The packages

Question

Hi to everyone!! I made a package called 'pack' building a directory with the same name into my jdk under src/java.
then I wrote the simple program 'bianka.java'
import java.pack.*;
public class bianka
     public static void main(String[] args)
          System.out.println("Hello World!");
when I compile this program I have an error... "java.pack doesn't exist" why??
Can you help me?

Hi Bianka,
Dunno if you got it fixed, but anyway, the first line in the file you added to your pack directory might need to be:
package java.pack;
This defines that file as a member of the java.pack package.
I say the same as swaminathan17, that you TOTALLY shouldn't put your package here, this is Java's place. Use something a directory like com/bianka/pack, like you had a registered website. Your package will then be imported as:
import com.bianka.pack.*;
Your files within your new pack directory will now have as their first line:
package com.bianka.pack;
If the compiler can't find the package then you have a class path problem, there are usually help files on your compiler about how to set the classpath (basically it is a list of directories where the compiler starts looking from, it adds import statements to the end of the directories and hopes to find the package e.g. a dir in the classpath is "D:\me\", if your package is "com.bianka.pack" it will try to find the files in "D:\me\com\bianka\pack\".)
