The ominous Form Server Submit Form QPAC

I've seen here at least one more discussion thread regarding the ominous
Form Server Submit Form QPAC. I think many of the user got confused since this isn't a self-explanatory QPAC, espacially the name!
I've also studied the appropriate documention
"Using LiveCycle Forms QPACs". The documentation shows how to use the input and output variables of the QPAC. But it doesn't explain actually the intended use (in my opinion).
The bad thing on this is that I think the QPAC could even help me, if I would understand it.
Easy & short question:
Can I use this QPAC to convert a pdf document (stored in a document variable) into a form variable?
Any Feedback is welcome...
Nico

Hi Nico
Some background. When Adobe first launched LiveCycle, the first capabilities they needed to expose was encapsulated as Forms Server, and it provided:
1. Rendering a form. This would take a PDF or XDP file, plus some xml data, merge them together, and produce a PDF file.
2. Handling a form submission. This would take the data from an http request coming from a Submit button on a form, process it, and extract the XML data.
The Forms "Submit" QPAC is basically the submission API encapsulated as a QPAC. If you want to know exactly what it does, the best place to look is the LiveCycle Forms documentation.
So, to your question:
If a document variable contains a PDF form, you can use the Form Submit QPAC to extract the XML data.
A form variable is really just the XML data for a form, plus a reference to the PDF or XDP file that should be used for displaying the data - so if you assign the extracted XML to the appropriate node in the form variable, it should work.
I hope this long ramble is helpful.

  • Form Server Submit Form QPAC - Not pulling data

    Hello everyone,
I wanted to see if anyone has encountered problems using the above QPAC.
    My situation is as follows
    1) User sends PDF back. PDF is sent back to workflow as a PDF (not XDP)
    2) Form Server Submit Form is setup to extract the data from the form and put it in a document variable
However, that is not happening. I do know that the document is not broken when it is received from the Email Receiver QPAC (I've used the Avoka Document Extract QPAC to test the form itself) however for whatever reason, the variable is still empty after it is processed.
    Any thoughts are appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Rob

If you install the WorkFlow SDK, there is a document under Documentation that explains all the settings. This is a subset:
To add the Form Server Render Form component to your workflow:
    1. Drag the Form Server Render Form component from the Components palette to your workflow.
    2. Click the General tab. In the Name box, type a name to identify this component in your workflow.
    3. (Optional) In the Description box, type the description of the component.
    4. Click the Input tab. In the Form Query box, type the Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) component (no
protocol or schema) of the form to be rendered. This URI is appended to the Content Root URI value to
form an absolute reference to the form. For example, type:
    Forms/myForm.xdp
    Forms/myForm.pdf
    5. (Optional) In the Form Preference box, type the output format of the form. The default value is AUTO.
For details about form preferences, see Selecting a form preference on page 11.
    6. (Optional) In the Options box, type the rendering options, such as locale or character set. Use an &
(ampersand) to separate the options. For example, type:
    {$ TaggedPDF=false&PDFVersion=1.6&CharSet=UTF-8 $}
For details about rendering options, see Selecting rendering options on page 12.
    7. (Optional) In the User Agent box, type the user agent that identifies the application that will be used to
display the form. The default value is Mozilla/3.x. This property specifies the HTTP header
User-Agent that provides information about the target device. A target device is a client application,
such as a web browser. This value takes precedence over what may exist in environment variables.
You can retrieve this value from the JSP/ASP environment.
    8. If you have an application server that will incorporate services from LiveCycle Forms, in the
Application Web Root box, type the servers root location. This root location is combined with the
Target URL to form an absolute URL to access application-specific web content.
    9. (Optional) In the Input XML Data box, type the location of the XML file that contains the information to
use to prepopulate the form. This data will be merged with the form during rendering. For example,
    type:
    C:\input.xml
Alternatively, you can use a form variable to retrieve data from a previous step in your workflow. Form
variables are primarily used to store the data from the forms submitted to LiveCycle Workflow Server.
The data can then be accessed at run time. For example, type the following expression:
    serialize(/process_data/formVar/form-data/data/*,false)
The serialize function takes the data from the form variable. In this example, the formVar process
variable represents the Form data type. The false parameter encodes the data in UTF-8 in the XML
code. You can optionally set this value to true if you do not want UTF-8 encoding. For more
information about the Form data type, how it works with Adobe LiveCycle Form Manager, and its use in
a workflow process, see the Configuring Human Interaction chapter in Creating Workflows.
    10. (Optional) In the TargetURL box, type the URL of the target device that will receive the posts from this
form. The target URL is inserted into the transformed output invoked during a Submit operation. For
    example, type:
    http://servername:8080/fm/processFormServlet?action=0
    11. In the Content Root URI box, type the URI of the AppStore to specify the absolute reference to a
physical repository from which the content (forms, images, or scripts) will be retrieved. For example,
    type:
    file:///c:/forms
    xappstore://hostname
This value is combined with the Form Query value to form the absolute path to the form to be
    rendered.
Note: The Content Root URI is often constant across many user applications and can be set
    administratively to a persistent value.
    12. If you are using relative paths (such as ../images/graphic.jpg), in the Base URL box, type a base
URL to identify the HTTP equivalent of the Content Root URI. This URL is required for transformations
that include HREF references to external dependencies such as images or scripts. When a dependency
path is absolute, this parameter is ignored; otherwise, the dependency path is combined with the Base
    URL. For example, type:
    http://hostname/forms
    13. If required by the server on which LiveCycle Forms is installed, in the User Name box, type a user name,
and, in the Password box, type a password. If the password is encrypted, it must be Base64 encrypted.
For more information, see Encrypting passwords on page 6.
    14. Click the Output tab. In the Output Document box, click the ellipsis button, and then select the
variable that will receive the new document. The data type for this variable must be document.
    15. In the Page Count box, click the ellipsis button, and then select the variable that will receive the page
count. The data type for this variable must be integer.
    16. In the Page Number box, click the ellipsis button, and then select the variable that will receive the
page number. The data type for this variable must be integer.
    17. Click OK.

  • How do I add a functional "submit button" to a pdf form in Adobe Acrobat Pro XI ? I created the pdf form in Adobe Forms Central.

How do I add a functional "submit button" to a pdf form in Adobe Acrobat Pro XI ? I created the pdf form in Adobe Forms Central. It's for an online Diet Questionnaire. After people complete the form I'd like them to click "SUBMIT" and the completed form will be emailed to me.

This can be a bit confusing because Acrobat 11 comes with the desktop app that allows you to create simple PDF forms without having a FormsCentral account. Some people find this helpful, but you need to understand that when you generate the PDF form, it is Reader-enabled by Acrobat. In order to edit the form further in Acrobat, you have to create a non-enabled copy of the form. You do this in Acrobat by opening the form and selecting: File > Save a Copy
and opening the copy. It is not opened automatically.
You can now add a button and set it up to submit by email, either using a "Submit a form" action or the submitForm JavaScript method. You can set it up to include just the form data or the entire PDF, and will want to use a mailto type URL. Submitting the form to the FormsCentral server has a number of important advantages over email (much more reliable, more secure, etc.), so you might want to consider it.
If the form needs to be saved with Reader versions prior to 11, then you will need to Reader-enable the document. In Acrobat 11 you do this by selecting: File > Save As Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools

  • Node id does not exist for the current application server id  on forms

    Hi,
We have a Two node RAC setup on which Oracle e-business suite R12.0.6 is setup
We have CP and DB on two RAC nodes and Forms and Web on two separate server(non-RAC)
while opening oracle forms we are getting" Node id does not exist for the current application server id "
on checking Concurrent manager logfile we founf no error, we matched Application Server id from DBC file of all the 4 nodes with application table
Fnd_nodes... which matches ( there is no mismatch of application server id) .
We have also tried commenting the application server id in dbc file and executed adgendbc.sh to regenarate dbc file but we are facing the same issue.
Also tried to clear setup with fnd_conc_clone.clean setup and again executing autoconfig on db and application tier but no result yet.
Can some one guide as to which file has this message "Node id does not exist for the current application server id "
and what could be the reason for this.
    Help is appreciated.
    Regards,

I already tried the mentioned metalink note id but it did not work. What did you try exactly?
Can u help out as from where am i getting the message "Node id does not exist for the current application server id" It is already mentioned in the doc referenced above -- From the dbc file under $FND_SECURE directory.
i mean from which file does the above message comes. Please clean FND_NODES table as per (How to Clean Nonexistent Nodes or IP Addresses From FND_NODES [ID 260887.1]), run AutoConfig on the database tier then on the application tier and check then.

  • How do I prefill an xdp/pdf and then submit the completed form to database

I would like to send prefilled data into the xdp/pdf file.
The starting point would be a web page, with a link that directs the user to the xdp/pdf file and prefill that form with some data from the url link.  Then  let the person complete the rest of the form and click on a submit button which would send the form to a url so I can process the data into a datbase.
I did this in the past with Acrobat 5.
Now I have Acrobat Pro 10 with lifecycle designer.
I am looking for tutorial on this material.
Thanks in advance for any assistance
    Dean-O

Thanks for your reply... but i don't believe that does not apply to PDFs and XDP files created in Life Cycle... unless I missed something.  Please advise.
XDP files are the new form tool for Adobe, but not sure I like the change.  They have gotten rid of the document level javascripts, which is what would be used to populate a PDF, but not an XDP file.
Any others have any ideas on how I can create a link in a web page that would point to an xdp file (new adobe form) and send in url parameters to prefill fields in the form?
    Thanks in advance

  • Error in sharepoint 2010 designer while saving:"Content in the embedded form may be changed by the the server to remove unsafe content.Do you want to reload your page to see the results of the save? "

    Hi,
I am doing development  in sharepoint 2010 and facing this very weird problem.
If I create a site page with the sharepoint look and feel for that site and try to save the site page,i am getting this error:**"Content in the embedded form may be changed by the the server to remove unsafe content.Do you want to reload your page to see
the results of the save? "** and when i say reload, the server removes some parts of my page, e.g onclick event of html, asp buttons.
This error just comes for any sharepoint site page,e.g i took a copy of 'How To Read Library' page just edited the text part of taht page, and when i try to save this error again comes up.
However,if i create a simple aspx page with only htmltags like head body, then thr is no problem ,everything works great. But sharepoint look and feel pages are giving troubles while saving.
has anybody seen this earlier, what could be the reason for this?
    Thanks

I think the excerpt and link below is the why, but the page talks about server code and not javascript.  I guessing that this is why blank pages work, but not wiki pages.  Can anyone verify this?
The following are general rules for using server-side code on a site page.
If the page is uncustomized, server-side code is supported on the page.
If the page is customized, server-side code does not run, and the page does not render. This includes the code-behind for the page itself.

  • Attachments added to the Interactive form is lost after submit

    Hi All,
I have a scenario where the user can add attachments to the Interactive Form Online and click on Submit to archive the filled form. The problem is that i am not able to retrieve the attachments added to the form.
The datasource of the ITF is bound to the View Context node and the pdfsource is bound to an attribute of XSTRING type.
Here i am able to see the changed values of the Input fields in my context node. But, any attachments added is lost.
How can i retrieve the attachments? I tries calling the Methods SET_TASK_GETATTACHMENTS and GET_ATTACHMENTS of PDF Objects but it always returns null.
    FYI,
if i use file upload UI Element and upload an existing form with attachments then i am able to get the list of attachments by calling the Methods SET_TASK_GETATTACHMENTS and GET_ATTACHMENTS of PDF Objects before this PDF is displayed in the next view. (binding the XSTRING of FIle Upload UI to the PDFSOURCE of the ITF).
Here also if i add some new attachments to the PDF and click on submit then these new docs are  lost.
In short whenever i add attachments to the pdf dynamically via add attachment option after the PDF is displayed the new attachments are lost.
Please let me know how to correct this.
    Thanks,
    Abhishek

There is a default functionality provided by Adobe... If all your fields are field, you can not submit. It will prompt .. to fill the form.
Only you have to mark those field as mandatory.
So select the field -> Go to Object Pallet -> Value Tab -> select the type as User entered Required
    This will solve your problem.
You can also customise the requirements through scripting language.
    cheers

But i want to fetch that image from SAP server/application layer.
    plzz help me out...

  • Can we have the 'select list with submit' type within a tabular form?

An item can be the "Select list with submit' type so a form has no problem with it. However, when I built a tabular form manually, I couldn't find this type. There are only three types avaiable: "named", "static", and "dynamic".
Is it possible to have the "submit" type so columns of the tabular form can be dynamically rendered based on the user inputs?
Another question I have is how to dynamically build the tabular form with decode func. For example, if the value of col_1 is 'val_1', then build a select list in col_2; otherwise null in col_2.
    I tried to use
    select col1,
decode (col1, 'val_1', select htmldb_item.select_list_from_lov(2, first, 'lov1') from dual, null)
    from....
    where....
    But it didn't work.
I'd like to know whether it's feasible to have something like that.
    TIA.

You could use a region of type PL/SQL function
returning SQL query to dynamically build this kind of
tabular form. However if you want to use the built-in
multi-row insert, update and delete processes, all
items in a column must have the same display type. Marc, thanks for the quick reply. I appreciate it.
I got your idea. However, I need to have the javascript 'ToggleAll' as the heading so the form works as same as the built-in one. If I put the query definition into a pl/sql procedure, where I can put this html tab attribute? It can not be inside the checkbox function, otherwise the checkbox of any row would act as same as the header.
I hope I've made this clear.

  • How can I use the global varialbes in the Web Form Server?

When I migrate the Form5 to Form6i and deploy the form into WEB, I encounter a problem. In Form5, I use a form to call all the functions forms and process the login. So, the functions forms can get the login user's information by :Global variable. Now, in Web method, I use a jsp to process the login and functions hyperlinks, and the problem is how can I build a global variable in jsp and access by form in form server?
    Thank you very much!

Nested tables are not supported in Forms 6i, only simple object tables.

  • Handling Submit Button on the ADOBE form called from Web Dynpro

    Hi,
I have placed a Button on the ADOBE Form. How to Handle the event on this button. When i click this button, i want to save the details of the form into a Custom table.

    Hi Majunath.
Create an event say, SUB_EVTin the view in WD where you have the Interactive Form UI element.
Bind this event to the onSubmit of the Form.
Now check the display type of the form. It will be either ActiveX or Native.
Now go to the form designer and open Library palette. Navigate to Webdynpro ActiveX or Native Library(Depending on the form display Type in WD).
    Drag and Drop Submit button.
On click of the button, the event handler in WD view namely, onActionsub_evt will be invoked. You can write your code in this handler.
Now in order to read data from the form. Go to the form and go to Properties tab. Check the form layout type. If it is not ZCI, run transaction SFP_ZCI_UPDATE and convert the form to ZCI type.
Now back to the event handler.
as an example... I will use the following context node definitions
    PDF_DATA  1..1
      ACTUAL_DATA 0..n
        ATTRIB01
        ATTRIB02
Assume the the node PDF_DATA is bound to the data source of your form.
Now in the event handler write the foll code
data: lo_node type ref to if_wd_context_node,
            lt_data   type wd_this->elements_actual_data.
    lo_node = wd_context->get_child_node( name = wd_this-.wdctx_pdf_data ).
    lo_node = lo_node->get_child_node( name = wd_this-.wdctx_actual_data ).
    lo_node->get_static_attributes_table(
      importing
        table = lt_data ).
This will get all the form data in the internal table lt_data.
Now you can process the data the way you want and save it in your custom tables.

i remembered that i have mapped a network place "http://pluton:8080/appstore/Forms/", so i checked if i can see the forms. And i was ask for user and password! Bang Bang! So i entered in Render Form QPAC user and password and it looks better now.
Few more problems with XML data and it's finally working.
So it looks like user name and user password are mandatory fields.
    Summary:
in FSFR QPAC i filled fields:
    -form query
    -form preference
-input xml data (only if you want to fill form fields)
    -content root uri (xappstore://pluton)
    -user name
    -user password
    and in output tab
-output document (variable of type document).
    Great,
BTW, in lc_wf_write_PDF_tip.pdf which is instruction for writing pdf to the file system, maybe i'm wrong, is one mistake:
    you can't switch line:
    String file_str = patExecContext.getProcessDataStringValue(/process_data/@Output_Filename);
    with:
    File file_str = new File(C:\\Documents and Settings\\Default User\\Expense Form\\outputfile.pdf);
In this lines file_str variable is of different types. Or maybe it doesn't matter ;)
That's all for now, thank You all for help, and see You on Document Security forum ;))

  • Auto submit virtual form on change (not the whole form)

If you tick the "auto submit on change" option of a drop down, it submits the whole form, thus all the required fields have to be filled. Are there any way to submit only the perticular virtual form on change?
    Thank you very much.

I don't see the problem... Are the files being digitally signed? If not then there's no difference at all between submitting the form data and using it to populate a local copy of the file and submitting the entire file.
It's technically impossible to extract a page from a PDF viewed in Reader.
Another alternative: Split the file in two parts and put a link on the last page of the first file to the second part, which will contain only the page with the form fields. You can add a link and some text to the page saying that it is a continuation of the first document.
