The Document Enabled Extended Features in Adobe Reader.

Hi Experts,
We are facing a problem while opening a PDF form that is editable. get below error message:
The Document Enabled Extended Features in Adobe Reader,  The document has been changed since it was created & use of extended features is no longer available. Please contact the author for the original version of the document.
Our requirement is like we received a PDF template from client. we added an image field by using Adobe LiveCycle designer to achieve user signature on the field & save the PDF form, once signature field is added; PDF form is opened in Adobe Acrobat X pro to enable readers extensions (open PDF form in Adobe Acrobat X pro -> File -> Save As - > Readers Extended PDF -> Enable Additional features.).
Once this reader Enabled PDF form is uploaded in sharepoint Document library where from user can download this form on their local, open this PDF form is opened in Adobe Reader on their local system the Above mentioned message appears.
Here we are using trial version of Adobe Acrobat X Pro, Can you please confirm if this error is because of this trial version? or some alternate approch.
Thanks,
Ram

  • This document enabled extended features in Adobe Reader. The document has been changed...

I am trying to distribute an interactive order form to approx. 50 recipients with Acrobat X Standard which I purchased recently.  Computer is Windows 7.
I can go through the form editing and distribution as usual, but when I (or a recipient) opens up the distributed form with Adobe Reader, they get the message: “This document enabled extended features in Adobe Reader. The document has been changed and use of extended features is no longer available. Please contact the author for the original version of this document.”
Oddly enough, sometimes is does work, but 90% of the time it doesn’t.
And I have another, older XP computer with Acrobat X installed, and it works fine 100% of the time – weird....can anyone help?

    Hi Ken
We have so many people who have not updated they are trying on 9. I might just have to tell them we can’t support under reader 10.
    Thanks

  • Can a Postscript file distill into a PDF with the "Extend Features in Adobe Reader..." activated?

I need to automate the activation of "Extend Features in Adobe Reader..." for PostScript jobs that distill into PDF forms.
Is there a pdfmark command I could add, or some other method that will do this?

Does not look like it's possible:

  • Extending Features in Adobe Reader disabled

I am wondering if someone can help me with this issue. I'm currently using Acrobat 9 Pro on a MAC. I saved the pdf document with "Extend Features in Adobe Reader." Editorial (uses PC) open the document using Acrobat Standard and added all the comments needed. I open the document and I can add my comments as well. However, when a freelancer who has Adobe Reader only open the document, she got a message saying "use of extended features is no longer available." Why this is happening? Is this a versioning issue, hardware related or what? Any help would be really appreciated.

To be able to add attachments you need to Reader Extend the form using LiveCycle Reader Extensions Server. Acrobat does not have that bit in it to allow attachments (it does allow Digital Signing).

  • Where is located "Advanced/extended features in Adobe Reader" in Acrobat XI?

When you create a form and you want the user to fill it and save it with the filled data, you have to select in Acrobat Pro the menu option "Advanced/extended features in Adobe Reader".
But in Acrobat XI There is no "Advanced" menu and I can't find "Extended features in Adobe Reader" anywhere.
How the hell is it done with Acrobat XI?

I'm not sure. This one in particular has changed to some extent every time since it was first available with Acrobat 8:
    For future reference:
A7: Comments > Enable for Commenting and Analysis in Adobe Reader
A7: Tools > Typewriter > Enable Typewriter tool in Adobe Reader
A8: Advanced > Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader
A9: Advanced > Extend Features in Adobe Reader
A10: File > Save As > Reader Extended PDF > Enable Additional Features
A11: File > Save as Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools (includes form fill-in & save)

  • Can you "Extend Features in Adobe Reader" via Distiller Server 8?

We use Distiller Server 8 to generate upwards of 500 PDF files (soft proofs of ads) each day. We would like the recipients of these files to be able to attach comments and markup the PDFs as a way of providing corrections back to us. The vast majority of these recipients use Adobe Reader, which means we have to "Extend Features in Adobe Reader" in order for the recipients to be able to do this. Is there any way to enable this feature using Distiller Server 8? If so, how?
    Thanks.

  • 'Extend Features in Adobe Reader' causes additional rows to appear in pdf

    Afternoon,
I have a table set up where i have add/delete rows at 3 points within the table, as i have 3 headings within the table.  This was created in Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.2...I want the form to flow onto the next page which works fine, it is saved as Dynamic XML form.
Now I require the form to be filled out by users using Adobe Reader 9, and to do this i open the form in Adobe Acrobat 9 and then save a copy after selecting 'Extend Features in Adobe Reader'...However when i now go and open this file, rows that were not initially in the form appear below the final add/delete row buttons...as if someone has press add row 10 times.
Any ideas what is causing the form to change?
Thanks in advance for your help,
    Jason

I had quite the same case. After extending document for Acrobat Reader there were tables with doubled headers and also
multiple rows - yes, exactly three ones
I solved the problem by setting occurence for each object in Object menu -> Binding -> Repeat .... for Each Data Item.

  • How can I edit a form that has "Extend Features in Adobe Reader"?

I created a form in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 and added Extend Features in Adobe Reader. I need to edit the form, but "Save a Copy" isn't removing the "Extend Features...". I get an error message that I can't edit the form & to "save a copy" in order to edit. What can I do?

When I saw the responses, I pulled out an old version and started over. I already deleted the one that wouldn't revert from extended functions and the copy I created to edit it based on removing extended functions with "save a copy". Thanks anyway. I'd love to know why it wouldn't remove extended functions.

  • Extend Features in Adobe Reader

    Hello,
I'm working on a form that has several dropdown lists fields wrapped individually into hidden subforms which become available (visible) once their assigned check boxes are selected. After testing the form, all works just fine. However, the issue I'm running into is actually coming up only after I Extend Features in Adobe Reader. The issue has to do with the dropdown items, in which I'm using a for loop to display my list of items very much in the same way as the "Purchase Order" form that comes with Adobe LiveCycle. The problem is that before extending the features in Adobe Reader, the dropdown list shows all my items populated in my for loop just as planned, however, once I extend the feature in Reader, all the list items appear twice i.e. item1, item2, item3, then, item1, item2, item3 again as if it "shadows" all the items.
When I noticed the issued in my form, I thought I had done something wrong, but after double checking I confirmed that the issued only occurred on the extended file and not on the original file. So, I decided to test it on the "Purchase Order" form by "Extending Features in Adobe Reader" and and the same thing occurred to the "Part No." items. You can check it out for yourselves!!
I'd appreciate any help you can give me to solve this issue.
    Thank you!!

    Niall,
I actually have my script in the "change" event, and it reads "FruitsScript.getFood(xfa.event.newText, LabelSheets".
I moved it to the "preOpen" event and not only the event keeps firing twice, but I also don't get the second array to display anymore. (LabelSheets).
This is sort of what I have in my actual form. It is a table that expanded in which header 1 would be my items, and header 2 would display the value assigned in the second array.
    Header 1
    Header 2
    Dropdown List (keeps Firing Twice)
    "LabelSheets" (does not display value)
Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it!!!!!!

  • Merged pdf with "extend features in adobe reader" rights

    Hi all,
I would like to merge a pdf file into my basic pdf form with "extend features in adobe reader" rights but I would like to keep my basic form without those rights.
My problem is that when I try to open my basic form and link to my merged attachement file, the merged file becomes not modifiable even with "extend features in adobe reader" rights turned on.
Any suggestion to solve my problem?
Thx in advance for your help

Not possible with Adobe Acrobat. You may check this product:

  • Enable advanced features in Adobe Reader

The Adobe Acrobat 8.0 upgrade enables advanced features in Adobe Reader to a limited number of users.
Does the LiveCycle Designer 8.0 that comes with Acrobat 8.0 also have this option?

You cannot add the usage rights from LiveCycle Designer. You have to save the form as a PDF then open it in Acrobat and add the usage rights.

  • Extend Features in Adobe Reader with VBA?

I merge two PDFs with VBA in MS Access by using Adobe Acrobat X and save the new file with a new name. Before saving the file I want to set "Extend Features in Adobe Reader". But after App.MenuItemExecute "DIGSIG:UBDoc" a popup is opened and I have no idea to go on with saving the PDF.
Is there any way to set "Extend Features in Adobe Reader" without the popup and save the PDF with the new name in VBA?

  • How do I read the documents I have saved in Adobe reader on my iPad on my pc?

I want to back them up on my pc or on an external hard drive and be able to read them on the larger screen when at home. Do I need to save them to an additional source e.g. dropbox or google drive?

You have several options. You can copy them over via Acrobat.com or Dropbox.
But I find the easiest way is if you're using iTunes for backing up your iPad to your computer (you do back it up, right)? If you back up to your computer, then the PDF files already exist on your computer.
Connect your iPad to your computer and sync the files. Then select the name of the device (in the most recent version of iTunes at the upper right). Click the Apps tab. Scroll down to the File Sharing section. You'll see a list of apps which store date: Select Adobe Reader. You'll see a list of all your PDF files. Select file(s) and click the Save To button to save to a different location on your computer.

  • Acrobat Pro 8 and Reader X - Enable Extended Features for Form

Using Acrobat Pro 8.3.0, I "Enabled Usage Rights for Adobe Reader" for a fillable form created in LiveCycle Designer 8.0.  The following error message occurs when opening this form in Reader X:
"This document enabled extended features in Adobe Reader.  The document has been changed since it was created and use of extended features is no longer available.  Please contact the author for the original version of this document."
The form has not been changed and as mentioned, I am the author.  Any solutions to allow user in Reader X to fill-in form?  Do I need to upgrade to Acrobat Pro X?

I am having same problem with a 2011 year tax PDF fill in form I JUST got from IRS website.  The actual form is the 2011 8829.
I can not open the PDF from the web browser or if I save it to my local drive.
I have not been able to open it at all ... thus I have made NO changes.
    I am running Windows 7 64 bit, Adobe Reader X version 10.1.4.
After trying to open the doc (nothing displays) I go to properties, and it says ...
    Title: 2011 Form 8829
    Author: SE:W:CAR:MP
    Created: 12/23/2008
PDF Producer: Adobe LiveCycle DSesigner ES 8.2.
    PDF Version: 1.7 (Acrobat 8.x)
    Tagged PDF: No
    Fast Web View: No
What do I do to resolve this ... I only have this version of Reader ... nothing else.

  • Emailing a document removes extended features in form

    Hi all,
Spent hours on google and even with adobe tech support (1:45 - was nice of the guy to try for that long.. but no results).
I created a most basic form in Adobe 9 Pro Extended. Extended usage rights. On the computer I created it on, I can open it in Adobe Reader, fill out the forms, and submit it with no issues.
When I email it my second PC to test it, I get the (dreaded):
" This document enabled extended features in Adobe Reader. The document has been changed since it was created and use of extended features is no longer available. Please contact the author for the original version of this document".
But, nothing has changed. It was simply emailed.
Both PC's are running Windows 7, With MS Office 2010, both have fully updated Adobe Reader, and my Adobe 9 Pro extended is fully updated.
Any thoughts? Adobe escalated it to some super tech support group that is supposed to call me within 24 hours, but it's put a project of mine on hold (and driving me nuts) so trying to find a solution.
    Thanks,
    C

Sadly, it was a time stamp issue.
My times were correct, but I had one PC (the one I created it on) was off by 1 day for some reason. So when I sent it out it said it was incorrect because the document was 'created' at a time that didn't yet exist.
I read something about the time being off (timezones) but not dates. So silly, and thanks for the replies.
