Team Foundation Server 2013 update 4 New Install - Error 503 Service Unavailable for Sharepoint Central Admin

Hello,
I ran a new install of Team Foundation Server and let it install the built in SharePoint pieces on a single server setup. After the install i'm able to access the
http://teamfoundation:8080/tfs/ address without issue but am unable to create a project. When I attempt to create a project I get the following error:
TF30172: You do not have permission to create a new team project (when checking security i'm a member of the project collection administrators and Team Foundation Administrators)
This led me to look at the sharepoint central administration site where I receive the following error:
Error 503 Service Unavailable
I've gone through and validated the identity is set correctly in IIS for the following services:
SharePoint Central Admin v4
SharePoint15AppPool
The SharePoint Web Services Root is set as LocalService instead of the domain user.
The identity domain user is setup as local administrator on the Team Foundation Server. They are all set to use .net v4.0.30319 with integrated Pipeline mode.
Any help would be great!
Thanks!
Eric

Hi Eric,
Thanks for your post.
Please share your detailed team project creation log here.
In your TFS Admin Console>>Extensions for SharePoint Products tab, ensure SharePoint Web Application shows correctly in the right panel. And go to TFS Admin Console>>Application Tier>>SharePoint Web Applications tab, ensure your SharePoint
web application displays in the right panel, then select your SharePoint web application and click Repair Connection, ensure can repair successfully.
In your IIS Manager, select your SharePoint Central Administration V4 site and click Browser:17012(http) in the right panel, check if your SharePoint Central site can be opened successfully or not. If your SharePoint Central site cannot be accessed, I think
this issue relate to your SharePoint site, you should contact SharePoint experts to resolve this issue first. After you resolved this issue and your SharePoint Central Admin site can be accessed correctly, then try to create your team project(within SharePoint
site) again, if there still has issue when creating team project, please share the detailed error message here, we will try to resolve it.

  • (BUG??) Team Foundation Server 2013 Update 4 Support for SQL 2014

Scenario: On Windows 2012 R2 x64 I have installed SQL, Reporting Services & AS 2014 (applied all updates through Windows Update), SharePoint 2013 Foundation, and installed Team Foundation Server 2013 RTM (did not configure).
Before configuring TFS, I applied Update 4 to the server (not update 1,2 or 3 directly). When trying to configure I get the following error:
    ==========================
TF255146: Team Foundation Server requires SQL Server 2012 SP1 (11.00.3000) or greater. The SQL Server instance you supplied is version 12.0.2254.0.
TF400403: The Report Server instance specified is version 12.0.2254.0, the minimum supported version is 11.0.3000.
TF400070: A required version of a component is not installed on the application tier. You must exit the Team Foundation Administration Console and install a supported version of either SQL Server Analysis Services of the SQL Server Client Tools on the application
tier to ensure that the Analysis Services object model is present for warehouse processing.
    ====================================
My understanding is that as of Update 2 (or was it 3) that SQL 2014 was supported. However it appears if that particular update is not installed directly it bypasses the check. Can someone verify I am seeing the intended result or is this a bug?

  • Team Foundation Server 2013 Express licensing issues - error TF400409

We've installed Team Foundation Server Express 2013 update 3.  When I go to a project/team and attempt to use the Backlog or Task Board functions under Work, or use the Team Rooms I get the following error message:
TF400409  You do not have licensing rights to access this feature: Backlog and sprint planning tools
TF400409  You do not have licensing rights to access this feature: Agile boards
TF400409  You do not have licensing rights to access this feature: Team Rooms
Are these features truly not included with the Express version of TFS or is something wrong with our install?

    Hi Dave,
    Thanks for your reply.
I checked and confirmed in TFS Express, as you said, there’s no the Access level feature in TFS 2013 Express Web Access, and TFS 2013 Express not support the backlog/sprint planning, Agile task board and Team room, it’s by design.
You can download VS 2013 document from
here, and check the Client Licensing Requirement for Team Foundation Server section in this document for more information.

  • Team Foundation Server 2013 Refresh button not refreshing Custom Control values in TFS Templates

    Hi all,
We have recently migrated from Team Foundation Server 2010 to Team Foundation Server 2013 Update 2. In TFS 2013 template design we found the refresh form control (inbuilt control of TFS) which is unable to refresh the custom control values that is built
by us. Is there any way that we can programatically modify to enable the refresh button work with custom control.
Please find below screenshot link for reference.

    SaranRam

    Hi SaranRam,
The refresh button is there to allow the data that populated the work item to be refreshed. The data that you want refreshed is part of the rendering of the form and would only be refreshed when the browser refreshes. Refer to MrHinsh's reply in this
    page.

  • SharePoint 2013 - Team Foundation Server Dashboard Update job failed

    Hi
I integrated TFS 2012 with SharePoint 2013 on Windows Server 2012.  SharePoint 2013 farm have 3 WFE and 3 App servers
    here what i did
Install TFS extension for SP 2013 on each of SP server and granted access of SP web application to TFS server successfully
in CA - I deployed TFS solutions (wsp) successfully) for wfe3 server
    microsoft.teamfoundation.sharepoint.dashboards.wsp
    microsoft.teamfoundation.sharepoint.dashboards15.wsp
    microsoft.teamfoundation.sharepoint.wsp
I have a number of SC with TFS features activated and connect with TFS server project site working but I really don't know much about TFS.
What I see is there are 2 TFS timer jobs "Team Foundation Server Dashboard Update" for each of the web application (web1 and web2)
    running every 30 minutes.
All jobs on web1 are running and succeed and ran on wfe1 and app3
but all jobs on web2 are failed and ran on wfe2, wfe3 and app1, app2 with the following error  "An exception occurred while scanning dashboard sites. Please see the SharePoint
    log for detailed exceptions"
I looked into the log file and it is show the same error but nothing more.
If anyone experience this or have any advice on how to resolve this, please share
    Thanks
    Swanl

    Hi Swanl,
It seems that the Dashboard Update timer job will loop through the existing site collection, regardless if it is associated to a TFS site.
If one or more of this site collection is down/corrupted, this will cause the job to fail.
You can try the following step to check if the sites are good:
    1. Go to Central Administration > Application Management > View all Site Collections. Proceed to click on each Site collection, and notice the properties for the site on the right hand site.
If the properties does not show up or errors out, this will need to be fixed.
    2. Detach the SharePoint content database and reattach it to see if the issue still occurs.
    Thanks,

  • Using Team Foundation Server 2013 for Embedded windows application development

Can I use Team Foundation Server 2013 to develop an application for an Embedded Board with WEC7 or WEC2013? Does it have all the features of the ultimate edition? For example, can I debug the application when it is running on the embedded board?

    Hi Davidlsar,
If the source code of your project is created and managed by Visual Studio or Eclipse, then you can work with TFS 2013 since you can connect to team project in TFS via Team Explorer and then do the management. If you want to develop an application with a
client machine which OS is WEC2013, you have to confirm whether you can install Visual Studio and use corresponding features on WEC2013.
For the debugging problem, you might open a new thread in embedded forums for a better response. Thanks for your understanding.

  • Team Foundation Server 2013 MP discoveries not working.

We are standing up a TFS 2013 instance.  We copied over our prod data to new hardware and performed the upgrade.  The system seems to be working, testing is going on now.
I brought in the Team Foundation Server 2013 Management Pack ver 1.0.0.1 into SCOM and applied the run as account.
First question, in the documentation it shows to apply this to all objects and add in your application tier server(s) into the more secure area to control where the account goes.  Doing this caused a slew of "System Center Management Health Service
Credentials Not Found Alert Message" as every other server didn't have rights to run this account.
Changed that to object and selected the AT server.  This stopped the alerts and some of the discoveries are working.  But when I look in the logs the URLs its trying to hit are missing data, example, MonitorForRegistrationWebService.vbs :
RE-CONSTRUCTED URL = [http://localhost:/tfs//Services/v1.0/Registration.asmx], noticed the // after TFS.  Its seem to be missing the project collection name.
I also noticed that the Default Project GUID is coming across as all zeros.
In the monitoring panel the TFS Application Tier Servers view shows my single AT server and all icons show healthy
In the TFS Project Collections, it shows the single project collection I have as healthy but TFSBuildAgent and TFSBuildController are not monitored.  These exist on a different server from the AT.
The TFS Installation view shows a single installation as healthy except for TFS Build Server is not monitored
As you would expect by now the TFS Build Agent and TFS Build Controllers view are empty.  We don't have a Proxy setup.
I have not disabled any of the discoveries as I wanted to make sure that one or the other would discover the build servers.  No override MPs are in place.
Looking at the build controller and build server I don't see any TFS discoveries running in the event viewer.

    Hi,
Did you use below management pack to monitor TFS?
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35773
I would like to suggest you check below links:
    http://dotnet.dzone.com/articles/monitoring-tfs-2012-using-scom
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/24472041-1eb8-44d5-9dcc-6af2bba55c61/tfs-2010-mp-is-not-sending-successful-discovery-information-to-scom-console?forum=operationsmanagermgmtpacks
As when change TFS server, then no errors, so I would like to suggest you compare all TFS related settings. And please also check runas account for the management pack.

  • Create Multiple Build Controllers in Team Foundation Server 2013

    Hi all,
I have created an environment of Team Foundation Server 2013 & also installed SharePoint Foundation 2013. Everything is working fine. I have created a build controller on the same machine on which I have installed the TFS. This build controller is used
for building the projects of a Team Project Collection. I know that a build controller can only be used for one Team Project collection. Creating multiple build controllers on the same machine is not recommended by Microsoft.
I have another team project collection, for this I need to create another build controller. Could you please tell me how to create another build controller on a different machine.
    Please  help me with this.
    Thanks.

    Hi Vishwajeet,
You can do this by installing TFS in another machine (do not configure as app tier), and then configuring build services.
Complete instructions are in my post here http://chamindac.blogspot.com/2014/02/06-setup-build-server-setup-virtual.html
Setting up a TFS environment step by step explained in this blog series
    http://chamindac.blogspot.com/2013/12/setup-virtual-environment-for-tfs-2013.html
My posts explain how to setup on virtual box but it is same steps even if you setup in hyperv VM or in a standard machine.
One more recommendation I would like to make here is, it is better if you do not configure build services in TFS App Tier. Use separate build servers. Another one is do not create too many project collections. Project collections require separate build servers,
test controllers etc. because one is fully isolated from another collection. So carefully plan your TFS environment. I recommend you to download and read TFS Planing Guide from ALM Rangers from here

  • Exchange 2013 ECP/OWA Error 503 Service Unavailable

    Hi,
Hoping that someone can clarify or assist with an issue relating to Exchange 2013 CU3..
Both roles installed on a single 2012 server, mailboxes created, able to login to ECP/OWA using ht tps://servername.int.domain.com/ecp using the out of the box internally generated SSL certificate.
Virtual directory internal and external settings for all directories were configured to be ht tps://mail.domain.com/owa /ecp /EWS etc and a UCC certificate (containing mail.domain.com, autodiscover.domain.com)from GoDaddy was imported and assigned to
IIS and SMTP, internal DNS records were setup internally and externally for mail.domain.com and full propagated, Outlook Anywhere enabled and configured to mail.domain.com, external access configured for all virtual directories
The issue is that ECP and OWA can only be accessed internally by the full internal server FQDN URL ht tps:// serverame.int.domain.com/ecp whereas it should be accessible at this point by ht tps:// mail.domain.com/ecp
Error received both internal and external when trying ht tps://mail.domain.com / owa / rpc etc is error 503 Service Unavailable
I know that the ECP and OWA sites are up and running as I can login and do anything by internal servername URL but no joy at all using the external (which is to be used for internal clients aswell for seamless access)
The only way it works is by adding a host name to the 2 x 443 bindings in IIS for the front end website and set it to mail.domain.com but this means autodiscover.domain.com internally and externally wont work
Is this normal and required for Exchange 2013 or is there a way to resolve this?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
I found a article might help you, for you reference:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2619402
Generally, this error occurs if the application pool that is associated with the web application doesn't start.
To troubleshoot this issue, follow these steps:
In Event Viewer, view the System log to find errors from the Microsoft-Windows-WAS source. An event is frequently logged in the System log if the application pool fails to start.
If you don't find any relevant events in the System log, search for relevant entries in the HTTPERR log file. The httperr1.log file is located in the following system folder:
    c:\windows\system32\logfiles
In the file, search on "503" to locate any relevant information about why the application pool failed. For example, you may see an entry that resembles the following:
    2011-12-08 18:26:42 ::1%0 6721 ::1%0 443 HTTP/1.1 GET /owa 503 3 N/A SharePoint+Web+Services+Root

  • Error 503--Service Unavailable. Error while Test the webservice

    Hi...
I created a webservice and deply it into a remote weblogic server. It deployed there and when I click on Test client, it shows this error.
    Error 503--Service Unavailable
From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:
    10.5.4 503 Service Unavailable
The server is currently unable to handle the request due to a temporary overloading or maintenance of the server. The implication is that this is a temporary condition which will be alleviated after some delay. If known, the length of the delay may be indicated in a Retry-After header. If no Retry-After is given, the client SHOULD handle the response as it would for a 500 response.
Note: The existence of the 503 status code does not imply that a server must use it when becoming overloaded. Some servers may wish to simply refuse the connection.
    How we can rectify this.
    hope for a reply...
    Resmi.

Check the WLS server log files for a more detailed error (stacktrace).

  • Team Foundation Server 2013 with SharePoint Foundation 2013 - Search not available?

    Hello,
we installed a TFS 2013  and let it deploy SharePoint Foundation on the same server. We are now faced with the fact that search in the teamsites is not working. I tried to get that search service up and running in a number of ways but it appears
as if there's no search service at all.
I have seen all the blogs where people are explaining how to provision a search service application for SharePoint Foundation but none of these ways work.
So, my question... is it possible to get it working?
PS. Please don't advice to post this on the TFS forum... I'm coming from there. They just closed my question as answered with the advice to post it in the SharePoint forum.
    TIA,
    Bart

    Well,
When you go to the Search Settings in the Site Actions menu of a site, a message is displayed that there's no search Service. Which is kind of normal since there's no Search Service Application provisioned.
When I go to Central Administration => Services on Server => There's no Search Service.
When I go to Central Administration and I run the configuration wizard, there's no search service application to be provisioned.
There's a Search Administration section in the General Settings but it only displays the upper section. The lower section (with the Search Service Application information) just gives me nothing. An animated loading icon.
I tried to provision the services with psconfig (psconfig -cmd services -install) but there's still no search service to be found anywhere. After this, I do have a Search Host Controller service but when I try to start it in Central Administration, it just
    gives me an error.
I'm starting to think it's not a full SharePount Foundation which is shipped with TFS.
The only thing we want to achieve is that a user can search for a document he uploads in a team site which is created by TFS. Seems not possible... unless I'm missing something here.
