Teeniest of a fraction delay in playing tracks after inactive period

I have an itunes playlist which I'm using for playing tracks during a theatre production. When I select a track and hit enter, it plays at once. But If I select it and wait until the right moment in the play for the cue, which could be 30 secs or 70 secs later, when i hit Enter, there is the slightest delay of a fraction of a second before it plays. It's as if, beyond a minimum number of seconds of inactivity, it dozes off.
Not a huge deal in a party, but in a play, the delay can make quite a substantial difference.
Can I do something to fix this?

I too have noticed a lack of responsiveness in iTunes at times. I am not sure if this is due to a large library, smart playlists, whatever. If you are using a separate hard drive make sure Energy Saver preferences are not set to put it to sleep. If you have a large library consider trimming it down, or make a second library just for the play. Hold down the option key while starting iTunes to make a new library.
Consider using a different player than iTunes. Cog is free. It doesn't have anywhere near the features of iTunes but maybe you don't need all that many for what you are doing. Consider using iTunes to manage your tracks but then use Cog the day of the play.

Premiere freezing and delayed playback, plays audio after force quit

I'm working with 350 hours of AVCHD c100 and h264 from 5D. The media is on a thunderbolt RAID 1 and I'm running CC 2014 on a 2014 Mac Pro with 6 cores, 3gb GPU and 32GB ram.
After about an hour of editing, I get delayed playback, and delayed response from keyboard or trackpad input. I can save - and after that I've waited up to a half an hour while the program is frozen. If it froze during playback, the audio continues to play through the system even after force quit. The only way to start over is a system restart.
any ideas? I've had trouble moving projects in the past, and media cache issues were to blame for similar symptoms, but it's much worse this time

First two things to check are permissions and prefs.
Prefs: go to Documents/Adobe/Premiere Pro/8.0 and rename the folder "<username>-Profile." When you launch PPro, all new prefs will be written.

Track delays before playing - Help please

DSP - 3 One of my tracks seems to delay before playing and I end up with a black screen before it begins. I went back to Final Cut and can't find any problem with it there. All my other tracks start fine. Help please.

Where are you seeing this? On a DVD player or in Simulator? What kind of menu are you using?
The delay on a disc is usually (but not always) related to where the menu is physically located (usually near the spindle hole) compared to the track (anywhere else moving outwards towards the edge of the disc), and the routing tables which DVDSP creates on your behalf when the disc is built. Not all menu/track relationships will see the same delay and you can perhaps reduce it by adding the asset for the troublesome track into another track and setting it apart with a story. Your menu can then point to the assets within the story and it should make a difference.
However, the delay you see on your player will almost certainly be different to that seen on another player - without using a spec level authoring package (or trying it in DVDSP4 where you can move menus into specific VTSs) you may well be stuck with it as it is if adding the asset to an existing track doesn't work.

Playing Tracks one At a Time In ITunes

Hi.
I am a totally blind person who uses ITunes. I noticed that when playing a track from an album I have purchased from the ITunes store, it plays the rest of the tracks from that album as one playlist, rather than just playing one track at a time.
Is there a way to set ITunes to play one track at a time instead of as a playlist? If so, is there someone out there who is also visually impaired that uses ITunes for Windows and this forum that could possibly provide me with step by step instructions using key strokes on how to fix this problem?
Please let me know whenever possible. Thank you very much.

Beside the songs in iTunes are little check boxes. If songs are unchecked then they have to be clicked on individually to play them. So by unchecking you can play songs individually and not have them play one after another. Holding down the CRTL (Control) key and clicking beside any song in a list or library will toggle the check marks in the boxes on or off.

ITunes playing tracks out of order

Ever since upgrading to iTunes 11 I've had a problem with some albums playing tracks out of order.
I put the track number in the file names and track titles, so sometimes I leave the track number field blank. Not a problem, because iTunes sorts the tracks alphabetically so it lists them in the right order.
In album view, if I select the first track, it plays all the tracks in the right order. But if I select the album, either by double-clicking the album cover or by searching for it from the mini player, it plays them in a random order.
This makes no sense. What's going on here?

So that's an obvious solution (and what I just did in this particular case). But it's an annoying bit of extra work and, more importantly, since it was never necessary before, I have a lot of albums which don't have track numbers. Because, as I said, they always displayed and played in the correct order regardless. So the track number tag was extraneous.
What I'm wondering is whether there's a fix for this behavior.
And also whether it's possible to implore the iTunes development team to fix this! If the tracks are listed in a certain order, they should always play in that order.

Can I play tracks from my iPod via Airport Express on only from my laptop?

I can play tracks from my laptop thorugh my Bose Lifestyle Airport Express. Is there a way to play tracks from my iPod Touch through my Bose system via Airport Express? My Airport Express is set up as a client to my Sky Broadband wireless router.

I set up my laptop to my Bose Lifestyle System via Airport Express. It may be different for MAC but I just downloaded the Airport Express software and followed the on-screen set-up procedure, which includes entering your WI-FI key. I do not have an iPad. You need to select Airport Express in iTunes as your sound media. This is easily switched by an icon in the bottom right corner of the screen. You will need to switch this back if you want to revert to using the laptop speakers.

Use Flash Media Server to stream the files.......set up a timer and have all three of them play at once....and have a button switch the streams depending upon which stream you want to play.....and wallah......
you can also capture the stream.time from the video playing and resume from that point on the other videos as well....havent done this theoretically so I dont know how smooth the transistion between streams will be....but it can be done....
plus u may have to use double buffering techniques to make sure it starts up right away......

Ipod shuffle won't play tracks in order

My ipod shuffle won't play tracks in order even when I have the shuffle button off. I have sync'd it on itunes to play in order but it just continues to shuffle all the tracks! Please help. Thanks

I found a post about this problem from November, it is apparently how the iPod Shuffle handles podcasts. It sorts them in REVERSE chronological order, and moves them to the top of the play list. It's unbelievable that Apple has let a problem like this persist for so long.

It offers a way to partially fix the problem, but one that I find entirely unacceptable. The only lasting solution mentioned was to buy a different mp3 player, which I'll be doing as soon as I return my Shuffle and get my money back.
The sad thing is that in addition to Apple losing money on the sale of a Shuffle, they're also loosing money on songs I would be purchasing from iTunes (I got a $20 gift certificate for my b-day that I'm going to sell to buy other music that will play on a non-Apple mp3 player), and they might loose potential customers because I've been complaining about this to everybody I know!

Authorization needed to play tracks purchased on old account

iTunes has started asking for me to authorize to play tracks on my iMac bought on a previous iTunes account - it's never done this before. The further problem is this account doesn't seem to exist any more - at least itunes doesn't recognise the account name, or any likely passwords I type in or my date of birth.
The tracks play without a problem on my iPhone (which gets synched from the iMac).
(I don't know if it's relevent that the old iTunes account ID was a hotmail address which has vanished without trace into the new MS Outlook system).
Any advice out there on why it's now happening or how to proceed to get access to my tracks again?

I-Phone stopping playing music after one track

I have a i-phone 3G and when I use the i-pod function it will play music fine until the next track and then it will stop and go back to the main i-phone screen. Anyone got any ideas why this is the case?

Are there check marks beside all the songs in your itunes library? Unchecked songs have to be clicked on individually to play them, checked songs will play one after the other.

Typical behaviour:Example 1:- I play tracks from an album.- I pause mid-way through a track, lock my machine and briefly walk away- I return to my machine to hear it playing random (yet similar) songs that I have never listened to before. Usually weird ambient sound scape such as the sound of people drinking in a bar or nature. Example 2: - I am listening to an album, suddenly the same random ambient sound tracks will start playing. If I look at spotify connect - I can see there is an option for "Spotiamb 0.2.1" - this is something I have never installed and have no idea what it is. Could this be somehow related? I'm having the same issues. My girlfriend got up around 3am the other morning because she heard my ipod touch play songs (32 GB, 3rd generation) as well. I'm also having problems with video sorting. For example: I have 3 seasons of this show called The Mighty Boosh (good show btw) and it is sorting by episodes. It's hard to explained:
1st season has 8 episodes
2nd season 6
3rd season 6
So it is sorting: episode 1 from season 2, episode 1 from season 3, episode 1 from season 1 and then episode 2 from season 2 and blah blah blah, you get the picture don't you?
I called apple and I did a reset to factory setting and put all 20 episodes back in and the problem is still there. It all started when I updated ipod to 3.1.1 ver or what ever the last ver. one was and the new itunes 9. But the songs playing by itself is something that I have yet found out why is doing it. And its like evey few hours. I would hate to return it and get a refurbish because this was brand new and thats what exactly what the are going to do if I return it. So I am hoping that it is a ver. issue or maybe new itunes related so I won't have to return it and get a refurbished one.

Flag current playing track

I've recently upgraded from 8.0.2 to 8.2 (due to performance issues with 8.1+ versions) and have noticed that iTunes is no longer showing an icon next to the currently playing track.
From the "View" menu I can select "Show Current Song" however that just highlights it in the list of tracks.
This is probably a simple setting that I must have overlooked but can't figure out how to turn this indicator back on so that the list of tracks shows the current playing track with an icon.
Any ideas?

The speaker icon will only show where that song was selected to play.
If you select a playlist and select the song then play, it will not show the speaker next to the song in Music or any other playlist.
Also, if you select the song in Music and play it, it will not show the speaker in any playlists.

Since Lion came pre installed on your Mac, the App Store doesn't not recognize that as a purchase so you if you want to re download Lion to create a boot disk you will have to pay for it. You can then re download Lion on all your authorized Macs for free.

Playing tracks at intervals when on random

Does anybody have any idea if it's possible to set itunes to play a specific track at set intervals within a random playlist?
Say I've got a random playlist of 500 tracks but I want it to play track one after every 5 random tracks. Is that possible?
Any help would be much appreciated.

If you mean to have it work that way automatically, then no.
But if you have a playlist, and want to add the same track into position 5, 10, 15, 20, etc, you can do it just by dragging the song from Music into the position(s) on the playlist as many times as you want.
