The songs on my iPhone 5 can't be played, what's wrong?

All of a sudden songs I've had on the phone (iPhone 5) has stopped being available. There's a little "stop" mark (a square in a circle) next to them and the player just skips them. What can I do??

Try plugging in to power, and holding BOTH buttons (Home button & Sleep/Wake Button) for around 10 seconds. See if it reboots then.

You copy them from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer.
The iphone is not a backup/storage device.

My computer with my original library has crashed, how can i keep all the songs on my iphone, but still add new songs from my new library?

My computer has died and will not be working ever again. Problem is, i have all of my songs on that computer in my itunes library as well as on my phone. Now i want to add some songs to my phone from some new cds and it tells me i will loose all my songs on my phone right now when i perform the sync. It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion. Use your backup copy of your computer to put everything on the new one.
If for some reason you have failed to backup, big mistake, then you can transfer itunes purchases from the iphone to the computer: File>Transfer Purchases
You may be able to buy a 3rd party program to get any other music off of the iphone ( not supported by Apple).
When you sync the iphone, it will erase the current content and replace with content form the new computer.

How can I get the songs on my iPhone to play since updating to iOS 5.1.1?

I have an iPhone 3Gs and I've imported CD's into iTunes on my mac mini and synced it with my iPhone. Since I installed the latest iOS on my iPhone, some of the songs don't play all the way through, they skip to the next song. I listened to the songs in my iTunes library and each song plays through. Last night I tried to resolve the issue by removing the songs from my iPhone, syncing it again and adding the songs but it didn't work.
Can anyone tell me what steps I need to take to resolve this issue?

Why are the songs in my iPhone playlists grayed out. I am unable to move and organize them. I just downloaded some audio books from Audible and I cannot moved them to a playlist on my iPhone either. What step am I missing?

Yes, you can't. The default order in the main window is based on date, ascending or descending when you are in the standard 'thumbnail view'. If you are in 'folder' view, with your folders shown in the left panel, you are shown the pictures in alphabetical order of the file names.

I have so many pictures. I wanted to put all the pictures for each album next to each other so I can find them easily.
It's not difficult to create albums and 'drag' pictures in it. When an album is selected, you can move your pictures around in any order in the main window panel.
Albums are one way of grouping and ordering pictures. You should try to use keywords to organize and retrieve your pictures.

Connect your iPod to your computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". There is also manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. When you set up a Smart Playlist, it automatically populates the list with songs. You don't have to do anything. Now, you may not have set it up properly, meaning your set up fails to recognize any songs.
If you just want to put music in a Playlist, just create one, give it a name. Then drag the music from the "music" list to the playlist. It copies the information there. And when you sync the Playlist to your iPhone, all the music goes.
It's truly easy, but there is a bit of a learning curve until you're good at it. Keep asking questions here, everyone will help you. But do read the Apple documents, they lay out pretty straightforward.

I have a couple of steps for you to try in order to get those songs transferred to your iPod touch. First, make sure all of your software is updated with the latest versions. If the songs were downloaded from iTunes, you will also want to delete the songs from your library and then download them again from the list of past purchases on your iTunes account. If you try a sync after those two steps and are still seeing the issue, then I would like you to try syncing the iPod by setting it to manually manage. An article outlining more information on manually managing your iPod sync can be found here:

Restore them to the new computer using the bakcup of the old one. If you don't have a backup of the old computer, you can re-download music purchased from the iTunes store. If they were imported from CD's, etc. You will either have to re-rip them or purchase third party software to extract them from the phone. The iPhone is not a backup or data transfer device.

Duplicate songs on Iphone that can't be played

Hi all,
I have 11 songs on my iphone 4s that are duplicates of songs I have, although these duplicates seem to be corrupt because they can't be played. I can't swipe left to right to delete these songs on the iphone, and under itunes on my mac, I only see one copy of the song. I've been a little confused so what I did was go to itunes and under iphone, I unchecked sync music. Ideally, now all the music should be gone, but these 11 useless songs are still there. I'm not sure what's causing the problem here, and I'm not sure how to delete these 11 songs since I can't delete them from my phone and I can't find them on my computer. They seem like they don't exist as music files except they show up under my song list. How do I delete them?
