The id3 tag problem

Hi everyone. I Hope anyone can help me. I run iTunes Match with one test Album, deleted and downloaded them from the cloud. Than i used matchtag to edit the id3 tags of the Songs. But evertime i update iTunes Match, it rename's all my new id3 tags. How can i update id3 tags in the Cloud?

If you have downloaded the tracks to your iPhone you'll need to delete the tracks from the local storage for the chnages to show up.

hours of work for nothing
This is a known glitch in iTunes Match. If you make a large number of changes to ID3 tags very rapidly some of them might get reverted. Make a smaller number of changes over more time and the tags will "stick" in the cloud.

  • How do i get all the tags i see in the iTunes library to be the ID3 tags?

I have a huge collection of mp3 in iTunes (the latest version), and they are all perfectly organized, but when i open those mp3 files in any other player i see old tags or no tags, because the id3 tags on the mp3 files are not the same as the ones i see on itunes. I've tried the "convert id3 tags" tool but it does not seem to help. How do i get the id3 tags to be the same as iTunes tags?

+HEy any reason why you pick version 2.3,+
itunes didn't work well with 3rd-party plugins and v2.4, and former forum regular Otto told me to use v2.3

  • How to edit the song information contained in the ID3 tags?

    Hello!
I am a newbie to Mac. I used to change the ID3 tags of songs when using Windows by right clicking on 'Properties' and changing the values there. How to do the same on my Mac? I saw only one option related to ID3 tags in iTunes' interface - 'Advanced >> Convert ID3 Tags...'. I clicked on it, checked 'ID3 tag version:' and selected 'v2.4' from the drop down list. It does not work.
So, how do I do it?
    Thank you!

The iTunes Help Menu as well as the forums is a great resource for information about iTunes and "how to".
    From the iTunes Help Menu:
    Editing song information:
When you're connected to the Internet, you can retrieve information about the songs on a CD from Gracenote CDDB (CD database) on the Internet. You can also enter song information into iTunes yourself, or change the information that was retrieved.
    1. Select the song you want to edit, then choose File > Get Info.
    2. Click Info.
    3. Make your changes to the song information, then click OK.
By default, changing information in iTunes also changes the name of the song on your hard disk. To make changes in iTunes without changing the files on your hard disk, choose iTunes > Preferences, then click the Advanced button and click General. Then click to remove the checkmark next to Keep iTunes Music Folder Organized.
You can also make global changes by selecting a group of songs the key board short cut of CMD-I (Apple Key +I).

  • How do I add album artwork to iTunes, but NOT to the ID3 tag, manually?

I imported a lot of mp3s into iTunes. After some messing about with ID3 tags, I got iTunes to download most of the Artwork for my albums.
I've found a lot of the other covers using Slothradio, and I started to copy the images into iTunes. However, I noticed that it was actually adding the images into the ID3tags.
When I checked the music for which iTunes downloaded the covers, it DIDN'T put the artwork into the tags.
So, how do I add the covers to iTunes like it does itself, without putting them in the ID3 tags?
    Any help appreciated.
    Cheers,

  • TV Show ID3 Tag Problems

I wanted to see if anyone had a solution for this. I often backup my DVDs into h.264 and sometimes watch them on my television- I have a JVC that has an ipod dock built in. Right now, if I dock my iphone, it will play movies just fine, but there is an error in the television shows. I looked and the titles of the episodes are fine, but the show is listed as 'unknown' and the episodes are all '0'
I use the current itunes and use the built-in id3 tagging to label and sort them. The shows do not have a problem either in the tv shows section in my itunes library or in the syncing interface.
Has anyone else had this kind of problem? Thanks in advance for any help

You may have set your iPod to sync only unwatched episodes.
Connect your iPod, then when the summary screen appears click on the TV shows tab.
Change the preference to what suits you best.

  • Turkish ID3 tags problem

On my 6120c ID3 Turkish characters shown wrong on music player. But if the mp3 hasn't got ID3 it's shown correct. I try to change font with Arial (it's support Turkish) but it can't resolve.

AIFs don't carry ID3 Tags. You got the track names not from the album, but from an internet databse which stores album and title tags which are linked to a specific number of tracks with specific track lengths. So your album has exactly as many tracks as that polish guy's and the track lengths are also identical, which is a coincidence.
Now, your iTunes database has stored this information, while everyone elses has not. If you pop your CD into my iTunes it won't assign it to Lolek Paczinski, although it might suggest him, as his is currently the only album that fits the desctription.
    Google CDDB for more information.

does anybody know how i can read a MP3 file ID3 tag???
i know the text is at the end of the file... i'm not sure if i can use a pre written bit of code that will do it or if i will have to write the code myself to back track through the file...

I bet there are dozens of examples to do this. Look on www.freshmeat.net and punch in 'Java ID3 mp3 parse'

  • Um... where'd the ID3 tag option go?!?

    What happened?!
    When did this disappear!??
...I've read the other posts on this issue, but there's been NO SOLUTION.
And, NO, it's not in the contextual menu.
    Seriously. This is crazy...
    WHERE IS IT!?

Oh. We were discussing ID3 tags and you jumped in and I was wondering what 25 song limit had to do with that.
Send a suggestion to Apple here -> http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html

  • In Media Source/Zen Xtra 30, track listed as "0", but the id3 tag is fi

Is their some way to resolve this? I have both fully updated.

No, there was definitely a problem with the track tag in mp3 files and it seemed to be OK with 3.30.2. here's the thread:
    http://forums.creative.com/creativel...ssage.id=82657
The solution is to upgrade to 3.30.2 and then re-import the offending files into MediaSource.

  • ITunes changing the ID3 tags and deleting music after syncing or opening

After syncing (or opening iTunes), iTunes changes the tags in about 25% of my music (this time it was about 90% affected). It removes the total track number on some of the songs. This has been a consistent problem. I noticed that it also actually erased some of my music, random tracks in my library are now missing (gone in windows explorer also). I have reformatted my iPod and restored it, it's not that. What is going on!! Going through and fixing 7500 songs every time I sync is ******* me off
Here is a picture of what it is doing: removing the total track on some songs
    http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u233/jupiterssj4/itunes.jpg
Forgot to mention that it also copied the artist field data to the album artist field... had to erase all of those too

Mine is doing the exact same thing. It happens every time I click on a song. Weird letter-number strings are inserted into the Comments field, my album art is gone, and the track numbers are messed up.
I've tried upgrading to the new iTunes. I tried reinstalling iTunes. I turned off my soundcheck option and deleting potentially comprised files. Nothing's worked.
I've tried emailing Apple directly and got no help. Anyone know what's going on???

  • Artwork saved in the ID3 tags as part of the file

Is there a way to check that the correct artwork is saved to the file. I have problems with getting the actual artwork to connect to the file.
I experience that even when I update the artowrk the old ordwork is coming back.
I use iTunes for windows latest version together with iTunes Match.
    Thx

    Kstrid,
To get unambiguous results in iTunes and any other player where you may use the file:
One and only one art per file.  Before you add new art, delete the old one first.
Make sure it is embedded in the file itself.  Pasting into the Artwork tab of Get Info accomplishes this.  Using the Get Album Artwork command of iTunes does not.
Don't trust anything you see in Albums view.

  • I changed the id3 tags of some mp3's how do i get my library to update?

I have the latest version of itunes and i thought I used to be able to click an update button, but now I cant find the way to do this. ANyone know what i might be doing wrong?

File/sync iPod. However, a sync should take place automatically when you connect the iPod, and this will reflect the changes you made to your library.

  • Converted the id3 tags of my entire library, now stuck with duplicates of everything. can i sort by id3 tag version or something to easily delete duplicates?

    help!!!
i have about 6000 tracks that just became 12000

Hold down the SHIFT key and then select File > Display Exact Duplicates. This gives a list of all tracks where more than one track has essentially the same metadata, name, track no., artist, album, etc. Actually, if you know everything has been doubled then I guess you skip that step...
If the duplicates have been recently added into your library as a job lot then you can sort the list on the date added column, select a range of tracks with SHIFT-click and delete all the recent entries. Please check however that there really are two copies of each file before deciding whether to delete the files as well as the entries from the database - get it wrong and you could delete your entire library!
