TextField Rendering is not working.

Hi friends,
I was tring to write a textfield renderer. Even though the text field can be seen in the jtable, its containing some unwanted texts which i have pasted below. I could not understand why so. What i am doing wrong.
Here is the renderer class :
class TextFieldUIRenderer extends JTextField implements TableCellRenderer {
public TextFieldUIRenderer() {
super();
setOpaque(true);
public Component getTableCellRendererComponent(JTable table, Object value, boolean isSelected,
boolean hasFocus, int row, int column) {
//TODO If the component is having the focus
if (hasFocus) {
table.editCellAt(row, column);
//TODO If the component is selected
if (isSelected) {
} else {
//Otherwise
this.setText(value.toString());
return this;
}Here is TextFieldCellEditor class :
public class TextFieldCellEditor extends DefaultCellEditor {
public TextFieldCellEditor() {
super(new JTextField());
}then i am setting
textField.setCellRenderer(new TextFieldUIRenderer ());
textField.setCellEditor(new TextFieldCellEditor ());Now when i am running the program the text box is shown the following text inside :
javax.swing.JTextField[,0,0,0x0,invalid,layout=javax.swing.plaf.basic.BasicTextUI$UpdateHandler,alignmentX=null,
alignmentY=null,border=javax.swing.plaf.BorderUIResource$CompoundBorderUIResource@ae3364,flags=296,maximumSize=,
minimumSize=,preferredSize=,caretColor=javax.swing.plaf.ColorUIResource
[r=0,g=0,b=0],disabledTextColor=javax.swing.plaf.ColorUIResource[r=153,g=153,b=153],editable=true,
margin=javax.swing.plaf.InsetsUIResource
[top=0,left=0,bottom=0,right=0],selectedTextColor=javax.swing.plaf.ColorUIResource
[r=0,g=0,b=0],selectionColor=javax.swing.plaf.ColorUIResource[r=204,g=204,b=255],columns=10,
columnWidth=0,command=,horizontalAlignment=LEADING]
Please help, thanks.

You are misunderstanding roles of editor, renderer
and their relationship. Don't call editor function in
the renderer. Default editor is text field, so you
don' t need reimplement it.Hi Hiwa,
Thanks for you reply. Could you please elaborate it little more. I am not understanding where i am using the editor from inside the renderer.

• [SOLVED] Direct Rendering is not working with Catalyst 8.6-1.

I own an ATI Radeon X1300, and everything was working flawlessly with Catalyst 8.5-1, and when I updated the drivers, DRI stopped working. It has happened with me in the past, and the only solution I had found then was to downgrade the drivers. I appreciate your help.

You have to quit X, then rmmod and modprobe the kernel module - you're still using the old one. (a reboot would technically fix it too)
# rmmod fglrx
# modprobe fglrx
# dmesg | tail
The dmesg output should say you've successfully loaded the 8.501 driver.

• Custom rendering extensions not working in SSRS Report Designer (rsreportdesigner.config)

My custom rendering extension is working in Report Builder (in RSReportServer.config), but not in Report Designer (in RSReportDesigner.config): instead of adding a "TXT" export option, it's just adding a duplicate "CSV" option.
SUMMARY:
Is there a way to get these features working, with Report Designer?
DETAILS:
We are running SSRS (Reporting Services) under SQL Server 2008 R2.
Here's my rendering section:
<Render>
<Extension Name="XML" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.DataRenderer.XmlDataReport,Microsoft.ReportingServices.DataRendering" />
<Extension Name="CSV" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.DataRenderer.CsvReport,Microsoft.ReportingServices.DataRendering" />

<Extension Name="TXT" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.DataRenderer.CsvReport,Microsoft.ReportingServices.DataRendering">
<OverrideNames>

</OverrideNames>
<Configuration>
<DeviceInfo>
<FileExtension>txt</FileExtension>
<FieldDelimiter>,</FieldDelimiter>
<Encoding>ASCII</Encoding>
<NoHeader>true</NoHeader>
</DeviceInfo>
</Configuration>
</Extension>
<Extension Name="IMAGE" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.ImageRenderer.ImageRenderer,Microsoft.ReportingServices.ImageRendering" />
<Extension Name="PDF" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.ImageRenderer.PDFRenderer,Microsoft.ReportingServices.ImageRendering" />
<Extension Name="HTML4.0" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.HtmlRenderer.Html40RenderingExtension,Microsoft.ReportingServices.HtmlRendering" Visible="false" />
<Extension Name="MHTML" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.HtmlRenderer.MHtmlRenderingExtension,Microsoft.ReportingServices.HtmlRendering" />
<Extension Name="RPL" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.RPLRendering.RPLRenderer,Microsoft.ReportingServices.RPLRendering" Visible="false" />
<Extension Name="EXCEL" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.ExcelRenderer.ExcelRenderer,Microsoft.ReportingServices.ExcelRendering" />
<Extension Name="WORD" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.WordRenderer.WordDocumentRenderer,Microsoft.ReportingServices.WordRendering" />
</Render>
When I add the above "TXT" section to RSReportServer.config, then Report Builder (and production) both show an export option "TXT(ASCII,NoColHds)".
But when I add this "TXT" section to RSReportDesigner.config, and then (in Report Designer / BIDS) attempt to export from a "Preview" of the report, the export drop-down does not show a "CSV" option followed by a "TXT"
option, but instead shows the "CSV" option twice.
This simply limits testing of the export option, to Report Builder... or requires any reports be published from Report Designer before they can be tested with
this export option.
(FYI, why this export option: compliance in our industry requires sending data to government agencies, in text files, with fixed-length columns, and ASCII encoding. Also, we're attempting to give the production of these files to the *users* managing
communication with those agencies... so we're putting them into SSRS.
I worked around the fixed length columns (and no delimiters -- no commas), by writing a version of the report where all string columns are padded, and all columns are concatenated, to form ONE LONG COLUMN... but Reporting Services' CSV export format produces
a Unicode file (UTF-8, which the agency rejected, because it had a leading "", or "EF BB BF" in hex), whereas the agency requires an ASCII file.)

Hi Doug_atMidway,
According to your description, you want to enable your custom render extension. Right?
In Reporting Services, if you want to deploy the custom extension, you just need to add the extension into rsreportserver.config file. The
RSReportDesigner.config file stores settings about the rendering extensions available to Report Designer. Since you still use the csv rendering extension in your assembly, we don't need to do any modification in rsreportdesigner.config file. Pleaes
refer to the links below:
Thanks for attempting to help, Simon.
As my question states, I've *already done* both the above: changed (1) rsreportserver.config and (2) rsreportdesigner.config. I added the same code, shown above, to both files. I did that so I could see the new "txt" extension
both (1) when exporting in production and Report Builder, and (2) when exporting in Report Designer's "preview".
The change in (2) is not working: I do not see the "TXT" extension in Report Designer, when I try to export from a preview. Instead, Report Designer shows the CSV extension repeated.
Thanks for the docs. I consulted them (well, I consulted the EQUIVALENT pages, for SQL Server 2008 R2), when creating my block of code above.
Do you see anything to correct, in my code?
Are the features I'm using actually working, with rsreportdesigner.config?
Thanks again,

• Android: Textfield-Cursor movement not working in Portrait

Hi,
I just deployed a new build of my Android apps with Air 16.0.0.272 and I noticed that while Portrait mode, I am unable to move the cursor in an Input Textfield with text by tapping at the location. Instead the cursor will pop up before the first letter, making it impossible to delete the text that is already there. If I rotate to Landscape, the Textfield will go fullscreen and I can move the cursor freely. Can anyone confirm this?

I have seen this issue as well when first focusing the TextField, the cursor moves to the start of the text, even though the user tapped on a word later in the sentence.
Even worse, I've noticed that tapping on the TextField sometimes does not bring up the Softkeyboard. I have to focus in and out of the TextField and eventually the softkeyboard appears.

• Table Cell Renderer Customization not working

I have a customized cell renderer that works wonderfully, it paints the background and text like it should, but I am also trying to paint a stripe like a 1 sided border across the top of the table cell, but (and this is the wierd part) only the first table column header is painting with this "stripe" on the top of it, every other column header and every other table cell do not paint with stripe on it. I print out the coords as I pass them to the graphics object to paint the line and the coords are correct, but the lines only show up in the first cell.
I have tried to put this code into the Renderer, and today I tried to put it into the UIComponent with the same result.
Relevant code:
// inner class for the renderer
private class LabelUI extends MetalLabelUI
public void paint(Graphics g,JComponent c)
// PAINT THE LABEL(RENDERER) USING THE NORMAL ROUTINE
super.paint(g,c);
// PICK A COLOR TO TEST THE CODE
g.setColor(Color.green);
// DUMP THE COORDS OUT TO CONSOLE
System.out.println("Drawing a line from :"+
c.getX()+","+(c.getY()+1)+","+
(c.getX()+c.getWidth())+","+(c.getY()+1));
// DRAW THE LINES
g.drawLine(c.getX(),c.getY()+1,c.getX()+c.getWidth(),c.getY()+1);
g.drawLine(c.getX(),c.getY()+2,c.getX()+c.getWidth(),c.getY()+2);
}

camickr- thanks for the input. I had tried a matte border yesterday in the renderer and the L&F object and couldn't get it to paint, but maybe I have something set elsewhere that is preventing it from painting, so I'll give that one another try. If I come up with an answer I'll be sure to post! -dohare
If I understand the question then take a look at the
HighlightCellRenderer class of this little
application. It uses vertical lines on certain
columns:

• TextField Stylesheet is not working?

Hi,
I guess this one i easy but i can't figure out what's the problem:
I have a TextField which styleSheet i want to change at runtime.
For testing I created a new .FLA put a Textfield on stage, set it to dynamic, named it mytxt and added some AS3:
import flash.text.StyleSheet;
import flash.text.TextField;
var _style = new StyleSheet();
_style.parseCSS('p{color:#ff0000;}');
mytxt.styleSheet = _style;
Well - nothing changed I still have a default black text when I publish the swf.
What am I missing?
My goals:
- Set a TextField in Flash IDE
- set the font, weight, color, size etc.
- apply a styleSheet containing colors for links
Thanks, Booya

Ok, everything works now. Thanks for clearing things up.
It confused me that I couldnt change the style of font - well i still cant.
<TEXTFORMAT LEADING="4">
TEXT
</TEXTFORMAT>
import flash.text.StyleSheet;
import flash.text.TextField;
var _style = new StyleSheet();
_style.parseCSS('font{color:#00ff00}');
mytxt.styleSheet = _style;
The text will still be "black"
But it is not that bad because i will add some additional HTML within the existing font tags:
<TEXTFORMAT LEADING="4">
TEXT
</TEXTFORMAT>
so changing the stylesheet according to my HTML and everything works like expected:
import flash.text.StyleSheet;
import flash.text.TextField;
var _style = new StyleSheet();
_style.parseCSS('.red{color:#00ff00}');
mytxt.styleSheet = _style;

• TextField setText(null) not working

Very simply put, I want a text field that when you type in it, it stores the character in a global String variable but doesn't actually display it. I know there are several ways of doing this, including a PasswordField, but this is purely for understanding purposes only.
String str = "";
private void txtLineKeyPressed(java.awt.event.KeyEvent evt) {
char key = evt.getKeyChar();
str = str + key;
txtLine.setText(null);
}When typing "asdf" produces (caret is represented by |):
a|
s|
d|
f|I want to understand why txtLine.setText(null) clears the field BEFORE the letter is added to the field and possibly find out if there's a way (using TextField only) to accomplish this. I had a problem earlier with the enter key producing a line break at the end of all my lines and realized I was using a TextArea that caused the problem. Am I doing something similarly wrong?
--dorky

I want to understand why txtLine.setText(null) clears the field BEFORE the letter is added to the field Read up on how KeyListeners work. Three events are fired. The Document is updated on keyTyped(), which is generated after the keyPressed() event.
If you need further help then you need to create a [Short, Self Contained, Compilable and Executable, Example Program (SSCCE)|http://homepage1.nifty.com/algafield/sscce.html], that demonstrates the incorrect behaviour.
Don't forget to use the Code Formatting Tags so the posted code retains its original formatting. That is done by selecting the code and then clicking on the "Code" button above the question input area.
Also, the better way to do this is to use a DocumentFilter, not a KeyListener then you wouldn't have this problem. Read the Swing tutorial which has a working example of how to use a filter.

• Rendering diagnostics not working in AIR 2.6

I'm trying to move my pfi application over to AIR 2.6 and am experiencing a huge drop in frame rate. I worked quite hard to make sure everything was cached with the GPU when working with pfi and found the rendering diagnostics to be invaluable in helping me nail down areas where the graphics weren't being cached properly. I thought I would check to make sure that the graphics are still being cached in AIR 2.6 but when I built the application with the flag enabled, the rendering diagnostics didn't turn on. The flag is CTTextureUploadTracking and is part of the application xml:
<InfoAdditions>

<key>UIStatusBarStyle</key>
<string>UIStatusBarStyleBlackOpaque</string>
<key>UIRequiresPersistentWiFi</key>
<string>NO</string>
<key>UIDeviceFamily</key>
<array>
<string>1</string>
<string>2</string>
</array>
<key>CTTextureUploadTracking</key>
<true/>

</InfoAdditions>
I also tried adding the -renderingdiagnostics flag to the command line as indicated in http://download.macromedia.com/pub/labs/packagerforiphone/packagerforiphone_devguide.pdf but I get an error telling me that "The -renderingdiagnostics flag is no longer supported". Does anyone know how to enable this now?

If Adobe ever wants developers to properly utilize the GPU then a tool like rendering diagnostics needs to exist. Flash has a terrible stigma of being a processor hog, slow and glitchy. Flash doesn't need to be like this but lots and lots of sloppy coding have helped this become what people perceive as reality. Even if 2.7 is leaps and bounds above 2.6, if no one can properly figure out how to keep data cached with the gpu then Flash apps will still be slow, battery hogs. A visual troubleshooting tool for gpu caching problems is really essential. If it hadn't been for that I would never have been able to figure out some of the bizarre quirks in caching. For instance, if you have an opaque background in a Sprite and you add something to it as a child, the gpu will never be able to cache either of them correctly. Why? I don't know, it doesn't make sense but the rendering diagnostics helped me find the problem quickly. Please add this tool or something like it back in. You're doing your devs a serious disservice and, consequently, helping push the idea that Flash is a technology that is no longer relevant.

• TLF TextField - formatting issue - not working when TLF TF on stage?

Hi,
I have encountered formatting problems when using the TLF TextField placed on stage; I cant seem to format the textfield properly by ActionScript.
When TLF TextField is created at runtime it works for strange reasons...
import fl.text.TLFTextField;
import flashx.textLayout.formats.TextLayoutFormat;
import flashx.textLayout.elements.TextFlow;
var myTLFTextField:TLFTextField = new TLFTextField();
addChild(myTLFTextField);
myTLFTextField.x = 10;
myTLFTextField.y = 10;
myTLFTextField.width = 200
myTLFTextField.height = 100;
myTLFTextField.text = "This is my text";
var myFormat:TextLayoutFormat = new TextLayoutFormat();
myFormat.textIndent = 8;
myFormat.color = 0x336633;
myFormat.fontFamily = "Arial, Helvetica, _sans";
myFormat.fontSize = 24;
var myTextFlow:TextFlow = myTLFTextField.textFlow;
myTextFlow.hostFormat = myFormat;
myTextFlow.flowComposer.updateAllControllers();
When I set "myTLFTextField" as instance of an already existing TextField on stage no formatting is performed.
I dont want to create all TLF TextFields by ActionScript, please help!

I have yet to meet this beast called the TLFTextField, but I think in the forums I've more often seen recommendations to avoid it than to use it. Did they miss a target when they invented it?

• Rendering still not working

i am still having trouble rendering my project clips. i continue to attempt to render and the box that tells you how much rendering has progressed comes up for a couple of seconds, and then disappears with out rendering anything. i have already tried to trash the preferences and repair the permissions. the clips are from a digital camera (a canon powershot) that generally takes photos but has the option to record video. i think the file type is AVI, but i'm not sure. (under all the clips in my folders they say for example, MVI_00.74.AVI., so i'm assuming that AVI is the file type). please help!

p.s. does it have to be quicktime PRO on my computer
in order to do this? because i just checked and i
just have quicktime player.
You can check to see if you have the pro version by going to the apple Menu (up in the upper left corner) and choose System Preferences then find the QuickTime Button and choose that. You should now have the Register Tab selected. Registered To & Registration Code will be empty if you do not have QuickTime Pro, or they will have some sort of value if You DO have QuickTime Pro, Also it will say Below the Registration Code Box "QuickTime 7 Pro" if you have the Pro version.
I always thought that FCE came with QuickTime Pro, I may be mistaken about that. But anyway that's the way to check to see if you have QuickTime Pro.
Note: QuickTime and QuickTime Pro is the same App. it just unlocks some features when you register for the Pro version.
As far as your error message I'm not sure because FCE should use the same quicktime engine as QuickTime player uses so if one can play so should the other. I would say your next step may be to reinstall FCE. First Follow This Guide to uninstall FCE, then use the Installer to reinstall.
You could also try to download and run the QuickTime installer, This may clear it up.
One other thing, Can you still import and edit .mov and other sound/video files ok?
Sorry not much help here.

• Jhs11tp2 - Rendered Expression not working in GroupRegion

Hi all,
I have the folowing structure:
Group1
-- RegionContainer (tabbed)
---- Region1
---- GroupRegion1
---- GroupRegion2
When I put the rendered expression on Region1 and GroupRegion1 based on an value of an item in Group1 the "rendered expression"-attribute is generated for Region1 but not for GroupRegion1.
Can anyone tell me how to adjust the templates so the rendered expression in a groupRegion is places in the showDetailItem-tag?
Regards,
Romano

Romano,
We looked into it, and fixed it for JHeadstart 11 production.
It required some changes in the generator java classes in addition to template changes.
So, there is no easy way for you to change the templates in a generic way.
For now, your best option is to create a custom template and hardcode the expressions for this specific group.

• UITabelViewCell TextField and TextFieldShouldReturn not working

In my .h file I have:
UITableViewController <UITextFieldDelegate>
In my .c file I have:
This is under Customize the appearance of table view cell, under configure cell
UITextField *FirstField = [UITextField alloc]initWithFrame: etc.
FirstField.delegate = self;
FirstField.tag = indexPath.row;
[cell.contentView addSubview:FirstField];
FirstField release;
return cell;
Then as a separate method
-(Bool)textfieldShouldReturn:(UITextField*)textfield
textfield resignFirstResponder;
After putting a breakpoint at the textfieldShouldReturn and pressing the return key, I find
that this method never gets visited? Am I missing something?

You need to use TextFormat class to assign the alignment. "autosize" is not what you think it is, and based on your trying to set the size of the textfield, you probably don't want to use it. Try adding the following before you assign the text and comment out the autosize line...
var tfFormat:TextFormat = new TextFormat();
tfFormat.align = TextFormatAlign.RIGHT;
tf.defaultTextFormat = tfFormat;

It works fine for me (after commenting out the part about NodeIconData, whose source you didn't provide). What is the behavior you expect to see but don't? Is it that when you click on a tree node, it doesn't appear "selected?"
Why not extends DefaultTreeCellRenderer? You appear to be doing minimal configuring (sometimes changing the text and/or icon of the node).
