the promised VSS-integration.
Personally, I'd go with CVS.

Team working in JDeveloper 10g

All,
I wondered if any of you had any thoughts or suggestions on team working in JDeveloper?
I've just completed my first JDeveloper project and had the benefit of being the sole developer. We're now looking at doing some more projects with JDeveloper and could do with some pointers regarding how to set up the structure of an application so that multiple developers can work on it. We use Serena ChangeManager for version control, so any suggestions that are compatible with this would be especially welcome!

(p.s. I'd also prefer that you stick to the "current" production release of JDeveloper - there seems to be a tendency in here for people to recommend the latest, greatest version (i.e. 11g), in spite of it only being a technology preview. I wouldn't ride in a pre-production airliner, so why should I do real, production work in an unfinished IDE?)

I have a few to start the discussion going.
1). Use your version control system. Even if there is no JDev plugin, use it! (this is a no-brainer, of course).
2). Put the JDeveloper artifacts in version control too. By this, I mean the jpr and jws files.
3). Ensure everyone uses the same coding style preferences, otherwise you can get lots of "bouncing checkins" because one guy likes 3 spaces and some gal likes 4 for indents
4). Be aware of potential issues when checking in Business Components to source control. For example, if you check in the xml file associated with an AM, but not the java files, you're in for some fun!
5). Especially early in the development cycle, if you are using ADF Business Components, the Application Module can become a point of contention among developers. You may want to think about having one person control them - or if not - be sure you have good lines of team communication when they are being changed. It's not the easiest thing to do to deal with merging AM configuration files by hand.
These are some of the ones that jump to mind.

ADF is not working in JDeveloper 10g

Hi all,
I've been trying to get ADF to work with JDeveloper 10g but to no avail. I've followed the steps from the following link: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/how-to-adf-faces-10gjdev-085657.html
the only thing that i fail to follow is in creating the library. I have only the adf-faces-api.jar and adf-faces-impl.jar but not the share-1_1_18.jar
I do not know whether this is creating the problem as my error message is not helpful.

Now that I've looked at the linked article...
That was showing you how to use a very early version of ADF Faces (a pre-release, in fact) with a very old version of JDeveloper. That document is nearly 9 years old.
Starting with JDeveloper 10.1.3, ADF Faces is "built-in"
And since JDeveloper 10.1.3.x, we have had both the JDeveloper 11.1.1.x and 11.1.2.x series released.
Why are you still using 10.1.2.x?

There is no difference please be aware that each login is provided with two activations however. If you wish to have a computer at both work and home activated though that is perfectly fine as long as your employer is ok with using company software at home.

Workflow : not able to find team working option in SWDD 4.7

In ECC 6, the username of latesh aditional changes done to a workflow can be find out by option team working. I am not able to find the same option in 4.7.
Is it not available in 4.7? can somebody help here.

Check sap Note 1838654.may be it will help you.
As you mentioned you are on BO 4.0 Patch 11 it is very low patch.More possibilities these are bugs and SAP identified and fixed in later patches.
Better to upgrade on latest service pack and see.

Weblogic portal 10.3.1 framework and UCM 10gR3 code works in Jdeveloper

We are using weblogic portal 10.3.1 framework and UCM 10gR3. Now we want to use Jdeveloper (because we can integrate site studio using plugin) instead of weblogic workshop.
So my question is does the existing code works in Jdeveloper (because it supports Webcenter portal)?.

No. Eclipse/Worskhop is the development IDE for WLP. While you can probably edit many of the WLP artifacts in JDeveloper, since they're mostly XML files, JDeveloper won't understand the WLP project structure, understand many of the libraries or know how to deploy to a WLP domain.

Fusion Order Demo zip file which works with JDeveloper 11.1.1.3.0

Hi,
Please can anyone tell me where to find the Fusion Order Demo zip file that will work with JDeveloper 11.1.1.3.0 (latest version 13/5/10).
I have downloade OracleXE 10g for Windows on my laptop and now want to create the Fusion Schemas (Tables/Schemas/Procedures etc) for the Demos.
I have downloaded FOD_11.zip, FusionOrderDemo_R1.zip and tryed the instructiion for running Fusion Order Demo here http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/jdev.html but each time I get the error
"oracle.javacache_11.1.1 not found"
How can I fix this?
I want to learn Jdeveloper works and use it for Logical and Physical Schema mapping....

Thanks for the quick reply, and yes sir, I did follow those instructions.
Let me describe what all I have done so far, maybe someone can figure out where I need to fix anything:
I installed JDeveloper version 11.1.1.3.0, which came with its own WebLogic server, on my windows xp professional OS on my laptop.
I then downloaded the zip file, FusionOrderDemo_R1PS2.zip.
I encountered a problem while unzipping the file, where it was asking me some password for a few files, but Lynn from Oracle helped me figure that out....i had to use 7-zip utility to uninstall....windows default built-in unzip utility does not work.
After unzipping all files, I followed the instructions given on http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/index-095536.html to import, build and run the application....
And now when it runs....it just open my browser window (IE 7), and shows a "loading..." image in the center of the page....nothing happens after that.
Any idea what might be missing?
a few major errors I see in the wls log window of jdeveloper are:
1) <DCBindingContainer><reportException> [3952] oracle.jbo.JboException: JBO-29000: Unexpected exception caught: java.sql.SQLDataException, msg=ORA-01882: timezone region not found
2) <DCBindingContainer><reportException> [3958] oracle.jbo.JboException: JBO-29000: Unexpected exception caught: java.lang.NullPointerException, msg=null
3) <UIXInclude><tearDownVisitingContext> Tear down of include component context failed due to an unhandled exception.java.util.NoSuchElementException

VISUALSVN - merge branch dont work in jdeveloper 11.1.2.1.0

I am using jdeveloper 11.1.2.1.0
I want to update my branch with trunk revision so i select branch as current application then i select versioning>merge

The problem is that it doen´t update my working copy... If i do same procedure with tortoiseSVN client it work but doesnt work with jdeveloper.
What could be the problem??

You can't use 11.1.2.3 for portlet creation.
You need 11.1.1.6 and then use the help->check for update option in the menu to get the WebCenter extension.

JDeveloper 11 does not yet provide documentation about the integration with Seam (not only the technology but also the documentation is in early preview stage). However, this is an interesting question you ask and I'll follow up to see if we can get some document out in short term.

I am the only one who is working in EP Development . Now we are planning to take some people into the same field.
So ! I need to have Idea about how the team work can be done in EP Development. How to distribute the work and and ask the others to develop the components.

JavaScript fails to work in JDeveloper (but works in Eclipse)

I'm going crazy over this. Hope someone here can help me out.
I'm in the process of migrating a JAVA web application from WebSphere to Oracle App Server 10g.
Two days ago, I ran into an issue which is driving me nut. My javascript code which works fine
in Eclipse (WebSphere) fails to work in JDeveloper !!!
I've tried to figure this out by creating some simple .jsp test pages and the same thing happens.
They work in WebSphere but don't work in JDeveloper !!!
What I'm trying to do is to use a javascript function to reassign the "action" of the current .jsp page.
In Eclipse, I click the button, the action is reassigned and the submit() function loads the new page.
In JDeveloper, the action is reassigned. HOWEVER, the OLD page is loaded!!!
I'd really appreciate any pointers. Thanks in advance.

P.S. I've noticed that if I change the action to execute an html file (example: form.action = "index.html")
this will work. So, I'm thinking it has something to do with JavaServer Faces.

I've found that sometimes I have to force my browser to dump the cached version of some Javascript, and load a fresh copy from the web server. You can do that by clearing private data, or by finding the names of all the *.js files being loaded by your page (view source), typing their URLs and pressing the refresh button.
I'm thinking that maybe deployment to OAS does not reset the last modified date on these files so that the web browser doesn't know that the file has changed and it shouldn't use the cached copy.

OK, have you tried to rename or remove the system12.1.2.x.x.x folder and start jdev again?
Jdev will recreate this folder when you start jdev the next time. If yo uare asked if you want to migrate answer 'no' as you other wise migrate the error too.
If you now can start jdev successfully you have to make changes you made to the preferences.
