Temporarily blocking software loading

Hi you all,
Is there a way to block access to some programs during certain time?
I love the Firefox's addon LeechBlock and I would like to find a similar software to block programs.
Could someone help me?

You'd still only need to undo one of those to get access to Thunderbird again, but forcing yourself to manually do it every day may help make it more tedious to indulge the old habit than to ignore it. More brutal (and probably less effective) alternatives would be to set up new mail notifications that annoy the hell out of you if Thunderbird is left open (I believe you can set it to play a certain sound file), or a cronjob using SMTP to flood your inbox with reminders to get back to work.

I learned this the hard way, and that's what tempered my first response. M276nw software loades up to 65%, then gives an error message with return code 1601.
Tried the solution posted for stopping at 80% withour success.

Sorry to hear that didn't resolve the issue.
How is the printer connected? (USB/Ethernet/Wireless)
If using a USB cable, disconnect it first.
Run the scrubber from the CD. Open the files on the CD/utility folder/run the scrubber.
First we need to make sure the Administrative rights are set properly.
Touch the Windows key + R key.
Type in CMD, then right click on CMD from the list and select run as administrator - opens the command prompt window.
Type: net user administrator /active:yes
Log off and into the Admin account.
Then reinstall the printer.
If you are still having issues, then create a new account with Admin Rights.
How to create a new user account in Windows 7. Temporarily turn off all the firewalls and Antivirus software.
Install the printer software.
Please let me know the results.

HP LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP M276nw software loades up to 80% then stops.

M276nw software loades up to 80%. then gives an error message with no code and no event message is windows event viewer.
Tried loading from CD, USB, and download from HP. Still getting error message at 80%. I made sure that McAfee was turned off. Tried loading minimal drivers/apps. Same thing.
I've tried the loading options that HP Support suggests that I can find. I've wasted enough time on this problem it shouldn't be this diffecult

Weblogic cluster software load balancer

Hi,
We are currently using Weblogic domain as a Proxy Plug-In for High Availability test as it’s explained in this blog http://andrejusb.blogspot.com/2009/04/weblogic-load-balancing-for-oracle-adf.html.
Its working fine for POC project but what software load balancer would you recommended for production environment on Linux? (Assume that we don’t have a hardware load balancer).
- Oracle active-passive OHS web-tier clustering.
-Using Linux open source Linux Software(e.g. HAProxy and KeepAlived as explained here http://biemond.blogspot.com/2010/04/high-availability-load-balancer- for.html
-Using any other software load Balancer
I would appreciate if anybody can provide some recommendations/links etc.

Yes you should never use HttpClusterServlet, not even for fun ;-)
We use mod_wl (Web Server Plug-In) for Apache for several customers and that works fine.

If we want to go with hardware level do we have to do something with Apache loadbalancer or skip that step?Which configuration you are planning to go with? You still need to do configuration changes at the application tier nodes.
If we choose Hardware level load balancer its configuration has few steps compare to software level ?Going with hardware load balancer still requires many changes and configurations at the application tier nodes as well as the hardware load balancer and I would say the steps are not less comparing to software load balancer.
what is the major difference between hardware level and software levelI believe this is not answered in any of the docs/links referenced above, so please log a SR to get the correct/proper answer.

HTTP logs not created when using software load balancer

This is my setup:
1. I have a server running a software load balancer - call it A
2. There are two servers clustered under A - call it X and Y
3. I am able to access the application deployed on X and Y through A.
Fail-over also works. Shutting down X when the application is up and running routes the requests to Y and vice-versa. All is well until this point.
Problem is:
Let us take server X.
$ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/logs does not have an access log in it. (It
however has an error log.)
Access logs are not created when accessing the servers in the cluster (X and Y) through the load balancer URL.
However, when accessing the individual servers in the cluster (with their URLs), access logs are created.
Specifics on the setup:
1. A, X, Y - all three are OAS 10.1.3.2
2. All three are deployed on individual server machines
3. All three servers have one OC4J instance each running in them
4. The software load balancer used is from WebLogic 8.1sp5 - basically to create a *.war file that has the details of X and Y (servers in the cluster)
5. This *.war file is deployed on A
6. Server A, the one that has the software load balancer, DOES NOT have AS control. One of the other servers in the cluster does.
Has anybody encountered this problem before? Or is there anything wrong
with the setup? What is the resolution for the same?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you, Jacco. You are right in saying that the software load balancer does not route the request to Apache and hence the logs are not created.
While the logs are not critical to the component we are working on, was just wondering why they were not being created.
As regards your comment on FastCGI, there is a FastCGI directory created under $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/logs - but there is nothing in it. Neither do the error logs have any information pertaining to FastCGI.
Anyway, I am not going to worry about this issue anymore - may be sometime in the future will try to use a different software load balancer and see if it makes any difference.

Set up your computer/router to use Open DNS. Accounts are free for the basic account. From within OpenDNS you can blacklist whole domains etc. www.opendns.com.

Ora-26040 : data block was loaded using the NOLOGGING option

i have restored full back up database using RMAN sucessfully from one server to another .Restoration process do not contain any error.
New Database contain job when it executes then it leaves mesaage in alert log.
"ORA-01578 oracle data block corrupted file # 6 block # 6888812"
"ORA-26040 data block was loaded using nologging option".
please let me know how it could recovered and prevented.

In short, your full backup has happened when a NOLOGGING transaction was on flight. Hence the recovery process should get the transaction's data out of archive logs. BUT the data doesn't exist in archivelog beause the transaction was NOLOGGING. For comprehensive detail read the documents above.
To prevent this situation, backup the database when no NOLOGGING transaction is running.

we have weblogic and soa (11.1.1.5) installed on one machine and we will create two managed server which will be in a cluster.

Validation required on software load balancing

We have created software load balancing between two web servers with 80/20 load shared in SP 2013 farm configuration. How could we validate this is working as disired while user access the site. Is there any there any monitoring tool auilable to monitor
this.

Software loadbalancing, you mean NLB which come by dafault on windiows server?
if ther is any other third party software then they would have the option to show the load. (if possible please name the software which is being used)
If not i would rely on Perfmon (performance monitoring)and place some pointers on the URl and get the stats.

At the time I filed (using a freshly downloaded program from the internet, since my CD made current with Block updates produced error messages), I had updated until I got the message that the next update wasn't until April. When I closed the program and returned to it after getting the e-mail that my returns were accepted, I got that string ID insertion error message again and could not access my return. It was only after much trial-and-error searching that I found the information about the special update for Macs. I went did another fresh download of the program, made sure to update from the link listed in my original post, and the program worked like a charm. I have had no trouble with it since. I've recreated my return with program and saved, done backup, and retrieved with no problems. Not one Block customer service rep told me about the special update.
