The trouble of applying Microsoft Update in June 2006

Hi,
I used an ActiveX control in BSP Application(IC Web Client), and it worked fine.
However, JavaScript error occured when latest Microsoft Update was applied.
It was not possible to control ActiveX.
Perhaps, I think that it is because of Microsoft Hotfix 912945.
But the trouble is different from assumed what.
I have already tried to put activx component in a normal html page and it works fine.
Please help me resolve this.

At last, I was able to solve the problem.
I opened the security tab in Internet Option, and
added the host name of ICWC(ex. *intec.co.jp) to the Web site of Intranet.
I can confirm that ActiveX control works fine now.
Jung's advice, "no differences between the plain html page and the BSP",
has stimulated to solve the problem.
I noticed a difference between execution on local PC and execution on Web/AP Server.
Result of examining the difference, it turned out that it works fine on Intranet,
but it doesn't work fine on Internet.

Hi,
This message appears when an update has been sent for his approval and is pending. It could happen while opening the project plan, or when clicking on something like "retreive tasks updates" from the backstage menu of MS Project Pro.
The PM should go to his approval center and check for any approval pending.

Latest microsoft updates crash audition 6

Hi All--
after installing the latetst round of Microsoft updates on 10-10-2013, Audition 6 has issues. The program will open and everything seems fine until you attempt to record. There is no movement on the record screen and no input volume is shown, but the bottom left corner message shows "recording". Also, if you select a file to play, it will load and display the waveform, but when you click on play, nothing happens. I did a system restore to a point before the updates were installed and everything works fine. Before doing each of the Microsoft updates one at a time to find the culprit, has anyone else experienced this problem? I'm running Windows 7. THANKS!!!!

I downloaded and installed the latest Windows 7 updates a few minutes before seeing this thread so I thought I'd try a recording just using the built in Realtek sound card (for real recording I use an external device with its own drivers).
I also had problems but not the same as described above. In my case, I got the usual error message about sample rates for record and playback not matching so recording was not possible.
When I checked the Windows Audio Controls I found that the record sample rate was indeed 11.025kHz while playback was at 48kHz. I don't often (well, almost never) use the Realtek for recording so doubt I set it this way--but can't remember the last time I played with these settings so can't be sure.
However, resetting them both to match at 44.1 (and clicking Apply) didn't clear the fault. I finally got recording happening by closing Audition, going to the Windows audio control, changing both settings, exiting audio control, going back and finally re-selecting 44.1/16 bit and Apply. I then re-opened Audition CC and the recording was fine.
So...to sum up my rambling post, it DOES appear that there's circumstantial evidence the Windows update has messed with audio settings and that users may need to do some tweaking to get things going.
Edited to Add: I've just noticed the Audition icon now has the blue and yellow Windows "Shield" warning on it both on my desktop and on the bar at the bottom of the screen when running. I've never seen this before.

I've tried most of the trouble shooting chart (no updates available, tried restarting app, restarted device) all I have left is to re-install the app... My main fear is that if I do this I will lose a load of recent projects that are saved to the app that I've spent the last few days creating... Help...

I have tried all those things I even updated the software to the new iOS system and it still did fix my problem.
What happened is that my garage band looks like it will open then it shuts down.
I have lot of important things on my garage band and I'm afraid that if I uninstall it deleting it then reinstalling it all my work on it will be gone and I can't have that happen.
Everyday I am hoping that when i go to open the app that is will work but it doesn't it gets ready to turn on then it shuts off , the app doesn't even open all the way and turns off.
I really hope I don't have to erase it.
It'll say it's ,lading my songs then it shuts down .
If I waited for the App Store to come up with an update for garage band should I wait till then to update my app so it doesn't get damaged . I don't want to erase it and all my data get erased . I figured if I wait for an update then my garage band will reset itself but won't delete my data. I'm not sure if that will help. Is there anything you or anyone else might know that can help me with this matter ?

(1) You say you did the symbolic link. I will assume this is set correctly; it's very important that it is.
(2) I don't know what you mean by "Been feeding the [email protected] for several weeks now, 700 emails each day at least." After the initial training period, SpamAssassin doesn't learn from mail it has already processed correctly. At this point, you only need to teach SpamAssassin when it is wrong. [email protected] should only be getting spam that is being passed as clean. Likewise, [email protected] should only be getting legitimate mail that is being flagged as junk. You are redirecting mail to both [email protected] and [email protected] ... right? SpamAssassin needs both.
(3) Next, as I said before, you need to implement those "Frontline spam defense for Mac OS X Server." Once you have that done and issue "postfix reload" you can look at your SMTP log in Server Admin and watch as Postfix blocks one piece of junk mail after another. It's kind of cool.
(4) Add some SARE rules:

10.5.5 Update stuck - is it worth all the trouble ?

I have just downloaded the latest update ( 10.5.5 ) and then rebooted my iMac , next the software Update
box appeared on screen as usual, saying .. Installing 1 item , configuring Installation .
Then the Blue progress bar started to move to the right , went about 1/4 of an inch and stopped there, I left the iMac running for Two hours and the progress blue bar had not moved. I then turned off the iMac , re booted , re connected to the internet , clicked software up date, the 10.5.5 update was shown again, I then clicked to download this update, then the do you want to shutdown now notice appeared, so I shutdown again and the whole same process started again as before . So basically It seems that the update 10.5.5 has been downloaded onto my iMac, but gets stuck on the .. Installing 1 item - configuring Installation part.
I have gone through the Zap PRAM and Repair Permission , but that seems not to have resolved any thing
I did un plug any external USB items while the - Installing 1 item - configuring Installation part was in operation.
and Ive gone through the Apple web page ... Mac OS X 10.5: Troubleshooting installation, startup, and login issues , ..... but cannot see any thing that relates to my problem
I have had a long look through this forum for an answer , but no luck yet only,other people with different 10.5.5 update problems.
I only have a dial up internet connection which makes this large update a pain in the backside to do, so If I have to re install this 10.5.5 update again its going to drive me back to drink .
Other that that the iMac is running fine.
Should I have waited a bit longer before trying to update to 10.5.5 , it it really worth all the trouble ?
I am fairly new to Apple Mac's and I never thought that there would ever be a problem with a simple update
to my first ever Mac , a bit disappointing really .
so any help would be most appreciated which hopfully will re boost my confidence in the whole new Mac experience

Not to muddy the waters, but I do not agree with the statement, "The only time you should update is when a software you need only runs on that update."
As the description of the update says, you must also consider improvements in stability & most importantly security. While OS X is among the most secure of operating systems, security flaws are discovered from time to time, & to prevent the possibility of someone exploiting them, you should seriously consider keeping your OS version up-to-date. Updates also generally include miscellaneous fixes that often do improve stability of applications & the OS itself.
While the About the Mac OS X 10.5.5 Update article doesn't mention any new security updates that you could not get from the Apple security updates page, Apple does not always mention everything an update includes, so it is not a good idea to assume your security is assured unless you do apply the latest OS update. And of course, if any of the improvements mentioned in the "What's included?" section of the article are of interest to you, you will have to apply the update to get them.
Regarding the "stuck" installation itself, Apple recommends in the previously mentioned "About the Mac OS X 10.5.5 Update" article that you should download & run the stand alone Mac OS X 10.5.5 Combo Update if an interruption occurs during installation. This is worth doing even if everything seems OK after an interrupted installation: as Mac OS X: Troubleshooting installation and software updates explains, if the installation stops during the "optimization" step, performance may be affected.
I do not agree with everything 'a brody' says, but I heartily agree with his emphasis on the importance of having a backup. (Also note that Apple strongly recommends this precaution!)

Poor Firefox performance after applying recent Microsoft Updates (Win 7 x64); any solutions?

Recently I updated to Firefox 27 and noticed really horrible performance (Task Manager shows FF pegging one core, frequent "Firefox is not responding messages", even lagging keystrokes in the URL bar). This is on an Ideapad s205 (AMD E450 APU, Win 7 x64, 8GB RAM, SSD) that has always had pretty decent web browsing performance for a low-end machine.
Initially I blamed FF because the poor performance coincided with the update to version 27, but now I believe the root cause to be a recent Microsoft update. The reason for that is that my wife has a laptop with an even lower-end APU (C60 APU, 5400rpm hard drive, 4GB RAM, Win 7 x64), and she was getting much better performance with FF27 until I applied a backlog of some 90+ updates. Now she's suffering from the same poor performance I am and she's pretty p*ssed at me.
Interestingly, I have two WIn 7 x64 Intel desktops that also have FF 27 and are fully patched, and the performance is just fine. Perhaps this problem is specific to AMD APUs.
Any thoughts? I've tried turning off the Azure backend per some comments in this forum, but that made little or no difference.

Disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall during the download and update usually resolves the timeout error.

If the Office updates have to be run through Win in Parallels, there's not really a section here that covers that , because Neither Office or Parallels are Apple products. There is only a small chance that you'll find someone with BOTH your conditions who just happend to look into a forum on older iMacs.

Camera Raw in CS4. I have applied the Camera Raw 5.7 update to my CS4 Photoshop. It works fine in Photoshop, but only shows the NEF icon from my DS3 files in Bridge. Any ideas would be gratefully received. Many thanks.

I have installed Photoshop CS4 on a new PC as my other has all but died. I applied the Camera Raw 5.7 update for CS4 to take care of the NEF files from my Nikon D3S. This works fine when opening NEF file, but in Bridge it only shows the NEF icon.

Purge the cache for the offending folder(s) through the Tools menu in Bridge.

Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library' and start.

Error Message after updating Windows XP on the Microsoft Update site

I have just taken delivery of a Satellite Pro A120 and updated the windows XP components on the Microsoft Update site, when the system rebooted to make the changes it developed an error message during the final stages of the bootup relating to the Realtek user.dll.
Basically it said that the user32.dll had been written to memory because the location it was stored in was reserved for windows components. The file in question being c:windows\system32\hhctrl.ocx, this caused some components of the sound system to not work.
It advises me to comtact realtek for a new dll? The latest drive on the Toshiba download site is older than the one installed. Any suggestion please.

Whats the best way to apply office updates during OSD task sequence with Software Update Agent disabled?

I am trying to update office via the SCCM 2012 R2 OSD task sequence. I know offline updating only updates the core components in the WIM and I'm trying to figure out how to add office updates as well. I am aware of using powershell to try and kick off
a WU scan as seen here:

But the kicker is we don't use SCCM to update the workstations (Solo WSUS install). Is there a way to do this (maybe set the client in the TS to switch on SUP, then off again when it goes off into production) rather than have to build a new image every month?

How does it work?
The task sequence steps run a script called ZTIWindowsUpdate.wsf. The script uses the
Windows Update Agent API to manage the downloading and installation of updates. All audit information is written to the
ZTIWindowsUpdate.log file. If you find any unusual error codes in your log returned from the API (although I never have) you can compare the codes
here. The script will also check and update the
Windows Update Agent(WUA) as needed at the start.
In its default state, the ZTIWindowsUpdate.wsf script will connect to Microsoft Update then search for and download all available updates including Security Patches, Drivers, Browser Updates and Service Packs. This is essentially the same
as opening the GUI and selecting check for updates.
