Time zone in iWeb blogs

I could use a little help ...
I am publishing an iWeb '09 blog on my website, but the time indicated on my blog entries is 3 hours off. I live on the East Coast, but it appears that the time used for the blogs is West Coast time.
Note that I am not using MobileMe as my hosting service.
What am I doing wrong?
-AstraPoint

Hi Manny,
On top of your screen in ST22 System tab will be available
Go to System-->Status ..here you can check the time zone for your used id available under usage data.
You can change it with help of basis team.

  • Wrong time zone with rss feed in iWeb

I'm using the RSS widget in iWeb, and all the RSS items are nine hours off - meaning they're on California time (I'm in Norway). The time zone is wrong even when I look at the feed in iWeb, so I don't think it's a server issue (and I'm not publishing to MobileMe).
I've found a couple of other questions about this on the board, but no answers, so here we go again... anyone? I've tried several different feeds.

Same question! There must be some command-line hack to fix this. Any one figured it out?
It's posted times in USA Pacific time by default (GMT -8). This is iWeb 3.0.1.

  • Time Zone Automation

I've seen some other threads and info online about automating time zone application during OSD, but it just isn't working for me.
I've added the following settings in my CustomSettings.ini. Running through a MDT simulation I get the correct settings. Doing an actual OSD, I see the correct time zone applied in the SMSTS.log file. But when the deployment is finished, it is back to Pacific
time zone. I have Pacific as the time zone in my "Apply Windows Settings" step which is after the gather step, so I thought that was the cause. Disabling "Apply Windows Settings" and adding in the info from that step to my answer file got
rid of the Pacific time zone, but made it some other zone I don't have defined anywhere.
So my question is if I am placing steps out of order? Is my CS.ini not formatted correctly? Should I not have disabled the "Apply Windows Settings" step?

As mentioned, run-time configuration of value overwrites design time. Basically, everything set while creating or editing a task sequence is stored in a task sequence variable. You can thus conceptually think about these as being set at the start of the
task sequence executing. Thus, anything set while the task sequence is running, like things from MDT, will overwrite things set earlier.
There must be something else re-setting the timezone somewhere *or* MDT is not actually setting the value correctly.
Based on the MDT documentation, setting TimeZoneName is valid for ConfigMgr and thus should work. Are you using a default MDT task sequence in ConfigMgr?
You can try directly setting OSDTimeZone as that will directly overwrite the variable from the task.

  • How do I set up calendar events that will be for another time zone? My events shift once I travel

How do I set up calendar events that will be for another time zone? My events shift once I travel. The same is true when I am traveling and in another time zone, how do I best set up my events so they are in the correct time slot upon my return?

Basically, if your client does not have a Mac then don't use iWeb to create the site. iWeb is Mac only and if a client wishes to make alterations, then they need the domain file.
If your client needs to update on a weekly basis, then why not consider using one of the online website creation packages where you can log in from any Mac or PC. This would be simpler and there are lots out there - Microsoft Office Live or Google or something like http://www.wix.com where you can create a site and use a domain name with it.
Look at the alternatives before using iWeb.

  • Using Facebook Comments for iWeb Blog (non mobile me domain)

Upon moving from a mobileme hosted iWeb created blog to a personal domain, I obviously lost ability to use iWeb commenting. That in-of-itself was frustrating, so I've been scouting out new possibilities. Some have recommended IntenseDebate and others, but I'm curious if anyone has had luck using Facebook Comments? http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/comments
I've been able to use the Facebook Like HTML as a Widget not a problem, but haven't been able to get Comments to work.
    www.kellerowski.com
    Thanks in advance!

That is because it is a plugin and plugins won't work with iWeb as far as I am aware.
I would try http://www.intensedebate.com. It is very easy to set up and it works and you will be notified by e-mail every time somebody posts a comment. I use IntenseDebate on my own site and it works very well for me.
Your other alternative of course is to ditch the iWeb blog and create a blog link to a blog created in WordPress - you can use http://www.wordpress.org too if you uploading to another host, so you will then have www.domain.com/Blog.

  • Google Analytics Automator breaks iWeb blog comments

    Hi
I added a blog for our Small Business site that I created with iWeb. We used Google Analytics and the Automator script add the HTML snippet to track visits on our site. Since I added the blog I realized that after running the GA automator script the "Add a comment" link disappears.
Kinda defeats the purpose of the blog. I have to choose between tracking how many visitors have been on the blog, or visitors posting comments, but I can't have both. How can I fix this and track how many visitors were on our site, and have a blog where visitors can leave comments? Any ideas and solutions would be most welcome. Thanks,
    Zoltan

Unfortunately, as you have discovered, inserting Google Analytics into your site requires post editing. This means that you cannot just publish directly to MobileMe from iWeb - to insert the analytics you need to publish to a folder, insert and then place the Blog directly on your iDisk - unfortunately, this way you loose the features that your iWeb blog provides when published directly to MME - i.e. Blog comments.
Do you have an ordinary website too or is it just a blog? If you have an ordinary website, what some people do, including myself, is set up a blog with WordPress, E-blogger, or http://www.posterous.com and link to it from your iWeb site.
If you are just after setting up a blog on its own without a site, then I would suggest you look at http://www.wordpress.com, http://www.eblogger.com or posterous (link provided). You can set up a blog with any template you like and can add entries on line at any time, rather than being limited to updating with the domain.sites file as you are with iWeb.
In WordPress, you can also add as many pages as you like, so you can effectively have a website as well as a blog, so the other alternatives might be a better bet than iWeb and I think they have their own built in analytics too.

  • IWeb blog - How much to upload?

I have an established blog on my iWeb created website, in my own domain. http://www.cuppa500.com/CCC/CCC.html
To add a new entry to the blog I complete the following procedure:
Compose update & save in iWeb
Publish to a folder (on my desktop)
Transfer the updated material to my web site using FTP (Fireftp in Firefox).
This works ok ...BUT... each time I have uploaded the entire blog even if only correcting a previously uploaded spelling mistake! With the increasing size of my blog, this is becoming quite a lengthy process.
    QUESTION
Is it possible to upload individual blog entries, & if so how?
Very soon, I will wanting to update my blog more regularly whilst travelling, Mobile broadband is expensive so a method to cut back on the amount of data I upload is pretty essential.
    Thanks
    Cuppa
    http://www.cuppa500.com

If you update/correct a previous entry you can upload the files for that page only. If you do this for a new entry you will break the file structure.
I don't use the iWeb blog because it is restrictive and soon becomes unwieldy as you have discovered.
Consider starting a new blog for your "travels".
You can publish several blogs as sub sites and upload them to your server as separate entities and link to and from your main site.
Using a better FTP application will help. I use Yummy which has a ton of options.

  • Russia Time Zone - Outlook Meetings/Calendar issue

    Hello all,
we are having issues with meeting requests in our our russian office since the last change to winter time in october.
We patched all clients with KB2998527 and are running Exchange 2010 SP3u5.
Meetings between the person setting up the Meeting and the resource calendar are still offset by an hour in Outlook 2010.
Do we need to deploy KB2998527 to our Exchange Servers only or do we need to deploy CU7 when it gets available as well?
Unfortunately, the information in the Exchange TechNet Blog in not very precise.
    Thank you!
    Best regards
    Matthias

    Hi,
Three factors affect the scheduling of a meeting in Microsoft Outlook:
The clock setting (time) of the computer.
The local time zone setting of the computer.
The daylight saving time adjustment setting of the computer.
All three factors must be set correctly on both the meeting organizer's computer and on each attendee's computer to ensure meetings display at the correct times.
    Refer from
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/troubleshoot-time-zones-HP001022309.aspx
Although this troubleshoot applies to Outlook 2003, we can also check these in Outlook 2010 for reference.
Hope this will be helpful for you.

  • IWeb Blog: I would like users to Register....

iWeb Blog: I would like users to Register first in order to post a REPLY.

All you need to do is create your second site in iWeb, move it to the top of lhe list of sites in the left hand pane and publish to your MobileMe account. You must make sure the second site has a different name from the first.
Then setup domain name forwarding to the second site following Apple's instructions here: iWeb: Using your own domain name. You will need to setup forwarding at your domain name provider also.
The key is that the second site (with the domain name) must the top top size in iWeb.
Note:  with MobileMe scheduled to be discontinued on June 30, 2012, you might begin looking into obtaining another host.  When you do you'll find that both sites will need to have a domain name.
When the time comes take a look at HostExcellence.com.  I've had excellent results with it. They have a couple of packages that offer free domain names.  And most important they have outstanding 24/7, ear-to-ear customer support.

  • IWeb Blog - Importing Friendster Blog

I have a blog on Friendster that I'd like to continue in iWeb.
Forgettng iWeb right now, as a first step, does anyone know how to export text AND images from Friendster blog to a file/group of files to my computer? (second step would be to re-arrange and upload to iWeb, but I can't get the first step done!).
Current Friendster export generates an HTM file with all the text, but HTML references to locations on the site where my images are; any automated way to download these from the site, save to disk, and update the reference in the original HTM file?
    Thanks
    Alan

Before you spend time on this, make sure you know how limited iWeb blogs are. There may be a lot of things you can do with Friendster that you can't do with iWeb.

  • Databases for Multi Time Zone

We got two different SQL Server which are running SQL Server 2008 R2 and soon we are upgrading to one SQL Server 2012. Both are running in different time zone
I been given a task that whether is it possible to publish databases on One Server with different Time Zone( just to reduce the cost).
we got  1000+ SP's which uses Getdate() and GET date UTC function.
My Question is that, is it possible to publish databases on a single server with multi Time zone and if yes then how do i manage those.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Agree with the previous comments. The workaround is to use SWITCHOFFSET() function to calculate the time based on a time zone offset.
The following example uses SWITCHOFFSET to display a different time zone offset than the value stored in the database.
    CREATE TABLE dbo.test
        ColDatetimeoffset datetimeoffset
    GO
    INSERT INTO dbo.test
    VALUES ('1998-09-20 7:45:50.71345 -5:00');
    GO
    SELECT SWITCHOFFSET (ColDatetimeoffset, '-08:00')
    FROM dbo.test;
    GO
    --Returns: 1998-09-20 04:45:50.7134500 -08:00
    SELECT ColDatetimeoffset
    FROM dbo.test;
    --Returns: 1998-09-20 07:45:50.7134500 -05:00

  • Exchange Server meetings in Russian time zones as well as names of time zones are incorrect after October 26, 2014

After October 26, 2014, Exchange Server users who are in Russian time zones may see meeting times incorrect Time Zone-display names may be outdated in OWA.
RU8 should release in middle of November of this year.
The RU8 update only updates the “Time Zone Name” http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/3004235
Time zone display names in OWA will be outdated after October 26, 2014. Meeting times will be updated if you install the 2014 time zone update for Russia (KB 2998527)
for the Windows Server. Exchange Server 2010 and Exchange Server 2013 rely on Windows for time zone information.
The actual times will be correct in OWA as long as the Windows OS update is applied: http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/2998527
    Note:
There are multiple components involved this issue.Windows PC O/S update, Windows Server O/S update and Exchange server application update. We need to ensure all the below things are up-to date in-order for this functionality to work properly.
Windows PC - It should have the latest patch updated. There is no patch that needs to be rolled out for windows PC for this functionality to work.Just ensure that end users are in the latest available patch.
Windows Server- Ensure that the Windows server is latest update (http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/2998527)
Exchange Server patching-  There is also an Outlook Web Access (OWA) related component to this involving the availability of the latest Russian time zone changes into the OWA display.   Meetings will display correctly in the calendar,
it is more of a feature issue around time zone display names.  Exchange Server SP3 RU8 will address this, and it will be released in middle November.

  • Can you add an RSS feed on an iweb blog that would allow visitors to receive new entries by email?

Can you add an RSS feed on an iweb blog that would allow visitors to receive new blog entries through their email?

RSS feeds don't do that - if they add the feed to an RSS reader (including Safari or FireFox) they will see new updates every time they check: but sending them emails on each added episode would require extra programming in the actual program, which iWeb doesn't provide. You would need to have a mailing list and send out an email manually each time you add an episode.

  • Time zone region error

    Hi all
When I deploy my adf application to the weblogic server (10.3.3.0) and when I try to login to the app it is giving the following error
    Error 500--Internal Server Error

The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it from fulfilling the request.
when I checked the logfiles it is showing a time zone region error.
The application worked well when running from the Jdeveloper.
The datasource is to a XE_ database.

    Dear Experts,
I want to know if there any table to host time zones in HANA. we know TTZZ holds all time zones in ABAP.
I find HANA built-in functions utctolocal and localtoutc can verifies the time zone codes specified, that means there must exist one or more table to hold time zones data in HANA, right?
