My bookmarks have disappeared and I can't add new bookmarks.
All my bookmarks have disappeared, including the defaults on the toolbar of most visited, etc. I can't add new bookmarks either. I have tried all the Help Topics on lost bookmarks. I tried restoring bookmark backups, but the backup from the date I lost bookmarks says "unable to process backup file." All the later dates will load, but they have no bookmarks saved in them. All of the other Help Topic attempts went fine but did not solve the problem.
What I would say is that if you have any bookmarks at all at present that you make a manual backup of them, and then continue to make manual backups as any recovery efforts proceed.

There is a possibility that you had corrupt files, and may then have inadvertently overwritten any files that may have contained bookmarks. It is a good idea to make manual backups, for cases where the auto backups do not. work as expected.
If you have already followed the instructions carefully about [[lost bookmarks]] and without resolving the situation, there may not be much you can do about your personal bookmarks. If they are important and you are willing to try there may be a possibility using file recovery software, &/or sqlite editors that something could be salvaged, but not something I can advise on, I am not currently a Mac user.
The default bookmarks should be fairly easy to restore. You can probably also start the bookmarks working again. Trying the simplest options first:

#* at this stage when you see the first dialogue window with options do not make changes, press the continue button
# use the customise / customize option from the toolbars and '''reset defaults'''
#* Mac may differ from my Windows XP, I can right click bookmarks, or use the tools menu see [[How do I customize the toolbars?]]
# if that has failed to resolve the problem go back to safe mode as in step 1 but this time use reset toolbars and controls.
By now you should have the default bookmarks back and maybe the bookmarks work and will save new bookmarks, try it whilst still in safe mode, before going back to try in ordinary mode. If it works in safe mode but not in ordinary mode you probably have some add-on managing to cause problems
If you still have problems and bookmarks will not save see [[bookmarks not saved]] that probably indicates corrupt places.sqlite &/or localstore.rdf the linked article explains how to find and delete them. -
How can I get back all the favicons in my bookmarks?
I reset Safari because it was running slow, and I just noticed that I lost all the favicons for the websites that I bookmarked and stored. When I click on the website, that individual favicon comes back and stays next to the web address in my bookmarks...
But I was wondering is there something that I can do to bring back all the favicons of my bookmarked sites in one step?

Sorry no. Next time you reset Safari, make sure "remove all website icons" isn't ticked.
Keep in mind, webpage icons can take up hard drive space and slow Safari down.
Tip... to make sure you have a backup, from the Safari Menu Bar click File/Export Bookmarks. Save them to an external source so that if you have problems with your Mac, you can Import back them in at a later time.

The missing controls are the sliders for exposure, contrast, clarity, etc. I must have inadvertantly clicked something that made them disappear but nothing I've tried brings them back. I've never had this experience in the years I've been using Lightroom (since version 1.1).
Right-click on any other item Tone Curve for ex., and check on "Basic" if that's what you are missing.
If you miss the complete Develop module right-click any other item Library for ex and put a check on Develop -

Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it, then copy it to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:

from the Finder menu bar. Paste into the text box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
A folder window should open. Restore the file named "Bookmarks.plist" in that folder from a backup that predates the unwanted changes. -

Since the updates to ATV2 and iTunes in the last 2 days. All of the Film & TV Show descriptions have disappeared on my Apple TV2. I spent many months creating descriptions for 1,200 films and 2,000 TV episodes for my self generated content, only to find that this work has been rendered useless since the updates.
Descriptions only seem to be available for 'Purchased Content' and not self generated content, even though the descriptions are still available in the iTunes library.
My 1st Generation ATV still shows descriptions.
Is this a BUG or have Apple made the unilateral decision to remove this facility from ATV2?Glad to see that this has now been fixed with Update 4.2.2

All my bookmarks have disappeared on two machines. I tried used the restore function it did not work, and I tried to updated my Plugins and for some reason Firefox would not register the updates . How can I restore my bookmarks?
Immediately backup the profiles on both machines. Keep the profile backup files and folders somewhere safe outside the Firefox program and profile paths. The Windows Desktop would be a suitable location.

that is not itself a backup, but you may consider the synced second device to be a backup
Restored bookmarks overwrite the existing bookmarks. You may still have some left, but unfortunately you could have overwritten most or all of them with corrupt copies. If you backup the profile at least you have access to copies of whatever automatic backups were made. Note in future that it is good practice to periodically make backups.
Post back again once you have backed up the profiles, and read the linked articles. -

Well, if they have truly disappeared then something is really messed up. For really messed up stuff, you need to set it to factory default condition, and then afterwards, restore it from your backup.

Used to have a little "OPEN NEW TAB" button to the right of the current open tab. Since my upgrade to 6.0.1. this is gone. How can I get it back?
Thanks for the reply. My button was after the last tab until I upgraded. What I did was restore to default tool bar and the button was there. I then re customized my tool bar the way it was.

What is almost always the case when someone says they are missing most of their lens profiles is that their current image is not a raw file. It doesn't matter whether you shoot raw, it matters what the current images is. Maybe it is an exported JPG or a Edit-In-whatever result file that's a TIF or PSD or JPG.

Hi A number of jpg files have lost their creation date. All I see is about three dashes ( --- ). I wanted to replace this information so it shows in the photo program I will be using for archiving and in the finder. Can I change this right in the fin
