The Verizon iPhone (In My Eyes)

As a previous owner of the iPhone 3G on AT&T's wireless network, I am no stranger to the iPhone. After an abundance of lost calls, and less than satisfying customer service with AT&T, I decided it was time to make the switch to Verizon. I made the switch in December of '09 and when I purchased the Blackberry Storm2 I was almost regretting my decision. The Blackberry Storm2 was a phone full of reboots, freezing and hangups that it gave me numerous amounts of headaches. After a year of the Storm2 experience, I decided to purchase the Blackberry Bold 9650. The Bold is a great Blackberry. At the end of the day though, a Blackberry is a Blackberry. I think Blackberry mobile phones are great for those who want more in-depth e-mail options. Me personally, I want the whole experience.
"Is the iPhone coming to Verizon?" This was probably one of the most asked questions in 2010. More intense speculation of the iPhone joining another network happened last year when AT&T customers were given upgrades when they were not due for one, and were locked into a 2-year contract with a hefty ETF. Finally in January it was confirmed by Apple's Tim Cook and Verizon's Lowell McAdam that Verizon's 93 million customers would be getting the opportunity to purchase the iPhone. When I heard this news, I was a happy camper. I jumped for joy, I don't know how many times. In my opinion the iPhone is the world's best phone.
On January 7th I opened my nifty little package from Fort Worth, Texas with as much excitement as a child on Christmas day. After using it for a full day today, I know that I made the right decision to switch to Verizon in 2009. The iPhone runs beautifully on Verizon's CDMA network, despite the somewhat negative reviews. Some critics were advising customers not to purchase the iPhone because simultaneous data and voice were not an option. After using the iPhone on both AT&T and Verizon I can truly say that while AT&T offers simultaneous data and voice, you cannot even notice that the iPhone can perform these things with dropped calls and such.
I love my iPhone 4 on Verizon and I know that I am NEVER going back.
Thank you Verizon!

  • PLZ PLZ ANYBODY were is the verizon iphone 4 wifi antenna (as in which one of the black little marks)

I need help knowing this for my iphone drops the wifi and knowing were the antenna is could help thx :)

To be honest, When the verizon iphone first came out, I thought it would be the most talked about event in the tech world but the further we get, the more we see how far back the verizon iphone really is.  I cancelled my att contract early, paid 375 dollars to do so and what do I get in return? an os that is sub standard and data that moves slower than my pet turtle, nick.
Why are we not recieving the latest and greatest features to iOS? why do we still not have the nitro safari browser? and why can I test drive iCloud beta with all my other iOS and mac osx devices except for my verizon iphone? Yes, it's not entirely verizon's fault but as america's largest network, you would think vzn would take some kind of action to help bring it's customers what they deserve and are paying for.  ANY WHY DOES MY FRIEND WHO HAS AN ANDROID(GOD, I HATE THAT STUPID GREEN CHARACTER) GET TWICE THE DATA SPEEDS AS ME WHEN HE'S ALSO ON VERIZON??? I feel my data usage is being throttled. And if that's true, verizon  should really allow us out of our contracts without fee because I was not advised my data, which is already slow to start, would be slowed down even further because the carrier is worried their network might overload. This is how vzn handles avoiding ATT's woes? not by having a better network that can handle heavy volume? WOW WAS I MISLED. I can't believe im saying this but att is looking better and better everyday. Not to mention their new unlimited any mobile plan that could save me alot of money every month.
At least, apple or vzn should issue a statement of some sort so their customers at least know what to expect in the near future regarding features and updates.

  • Is there any difference between the Verizon iPhone 4s and the AT

I'm looking online at iPhone cases, and one is a "tough" case, meaning it has an inner silicone shell and a separate outer hard shell. But it claims it will not fit the Verizon iPhone 4s, but it will fit the AT&T iPhone 4s. Is there really anything different between the two?

The  only difference is who you're giving your money to.
If you are ordering a "tough case" from case-mate .com, which is what it sounds like, it will fit any 4s. It's just that they have them separated into different categories at the top so you have to specify which one you have to basically filter out the 3gs and other phone cases that wont fit yours. Any case that fits the AT&T iphone 4s will fit the verizon one.
In my opinion though, you're much better off not getting a case mate case. I've gone through three of them in the last 8 months or so (I had an iPhone 4, and recently got a 4s but still used the same case)
they are nice when you first get them, but the paint chips off, they scratch the steel band around your, and are made out of really cheap plastic and rubber and it shows. You're better off getting something like the otterbox commuter case (what im currently using and LOVE it) if youre set on having that inner rubber layer of protection.

  • Many people are saying the verizon iphone comes unlocked

    is this true?

Accually I went out and bought the verizon iPhone full price, works like a charm on Tmobile!

  • HT4528 Does any model of the Verizon iPhone work in Europe?

Does any model of the Verizon iPhone work in Europe?

My experience with their custome service has generally been good and the answers generally accurate. I know that they did change the requirement that phone roam on CDMA, if available. Apple added a switch to turn that off in 5.1. I don't know if that counts as "changing their story" or simply deciding it made for fewer unhappy customers.
The nice man in Global Support gave me a couple of disclaimers (only one unlock per number per year and Verizon would not be responsible for any customer/technical support while I was using a different SIM). The whole process was quick and painless.

  • Home Share for the Verizon iPhone 4

When will the Verizon iPhone 4 have this feature it has been 2 months since 4.3 was released for the ATT iPhone 4 and they received the mobile hotspot support we had early on but Apple failed to give us homeshare?

Are you connected to the same wifi network as the computer you want to home share with?
Have you gone under settings-iPod-home sharing and put in the apple id?
Have you gone into iTunes and turned on home sharing in iTunes?

  • Will the verizon iphone get ios 5

since the verizon iphone is still behind on the ios which it has 4.2.8 instead of 4.3 will the verizon iphone get ios 5 while skipping 4.3 or will we get 4.3 while att gets ios 5

Don't hold your breath.  Let's face it... the Verizon iPhone is 2nd rate to the AT&T one.  Probably always will be one build behind... Heck,  based on what's happened so far and the cold shoulder that Apple gave it at the WWDC, I'm staring to think that Verizon won't even carry it any longer.  ("We have plenty of other options"... says Verizon.)
Ok, seriously though, if Verizon doesn't get iOS 5 with the rest of the country in the fall, a good chunk of the some 2.5 million Verizon iPhone users will either move back to AT&T or just give up on Verizon and join up with AT&T.  (myself being one of them.)  This is getting a bit ridiculous.  AND... iOS 4.3 contains MANY features and enhancements that we Verizon users STILL don't have.  Look it up if you have any doubts.  I'm sick of people saying that iOS 4.2.8 and iOS 4.3.3 are basically the same.  DUH... if they were the same they'd have the same build number.  Again people should look it up, before spreading propaganda.
And finally... based on everything that I've read, it does appear that Verizon will get iOS 5 at the same time as AT&T.  (There apparently is a beta out there for the CDMA iPhone of which developers can get.)  BUT, I'll believe it when I see it.

  • Will the verizon iphone 5 work on any carrier worldwide

I want to buy the verizon iphone 5 from USA but use it in Egypt, will it work?

Once unlocked, it will work with any GSM carrier.
It will also work on any carriers LTE network that supports the bands the device is designed for.
Keep in mind there are no officially unlocked devices sold in the US.
Also, warranty and support are only valid in the country of origin.

  • HT1349 will the,Verizon, iPhone 4S be up-gradable to 4G?

Will the, Verizon supplied, iPhone 4S be upgradable to 4G capabilities.

No iPhone is upgradable at all. Software can not provide hardware functions that do not exist. The AT&T iPhone 4S was not 'upgraded' to a 4G phone. Only the indicator changed to bring it in line with the rest of the HSPA+ capable phones in the US market. The ITU defines HSPA+ as "4G". Verizon does not have an HSPA+ capable network.

  • I have the Verizon iPhone in hand! - need advice

I'm not going to lie. I'm not an Apple guy, in fact I've always been a diehard msft person. Until I had the opportunity to beta test the iPhone for Verizon (i've had it a few days now). I'm in love - already planning on getting an iPad to complement it.
First things first, where I as a recent convert need your advice:
    1. What's the best protective iPhone case?
    2. What other "must have" accessories to the iPhone would experienced users highly recommend?
    3. What are "must have" apps? I've got fb and tw so far. What do you guys use the most?
I understand I could probably answer these questions from searching through the forum for a bit, however with the flood of verizon users surely to come, this post may prove to be a good starting point for all newbie's like myself.
    Hubie

Shazam apparently now only allows you to "tag" 5 songs per month in the free version. Try SoundHound instead, which is free and works quite well in my testing. It has not failed to identify one song, no matter how obscure or poorly-sung (or even hummed!), in my limited testing since I got my phone yesterday.
BTW, Hubie, welcome to the Apple world!

  • Will the silicone Kate Spade new york case fit the verizon iphone 4?

I am trying to buy a silicone case for my iphone 4, my carrier is Verizon.  I am curious if the Kate Spade new york case for iPhone 4 (UPC 743870019870) will work because it has silicone over the side buttons.  Some sites say it's only made for ATT, but the apple site does not specify.  Thanks!

they are the same exact phone.

  • HT5012 Where could i locate the Verizon IPhone 4 sim card slot

Can anyone help me locate the sim card slot on a iphone 4 from Verizon Wireless

There isn't one. It's a CDMA only phone. It can only work on Verizon's 3G network.

  • Will I be able to insert a GSM Sim card in the Verizon iPhone 5 when I travel abroad?

I am planning on buying the CDMA version of the iPhone 5 with Verizon. Is this a "world phone" that can be used with a different carrier (GSM) when I travel abroad?

I can confirm you can purchase PAYG sims ,(no contract at all ) in UK from all UK carriers
You load cash into it and just use , obviously with a telephone number allocated by the relevant carrier
Whether it works with a Sprint iPhone cannot confirm as it will be CDMA and we are 100% GSM in Europe
One of the US responders will advise you

  • HT5554 What is the service center number for the verizon iphone 4?

I need to know it so I get my sms working. It should just be *#5995*7627#

Why not contact Verizon directly rather than asking on a user to user forum where nobody is likely to know?!!

  • When is the next update for the Verizon iPhone?

    Just wondering if anyone knows.

Nobody here would know, we are all users like you.
We do know that iOS 5 will be out this fall.
