Text input ghost image

I created several text input fields in a presentation.
A ghost image of the shortcut character displays when a user
highlights the text field.
Any insight??

I'm just taking a shot at this because there's not much to go
on.
I am aware of a similar complaint regarding invisible buttons
with a shortcut key assigned to them. When an invisible button is
triggered via a keyboard shortcut, that invisible button ends up
getting a yellow rectangle on it -- something to do with
Captivate's "focus manager," or some such.
Could it be that you have a single slide with multiple text
input fields on that slide?
If so, I can imagine a variety of problems (including the
yellow box or "ghost characters") being exhibited.
The most effective way to build interactions in Captivate is
to use only one interaction per slide. If you have one screenshot
on which you need to simulate the entry of text in multiple fields,
you'll be better off using a separate slide for each field:
1) On slide "a", have the student enter the text in field 1.
2) On slide "b", display the correct answer in field 1, and
have them enter text in field 2.
3) On slide "c", display the correct answers in fields 1 and
2, and have them enter text in field 3.
Repeat this "build up" of entries until they've made all the
necessary entries.
I suspect if you build your interaction in this manner, the
"ghost" issue you're seeing won't show up at all. If this doesn't
work for you, maybe you can describe your situation better or
provide an online sample we can look at.

Question about layering text over an image

Hi -- I am trying to place a layer of text over a ghosted image that I've imported into ID from Photoshop. By "ghosted" I mean that the image has a layer of white fill over it that has been set at 50% opacity. ID won't let text be layered on top of the imported image, no matter how many different ways I've tried to accomplish this. It will allow another image to be layered on top, but not text. If I place a text frame over the ghosted image and type even one letter, the red text overset warning icon appears.
I tried applying the text in Photoshop and that works just fine until the file gets imported into ID, at which point the text looks terrible, having become somehow degraded in transit. I am fairly new to ID and PS, and would appreciate any helpful input.

Sounds like text wrap is applied to either the image or the frame above it, or both. Eihter turn it off if you don't need it for other reasons, or for the frame you want to use on top of it open the Text Frame Options and check the Ignore Text Wrap box in the lower left corner.

Text input boxes same colour as background - so "invisible", and button text or buttons often missingt

I have turned off all addons/extensions/plugins - still the same problem:
1: Text input boxes appear to be the same colour as the background - and hence "invisible"
2: Clickable buttons on websites are often invisible, or if they display have no text; e.g. button to right of google search ("go" button?) is seen as a plain box with no text - although button is clickable.
3: Google webpage usually has an image - this is missing, and merely has "UK" to the top left of the input box.
4: On this page for example I can see directly above this text box two vertical black lines - it appears to be a button with a pop-up "insert a link" - it can obviously be clicked when I mouse over it.

Search text in FXZ images

Hi all
I want to develop a piece of code which will search the text in FXZ images in javafx which is similar to the following program

use internal API from fxdloader to open content files. It is possible - however completely unsupported and with high probability also not backward compatible.i am using fxdloader

Ghost Images - Pages to PDF, Kinko's Printing

I could really use some help here. I am trying to print about 8 pages of images & text in the Extreme Template. When I export the file to PDF everything looks fine, I then took it to kinko's to be printed on card stock and binded and when they did that the entire document had ghost images all over the place and really ruins the document. If anyone can help, that would be great!

this is a strange problem I have never heard before. Are you able to print the document by yourself or by a friend to verify the "printing only" problem? I am right to think you have looked at the document a couple of times yet, since you now the problem, and there is nothing you can see by turning the visibility of the layout guides and the invisibles on (with the menu "View/Show Layout" and "View/Show Invisibles") and zooming in and out? Select all with a frame select by dragging the mouse pointer from the print margin over the page and see if there are some unexpected objects, even if this is very improbable.
If you are willing and able to do, make a scan or a digital photo of a few pages of your printed document and send it to my e-mail address you can find by clicking onto my username above my avatar image. This was the most efficient way in the past to find reasons of such strange problems.
But I am not sure that this is really a fault of your document, because the PDF export has to be corrupted to produce such errors. Have you ever had similar problems before with printing any of your PDFs from Pages? You should try to view the PDF with as many viewers as you can. If there is no problem (and the same with prints of other printers) I would mention that it is a problem with the printer driver or other software at Kinko.
I am able to print with a good color laser here and if you have no possibilities to check that by yourself I will print a page here. But for that you have to send me the PDF. So try to verify this first by yourself.
Please inform us about the progression.

Yosemite Mail 8.0 and Safari 8.0 text input slow

Since I upgraded to Yosemite I have noticed that text input in Mail 8.0 and Safari 8.0 is extremely slow. Mail, however, is somewhat worse than Safari. As I type this there is a lag before what I type appears on the screen but in Mail it can be as much as three or four seconds - so if I make a typing error, trying to backspace and correct it can be a bit of a nightmare.
As far as I can tell, it does not occur in any other application. I have read reports of Yosemite being slow but nothing seems to mention this particular problem. That said, I have tried some of the fixes such as turning off transparency but nothing has worked.
Anybody any clues?

I'm looking at Activity Monitor and at the moment, under Memory > Memory, I see:
(plugin icon) Mail Web Content 2.0
Safari 1.22 GB
No other applications have anything near this. Even Photoshop with several images open only has 300 MB.
Is this normal?

Persistent Ghost Images

I wonder if anyone else has had this problem:
You know the yellow text bubbles that appear when you hold your mouse over a link in Safari or Mail, etc.? Well, I've got these two bubbles, one from Adobe Acrobat and one from Safari, that are stuck on my screen. One is at full opacity while the second is very transparent. I've tried using expose to flash it off but it only disappears and reappears w/ the other windows. I've tried fast user switching to hopefully knock it off the screen but it rotates right along with the rest of the desktop. They are not clickable and do not move in relation to the workspace unless expose, but not spaces, is activated. Nothing short of logging out completely will remove these ghost images. What the **** is going on here? Help Steve!

The issue is resolved!
I updated my iPhone, iPad and iPodtouch to iOs 8.1 but didnt update to icloud drive for Windows 4 simultaneously. After updating to iOs 8.1, I tried to add some files to icloud using icloud.com website. But as I had not updated my windows PC to icloud 4, the files could not be saved on the cloud in the new format.
The background story is that Apple has changed the "file type" completely with the introduction of iCloud Drive. The iWork documents used to be in absolutely different format before the introduction of iCloud drive. The iCloud drive doesnot recognise those old files.
So those who have updated to iCloud drive on one device and started working using icloud on the non-updated device, have created confusion for the icloud drive folder and the apps.
I scanned through my iCloud drive Keynote folder and found those corrupt files. I sent those files to myself in .pptx format and deleted them from the iCloud drive folder. Before this, I had updated my PC to icloud drive fro windows 4. Now there was one file on which I had worked from my iPad before updating my PC which was not getting deleted. I tried hundreds of ways to get rid of it. I moved it from one folder to another, changed its name, etc etc.... If I tried to open it, it was getting downloaded to my PC as a folder... and when I was trying to delete it, it was giving an error message... However, after Ctr Alt Del for some 100 times, it got deleted from iCloud drive folder on iCloud.com. Instantly the files started getting downloaded on all my ios devices. Instant changes visible. Instant changes visible.
Please search for all those files on which you worked from the day of your updating to iOs 8 and release of Yosemite and remove those from the iCloud drive. The way I got rid of thsi issue, may all get rid of it.

Text input options missing

Hi,
After running some updates yesterday, the "show text input options" is no longer available in the options. Neither can I select suretype when writing a message. Would appreciate some help.

Had to re-boot after removing an application and everything back to normal! What bugs me is that my service provider tech never brought up a re-boot but rather wanted me to delete all my data and start all over!

Conditional for a text input box NOT being null? Sorry for asking so many questions!

Okay, here's the situation. I'm creating a simulation of a form on which there are several text input boxes, 7 of which are mandatory fields. I know I can use a conditional to check whether the box has nothing in it by creating a null variable with no value and doing "if [box variable] is equal to [null variable] then", but the problem is that the validation captions I need to show need to be shown in order, that is to say that the caption for entering a value for the first box will always be shown if that box is null regardless of the contents of other boxes, the second will be shown if that one is null and the first one isn't etc.
When I was investigating this I noticed a post by Lilybiri saying that comparison with a null variable doesn't work for "not equal to" so I'm having a hard time figuring out how to show the captions based on priority. For example, to show the second caption I need to not only check whether the second box variable is null, but also whether the first one isn't.
It gets pretty crazy further along the line where I get to the 7th mandatory field and need to check whether the first, second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth boxes are NOT null and whether the 7th one IS. Help!
I did come up with one potential solution to this prior to posting: if I set a different advanced action for each input box losing focus which checks whether the variable is null and if so sets a "flag" variable to 0, and in the else set it to 1, I imagine I can then replace the "not equal to" with a check to that flag variable being equal to 1 (which means there is text in the box). I think this will work but I thought I'd check to see if there's an easier way first.

No it DOESN'T require everything to be on one slide. It just has to LOOK as if that's what it is.
I would suggest that it doesn't really matter how many Captivate slides are involved in the final solution, as long as it works the same way (or as close as possible) to the original software that you are simulating. Your users don't frankly know or care how you achieved the simulation. I guarantee they won't be thinking of you or Captivate.
In my experience, you can make creating elearning a lot more difficult than it needs to be in Captivate by trying to rebuild the app, rather than just simulating how it works. For example, thinking that if everything happened on one web page or screen in the app then it must also happen on a single slide in Captivate. The fact of the matter is IT DOESN'T need to work this way. And in some cases it might even be impossible to reproduce in Captivate this way.
So the quickest path to a solution is often to use multiple slides, which has the advantage of allowing you to "fix" certain things on screen (e.g. the contents of fields already visited) by using READ ONLY variable output in transparent captions, focusing only on one element of the interface that the user can interact with on that slide. It doesn't necessarily prevent you from moving back and forth between elements, just as you can in the original app. But it is far easier to create and maintain.
I'm not saying you wouldn't be able to pull this off on one slide in Captivate, but it is going to require a LOT of variables and Advanced Actions to build and debug. So the term Rapid Elearning becomes something of a misnomer if it takes you a long time to complete one slide.

Text input box for displaying notes

How can I use a text input box so delegates can write notes in which then appear on other pages as they work through the course.

It seems you would be able to do this with user variables, in which you store the content retrieved from the Text Entry Box. Later on (other slides) you can use this content by adding it to a Text Caption. Beware: I'm not sure about the amount of characters that can be stored.

Text Input Prompt

Does anyone tried to build some text input field that can do prompt? Something like auto-complete in source code edit. It would mean that:
- we have to make the rest of the prompt text gray
- the cursor blinks right after the user input characters
- if user click space bar, the first word in prompt become solid and cursor moves to next word.
Is this something that's possible to do for iPhone?

- How do I programmatically place the cursor in the middle of a word
- How do I font/color part of word in text input control
- How do I select the text up to or from where the cursor is...
You can't. You can't. You can't. At least not with a UITextField.
I've done more or less of what you are looking for in PocketMoney for auto completing transaction. You need to do a lot of rolling of your own code to pretend you have UITextField.
What I ended up doing is drawing the uncompleted text at the end of the current text input of the UITextField that I subclassed.
