Technical: What user permissions needed to update Dreamweaver (or Studio MX)? (Win XP)

Hello everybody,
does anyone know, what user permissions are needed under
Windows XP Professional, so that the users can update Dreamweaver
by themselves? Currently every time a new update is released,
someone with an administrator account has to log in and update
Dreamweaver. It would be nice if the users could do that by
themselves.
System info: Windows XP Prof. clients in a network, user
rights managed via Windows 2003 Server with Active Directory.
I have this problem regarding whole Macromedia Studio MX
(Fireworks, Flash, Freehand and Contribute, too)...
I've already contacted Adobe support, but they only answered
with this one sentence: "Dear xyz, Please address this question to
Microsoft." (great support, woohoo *sarcasm*)

Sounds to me like the users need to be made local
administrators of
their computer. The administrator comes, logs on to the PC,
and goes to
start, control panel, user accounts. Then click "Add"... they
type in
your user name (or whoever uses that computer), and then for
"Domain"
puts the name of the computer. Click Next. Then select
"Other", and
"Administrators".. .then click Finish. You are now
administrator of
your computer but not of the Network Domain. You can download
updates
and make changes to your computer without being able to make
changes to
the network.

    Go to SMSY and generate the RFC for the particular system, client combination then the users and all will be created automatically with proper roles assigned.

    If you want to update the BIOS you need the version 5.60. The other version are for Vista and only 5.60 is for XP and so its the right one for you.
    The BIOS update procedure is pretty easy. The update is Windows based that mean you can update it on Windows. Therefore extract all files from the zip archive and start the exe file. Then your BIOS will be updated.
    But before you update it, close all running programs even your AntiVirus and Firwall and connect the AC/DC adaptor.

  • It says I've successfully updated programs, then go back to what else I need to update, still says I need to update. Makes me nervous, am I updated or in danger

    It happened with Abobe reader. It has happened with Adobe Flash. In instructions is says to download to flash 10.3 but that keeping the programs are critical to keeping computer safe. Even with Norton, I know that things can get through. This happens with other things I have updated as well.

    Last time I checked, that page ''only'' recognizes the very latest version as up-to-date, e.g., Flash 11.7 and Adobe Reader 11.0.2. Adobe does have some older versions that are still receiving security updates, e.g., Flash 10.3 and Adobe Reader 10.1.6. If you can confirm with Adobe's site that your plugins are still up-to-date in the earlier series, then that information is more accurate than the Plugin Check page.

    I had a computer crash and had to reinstall my Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 again and it claims the updates are not available.  Seems when the computer was OK before the crash I had it updated to 9.4 or something like that.  Now I can't install any updates.  All updates are still available on www.adobe.com.  I hope someone can help me get this updated.  When I try opening the Help tab and select Check for Updates it says there are none but I believe there are updates but not supported anymore by Adobe.

    You can uninstall Acrobat, run the cleaner tool then re-install or you download the updates manually from the adobe web site.

    I could not find Acrobat 9 updates on the Adobe web site. You can find the updates on the adobe ftp file.

    Well, try this (I was able to fix my with these steps):
    Go Utilities > Disk Utility
    Select your Startup Disk, e.g. Macintosh HD
    Then, under the First Aid Tab, click Verify Disk Permissions.
    If there are errors, then click repair Disk Permissions.
    After it is done, restart the computer and see if your problem is resolved.

    Assuming you've done a system wide search for it including the Applications folder and it's not there......
    I think you will need to address this with them - did you pay them for the application? Or was your purchase price to include it? And the question(s) to ask them:
    If the app store states that it has been downloaded, ask them where it is and which Apple ID they used. (the store keeps track of Apple IDs and machine IDs on everything you download).
    I have absolutely no faith in their advice; however, in this case, it's not so much technical advice, but an answer to your questions: you paid for something and it appears not to be there.

    Exactly! The password I used to log on here and write my post I figured was the same Apple ID password I would use to reset my computer login password. But my computer isn't recognizing it as the correct password so it wont let me update my login password. I have 2 user accounts on my computer.
    As far as the link you provided, I already looked to that for help earlier. It states:
    Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Users & Groups, click the lock to unlock it, then provide an administrator name and password. Select a user, then click Reset Password.
    I did these steps, but I don't remember my admin password. The question is: How do I reset my admin password so I can reset my log in password.

    Hi Steve,
    Yes, with this confirguration, every Office 365 client will automatically check updates from the update location configured during setup - "Share", in your case.
    You should make sure that it's a share (like an internal UNC or HTTP path) that every Office 365 client has permission to access.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    If you haven't done so already you need to migrate your mail account to iCloud first and do so IMMEDIATELY at the website Move
    Then
    Delete your mail account from Mail preferences and set it up again using the Mail Server Information.
    Some users have apparently encountered issues using this information in pre-Lion set ups (I haven't), Roger Wilmut has kindly provided instructions for those who find themselves with this problem.
