Three Way Video Problem

My mom sends a video invite to my sister from her iMac to her MacBook. Then my mom sends me an invite. On their Mac's iChat enters a three way chat where on my MacBook Pro all I see is myself and I can only hear them. If I have my mom start a two way video chat, I can then see her.

Assuming each of you has his/her QuickTime Streaming Speed set correctly, the problem is probably insufficient bandwidth on your mother's end and possibly on your end as well.

    It depends on...
    Are they all using iChat 3
    Do they have an Internet connection in excess of 384kbps both up and down ?
    (there are some variants if the download is quicker that will allow you to have 256K up)
    Do they have a Mac over a G4/1Ghz single processor
    Is the one to be the Host a G4/1Gz Dual or greater ?
    If they all fill this criteria and one does not show stacked icons then it needs some maintenance.
    They should make sure the System Preferences > Quicktime > Streaming tab is set to 1.5Mbps
    They should run the Cron scripts if they are not sure

  • Three way video chat

    I have v. 3.1.8 and am on a Macbook pro. I start a video chat with another macbook pro and try to bring a G4 into the conversation but I keep getting the "There is already another conference active" message. From what I remember, you just need to intel machines to make this work - am I wrong in thinking that? Even still, sometimes it seems like regardless of the computer configurations, three way chats sometimes will just give that message anyway. Is there something else that I may be doing to screw this up? Thanks in advance.

  • 3 way video problem....

    When I am invited to video chat by #1 on my macbook ichat works works great, then when the person who invited me is inviting a second user (#2) I can see my ichat window opening up for a 3 way, still see the original screen with #1 but on the other pane I have a message saying that #1 invited #2 and that's it, no video of #2?????
    Is there something I need to do to see #2 or should it be automatic?

    It's probably a bandwidth issue. It seems to happen when the third party to the conference has an Intel Mac and the host has an upstream connection speed that is too low.
    It may be a programming problem, but the interim solution is for the host to increase her bandwidth.

  • N95-1 three way calling problem

    I had 3 way calling feature before firmware update. After update . I can no loger be able to use that. (eg. while talking with a friend, if I dial the 3rd person, I can join the 2lines by pressing the green call button). After update, pressing call button doesn't join the 2 calls any more. It puts on hold the first call. If I press the call button again, it puts the 2nd person on hold and vice versa.Three of us can never be able to talk to each other at the same time as I used to. I updated the FW again no diffrence. My conference call works. I activated my call waiting. called my network operater and confirmed with them that my call waiting feature still actived. can any one help me?

    I'm due to have a video conference in a few days and I suddenly realized that one of us has a PC and two of us have iMacs. If the PC user were to get AIM, would it be possible for her to communicate with the two of us and can the two of us communicate with and see her? We live in 3 separate areas so we will be using three separate computers. If it is possible to do this, what do we all need to do? Also, I have iChat 5.0 and the other iMac user has whatever came with Tiger. I have done three way video conferences before without a problem but we've all had iChat. Thanks in advance.

  • Three way calling..... Problems....!!!

    The problem is when you merge 2 parties into one; it is either you hear nothing at all from both parties, or you only can talk to 1 person putting the other person on hold. Simply, "merge" just does not work.
    I called at&t 10 times to find a solution, still no go.
    Talking to a service representatives did not help much. What they do is that they just remove 3 way call feature and put it back on to your account from their at&t system, or they suggest power cycle the phone, or call apple.(duh!) At times, it worked momentarily then voila, the same problem continues.
    Then I talked to a tech support, I do not know what it is called but the tech disconnected my iPhone 3g from the network and reconnected it. She said this process is different from partial remove/add features that customer support rep did, it was rather total reset from the network.
    Right after the talk with tech support, I was able to connect & merge 3 people (my friends) together that I could not before. Next day, I tried three way calling for the same 3 people but it did not work ever since.
    I test called three way call today, calling 611 and Apple iPhone support number 800-694-7400, and it works! However, problem still exists when I try to connect my friends, the same 3 people mentioned above. What gives?
    Does the problem have something to do with my friends' carriers? One has T-mo, the other one has Helio, and the third has vonage VOIP home service.
    Please let me know.

    I have iChat 3.1.5 and am having trouble connecting with my friend for a one-way video chat (she doesn't have a camera).
    When I invite her she doesn't see anything on her screen.
    she is an AOL subscriber on a PC using AIM.
    Please help.

    If I recall correctly, one way video chats are only compatable with other Mac users. (As Audio only chats are also only available to Mac users)

  • Video Problem: A & B connect, B & C connect BUT C & A can NOT connect

    While trying to debug the connection between A & C we discovered that A and C can both make video connections to B but not with each other. What might cause this problem? A & B are both MacBook Pros C is an old 12' iBook. While we like to do 3 ways and have in the past with these three locations, now we're simply trying to re-establish two way video links and find that A & C are unable to connect. The connection fails with error -7.

    As far as I know, Zyxel DSL modem has a NAT. You can check some online forum post to see how to turn off the NAT.
    At the same time, you can post some logs here by start iChat in terminal using the following command:
    /Applications/iChat.app/Contents/MacOS/iChat -errorLogLevel 7
    and look for something similar to the following and paste it here.

  • CS6 Three-Way CC not importing setting from CS5.5 Timelines or from Saved Presets from CS.5.5

    Hello,
    I had created two presets for the CS5.5 Three Way Color Corrector that I use in almost every project for dealing with sun shadows and hightlights on talents's skin and they no longer work in CS6.  I've tried loading the old project/timeline/sequence into Premiere CS6 but the TWCC just acts like it is at default settings. No changes to the video at all. 
    I also had saved my two TWCC settings as presets (from CS5.5) to the hard drive to I would not loose them.  I tried reloading those presets into CS6 but same problem.. they do nothing now.   I guess no one checked to see that the new CS6 TWCC was backwards compatible with CS5.5.   Major problem when loading / converting cs5.5 timelines to update client's projects.   Adobe, please take a look at this and fix as soon as you can.  Thanks!  Wayland

    I've spent the better part of the day trying to redo what I had before and frankly the new TWCC sucks!  The previous one was sooo much better.  I can't even get close to what I had before. Many of the controls show up when you select 'show' but have little or no effect on the real video.  I wish I could just delete the current one and replace it with the old one.  If I still had CS5.5 I'd try that.  Not happy at all.  I'll be up all night trying to catch up due to time wasted on this stupid redesign of the TWCC as I have a ton of work due tomorrow.

  • Audio drops when using Three-Way Color Corrector in CS6

    Hello all,
    I recently encountered a very odd issue while editing a friends wedding video using Adobe Premiere Pro CS6.  I had an interview with a guest laid over a music track and had all the audio adjustments made to both audio tracks so that the levels were where I wanted them.  I then added the Three-Way Color Corrector to the video track and corrected the footage to my liking.  When I played back this section of the wedding video, half way through the person's interview, his audio cut out.  The audio from the music track was still playing, so it was not that audio drop that most people are familiar with within Premiere.  I even muted the music track and played back the mentioned section of video and at the same exact point in time his audio just cuts out completely.  I checked to see if any weird key frames had been added and nothing had been touched (that I could see).  Also, the audio waveforms were still visible.  I deleted the Three-Way Color Corrector effect off of the clip and suddenly there were no more audio problems.  Eventually, needing color correction, I added an adjustment layer and assigned the Three-Way Color Corrector to that and had no issues, but I still don't see what could have been the problem, and it seems like a glitch to me.  Has anyone ever had this happen to them?  If so, what are your thoughts?  Thanks!

  • U350 strange sound/video problem

    Hi All,
     two days ago I bought U350 model and unfortunately I already have problems... Today I played a video and I noticed that sometimes it stops the video and audio for a couple of seconds and then continue. More rarely the sound just stops and returns only if I re-open the file. I also noticed that the computer very often loses sound when I am moving it( gently pushing that bottom right part - near the battery - around 80% of the cases).
    Today my winamp crashed and made some horrible sound. No Ctrl-Alt-Del worked. I had to kill it by the Power button. I guess that this is hardware problem but I am not sure that I can reproduce it correctly in a service Can anyone help me explain what's the problem/solution so I can get it fixed? It has 2 year warranty..

    Hi,
    I made a clear windows installation and updated the video/audio drivers.
    The results pretty much surprised me. I tried to play one at the same movie with 4 players -  Windows media player, Windows player classic, VLC and KMPlayer.
    I observed the same false bahaviour with all but Windows player CLASSIC. Only with this player everything's fine! The other three have same problem - when moving laptop(sometimes without even moving it) audio/video intermits(or sound stops functioning until re-open file).
    I really don't have explaination for that...it turns out that problem may be partly software...Is it possible that Windows classic proccess files in some different way?
    Later I will try to make Skype work too...
    In this case maybe problem can be solved with new driver...

  • T400 - Video problems and a long wait for repair...

    Hi,
    I'd just like to state my experience with Lenovo Customer Support for a video problem with my T400.  Bottom line, as of today, it's been around 27 business days that it's been with Lenovo, and 41 days total since it's failed on me, and nobody, including Lenovo Customer Support, seems to know what its status is exactly, except that they're waiting on a part which has no ETA.
    In July 2009, I bought a T400, a 2764CTO version with the switchable graphics between the internal intel graphics and the ATI GPU.
    All was well until February 1st, 2010, when the LCD sudden wouldn't work.  Well, it would work, but the screen was very very dim, even with the display maxed out on brightness.  You would have literally bring your nose to the screen in order to even make out any text or images - definitely unusable.  However, if you hooked up an external monitor via the video output, the T400 would display video output properly that way.  When I did this, I noticed that the switchable graphics option wasn't there any more - couldn't switch to the ATI GPU.  Based on this, I figured it must be a video card or LCD issue, or a combination of both.
    So, I called Lenovo Customer Support (CS) at 1-800-565-3344, since I'm up here in Canada, and I initially was issued a case number of 41JRFSD, and I agreed to send it to a local Lenovo Repair Centre.  Oops, my bad, I made a mistake using the locator tool I was told to use at bplocator.lenovo.com, and thought the Centre was relatively close.  Not quite.  So, I called Lenovo CS again, and they issued me with a new case number, 40KWSYF, and said they'd send a box for return to depot.  And within 2 days, Feb 2nd or 3rd, I got a Purolator courier return box.  That's fast service!  Pleased, I put my T400 in according to instructions, and I sent it off.
    Fast forward to about mid-February.  I called Lenovo CS, and apparently there was a delay - the depot needed a part that wasn't in stock. Fine, I know these things can happen - I'll wait.
    Fast forward to March 1st.  I talk to a Lenovo CS rep, and it appears that the part needed has arrived, and they've put a rush order to get the computer back to me. Great!
    Fast forward to March 8th, still no computer.  I talk to another Lenovo CS rep... strange, there's no update.  The issue gets escalated to the Depot managers.
    Fast forward to March 12th.  Still no word on my T400's status.  An email fron CS has been sent to the depot.  Not even the CS reps know what's going on.  The rep I talk to figures there should be a response by the end of the day.
    Fast forward to today, March 13th, 4:50pm Pacific Time.  I just finish talking to Lenovo CS, there's been no response from the depot.  Apparently there's a part that they're waiting on for repairs, but there's no ETA on it.  Is it the same part that I've waiting on all this time?  Is it a new one?  I don't know. 
    At this point, I've been told to send an email explaining my situation, and I've also been told to talk to Scott the next time I call CS on Monday after 3pm Eastern.  I have to stress that the Lenovo Customer Support Reps I've talked to have all been very sympathetic and have been courteous, helpful, and professional - something I appreciate from having worked in Customer Support myself.  But the bottom line remains: my computer's not back to me.
    So, my questions to the community here: is my experience here typical?  Is there any hope of my seeing my computer back, or even at least just the hard drive?  I've used Lenovo computers for work for the past 7 years, and it was my good work experiences that led me to buying a Lenovo for home use.  However, it's been a while since I've been without my T400, and I was hoping to get my taxes done on the computer too, since they're due at the end of March.  I'll reserve judgement on Lenovo until I get my computer back, but at this point, all I can say is... I'm disappointed.
    If you're reading this, I'll let you judge my experience for youself.  I'll update my case as it progresses.

    Hi all,
    So, an update with some good news: my computer is finally back!  
    After a total of over 40 business days (just over 2 months) I finally have my T400 back at home, working again!
    According to the spec sheets, the repair depot had to replace: the systemboard/planar, display/LCD panel, LCD cable, PC card, bluetooth, and the inverter.  BIOS/Embedded controller was also updated, along with the regular diagnostics to ensure everything was working properly.
    I give Lenovo credit though: they got the final parts to repair the computer on Monday, April 5th, and shipped my computer back to me for the next day (today, April 6th).  That's fast service, once repaired!
    However, my case spans over 4 screens of updates and repair depot orders of parts.
    Also, it took me over 10 calls to Lenovo's Customer Service, plus an escalation to a higher-level manager after 1 month had passed, to get progress updates and ETAs for repair.
    Lenovo called me only once to give me an update, and that was the manager whom my issue was escalated to: all the other times, I called Lenovo for an update.
    The story doesn't end here, however:
    In talking to Customer Support, they told me that Sales might be able to sell me an extended warranty at a discount, given the issues I had.  And indeed, after talking to Sales, they offered me a 1 year warranty extension at a price of just over $100 CDN, plus tax.  This is a sale price, compared to the regular retail of $129.  Unfortunately, they can't sell me just one month.
    At this point, I refused their offer, and again escalated to a manager to request an extension of exactly 1 month on my existing warranty.  I figure 1 month delay in repairs, that's plausible - crap happens, and while most repairs take 5-10 business days, I can understand it can sometimes go higher.  Two months though....  My request for a warranty extension is being considered by the manager it was escalated to.
    So, one last question for you folks reading this: am I being unreasonable, talking to Lenovo support one more time to request a 1 month extension of my warranty, given the length of time it's taken for repairs?  I'll post the response Lenovo will give me tomorrow, as they've said they'll do.
    One thing for sure: Lenovo's response will definitely influence my choice of brand from whom to buy a new computer (and it will influence the choice of my friends who've heard my issues, and maybe yours too).  My particular repair problem may not come up often, but if it does happen to you, I'd be happy to know of your experience.

  • Why does a Safe Boot fix my video problem?

    After visiting my local Genius Bar twice (and getting two different answers), I erased and reinstalled Snow Leopard 10.6 on my late-2006 "white plastic" iMac.
    I reinstalled the version of SL that came with the iMac, then upgraded it twice to OS 10.6.8. Software Updater says all of my OS components are up-to-date.
    My video-corruption problems ("ghosting", "tearing", pixelation of icon, then the kernel CRASHES within 20 minutes) appear when I boot normally. But they permanently disappear when I reboot into the Safe Mode! 
    I've search Apple.com and every other site I can find without a clear answer to this:
    What extensions, StartUp items, software daemons or gremlins DO NOT load in Safe Mode? Shouldn't one of them be the cause of my problem? Or does Safe Boot work on a hardware-level, too?
    This happens on ALL accounts, both Admin and regular users. No external devices are connected except the wired mouse and wired keyboard.
    I've zapped the PRAM three times, and I've unplugged it for hours. Disk Utility shows everything is good, too. There's about 50 gigs left on the internal 750 GB hard drive.
    The so-called "Geniuses" both ran their Triage OS off an external drive and my iMac hardware passed ALL of their tests. One said it just needed a reinstall (a free fix!!), and the other said my video card is bad ($800, and I have to use an outside repair shop).
    Can someone give me an idea how to proceed? I've been working in Safe Mode for days, but that prevents me from using: Sound, my home network, fonts, Preview, editing in iPhoto, etc.

    Thanks for the quick reply.
    I read the linked post about QE, but I don't see how it could help me troubleshoot my problem. Could you clarify: is QE a piece of "software" (that is, a file -- like an extension)?
    If QE IS a piece of software that is disabled in a Safe Boot, I should be able to move it to my Desktop and restart. If my video problem is eliminated, the QE software is the problem, right?
    But then, if my problem is caused by a file/extension, why would the problem occur (and be eliminated in a Safe Boot) right after I re-installed the OS? Shouldn't all the System software be pristine right after re-installation? But since it's NOT fixed by the re-installation, it seems like a hardware problem -- like the expensive video card. That's what's confusing me.
    So, I'm proceeding as if the problem is caused by a file being loaded into memory and I'm trying to disable the items that don't load in Safe Boot Mode one-at-a-time. I just need a specific list of what those items are (and their locations on my hard drive).
    In OS/9, I used Conflict Catcher to do this automatically, but I haven't found an OSX app to do the same. So I'm trying to do it manually.
    Please excuse my layman's terms. Any help is appreciated.
