Template generating script crashes acrobat x application

Hi,
I am fairly new to acrobat scripting. I have been beating my head against the wall on this one and have come to ask the collective. The following script works if numberPages is set to 1 (one new page is generated based on the template). When I change numberPages to 2 or more, the application crashes. Any suggestions?
This is on acrobat x, windows 7
Thanks,
Roland
var mypath = "Template1.pdf";
numberPages = 1;
this.insertPages({cPath: mypath, nPage: -1});
t = this.createTemplate({cName:"signoff", nPage:0 });
t.hidden = true;
// spawns number of pages
for (i = 0; i < numberPages; i++){
  t.spawn(i, true, false);

Looks like I finally figured it out. It was something quite silly. Apparently, hiding the template before spawning it is a bad idea (at least under certain circumstances...when there are comments in the source file and a form in the template file). This script seems to work just fine so far:
var mypath = "Template1.pdf";
numberPages = 6;
this.insertPages({cPath: mypath, nPage: -1});
t = this.createTemplate({cName:"signoff", nPage:0 });
// spawns number of pages
for (i = 0; i < numberPages; i++){
  t.spawn(i, true, false);
t.hidden = true;

    Hi Sue,
    Does this happen with any particular file or all files?
    Since the crash report above mentions accessibility.api, so are you working on any related function like adding tags etc. when Acrobat crashes?
    Disable all the 3rd party services working in the background and check.

  • Generate Scripts using DBCA in Slient install

    Hello,
    I have a template to create databases using DBCA. I woule like to generate scripts in Slient mode, using the template and later execute the scripts manaully. I understand, I need a response file for the same. What parameter should I set in the response file to indicate to just spool the scripts and NOT create the DB?
    Also, is there a way to specify the target directory for log files from DBCA? I believe it currently logs them in two destinations, I would like to make it one.
    Sathish

    To answer my own question. The install scripts are run as sql (or pl/sql) statements. You can access the pre-defined substitution strings via the v('NAME') parameter call (e.g. v('APP_USER')) but the application substitution strings, even though we are prompting for them, are not available.
    Which would make for a good enhancement.

  • Generating Scripts of permissions in Security

    Hi Steven and Sandra,
    How are you ?
    I'm interested in JheadStart too much :-)
    I'm using 10.1.3.3.0 version of JHeadStart.
    I want to customize the jhsPermissionsdata.vm and fileGenerator.vm Velocity Templates.
    Because they are generating scripts for permissions of Group Level only.
    But I want to generate permissions of Item Level also.
    What can i change to be able to generate permissions for Item Level?
    Please, Reply me ASAP
    Thanks alot....
    Rabab Youssef,
    J2EE Developer

    Rabab,
    Currently we have no support for generic item permissions in JHeadstart. The problem is in how to specify in the Application Definition what rendered (or isUpdateable) expression you want for each item. You would have to hard code the expressions for every item.
    For groups, JHeadstart supports $GROUP_NAME$, but there is no item equivalent.
    kind regards,
    Sandra

    The server JIT compiler is crashing.
    This could be an instance of bug 6332641, which will be fixed in 1.5.0_08. It has no known workaround, other than to exclude the method being compiled.
    You may want to file a bug.

  • CloseDoc is interrupting a batch run script in Acrobat X

    I am using a batch script to split a PDF file and then process (send via email) the individual pages.  Because extractPages opens the new page each time it's called, I had inserted a closeDoc referencing the new doc object so that I didn't end up with multiple open pages or crash Acrobat.  The script below worked fine when tested in Acrobat 8, but in Acrobat X I get a Dead Object error, so I've commented this out.  The script below is just a snippet from a larger script, but it does work in A8, all of those variables are defined and have values within the process.
    I checked the API and it says:
    In versions of Acrobat earlier than 7.0, a document that closes itself by executing this.closeDoc
    terminates any script that follows it. In Acrobat 7.0, the script is allowed to continue and to terminate
    naturally. However, if the Doc of the closed document is referenced, an exception will be thrown.
    I am not referencing the document object called 'send_document' after this call except in if statements that won't be run, is this still an issue, that the doc object is referenced at all?  Would it help to use a different variable name for the doc object in each section of my if/then statement?
    Right now I'm being forced to work around it because I can close all the open documents at the end, but Acrobat crashes if we open more than 50 docs, and we do have multipage PDFs with more than 50 pages we need to process.  Does this seem like an error I should report or an issue with how I'm implementing closeDoc?
         send_document = this.extractPages(cnt, cnt) ;
                send_document.mailDoc(
                    bUI: false,
                    cTo: send_to,
                    cSubject: subject_line,
                    cMsg: message_text
                send_document.closeDoc(true) ;
    Thanks ahead for any clues/help,
    JP

    Since you're not specifying the cPath parameter of extractPages it does not
    return a Doc object, but null, according to the reference file.
    Edit: My mistake, it's the other way around...
    I've run your code and it seems to work fine (although it didn't go completely smoothly as I still had to manually allow the appliction to email the files).
    Have you tried debugging it to see where the "Dead Object error" occurs?

  • Custom pagemarks (.mrk files) crash Acrobat X?

    We have some custom .mrk files (installed in /Library/Application Support/Adobe/PrintSpt) for setting custom pagemarks on print proofs.
    Generally speaking, we use them in InDesign.
    Tonight, I tried using them in Acrobat X Pro (10.1.0) under Mac OS X 10.6.8, and they crash Acrobat.
    I tried the sample pagemark files from Real World InDesign, http://blatner.com/rwid/mrk.zip, and they crash Acrobat as well.
    Does anyone have an experience with custom pagemarks in Acrobat? Are they supposed to work? Or am I just fooling myself?
    Curiously, or so it seems to me, the crash is not in the AdobeAGM librayr, but rather in the main Acrobat framework:

    Hi All,
    I am posting here in elkalamar's discussion because it is on topic for a related question that is not getting response from my own discussion thread.  I hope someone can help.
    I am using Indesign CS 5.5 on Windows 7 operating system.
    I have converted a book (pdf print) to an interactive pdf.  Almost every page has an mp3 that plays on page load and ALMOST all of it is working like a charm, except:
    there are two files (also mp3's, file size not necessarily larger than any of the other mp3s) that play in Indesign's preview panel and that also play in my iTunes media player, as well as if I export the document as an .swf.  But these two mp3s DO NOT play (or are playing with no sound somehow) in Interactive PDF export.
    If I leave the 'media player' grey box enlarged instead of hiding it, I know that the mp3 IS appearing, but no sound or not playing.  Other buttons on the same page and throughout the rest of the document work just fine.
    Any idea what could be going on with these two mp3s?
    Thanks,

  • Internet Explorer is crashing when opening application

    Internet Explorer is crashing when opening application.
    Internet Explorer 7.0.5730.11
    Oracle JInitiator 1.3.1.22

    I was having similar issues turned out to be a problem with the Jinitiator proxy setting. If you go into Win->control panel->Jinitiator Then Proxies and UNCHECKE the 'Use browser settings' option it may fix the problem.
    My Setup: Winxp SP3, IE7.0.5730.11CO, Jinitiator 1.3.1.26
    I was able to open Apps using Firefox3 fine, but IE was crashing everytime Jinitiator started. Turns out it's because of how the proxies in IE versus FF were setup, so it could open via the FF browser Proxy setting but not via the IE7 proxy settings. Telling Jinitiator to NOT use the browser setting enabled me to use both IE7 and FF3
    Note: My company uses a automated proxy configuration script (proxy.pac) so if you have a similar setup to this it may help.

  • Generated Script fails when attempting to drop Foreign Key Constraint

    I made some changes to my database.  I used the generate script process to generate a drop and create script to these tables.  The generated script first ran Alter Table Drop Constraints to drop the Foreign Key constraints and then did Drop tables
    and then did create table to construct the script with the proper changes.
    However, when we attempted to run the script, all of the Drop constraint statements failed reporting that there was no such constraint.  Then the drop table scripts failed because of the existence of the very foreign key constraints  that SQL Server
    had just stated did not exist.
    BOL states that the statement "DROP { [ CONSTRAINT ] constraint_name | COLUMN column_name } " is  "Used in a CHECK, FOREIGN KEY, UNIQUE, or PRIMARY KEY constraint."  So why couldn't I drop those specified Foreign
    Key constraints in a script generated by SQL Server itself.
    Edward R. Joell MCSD MCDBA

    Are you sure there are no Constraints on other tables which are causing your issue?
    If a foreign key from table abc refences table def it will cause the drop to fail.
    If your script is already attempting to drop such constraints, have you checked that they are dropping from the correct table (and not the table that would be the target of the drop)?
    I discovered two things yesterday and one thing today about generated scripts.
    When you generated a script to drop and create a set of tables and you mark it to include foreign keys, the generated script will first create a set a scripts to drop the foreign keys , then will create a set of statements for each table that will,
    first, again drop the same foreign keys that it did earlier, then drop the table.  If there is no "if exists" statement for each statement, the drop constraint will fail.
    The script generated by the generate scripts wizard, even when you set the Drop and Create option in the advanced tab, unlike the scripts generated when you right click a table and select Drop and Create from the context menu, does not by default create
    an "If Exists" statement before the attempt to drop anything.
    You can make the generate Scripts wizard generate an "if exists" statement by changing the "Include if NOT EXISTS" option on the advanced tab to true. However, while the script generator will find all of the foreign keys that show that
    table as the parent_id, it will not show the FK constraints on tables which are not being dropped and created.  Nor can you find them by querying the sys.foreign_keys view using the standard type of Foreign Key "If Exists" statement because
    it would do a query like
    SELECT *
    FROM sys.foreign_keys
    WHERE object_id = OBJECT_ID(N'[dbo].[FK_prc_ContractSubLines_prc_PRSubLines]')
    AND parent_object_id = OBJECT_ID(N'[dbo].[prc_ContractSubLines]')
    And the script generator does not care even if you show an option like "Generate Scripts For Dependent Objects", it will not generate a drop script for the foreign constraints on other tables that reference your table.  I have not even found
    a way to get back the results of a query on the sys.foreign_keys view that will show those keys that reference your table. The only thing I been able to do is to open the table in design and check out the list of relationships in your table and see open each
    relationship and see which table is the "foreign key table" rather than the primary key table. This will make writing drop and create scripts very very long and tedious. As you would have to  create addional Alter tables scripts to do a drop
    and create foreign keys on each table referencing yours and manually place them into your scripts at correct locations. This is almost as bad as the Oracle SQL Developer's generate script results which (at least in 2010) so screws up the order of the generated
    script that it is trying to create foreign keys on tables it has not created yet.
    So Patrick I see that you thought about the foreign keys on other tables.  I wish I had read your post before spending the morning troubleshooting this issue based on this morning's script that ran and crashed embarrassingly.
    I would like to know if someone has a query to reveal all of the foreign keys that reference your table from another table using the sys views.  As it is I have to open each table in design to get a list of FKs that reference it.

  • XML Publisher Template Builder for Adobe Acrobat

    Need a XML Publisher Template Builder for adobe acrobat as is available for word.

    I did so.. however, publisher is not able to substitute xsl syntax by the actual value..
    eg.
    i had a <?X_PO_NUM?> in word (either using text field or manually writing this..) and i converted the word doc into pdf using third party s/w..
    when i uploaded this template pdf with sample data file using xmlp admin repsonsibility, and tried to preview the output,
    substitution is not happening..
    the requirement here is, to have some input fields in final PDF output for which report-users should be able to type values in.
    for which I assume initial template has to be in PDF itself..
    any ideas or pointers will be much appreciated..

    hi,,
    i  want to  generate crystal report  through sap application...
    How  is it possible ....?
    could you help me  in details?
    Plz  help me???????????

    STEP 1: Like any other add-on project, refer SBO UI and DI COM to your project. Initialize SBO APPLICATION object and SBO COMPANY object and listen to events. (This is standard add-on project steps)
    STEP 2: Add a Dataset to the project. This is used as a data source to your Crystal Reports. (For more information on this search for Push Technique Crystal Reports)
    STEP 3: Add a Windows Form to your Project.
    STEP 4: Add a Crystal Report Control to it.
    STEP 5: Design report based on dataset added above.
    STEP 6: Launch this Form with required parameters and selection criteria when any even happens.
    Remember there is lot stuff available on net if you search with PUSH TECHNIQUE CRYSTAL REPORT. SAP SDN has lot answers for adding Crystal Reports integration to SAP Business One Add-On.

  • How to get feedback messages for schema creation script created by Tasks- Generate Script

    I am using sql server 2008 R2. I created a script file by using Tasks->Generate Scripts. I
    selected option so only create statements are generated for all objects – tables, indexes, views, functions etc in the database.
    Then when I used this generated  script to create objects in another database in SSMS, it created the objects but did
     not give me any feed back, i.e., table created, view created etc. I thought my script did not run , but when I refreshed left panel
    of SSMS and I can see all created objects.. So question is what  is needed to get
    feedback when  sql statements are run..

    You need to add the PRINT statements yourself for that. The wizard will not do it for you.

  • Question about DBCA generate script o create RAC database 2 node cluster

    Question about creating two node RAC database 11g after installing and configuration 11g clusterware. I've used DBCA to generate script to create a rac database. I've set
    environment variable ORACLE_SID=RAC and the creating script creates instance of RAC1 and RAC2. My understanding is that each node will represent a node, however there should only be one database with a name of 'RAC'. Please advise

    You are getting your terminology mixed up.
    You only have one database. Take a look, there are one set of datafiles on shared storage.
    You have 2 instances which are accessing one database.
    Database name is RAC. Instance names are RAC1, RAC2, etc, etc.
    Also, if you look at the listener configuration and if your tnsnames is setup properly then connecting to RAC will connect you to either one of the instances wheras connecting to RAC1 will connect you to that instance.

  • Generate Scripts in SQL Server 2008 R2 producing Error "Item has already been added.:

    I am trying to run a Generate Scripts Task on a Database to generate a script for every object in the DB including tables, SPs, UDFs, FKs, PKs, with the settings for Schema Only, Script Drop and Create, Script "if not Exists", use database,
    and Object level permissions.
    I have used generate scripts before to generate this database about 5 months ago and every thing worked fine.
    Today I first tried to generate it out on a server where I only have "db_Owner" for several databases.  This failed with the error.
    Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.FailedOperationException: Discover dependencies failed. ---> System.ArgumentException: Item has already been added. Key in dictionary: 'Server[@Name='DLINHD007557\SQL_2008R2_64']/Database[@Name='VFS_ProcurementTracking']/UnresolvedEntity[@Name='prc_ContractFatInfo']' Key being added: 'Server[@Name='DLINHD007557\SQL_2008R2_64']/Database[@Name='VFS_ProcurementTracking']/UnresolvedEntity[@Name='prc_ContractFatInfo']' at System.Collections.SortedList.Add(Object key, Object value) at Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.DependencyTree..ctor(Urn[] urns, DependencyChainCollection dependencies, Boolean fParents, Server server)
    So I tried tto do this on a local version of the database where I have sa rights.  Same error.
    Can someone advise me on what is going on here and how do I fix it?
