This has me stumped. Data fork-36

I have been trying to figure this out for a while. All I want to do is copy a DVD that was burned on a Panasonic DMR-T3040. I am using Toast 10 to make the copy. Every time I try to copy the disc ( or make a disc image ) I get the following window... the file VTS011. VOB could not be accessed ( Data Fork) -36 I hit OK then another window appears... Couldn't complete the last command because there was an I/O error ( Disc could be copy protected) Result Core=-36. This disc is not copy protected, I created it myself. I took the disc to a friend of mine who made a copy on a stand alone machine with no problem. Any ideas? Any way around this? Any help will be appreciated.

Their is something about the structure of your dvd toast is not liking. I have experienced this before with toast and home produced DVDs.
Try using DVD2onex it should rewrite or restructure the dvd. Just copy the Video_ts folder to your desktop. then have DVD2onex have a go at it.
You can also try dragon burn which is similar to toast.

I'm savvy, but this has me stumped...

Ok, here's the problem:
I got this laptop - and it had a 40 GB hard drive. I filled it up pretty quick, so I upgraded to a 100GB hard drive.
My music and iTunes worked perfectly on the 40GB hard drive.
Before making the switch to the new hard drive, I backed up all of my music (which were CD's that I ripped in .m4a format using iTunes) onto an external hard drive.
I installed the new hard drive, put my music onto the new hard drive, and installed iTunes.
Now, I can't play my music on the new hard drive or load them into the library of iTunes. The files are present, the properties say they take up the same amount of space - but when I try to load the files into iTunes, nothing happens.
...any ideas on how I might be able to access my music?
The only thing I've tried to do is re-install iTunes, to no prevail.

There are no security features on tracks you rip from CDs. So that's not an issue.
You may have a problem with the permissions on the My Music folder or with the permissions on the tracks. Did you copy an entire iTunes folder, with the preference files and all? If you did, you might try dragging out the pref files (the .ilt and .xml files) and letting iTunes recreate them and see if that help. Also check the security on the iTunes folder and the folders within it and make sure you have appropriate read and write privileges.

If you don't have a cellular data plan, then why are you expecting that you will have an active internet connection unless you are connected to wi-fi?
iMessages require either wi-fi or a cellular data connection.

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.

Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

It's gone and you most likely are not getting it back.
If you had important info on it, you should have made backups so you would not lose the data.

Podcast app still downloads on mobile data when settings say it shouldn't. This has cost me money due to data allowance. Any idea how I can stop this?

This has happened a few times now. It always seems to happen at the start of the month as well so I can not use mobile data for the rest of the month.

This happened to me, too. I found that the new Podcast app goes wild. The iPad was in the computer case all day and ate up 5GB of data, and that was on ATT 3G. Battery power was down to 60% and the iPad was warm. Anyway, I opened "Settings" and scrolled down to and opened "Podcast". There I found a switch to turn off the cellular data for Podcast downloads. Evidently the default setting by Apple is ON... Oh well. I hope that this kills that problem.

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPad shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). Ignore the "Slide to power off"

Mail 3.1 - all older e-mails has the wrong date - how can i change this?

all e-mails in my Mail 3.1 that are older than May 23 2006 has not got the right date any more. Most has the date of May 23 2006 but some has older dates again. Anyway there is something wrong and I cannot find amongst my old e-mails anymore, as they as not sorted by date because they all have the same date now. Has anyone any ideas how to change this? In my IMAP account the old mails all have the correct dates still...

if you have no back up in icloud or itunes the best you can do is sync with your computer and get back what you can from there

Data Sheet View - Cannot Connect to Server at This Time. You can continue working with this list, but some data may not be available

After a couple of years of trouble free operation, one of the lists in our SharePoint Foundation site suddenly (overnight) started presenting the error against Datasheet views on lists.
The view returns a large number of items when working correctly c.6K - however Throttling Settings have been adjusted accordingly some time ago without detrimental affect on SharePoint users and network in general. As admin and therefore throttling at 20k
items the error message still presents.
The view was working fine at 4:30pm Wednesday 27/3, but was returning the error at 8:30am the next morning. To my knowledge very few items (if any) had been added to the list between those times and no system level changes had been made (SharePoint,
SQL Express, or virtual Windows 2008R2 server).
The problem is most apparent on 2 lists in SharePoint. I've checked that the settings within SharePoint admin are set to deal with queries that should accommodate the
number of rows that are returned by the views associated with that list. It is still possible to create new items to the list and access data via 'standard views' that are presented with groups that are collapsed.
Items in Documents Libraries on other parts of SharePoint and within the same subsite can be accessed at what feels like pretty normal speed -though small query size
may mean the problem is masked to a large extent.
More Specific
The lists still open in Standard View -though much more slowly than was the case before the above error started to present.
List Details
Referrals Tracker (10,442 items) -the list was 10,420 something items on Wednesday when all was working fine.
LD Tracker (4,390 items)
Both lists have grown incrementally over the period of a couple of years rather than by adding a block of data to the list. Items are added/ updated one at a time using the associated
form or directly into cells within a datasheet view.
That it is also experienced against the smaller list suggests to me that the number of items in the Referrals Tracker is not the main factor here.
In attempting to resolve the issue I have managed to get datasheet views working that deliver 100 items and c2k items. Both views present much more slowly than we would normally expect.
Throttling Settings
List view limit - 12K items - has been this high for some time without damaging SharePoint performance across the company.
Actions Taken So Far (no improved performance seen)
The SharePoint Foundation WSS Content DB did was closer to the 10GB SQL Express limit earlier this month, however a clear down and rationalisation of versioning settings
was undertaken to ensure that did not become a problem going forward.
We did a Shrink on Thursday (the day the issue started presenting) to rationalise whitespace as all indicators were that this was where the problem may lie, but this has
not resolved the problem.
The WSS Content DB now sits at c5.5GB.
What I Need to Know
1) I'd like to understand what is causing the problem?
2) What the fix is? or,
3) How I might go about diagnosing the problem further to arrive at a fix.
With all the above, I'm part wondering if the problem is related to the virtual server or poss SQL Express related rather than being a 100% SharePoint issue?

More often this is related to columns which are not editable by user, some columns are not editable in datasheet view. Please check if there is any new column addition and then you started getting this issue.
Also datasheet view displays all items on same page so definitely it takes little long time then load in standard view.

I have an iPhone 4 and tried to update to iOS6 but received an error message when trying to restore. The phone is no longer recognised on iTunes (using my Windows PC). I have reinstalled iTunes but this has not worked. What can I do??

I have followed the instructions on the apple support pages and still cannot get my phone to work. It continues to show the iTunes USB picture and is not recognised on my iTunes on the windows PC. When I connect the phone to my iMac it shows no data and says I can restore to factory setting. However if I do this will all my data be erased? How do I get my phone and data back? I have saved most of the photos that were on the phone but all my contact details and messages are stored and I really need to get them back! Would have limited memory on the phone when trying to update caused this problem?

Yes it would, possibly even brick it.
Have successfully connected my ipod nano with iTunes so looks like the device driver is working.
Can I use my ipod nano USB connector to check?
It is not much help to you, since the device that you need still not recognized.
Anyway looks like I may have to swallow the loss of data. Have set-up a call for tomorrow with Apple support so will wait until after this before doing the factory restore!

Sharepoint list dataheet view error "Cannot connect to the server at this time. You can continue working with this list, but some data may not be available"

I have a List which is having around 14000 items in it.while opening that list in datasheet view it is giving error .
Below is a summary of the issue:
After selecting datasheet view beow error occurs:
    "Cannot connect to the server at this time. You can continue working with this list, but some data may not be available."
    "Unable to retrieve all data."
    The item counts displays say 100 out of 14000 items.
Exporting List to excel is giving only 2000 records out of 14000 records.
Other Observations   -
This is happening to only one list on the site .There are other lists in the site whose no. of records is equal to 8000 to 9000.They are working absolutely fine without any error.
Also, If I am saving this list as a template and creating another list with it ,then it is working absolutely fine with 14000 records,so the issue does not seem to be related with no. of records as the template list is working fine.
I have checked the Alternate access mapping setting ,its fine.
It should not be related to lookup,datefield or any other column as the list created from it template is working fine with all these columns.
I checked below links also ,but doesn't seem to work in my case.

I have spent two days to resolve this issue. Microsoft has released two KBs with reference to this issue...but are not appearing in search results at the top.
I am sharing my finding.
1. First install the
KB2552989 (Hopefully you might have already installed it. The KB detetcts it and informs the user.)
2. Then update registry by adding new key for data fetch timeout as mentioned inKB2553007
These two steps resolved the issue in our environment. Hope it might help others as well.

For four days I have been unable to open a lot of documents. When I try I get a message "The document "name" could not be opened. You don't have permission. This has happened to an important letter which I corrected four times. My Mac has altered the name

This problem began when I typed in an address http www etc., making one mistake in the address. I corrected it and then tried to copy the address because it was long (I wanted to be able to acces it another time), and that's when the trouble starrted. I just copt documents to get a new one because it's quicker, but it is unorthodox, I know. Since then whenever I copy a document i cannot open it, and it often puts a gobledegook ending to the document name. I've started emailing texts to myself so as to keep them, but I MUST be able to use documents normally. I hava a MacBook Pro, using OS Mountain Lion 10.8.5. I don't like it. It's fairly new, and has messed up my system of documents : the size is alll wrong and the tabulations are worse than ever. I use text edit because I wanted to use Macdictate because I am handicapped (arthritis and firbomyalgia) but I have never been able to get it to work. Since I changed OS I cannot use Text edit properly any more. Please help me. I think it must be a bug that came through when I was putting this address in four days ago. I went to the site once I'd corrected the address and it was perfectly normal. I shall ring them today and ask them if this has happened to anyone else. I live in France. Thank you for your advice. Because I am handicapped and I do not dirve, it is very difficult to get to a Mac store. I deleted Mac cloud documents because I don't want to use it and I thought it might solve the problem, but it didn"t.

Back up all data.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, they may not work as described.
Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Triple-click anywhere in the following line on this page to select it. Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
