The order of result changed in oracle 10g after migration from 9i.

i am using the below query to fetch data from two views.
SQL:
select distinct PVCID pvcid, PATH_ID pathId, fnn fnn, g.XDM_SERVICEID xdmServiceid, TC_SERVICETYPE tcServicetype, TC_PORTTYPE tcPorttype, TERMINATION_TYPE terminationType,
TC_PRODUCTCODES tcProductcodes, TERM_ID termId, TERM_NAME termName, TERMINATION_TYPE_ID terminationTypeId, A_EQUIPMENT_ID equipmentId,
A_EQUIPMENT_NAME equipmentName, A_EQUIPMENT_TYPE equipmentType, A_EQUIP_TYPE equipTypeId, AEND_BLOCK_TEST_REQ aendBlockTestReq, Z_EQUIPMENT_ID ZEquipmentId, Z_EQUIPMENT_NAME ZEquipmentName,
Z_EQUIPMENT_TYPE ZEquipType, Z_BLOCK_TEST_REQ blockTestReq, RADIUS_ENABLED radiusEnabled, D_PBR DPbr, U_PBR UPbr, BRAS_TYPE brasType from V_GET_PVCID g,V_TERM v where FNN='A0721122234' and g.xdm_serviceid=v.xdm_serviceid order by TC_SERVICETYPE
this gives two rows as output, but in different order for 9i and 10g.
This is affecting the working of the application. can any one help me out here.
thanks in advance

Since you specify only 1 column in the ORDER BY, ordering is done only against that column. Rows returned may appear differently appeared with respect to other columns.
If you need a specific order, include all the required columns in the ORDER BY clause.
(10g introduced GroupByHashAggregation so ordering isn't guaranteed to be the same as in 9i unless you correctly specify an ORDER BY clause. Even in 9i, Oracle didn't gurantee that they would always appear in the same order --- the appearance was only an after-effect of the manner in which Oracle implemented DISTINCT and GROUP BY operations in 9i).

  • Oracle 10g XE migrate from 32bit to 64bit becomes slower

Oracle 10g XE migrate from 32bit to 64bit becomes slower
Currently we have a database using Oracle 10g XE R2
(Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0)
    on a linux 32bit server.
And recently we did migrate it to another 64bit linux server.
But found after migration is it running slower at 64bit server (~ 25% slower)
    1. We would wonder any tuning is required on 64bit server?
Besides, as I know Oracle XE only using single core CPU for processing.
    On 32bit linux the CPU is Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E31235 @ 3.20GHz
    On 64bit linux the CPU is Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2470 v2 @ 2.40GHz
    2. Would the CPU clock speed on a single core also made the 64bit Oracle slower?
    Thanks a lot.

32 or 64 bit normally won't cause much performance difference as long as you can't use > 4GB RAM
Please note that XE can use only 1 core and 1GB memory.
According to benchmarks, Single Thread Rating of the 2 CPU really differ by around 25%. Quite consistent with your observation.
Of course, IO (i.e., disk) speed is also an important factor.

  • Password problem in oracle 10g after upgrading from oracle 9i

    Hi to all,
    i'm migrating oracle 9i to oracle 10g. in oracle 9i username/password are same character(eg kareem/kareem)
after upgrading to oracle 10g will it create any problem. Because in oracle 10g the condition is when creating user is username and password should not contain same character (kareem/kareem not allowed).
    Thanks in advance

in oracle 10g document, they have mention below condition to create user. See the second condition.
    • Passwords must be between 4 and 30 characters long.
    • Passwords cannot be the same as the user name.
    • Passwords must be from the database character set and can include the underscore (_), dollar ($), and pound sign (#) characters.
    • Passwords cannot be Oracle reserved words.
    • Don't start the password with a numeral.
    • Don's use change_on_install or manager as passwords, since they are used by Oracle.
As i'm going to upgrade oracle 9i to 10g. if it give problem because username and password are same then i have to request my development team to change the password in their application. Can you please verify and tell me.

  • Runnig forms in oracle 10g after  migrating them from oracle 6i

Guyz ....i have developed forms in oracle 6i and when i presented them to the my manager he says that he wants them to be web based.....arghhhh.!!!!!! shud have told me at the beginning itself....anyways i downloaded the forms 10g from oracle website and migrates my forms from 6i to 10g ....
1.The forms are getting compiled and i can run them on my laptop.. i wanna noe whats the procedure to run them on other system .....the port number is 8889
I mean running them on a web on some other LP or system.???
2.And my 2nd problem is that ...The records are not being saved in 10g as in 6i. I created the forms in 6i using the data block wizard and set the block accordingly as told by u people in this forum

Look at the existing formsweb.cfg configuration file located in your <DEVSUITE_HOME>/forms/server folder. It allows you to create different sections to start your Forms applications.
For instance, if you create a application_1 section, give this name in your URL.

  • Exchange server name not changing in mail profile after migration from 2010 to 2013

Following a migration from 2010 to 2013 we are finding that for a number of users the old exchange server address stays in the mail profile (control panel -> mail -> e-mail accounts) which causes Outlook not to load.
We are able to go into control panel -> mail -> e-mail accounts and change this manually to the new exchange 2013 server address but we have quite a number of users and don't really want to do it manually.
Shouldn't it be updating automatically and if so why is it?

    Hi,
Yes, it should be changed by autodiscover. Does this issue occur to all the migrated users?
I have seen this kind of issues before when migrating from Exchange 2003/2007 to Exchange 2010. The most efficient way is to rebuild the Outlook profile.

  • What is the use of SYSAUX Tablespace in Oracle 10G

    Dear Experts,
Please Tell me What is the use of SYSAUX Tablespace in Oracle 10G Because
during Web Load Testing It is going to increase countinuosly.Although i am not using this with any tables.
How Can I find out the what is gong on in this.
Can I Remove this tablesspace and other non using Schemas like FLOWS_020100,MDSYS,OUTLN,DIP and TSMSYS etc.

    What is SYSAUX?
The SYSAUX tablespace provides storage of non-sys-related tables and indexes that traditionally were placed in the SYSTEM tablespace. For example, the tables and indexes that were previously owned by the system user can now be specified for a SYSAUX tablespace. Unfortunately, Oracle still places the SCOTT schema and the other demonstration schemas in the SYSTEM tablespace. Go figure.
The SYSAUX tablespace is specified with the CREATE DATABASE command. This is demonstrated in the example database creation script in Figure 1.1.
    CREATE DATABASE test
    MAXINSTANCES 1
    MAXLOGHISTORY 1
    MAXLOGFILES 5
    MAXLOGMEMBERS 3
    MAXDATAFILES 100
DATAFILE '/usr/oracle/OraHome1/oradata/aultdb1/test/system01.dbf' SIZE 300M REUSE AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT 10240K MAXSIZE UNLIMITED
    EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL
SYSAUX DATAFILE '/usr/oracle/OraHome1/oradata/aultdb1/test/sysaux01.dbf' SIZE 120M REUSE AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT 10240K MAXSIZE UNLIMITED
DEFAULT TEMPORARY TABLESPACE TEMP TEMPFILE '/usr/oracle/OraHome1/oradata/aultdb1/test/temp01.dbf' SIZE 20M REUSE AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT 640K MAXSIZE UNLIMITED EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL
UNDO TABLESPACE "UNDOTBS1" DATAFILE '/usr/oracle/OraHome1/oradata/aultdb1/test/undotbs01.dbf' SIZE 200M REUSE AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT 5120K MAXSIZE UNLIMITED
    CHARACTER SET WE8ISO8859P1
    NATIONAL CHARACTER SET AL16UTF16
    LOGFILE GROUP 1 ('/usr/oracle/OraHome1/oradata/aultdb1/test/redo01.log') SIZE 10240K,
    GROUP 2 ('/usr/oracle/OraHome1/oradata/aultdb1/test/redo02.log') SIZE 10240K,
    GROUP 3 ('/usr/oracle/OraHome1/oradata/aultdb1/test/redo03.log') SIZE 10240K
    USER SYS IDENTIFIED BY "password" USER SYSTEM IDENTIFIED BY "password";
    Oracle10g sysaux
With the new SYSAUX tablespace, Oracle comes closer to providing all the needed tablespaces for a truly OFA-compliant database right out of the box. With just one CREATE DATABASE command we can specify the SYSTEM tablespace, the TEMPORARY tablespace, the AUXSYS tablespace, the default UNDO tablespace, and the redo logs.
Of course, with the Oracle Managed Files option you can create an entire database with a single command, but the database created is not suitable for production use and is not OFA-compliant.
The SYSAUX tablespace is required in all new 10g databases. Only the SYSAUX tablespace datafile location is specified. Oracle specifies the remainder of the tablespace properties including:
    online
    permanent
    read write
    extent managment local
    segment space management auto
If a datafile is specified for the SYSTEM tablespace, then one must be specified for the SYSAUX tablespace as well. If one is not specified, then the CREATE DATABASE command will fail. The only exception is for an Oracle Managed File system.
During any update of a database to Oracle Database 10g, a SYSAUX tablespace must be created or the upgrade will fail. The SYSAUX tablespace has the same security profile as the SYSTEM tablespace. However, loss of the SYSAUX tablespace will not result in a database crash, only the functional loss of the schemas it contains.
    Can I drop SysAux?
    DROP DATAFILE

  • Is this the right path to become a Oracle 10g DBA

I installed Oracle 10g XE with the intention of bringing myself upto speed for Oracle DBA course for Oracle 10g.
Now, let me give my background. I have done lot of programming on PL/SQL on Oracle 8i, but that was more than 4 years ago. I have been more functional for past 4 years. Now I am am trying to get into DBA role.
What all should I focus on XE, in order to prepare myself for Oracle 10g DBA course?
    Thanks in advance.

Is installing XE the right path to becoming a DBA?
I would say that it isn't! XE is perfect if you need a production database and can fit it within the XE limitations. XE is also perfect if you want a Oracle DB with out any of the DBA fuzz. If you want to learn you should install Enterprise Edition. You can get the software on oracle.com, and I believe that you can use it for free as long as you do not do any production on it. XE is not shipped with enterprise manager (oem). However it is shipped with the Enterprise Edition, so another argument for installing that and not XE.
So to summarize it: Get a Enterprise Edition!

  • Hotkey (Ctrl+B) is not working after migration from Forms 6i to 10g

    Dear Gurus,
Need your help regarding the following problem:
After migrating from Forms 6i to 10g (Rel 2), Ctrl+B (used to list the blocks in a form) hotkey is not working anymore (all other hotkeys are working fine). I've checked my FMRWEB.RES and it contains an entry for Ctrl+B:
    66 : 2 : "Ctrl+B" : 70 : "Block Menu"
    Additional Information:
    OS: AIX
    NLS_LANG = UTF8
fmrweb_utf8.res also contains the same text for Ctrl+B as above.
I tried to reproduce it on my Windows Machine (with NLS_LANG set to AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1) and its not working as well. I don't have right to put move files on AIX server but i can try anything (on my local system) suggested by the Oracle gurus.
    Best Regards,

    Dear Gerd,
"are you sure, that it is the hotkey"
Yes, i am dead sure. Since:
    (1) It was working fine in forms 6i
    (2) If you run a form and select Help => Keys, you will see Ctrl+B on the top of list
The problem is its not taking into account the keys which i am defining in the file (although i am following the same procedure detailed on metalink.oracle.com).

  • Display graphs in 10g on migration from forms 6i

    Hello,
plesase can u tell me how will u display forms in 10g on migration from forms 6i?
    mamata

The HOST command in Forms can only call procedures on the client that runs Forms (assuming you run Forms in client/server mode, this is the user's PC).
If you want to run a procedure on the database host, you have to call this procedure from the database, not from Forms.
In 8i the easiest way is to do this via a Java stored procedure:

After Migrating from 10g to 11g Geeting problems with Guided navigations and section navigations not working.
And we are getting the following error <<odbc driver returned an error (SQLExecDirectW)>> where we have used navigations.
In 10G we have Guided navigation Reports to display the Reports links and intermediate reports for conditionally displaying the Dashboard section(Reports) but after migrating to 11g Guided navigation reports and conditional reports are not working..
We know that in 11g section navigation replaced with conditions and Guided navigation replaced with action link.. but
do we need to recreate those reports in actions and condition or is there any work around avoid reworking.

    Hi Both,
    Thanks for the reply ...
For Guided navigation we are getting like below error:
