Template discrepancy between Adobe Contribute versions

Hello everyone, I have a couple of different versions  of Contribute in my organization. We built a template that works for  the CS4 version, but has a peculiar error in the CS3 version, and I was  wondering if a Contribute expert might provide some guidance.
We built the template in Dreamweaver, with the standard TemplateParam  statements at the top. All of them are just editable regions except for  one, the ID field:
TemplateParam name="eid" type="text" content="your eid"
Values based on that ID are fetched and formatted with a PHP script in the template body:
#include virtual="includes/scripts/name.php?eid=@@(eid)@@"
The problem is that if we attempt to edit any template properties in  CS3, such as turning them on or off, it will disable our PHP script  completely (all fields come back empty), and we have to abandon the  changes. Not so in Contribute 4, which works as expected.
This is a pretty specific inquiry, so any assistance would be appreciated.

>>>>>- I am not able to select individual
files to include/exclude from editing for a role (no files show,
only folders),
- or identify a template (nothing shows to select) a role
uses for creating new pages,
- or select a template (nothing shows to select) when
creating a new page as any user, including an administrator.
- I was able to setup a role to only include editing drafts,
however in testing I was able to publish even though the setting
was just to save drafts.
On editing a role you can't select a files (Only you can
restrict the user to some particular folder ). In Edit Administer
Setting on New Pages category, there is option to select the
template, you want to show to for the role and you can also select
template. If General category if Allow user to publish is unchecked
then, the user belongs to that particular role is not allowed to
publish the page.

  • Signature security setting change  between Adobe Acrobat versions

    Hi,
    I created a document using Adobe Acrobat 9 that requires individuals to sign the document using their electronic signature.  There are no security settings on this document when it was created using Acrobat 9.  However when users that have Acrobat 11 open the document, the security settings don't allow signatures.  Does anyone know what I need to do in order to change the security settings such that it is compatible with all versions of Acrobat?  I would prefer to avoid buying a new version of Acrobat in order to create a document that will be compatible for all users if at all possible.

    I found out the issue.  I'm running Acrobat Pro IX and the user was having problems with Acrobat Reader XI.  When I enabled the reader extender to allow for signatures using version IX, it would not work on the users computer.  I had to download the trial version of XI save using the reader extender function before the individual could actually electronically sign the document.  Since that was the only solution to my problem, I would have to conclude that XI is not backwards compatible with Acrobat IX when the file has been saved to allow for users with Acrobat Reader to sign.

  • Differences between the "Adobe Acrobat Versions 7 and 9"

    Dear Adobe Support Team,
    I need to know the differences between the "Adobe Acrobat Versions 7 and 9". I have worked with Acrobat 7 and have used the same script after installing Acrobat 9 for Automation Testing with QTP for validating pdf. The object "AcroExch.AVDoc" is not getting identified as object while working in QTP in the system/machine which has Acrobat 9 installed, whereas it works well in the machine which has Acrobat 7 installed . So it will be better if two things are known as per my understanding, ie.,
    it must have compatibility issue (i need the difference between "Adobe Acrobat versions 7 & 9" to assure this) or
    installation issue( which can be confirmed if the former question is answered).
    So i kindly request you to help me out for this scenario.
    Kind Regards,
    Vikraman.G

    Countless new features were introduced between Acrobat 7 and 9, are you really expecting us to type out a full list from memory?
    If you are having specific issues with the Acrobat SDK, first refer to the Acrobat SDK for the higher version. If there remains an issue I suggest posting about the specific problem in the Acrobat SDK forum, rather than asking for an encylopedia of all possible information...
    Note that Adobe do not support multiple installations of Acrobat on the same machine, so you can expect development issues if you do this.

  • Adobe Contribute CS4 crashes on launch

    Running OS X 10.6.2 on 17 in MacBook Pro
    Just upgraded Adobe Contribute (v 4) to Adobe Contribute CS4 (v 5.0.2). The application crashes on launch. Tried booting in safe-mode but it made no difference. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no effect. Wiped out the preferences files and started over agin. No difference. Rather frustrating to pay $100 for an upgrade and the software is unusable.
    Any suggestions?

    Thanks for the advice - I did contact Adobe. I assume it will take 3 days for them to tell me to reinstall the CS4 suite.

  • Adobe Reader versions - difference

    What is the difference between Adobe Reader version 11.0.02 and 11.0.03? The recommended version for me to upload an application is 11.0.02. I was told to use this  version. However, isn't version 11.0.03 a more updated one?

    11.0.3 contains various security and other fixes; you should use this version.

  • Making a Template for Adobe Contribute - without Dreamweaver

    Given  the task of making a web page that must exhibit regions editable with  Adobe Contribute CS5, and having only a plain text editor (not  Dreamweaver), exactly what needs to be done to the associated XHTML  file?  For example:
    1.  Does the XHTML file need to be named with an extension other than ".html"?
    2.   When denoting an editable region within the XHTML, what is the exact  syntax of the "begin editable" and "end editable" tags?
    3.   Is a CSS file referenced within the XHTML in the typical fashion, or  must something special be done to reference a CSS file?
    Are there other changes that need to be made to an XHTML file in order for it to work properly with Adobe Cintribute CS5?
    Thank you in advance for your helpful responses.
    *** Please note that this question was posted earlier; perhaps errantly, in the Contribute forum.

    The 'child' page can be named with any extension.

    It's all just HTML - and needs to work properly on the server.  Nothing special needs to be done.

    No.
    I assume your client IS using Contribute.
    But - a word of skepticism.  This sounds like a project bound to fail.  I know templates like the back of my hand (liver spots and all) and would hesitate to take it on....

  • Adobe contribute cs5 wurde unerwartet beendet - Mac Yosemite Version 10.10.2 (14C1514)

    Hallo
    Vielen Dank!

    The latest version of Adobe Contribute isn't compatible with the latest Mac OS so an older version wouldn't be either.

  • Edit Responsive Design template using Adobe Contribute

    Hi,
    I am creating a website which is based on responsive design layout. I am using HTML5 and CSS3 for the framework.
    It has 5 static pages e.g. "About US", "FAQ", "Contact US"
    My customer wants to edit the content of the page using Adobe Contribute. E.g. want to edit the content in about us or Contact Us.
    Now whenever we edit content using Contribute, it sometimes adds styles or <p> tags.
    Please advise if we establish the website server in Contribute, can the text will be editable using Contribute CS5?
    If yes, what will be its pros & cons?
    Thank you
    Monica Mandal

    While designing Responsive layout we have three css frameworks: Skeleton, Bootstrap and Foundation.
    If we are creating CMS Responsive layout (where user can edit using Contribute), is there any way to decide which CSS framework is more preferable for Contribute?
    Use whichever stylesheets best support your project goals.

  • Adobe Contribute CS3 Connection Error

    I am trying to use Adobe Contribute CS3 Version 3.1 to connect our web server.  I can use WS_FTP and WinSCP to connect to it fine.  Our web server is running under CentOS 5.x.  When I try to connect using the connection wizard in Contribute, I receving the following error:
    Contribute cannot verify your connection information.
    /tmp
    Please  contact your administrator for assistance.
    I have tried both FTP and SFTP.  Again, I can login, navigate to /tmp and upload, download, and delete files fine using WinSCP.  Can someone let me know what Contribute is trying to do to verify the connection?  Is there a log file?  Any help is appreciated.

    When I first tried to connect to our web server, I received a similar error.  What worked for me was getting rid of the folder designation when trying to connect in Contribute (in your case /tmp) and allowing users to have permissions to access all folders on the web server.  I create Contribute roles to limit the users to specific folders.
    I hope that helps.

  • What is difference between adobe photoshop  and photoshop extended cs5

    what is difference between adobe photoshop  and photoshop extended cs5

    Hi,
    The biggest difference is the 3D feature set is only available in Ps Extended CS5. Exclusive to Extended CS5 also are timeline for video editing, Dicom format support, Stack mode blending, analysis measurement tools, and some 32-bit painting capabilities.
    Some things have changed for the Photoshop Extended CS6 version, mainly enabling more of the video editing features for both products.

  • Conflict between Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader and how I fixed it

    For the past 5 years, I have owned Adobe Acrobat version 9, and recently installed Adobe Reader as well (version 10.7). I was previously able to set up Firefox to use Acrobat to display PDF files in the browser without downloading them, but I recently noticed that this was no longer the case. Instead, every PDF file I tried to view was being downloaded instead. I came here to find a solution, and discovered that many other people are having similar problems. I followed the instructions given here (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/view-pdf-files-firefox-without-downloading-them), but found that they were actually UNhelpful. They tell you to turn off the Firefox PDF viewer by editing about:config to disable the file pdfs.js, which is the native Firefox PDF viewer-- but that will cause the PDF file type to disappear from the Tools/Options dialog, so you can't assign it to another program (whether Adobe or anything else). This makes it impossible to assign the Adobe plugin to open PDF files. I did figure out a solution on my own, and wanted to post it here to help other users with the same problem.
    I ultimately learned, through trial and error and a lot of research both here and on Adobe's website, that the root cause of my problem was a conflict in Firefox between Acrobat and Reader. I was able to solve it by upgrading Acrobat, getting rid of Reader and enabling the Firefox PDF viewer so that I could assign the PDF file type to the Acrobat plugin within Firefox. Here are the details of my problem and how I solved it:
    1. Acrobat and Reader conflict with each other in Firefox, but this isn't totally Firefox's fault. It's mostly Adobe's fault, and they pretty much admit it. Specifically, they say that Acrobat and Reader can't coexist on the same machine unless both are version 10 or higher. They tell you to upgrade to solve the problem--but I can't afford to pay for a new version of Acrobat. If you have to keep Acrobat 9.x, Adobe says the lowest version of Reader that will work with it is Reader 11. I couldn't upgrade to this because I have Vista, and Adobe hasn't issued Reader 11 for Vista (and doesn't plan to). I did cheat and download the Win 7 version of Reader 11, but it didn't help.
    2. If you have both Acrobat and Reader, you can choose a setting in Reader to make it the default PDF handler--but Firefox ignores this information and defaults to Acrobat no matter what. (This is the part we can blame Firefox for.) If you have a version of Acrobat which is below 9.5.5, Firefox actually blocks it as a security risk, so the plugin won't work at all, regardless of version number. That's why PDFs are being downloaded through your standalone program instead of being displayed in the browser. If you want to view PDFs in Firefox and keep Acrobat on your computer, you MUST upgrade Acrobat to version 9.5.5 or above.
    3. Unless you can upgrade Acrobat to at least 10.x, GET RID OF READER. As long as you can access Acrobat 9.5.5, it will work fine in Firefox and there's no need for Reader. I never used to have Reader myself, only Acrobat, but it must have been downloaded automatically when Acrobat was blocked by Firefox (which I didn't even realize).
    4. IF YOU NEED TO UPGRADE ACROBAT 9.X TO 9.5.5, YOUR LAST CHANCE IS TODAY--6/26/13. Adobe has announced that today is the "end of life" for the Acrobat 9.x platform, and all support and upgrades will cease after today.
    When I searched for updates by going to Adobe's website, it told me there were none available--but when I checked for them FROM THE ACROBAT PROGRAM ITSELF (Help/Check for updates), I was offered a 300 MB upgrade that took me all the way from version 9.0 to 9.5.5 in one step. (It did take a very long time to download and install.)
    5. Once you have Acrobat 9.5.5, this is how to enable it in Firefox:
    a. INSIDE ACROBAT, set your preference for "Internet" to "view PDF files in browser." Close Acrobat. Close Firefox if it's already open.
    b. Reopen Firefox. Check Tools/Add-Ons/Plugins to make sure the Acrobat plugin is there. Enable it if disabled. Close Firefox.
    If the plugin isn't there at all, repair your Acrobat installation through Control Panel. Then return to Firefox and enable it. Close Firefox.
    c. Reopen Firefox again. Go to Tools/Options and check the list of file types. For the names that contain "Adobe" and "Acrobat," Acrobat should be set as the default program to open them. Select it from the drop-down list if it's not. Continue to scroll through the alphabetical list--you should see another entry called Portable Document Format. If it's there, the default will be "preview in Firefox." You should be able to change this to "Acrobat (in Firefox)" using the drop-down menu. Do NOT pick the option that says "Acrobat"--this is the standalone program and will cause your PDFs to be downloaded.
    If you don't see "Acrobat (in Firefox)" as an option, this means your plugin is not working. Go back and fix it using the instructions above (including repair of Acrobat if necessary).
    d. If you don't see a file type for "Portable Document Format" at all, that means the Firefox PDF viewer is disabled. You must enable it by editing the about:config file. To see it, type about:config in the Firefox address bar. You will get a warning message--just click OK and keep going.
    This file is a long list of statements in alphabetical order. LOOK FOR A STATEMENT THAT SAYS "pdfjs.disabled" with a Boolean value of "true." Select this statement and right-click. A context menu will offer you choices including "Toggle." Select that one, which will change the Boolean value to "false." Exit about:config. Close Firefox.
    e. Now return to Tools/Options, scroll through the list of file types, and you should see "Portable Document Format." Select "Acrobat (in Firefox)" as in the instructions above. Close Firefox.
    f. The first time you try to open a PDF file in Firefox, you may get a dialog box which offers you choices of how to open the file. The first will be Acrobat, but DON'T CHOOSE THAT--it will cause your PDF to download. Instead, go to the choice that says "Open as application/pdf." You don't need to change the program that opens this file type, because your settings are already correct. Your PDF should open in the browser, with the full-featured Acrobat menu (including the option of editing or saving the file).
    I hope other users can benefit from the truly painful experience I had figuring all of this out. Good luck.

  • No Templates In My ENCORE Trial Version on Windows VISTA

    Hi,
    No Templates In My Encore Trial Version running on Windows VISTA. Is there a way I can get the templates online?
    All help is very appreciated!!!!

    I got the Premeire CS4 trial version right off the adobe website. So I start going through Encore tutorials from Adobe and they have the templates but for some reason I don't. These are supposed to fully working 30 day trials.
    The fine print on the trials page indicates that licensing issues will cripple some functions in the trial versions.
    The Encore tutorials no doubt use the fully licensed version of the software.  Be aware that "fully working" does not mean the same thing as "includes additional content".  Templates definitely fall into the additonal content category as they have no effect on the actual workings of the program.  Adobe and other software companies often include extra content like templates as bonuses or goodies for the folks who purchase the software.

  • How to have PDF open in Internet Explorer 7 (Adobe reader version XI)

    Hello,
    we would like to know how to open PDF in internet browser. Our browser version is IE7, Adobe Reader version is XI.
    Thanks,
    Jason

    XI Pro contains all of the capabilities of Reader and a lot more. If you can't see the PDF, you may have the view in browser unchecked in Acrobat, or more likely your Acrobat is not updated to be compatible with the version of IE you are using (You did not mention). There may also be an issue with the OS you are running that could vary between computers (also not mentioned). First thing to do is to go to Help>Updates and be sure you are running 11.0.09. Then check the preferences (check the Internet tab).

  • NVL in view: discrepancy between 10G and 11G

    Hi,
    I've discovered some discrepancy between 10G and 11G in a way how view deals with NVL-based column in a where clause.
    Here are two examples:
    *10G:*
    Connected to:
    Oracle Database 10g Release 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
    SQL> create table test_nvl (null_column number);
    Table created.
    SQL> insert into test_nvl values (null);
    1 row created.
    SQL> commit;
    Commit complete.
    SQL> create view view_nvl as select nvl(null_column,0) null_column from test_nvl;
    View created.
    SQL> select * from view_nvl where null_column is not null and null_column = 0;
    NULL_COLUMN
    0
    *11G*
    Connected to:
    Oracle Database 11g Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production
    SQL> create table test_nvl (null_column number);
    Table created.
    SQL> insert into test_nvl values (null);
    1 row created.
    SQL> commit;
    Commit complete.
    SQL> create view view_nvl as select nvl(null_column,0) null_column from test_nvl;
    View created.
    SQL> select * from view_nvl where null_column is not null and null_column = 0;
    no rows selected
    Does anyone know why it behaves differently?
    I couldn't find any documentation regarding this.
    Or I'm just missing something here.
    Thanks
