan value for a network activity with services where the amount on the PO is below the planned value. If for example the planned value amounts up to 1000 and the PO has been reduced due to negotiations to 900, a remainder order plan of 100 remains on the network activity till the activity is technically closed.
Is there a way to reduce the ROP when a PO exists for the network activity?

We are combining an early visibility of all costs and a strict budget availability control with a formal procedure for project managers to request additional budget.
We have more and more projects where a part of the budget remains blocked in ROP for service activities because the planned value was more pessimistic than the real PO amount. Since these service activities are typically executed at the end of the project that part remains blocked. Of course the project managers want to use that marging elsewhere without having to pass a request for additional budget.
We have no issue with the network activity planned costs remaining visible, we just want the ROP to be 0 when a the purchase requisition for the service activity has been transformed into a purchase order. In the above example 100 of the budget would be freed for other use.

Using Calc Manager to update values for Members with Text Data Type

Hi All,
In my outline I have a member of text data type. The purpose is to allow users to be able to enter comments.
Each line item is created through a business rule and I am prompting the user to enter the key values at the launch of the calc manager rules. I want to be able to prompt the user for the comments in the calc manager rule because I know that it supports variables of type string. However I am unable to assign this string variable directly to the member.
I appreciate that essbase only stores numeric data and that all text data type members really store numeric values which are basically the id's of the text string stored in a relational table by planning. however I cannot update the database table through calc manager and then bring in the generated id. Is there any way I can do this?
I don't want to skip this field in the calc manager rule and expect the user to enter the comments AFTER the line item has been created because the users want this to be a mandatory field and insist that a new line item not be created unless comments are specified.

My organization have two active directories with two domains. We are planing to implement Oracle Identity Management for all oracle production databases with OVD intigrates with existing AD's. Is OVD requires any additional license? If requires cost of license?
If any one implements the same please share the setup steps and license information.

Usually the Identity management Suite would be self-content with all IAM products. These things mostly depends upon the type of license you have agreed upon with Oracle. Have a word with Oracle. Licensing is not a straight forward defined set of rules, may vary conditionally.

Looking for Help with Active Directory Script to Remove a User from msExchDelegateListLink

I'm struggling to put together an Active Directory Powershell script that will remove a specific user from the msExchDelegateListLink.
It looks like Set-AdUser would do the trick. I would want to remove a user in the format of
{CN=Wood\, Sandy,OU=Networking,OU=IT,DC=my,DC=domain,DC=com}
Has anyone succeeded in doing this before?

How failover works with SunONE Directory Server?

Assume that I setup 2 masters using the multimaster scheme.
When 1 master fails/down, how do the client knows or get routed to the other master?

For full redundancy:
At the application level:
-redundant storage (raid, san,nas)
-multiple connectors to this storage (fiber,ethernet...)
-multiple LDAP servers (multimaster, replica's)
-multiple LDAP proxy servers
-redundant switches/routers (vrrp, ...)
-loadbalanced by redundant interconnected loadbalancers (level7)
All this helps in non persistant connections, if application are using connection pooling (for performance reasons), you have to verify the behaviour. Some applications only create this pool at start, but if the pool connections brake, it should reconnect.

Extracting data with zero values for periods without data

Hello Together,
i extracted data from our hfm application from period 1 to 3.
Now i found that some rows begin with period 2 or 3 because there are no data in period 1 or 2.
So my question is, how i can get zero values for periods with no data.
Hope someone can help me.

For the periods with no data, HFM does not have a "0" to offer for the data extraction. Since the default data extract from HFM has each period on it's own row in the *.dat file, I don't understand your comment about rows starting with period 2 or 3. In the *.dat file the row for period 1 simply won't exist. Are you using a custom approach/tool for data extraction?
The only time HFM will offer a "0" where there is indeed no data, is if you extract derived data. You must include calculated data, and even then I believe HFM will only extract a "0" for the first period after a period where there was data, and only for flow accounts (Revenue/Expense). so if you have "100" in period 1, and no data in period 2, such that the derived value YTD for period 2 is "0", then you must include calculated values in the extract and you should see "0" for period 2. However, I don't believe HFM will extract "0" for period 3 - instead it will be blank/missing.
In general it could be very dangerous to force HFM to give zeros where there is no data.

We would like to use the option "Q Only Posted values for navigation" from the set F4 mode 'Query Execution Filter Val. Selectn' in the Multiprovider specific properties.
The problem is that this option Works for Infoobject stored on the infocube, but It doesn't work for Navigation Attributes.
Question : Could you please tell us how to use the option "Q Only Posted values for navigation" with _Navigation Attributes _ ?

Can we have a Default Value for the dashboard prompt ?

I have a requirement as when we run the dashboard, dashboard prompt should be defaulted with a value for the first time.
Defaulting the values is done by SQL Results,but when i try to change the values for that prompt it is not showing any other values other than the defaulted prompt.
Ex: I have a dashboard prompt as Employee Name and i have defaulted the value for that with 'Scott' and ran the dashboard.
When i try to run it for different employee i am not able to get other values to be selected.
Do we have any mechanism as such we can have default value when we run the dashboard for the first time and then all the values when we run it for the second time?

Try to re-reg sid_01 service
Please copy sapstartsrv.exe and sapstartsrv.exe.new from CT_RUN
for example \usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64
direcrory to exe folder the service is point to overwrite the exe's
there.
Also delete any sapstartsrv.exe.tmp in exe folder.
If error persists
1. Stop the SAP service
2. Open a command prompt
3. Go to usr\sap\<SID>\exe\run
4. call 'sapstartsrv.exe -t' from the command line
5. Confirm
the dialog window
6. Start the service again
give the above a try .the purpose is sapstartsrv.exe must be the same version and at same level..

How to create users with i18n characters in SunONE directory server?

Was trying to create users and groups with i18n characters in SunONE directory server
1. Started LDAP console using -l option
2. Chaged the Locale to Japanese
3. Entered few japanese character as username (meaning internationalization user name)
4. However, I could not able to type the password using the "soft keyboard" that comes with Japanese Locale
5. to overcome with #4, for now, I typed english chars as the password
6. Click OK to save the above username/pwd
7. It says "netscape.ldap.LDAPException: error result (19); value of attribute "uid" contains extended (8-bit) characters"
Has anyone ever created i18n user names in SunONE Directory Provider? Please help...

JAAS LoginModule for SunOne Directory Server?

I have a customer who is using SunOne Directory Server for LDAP.
I have test code that uses the JAAS's com.sun.security.auth.module.JndiLoginModule to do authentication against an OpenLDAP test server.
The test code won't work at the customer site because they need to use a special userid/pw along with the subject userid/pw in order to do an authentication. I assume this is LDAP v3 stuff, but the customer is unsure. Unfortunately I have no direct access to the customer's LDAP admin folk. Typical bureaucracy stuff.
The customer was able to write java code that authenticates to his LDAP server using example code from http://java.sun.com/products/jndi/tutorial/ldap/security/ldap.html which uses the JNDI API and specifies the access userid/pw using Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL and Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS.
So thats great, however my application uses JAAS, and therfore only indirectly uses JNDI. The JndiLoginModule provided by JAAS does not appear to support the Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL and Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS parameters.
A custom JAAS LoginModule could be written which interfaces to the JNDI LDAP stuff, however considering that JAAS and the SunOne Directory server are both Sun products, I thought perhaps SunOne Directory comes with a JAAS compatible LoginModule that my customer does not know about? I've looked at online docs, but haven't found any such thing yet.

I do not want to get involved with any web/application server stuff more than I need to; unfortunately one of the system requirements is for client-server comms to be facilitated by SOAP over HTTP, and thus probably JAX-RPC - but it is no problem. I have a developed a database backed Policy and (JAAS) Config which constitute parts of the server component. Now it is just a case of getting the policy to the client at client start-up and subsequently the configuration forJAAS authentication. The aim is that this data will be transfered once during login, and anytime that the the policy is requested to be refreshed.
Since reading you post, I'm wondering what services LDAP or JNDI can offer me?
Also, is JNDI an appropriate option for data persistence? is it better to go with JDO or some other object store abstraction.
