TFS 2013 TfsReports on SQL Server 2014 - rsAccessDenied Error even though all users are granted ALL Roles

We have granted everyone all roles on our TfsReports site. However, all users (except for 2 who are TFS Admins) still get the following errors when attempting to manage the reports:
The permissions granted to user Domain\UserName are insufficient for performing this operation. (rsAccessDenied)
These are the roles we've granted to all "Domain Users": Browser, Content Manager, My Reports, Publisher, Report Builder, Team Foundation Content Manager.
We can't seem to figure out what else might be missing.
Please help.

The issue was reported by one of the Application Support team stating that they have problems with accessing reports in Reporting Services from Team Foundation Server (TFS)
side. By default certain users are part of local domain group having LOCAL ADMINISTRATOR privileges on TFS server, which is by default no issues for those users. Somehow there was a change in the role of certain users where ADMIN access was revoked. However
the users are still part of SYSADMIN group, they were reported the error as follows:
“The
permissions granted to user ''DOMAIN\UserName'' are insufficient for performing this operation. (rsAccessDenied)”
By default the text clarifies that no permission to access the reports and further we have set of roles defined on the Reporting
Services, as follows:
http ://servername/Reports/
Root
BUILTIN\Administrators                  No
access
DOMAIN\TfsAdmins                        Content
Manager
DOMAIN\ReportAdmins
     Content Manager

  • How to install a Business Contact Manager 2013 database on SQL Server 2014

    When I use the BCM Database Tool 2013 to create a database on a server, it doesn't pick up on any of my SQL Server 2014 instances. So far I can only get it to pick up SQL Server 2008 R2 instances in order to install the BCM database.
    Someone  mentioned that it works with SQL Server 2012, so is there any way to get it work on the 2014 version? I don't want to have to install 2008 or 2012 just for the sake of BCM.

    event if 3355 means 3 things:
    The SQL Server might be offline.
    The SharePoint Foundation database access account might not have the necessary permissions to communicate with the SQL Server.
    A firewall that runs on either the local server or on SQL Server might be blocking network communications.
    Big question, how you trying to connect SQL  windows or sql authentication? is it throwing error on Config wizard or somewhere else?

  • WCF-Custom Biztalk 2013 - Access to SQL Server 2014 Database

    Hi,
    i don't see nowhere of capability from the Biztalk adapter to access differente version of Sql server.
    I want to send ou receive information with a WCF-Custom from SQL Server 2014, i'm in Biztalk 2013 (not R2 ) it's possible ?
    Do you have a link or a list of version autorized to accessed by the wcf-custom Sql binging ?
    Thanks a lot

    Hi, I can suppose that the main problem for Joao is not if it works in general or not.
    The real problem is that he is not sure if this configuration is officially supported by Microsoft.
    If you are developing an integration project for a client you need to have this guarantee. If not, you can have an unsupported scenario, and if something fails you could have a big problem with your client.
    If I were you, I would talk with the client account manager about this.
    Regards.

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Setup error: Wait on the Database Engine recovery handle failed

    Hi,
    Having this annoying error trying to install SQL Server 2014 (RTM). I saw it's been asked several times... But each post seems a different cause and no definitive answer...
    I'm not doing an upgrade, so no "sa account" issue.
    Tried different media. Even three different distributions: trial, Standard and Enterprise.
    Tried disabling Microsoft antivirus/firewall.
    Of course tried restarting, updating, installing, uninstalling, repairing, etc., etc.
    I noticed the users folders under C:\Users weren't created. (Maybe something related to permissions?) After playing around, I managed for the users to be created and the service started. Though I couldn't log in.

  • SQL SERVER 2014 Installation error

    Hi, I'm having great difficulty in installing SQL server 2014 developer edition 64- bit . When I use to run setup it says sql server boot strapper.dll is missing although it is present inside the folder and when I opened the sql setup bootstrapper.dll it
    gives the error "This file doesn't have a program associated with it for performing this action".  ? I've attached the snapshot of the error as well.
    Needs immediate help.

    Hello,
    Are you trying to install from a network share/location? Could you try to copy the media to a folder on the c:\ drive.
    If the media is an .ISO file, please unzip it using WinRAR and install from that folder on the C:\ drive.
    If the above does not help, could you try to download the media again.

  • Sql server job is succeeding even though it should fail

    Hi,
    I created a sql server job with one job step for a SSIS package using Powershell.
    When I run the job (manually), it shows "success" state, but it should fail (because of the bad configuration parameters).
    But if I go to job properties, and then edit job step properties (don't have to make any changes here, just clicking ok button is enough)
    then the job run will fail as expected.
    I am not sure why it is not failing first time?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks
    -Bhargavi

    I set "QuitWithFailure" option for the 'OnFailAction' of the job.
    $jobStep.OnFailAction = "QuitWithFailure"
    Here is the code:
           write-Host ""
            Write-Host "Create job for $tenantid"
            $jobName = "Auto-"+$tenantid
            $job = New-Object Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.SMO.Agent.Job($server.JobServer,$jobName)
             #Delete the job if it already exists
            if($Server.JobServer.Jobs.Contains($jobName))
                 write-host "Deleting job $jobName"
                $sqlCommand.CommandText = "EXEC msdb.dbo.sp_delete_job @job_name = N'$jobName',
               @delete_unused_schedule=1;"
                $result = $sqlCommand.ExecuteNonQuery()
            $job.Create()
            #Create job step
            Write-host "Creating job step for $jobName"
            $jobStep = New-Object Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Agent.JobStep($job, $jobName)
            $jobStep.Subsystem= [Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Agent.AgentSubSystem]::SSIS
            $jobStep.Command = "/ISSERVER \SSISDB\"+$ssisFolderName+"\"+$ssisProjectName+"\Test.dtsx"+" /SERVER "+$instanceName
            $jobStep.OnSuccessAction = "QuitWithSuccess"
            $jobStep.OnFailAction = "QuitWithFailure"
            $jobStep.Create()
            $job.ApplyToTargetServer($instanceName)
            $job.StartStepID =$jobStep.ID
            $job.Alter()

  • Data Streaming Destination in SQL Server 2014?

    I would like to publish a SSIS package as a SQL view. I'm working with SQL Server 2014 Developer edition, and
    SSDT-BI for Visual Studio 2013.
    The instructions for SQL Server 2012 are here:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn600376(v=sql.110).aspx
    The steps include downloading and installing the
    Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Integration Services Data Feed Publishing Components.
    I'm not able to find a similar package for SQL Server 2014.  I've tried all kinds of maneuvers (installing the SSIS 2012 and SSDT-BI for VS2012 components, attempting to upgrade SSIS 2012 packages with the Data Streaming Destination to SSIS 2014,
    etc.), but I've not found any way to be able to use a Data Streaming Destination in SSDT-BI for VS2013 targeting SSIS 2014.  Am I missing something?

    It seems not be supported in BIDS 2013.

  • Uninstallation SQL server 2014

    I installed sql server 2014, but after six months this version has expired and logically it should be a registred and not a trial version.
    I decided to uninstall and reinstall, but some services could not be installed as the engine of the database, the analysis services, reporting services etc.
    I tried to install sql server 2012 and I had the same problems.
    thank you for your understanding.

    Hi Dfi-Elec,
    Agree with Shanky.
    Please make sure that the existing SQL Server instance is removed completely on the machine before reinstalling SQL Server. You can perform the following steps to manually uninstall SQL Server 2014.
    1. Uninstall all  SQL Server 2014 components from the control panel.
    2. Backup the registry.
    3. Delete the following keys in regedit:
        --HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server
        --HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer
    4. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall and delete all the sub-keys referencing SQL Server.
    5. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services and delete all the keys referencing SQL Server.
    6. Rename all the SQL Server folders in the computer.
    7. Reboot the machine.
    8. Reinstall SQL Server.
    Thanks,
    Lydia Zhang

  • SQL Server 2014 on SBS 2008

    Hi
    Is it OK to install SQL Server 2014 on SBS 2008 which is the only domain controller on the network and will not be demoted in normal circumstances?
    Thanks
    Regards

    Hi Y a h y a,
    SQL Server Setup will not block installation on a computer that is a domain controller.
    However, for security reasons, we recommend that you do not install SQL Server 2014 on a domain controller. There are some limitations as follows:
    • You cannot run SQL Server services on a domain controller under a local service account.
    • After SQL Server is installed on a computer, you cannot change the computer from a domain member to a domain controller. You must uninstall SQL Server before you change the host computer to a domain controller.
    • After SQL Server is installed on a computer, you cannot change the computer from a domain controller to a domain member. You must uninstall SQL Server before you change the host computer to a domain member.
    • SQL Server failover cluster instances are not supported where cluster nodes are domain controllers.
    • SQL Server Setup cannot create security groups or provision SQL Server service accounts on a read-only domain controller. In this scenario, Setup will fail.

    Does SharePoint 2013 supports SQL Server 2014 for Reporting Services, PowerPivot

    Yes it does (or rather, SSRS 2014/PowerPivot 2014 support SharePoint 2013). They also support SharePoint 2010.
