How to get current web container active threads count,and how to get the max web container thread count ,in weblogic

Hello Slava,
The output you see when running to web from Reports Builder is controlled by the web source of your report. Please take a look at your web source and confirm whether that the reports JSP tags are indeed present to fetch the data and format the web output.
Also, note that if you want to deploy your report using its web layout, you would need to save it as a JSP, as only JSPs can be deployed directly over the web.
RDF files can be run over the web only using rwservlet, and doing so will cause the output to be formatted using the report's paper layout instead of it's web layout.

That's what I said, it is not at all advisable but if you know what you
are doing it can work just fine.
The biggest issue is migration since the behavior is not defined in the
spec and thus all vendors can implement it differently and it can change
from version to version, which in turn defeats the J2EE portability
advantage.
That is why I highly recommended using JMX timers since it is going to
be available on all J2EE servers and then the only vendor dependent
thing is to get the MBeanServer.

How to run a report out of the web container?

Hi All,

Does anyone have tips on running a report outside of the web container? I'd like to be able to JUnit the scenarios I'm coding up without having an app server running. What is the ReportClientDocument expecting in the request, response, and context? The code as shown just returns the enclosed error.

All I'm really trying to do is have the report execute and be able to assert that the data is appropriately retrieved from the data source. If there's a way to do that without the Viewer, that would be cool, too.

Any tips would be much appreciated. Sorry about the poorly formatted code and error... the code tags don't seem to be working...

There's no documentation as to what's the minimum HTTPServletContext, HTTPServletRequest and HTTPServletResponse the CrystalReportViewer expects.
There certainly are plenty of unit testing frameworks for Java Web Apps out there, if that's where you're headed.

Configuration of Thread Pool for CQ's Web Container

I am trying to detrmine whether there is any specific configuration for tuning the web container thread pool for CQ. The only configuration I observe is OSGi 's Apache Sling Event Thread Pool but tuning this does not directly correlate to the thread pool that is used for serving web requests by the publish instance.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I work through tuning our CQ instance.

Unfortunately, the max thread settings is not exposed in CQ 5.5.However, all the other configurable settings (equivalent for server.xml) can be seen at [1]

Thread pool in servlet container

Hello all,
I'm working on this webapp that has some bad response times and I've identified an area were we could shave off a considerable amount of time. The app is invoking a component that causes data to be catched for subsequently targeted apps in the environemnt. Our app does not need to wait for a response so I'd like to make this an asyncronous call. So, how best to implement this?...I considered JMS, but started working on a solution using the Java 1.4 backport of JSR 166 (java.util.concurrent).
I've been testing the use of a ThreadPoolExecutor, using an ArrayBlockingQueue. The work that each Runnable will perform involves a lot of waiting (the component we call invokes a web service, among a couple other distributed calls). So I figure the pool will be much larger than the queue. Our container has 35 execute threads, so I've been testing with a thread pool size of 25, and a queue of 10.
Any thoughts on this approach? I understand that some of this work could be simplified by JMS, but if I don't need to be tied to the container, I'd prefer not to. The code if much easier to unit test, and plays nicely with our continious build integration (which runs our junit test for us and notifies on errors).

Well, if it works, that's by far the best way to go - but note that creating threads in a servlet container means those threads are outside of the container's control. Many containers will refuse to give the new threads access to the JNDI context, even, and some may prevent you from creating threads at all.

Error restarting/shutting down/starting TomCat web container

Hi guys,
I'm new to TomCat.
I'm currently using TomCat4.1 with J2SDK1.4, J2SDKEE1.3.1 and jakarta-ant-1.5.
I am having trouble stopping or restarting the web container.
i.e. when I run shutdown.bat in %TOMCAT_HOME%/bin/shutdown.bat I have this error:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: 4/1"
And I've search in vain to target the problem area.

Running the Web Crawler with a new plugin (sample HTMLMetatagFilter)

These are the steps that I perform:
1. Open the sample plugin project with Eclipse
2. Build the sample plugin from Eclipse

5. Run the Web Crawler with a new plugin (sample plugin from the guide called HTMLMetatagFilter)

I do not understand why this error appears and why there is a problem with version?? How can I make this sample work?
Note: this is my configuration system:
* OEID 3.1
* IAS installed with Jetty
* Windows 7 x64
* Any server running (endeca_server_domain, endeca_studio_domain, endeca_ps_domain)
* Endeca IAS service running

I'm using Java 6 update 43 for all Endeca 3.1 products, because is the recomended version to use. I did an installation with Java 7u45 in other machine and Endeca did not works well. (https://forums.oracle.com/thread/2607872)
But I know when is installed the Integrator, it has integrated Java 7. And I think when I generate the .jar file from the Integrator, it has data with Java 7, so, when I run the Web Crawler with this plugin from the command prompt of Windows, the crawler Installation works with Java 6 (which I already installed).
So, what should I do if all endeca 3.1 (except Integrator) has to work with java 6u43 and the Integrator generates files with java 7?

Error when trying to run an application containing an intercative form

Hello,
I have installed WebAS 6.40 with ADS and ACF and there were no errors during the installation.
Now I'm trying to build a view with an Interactive Form UIElement. I designed the form and now I'm trying to run the Web Dynpro Application. There are no Errors during the Deployments but when IE opens it shows following error message.
seems to be something wrong with the binding of the form to the context? but I dont know how to fix this problem...
any ideas?

there is one property calles cardinality (value is 0..n) and another one called selection (value is 0..1) but I cannot edit these values
In the meantime I found out that I forgot to do some of the post-installation-configuring. I fixed it and I hoped this would have solved my problem...but it didn't.

Can I redirect to a completely different web container?

Hi all
How can I redirect from a Servlet to a completely different web container. For example let's say I have MyServlet running on machine A, and according to a parameter in the request, I would like to redirect to host B (to another location).
I tried to use RequestDispatcher.forward, but it uses a relative location (even if I added the absolute URL, like http://hostb:port/new_location).
Can I redirect to another container?

Do you need to send the data to the second site as well? That's where you will run into problems.

Getting the MDX query select error when running a webi report on BI query

Getting the following error when running a webi report on BI query :
A database error occured. The database error text is: The MDX query SELECT { [Measures].[D8JBFK099LLUVNLO7JY49FJKU] } ON COLUMNS , NON EMPTY [ZCOMPCODE].[LEVEL01].MEMBERS ON ROWS FROM [ZTEST_CUB/REP_20100723200521] failed to execute with the error Unknown error. (WIS 10901).
I have gone through many threads related to this error. But not able find the steps to follow for resoultion.
Please help in this regard.

Error while running Java Web Start in JDK 1.5

I have been running an application using Jboss3.2 in JDK1.4.2_09. The Java Web Start application ran perfectly then.
Now, I am running Jboss3.2 with JDK 1.5.0_11. While some applications (HTML client and some Java Web Start applications are working correctly) are working correctly, this particular Java Web Start application fails.

You appear to be using a 1.4.x program on a file belonging to 1.5. Check your path variable, it's probably the cause.

I am getting this error when trying to install bobj xi 3.1 client version. the service pack is zero.
however, i previously had bobj xi 3.1 server / client components installed and bobj 4.0 client tools.
i uninstalled bobj 4 and bobj xi 3.1 server components from control panel. also, deleted them from registry.
still i am getting the above error.

Possible to deploy Dist Auth in the same web container with Policy Agent?

I have a client who has limited hardware resources and wants to deploy the distributed authentication UI in the same web container as the policy agent. Has anyone successfully done this?

I'm sure it's possible just make sure the DAUI context (e.g. /distAuth) in the agent's configuration for the web server is in the not enforced list properties for the agent.
However, it's so easy just to put an Apache HTTP server/tomcat and run daui, then setup another web server (Sun, Apache, etc.) with an agent or vice versa and you don't have to worry about the agent clobbering DAUI.

I realy wonder from where I got "myfaces" is it only for apache tomcat ?! cuz I use Sun JSF implementation.

There is something important I also noticed. When I opened the folder where tomcat resides; there was NOT the commons folder !!! isn't that strange. I reinstall Tomcat but still cann't find the commons folder, other folders like lib,webapps,conf,logs are there !! is it ok with tomcat 6 ? did I downlaod a wrong one ?? ( I downloaded it from tomcat.apache.org/download-60.cgi)
As an attempt, I downloaded the latest jar that includes the class org.apache.commons.el.Logger , but nothing changed !

A thread running in the server

Hey ho, didn't know where else to post this...
I'm running Orion web server with mySQL. What I need is a thread, that would perform certain tasks hourly.
Any tips how to do this ? I don't have any clue.
