"Timed event" for peak detection input

I have a program that takes some data and looks for peaks in the data it collects. What I need to do is make a timed event such that the "peak width" parameter will change from one control variable that I can change manually to a second one after a certain time. Do I need a second loop and some boolean logic for this, or is there a much simpler way?
I don't have access to the entire program right now, but the attached screenshot should contain all the relevant stucture.

Sorry for the multiple posts.
Upon closer inspection of the first VI image attached, I think I should clarify a bit more. In this attachment, a subVI called "peak detector" is being used to locate the magnitude and position of maximum values of the data array. I think this is the similar VI as the one shown here. This VI is being passed the following input parameters:
So it looks like the goal is to change the value of the "width" input manually after a certain period of time has elapsed. There was some ambiguity in my mind of exactly what this meant.
If we just want to change the value of the "width" input during future iteration(s) in the stacked sequence structure, one way would be to place a different control inside each stacked sequence structure. You could add Wait (ms) VI's inside each stacked sequence to delay the progression from sequence to sequence.
By contrast, if the goal is to change the value of the "width" input in the middle of the "X" array, then we could alter Detect Peak VI's default behavior by going into the block diagram of this VI. You might need to press "Ctrl+m" on its front panel to get an editable VI in this case. There, switch the threshold value to another added input parameter after a certain number of iterations into the array.
What is the behavior that you want to see?
Just some thoughts if you haven't solved the issue yet. Hope this helped, let me know if you have any questions or comments, and best of luck.

• How to use the table maintenance events for validating the input entries..?

Hi,
I have created a Z table with 6 fields in which all are KEY fields. All are of CHAR type. I have created the Table Maintenance Generator for the same. While maintaining the entries in the table, even though I maintain a blank entry for a field it is saving the entry. But, I don't want that way. All the fields are mandatory in my table. One should enter all the fields. Otherwise it should not allow to save the entry. So, I think it can be done using the Table Maintenance Events. can someone tell me how to use the Table Maintenance Events. and which event to use for my reuqirement and what is the logic to be written.
Or Is there any other way to solve my problem.
Please share your inputs. Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
paddu.

In the table maintenance generator, Environment --> Modifications --> Events then a screen will be appear here,we need to create the Events. In the EVENTS screen, press new Entries, there give 01(Before Saving the Data in the Database) and give a name(This will become a PERFORM), then click the Editor pushbutton, this will be there at the right side of the entry, then a popup will be appear, you can create an include program, there inside of the include program write ur code.
Here is documentation for Event 01(Before Saving the Data in the Database )
Event 01: Before Saving the Data in the Database
Use
This event occurs before new, changed or deleted entries are written to the database. Other activities can be performed, for example:
hidden entry processing
fill hidden fields
flag data to be written to hidden tables after the database change.
To have the changes saved by the central maintenance dialog routines, SY-SUBRC must be set to 0 at the end of the routine.
Realization
This event has no standard routine. The following global data is available for the realization of the user routine:
internal table TOTAL
field symbols
field symbols <ACTION> and <ACTION_TEXT>
<STATUS>-UPD_FLAG
If internal table data are to be changed before saving, t he changes should be made in both the internal table TOTAL and in the internal table EXTRACT.

• How to use peak detection in labview to detect peaks from data acquisition information

Hi
I am a university engineering student who is working in a team to develop a coin detector, its purpose is to recognize different coinage and detect fakes.
For this we are using LabVIEW 8.5.1. I am relatively new to labview and have had no experience of using to before. We are trying to integrate four voltage signals produced by an electromagnet, straingauge, optical sensor and a proximity sensor. We have already developed signal conditioning for these tests and now wish to put them into labview.
Our plan is to use peak detection on each of the tests so that labview can detect peaks which correspond to different coin types, provided they meet set criteria for each coin. Then to combine these either using logic or mathscript to produce a Boolean output for each coin.
One of our advisors helped us develop a peak detection program for a simple simulated sine wave however we are struggling to adapt this for data acquisition information and itegrate it with mathscript and to be honest it does not make much sense. I have attached the program below. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Chris,
Here are several ways to help you get started with peak detection:
1. On your functions palette, you can search for "peak detect" and you'll find several different variations of VIs that will do peak detection.
2. You may also want to take a look at this tutorial: Peak Detection Using LabVIEW and Measurement Studio
3. There's an example in the example finder called "Peak detection and display" that will probably be useful.
Hope this helps,

• Peak Detection with Base package

Hello,
I'm constrained by a budget so I can't purchase the analysis package
just for peak detection. Does anyone have any hints on how to search a
1-D array for peaks without using the pre-made VI's? I've been pulling
my hair out over this one for a week!
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the advice. Yeah, the NI home page tells me that th
ey use a
least square quadratic fit to find the peaks. I'm not sure on how to
implement that. I'll do a web search on that one. I'm not dealing with
a very noisy signal so I don't think that I need to do a moving
average. The amplitude filter seems pretty easy, I just compare each
point to a preset threshold. However my peaks are composed of more
than one sample so each peak gives me a bunch of "true" values. I only
want one count per peak. The way I thought of doing it was using
hysteresis and starting a subroutine when the upper limit boolean went
hi, then resetting the subroutine when the lower limit boolean went
hi. So essentially i need to have labview look for a high, THEN look
for a low, THEN reset over and over again until the sample array is
finished. I'd love to work on this for days but I've already put too
much thought into it.

• Peak detection with two thresholds

Dear colleagues!
Excuse me, but I need example or any help for peak detection with two thresholds. Namely two adjustable thresholds with standard peak detector for creating a detection's bandwith or range.
Peak detector have only one level threshold... But why only one...
Solved!
Go to Solution.

If I understand correctly, you want to set two thresholds as shown in the image below.
The top peak is easy, so no need to go into details for that one.
The peak for the second threshold (red) will be a bit more difficult to do.
You would need to filter out the signals that cross the top threshold (blue). This would be done by identifying the values as they cross the top threshold boundary. You would then need to build a "window" around them (we'll come back to this one).
You would need to define a range of valid values for the 2nd peak, which are from the bottom threshold to the top threshold. Search for the number of values that cross the top threshold plus one. The "plus one" is the one you will want to search. With all the other peaks that you do not want, you can create windows around them. The remaining one is the peak of interest.

The input to the peak detector VI is a simple DBL array. I would recommend you use Peak Detector.vi instead of the unexposed subVI in your code (from the biomed toolkit?).
Where are you getting your data? How you get from there to the peak detector will depend on this, since your data type could be dynamic data type, waveform, or simple array. When in doubt, search the LabVIEW help first.

• MyRIO FPGA FFT Express VI timing analysis for multiple input mode - trying to perform fft's on a 3-axis accelerometer

Hi Everyone!
Project Background:
I've been working with the myRIO FPGA in an attempt to generate an application capable of sampling a tri-axis accelerometer and performing an fft on each axis. I've successfully developed an application for a single axis, but attempting to duplicate the code to sample the second and third axes in parallel results in an estimated 150% resource utilization for the tiny FPGA's LUT's. Additionally, I'm looking to avoid sequentially processing each accelerometer input using triggers and a single fft block because that reduces my fft update frequency significantly (e.g. I can't calculate another fft for input 1 until I calculate an fft for inputs 2 and 3).
After reading up on the fft vi, I'm thinking that I can use the M-interval input indexes / Continuous output indexes Input/Output Index Pattern mode. My thought is that I can edit the vi to remove any math that "recombines" these three vectors into a single fft, resulting in 3 separate fft's. I'm also hoping that this process requires less time than using the sequential method described above.
The Questions:
1. Has anyone done an fft on three inputs using the myRIO at sampling rates > 20kHz and fft sizes of 1024 or larger? If so, I may just be lacking some proper resource management.
2. Does anyone know where to find timing information on the M-interval input indexes / Continuous output indexes Input/Output Index Pattern mode? The manual only provides timing diagrams for singel channel / single input modes. I don't want to waste my time modifying the vi if it will still take 3x as long (assuming modifying the vi is even a possibility).
Further Information:
I already have an application written that samples the accelerometers at >20kHz and then performs the fft on the main processor, but now I'm looking to see if it is possible to perform all signal processing on the FPGA side. The processor performs decently enough, but the timing is not as consistent as I would like it to be. Lastly, I am aware that the myRIO itself has a built in accelerometer, but I need to mount the accelerometer in an environment where the myRIO would probably be damaged and definitely cannot fit.
Any thoughts are much appreciated! The excessive FPGA compile times for this thing make the old guess and check method less appealing.
-Chris

Hi Chris,
Thanks for posting and the detailed background on the project! To answer some of your questions:
1. The FFT Express VI does use a significant amount of space. The FPGA on the myRIO is somewhat limited space-wise. Your best option may to implement the FFT for 1 channel on the FPGA and the other two on the RT side.
2. I converted the FFT Express VI to a subVI and I am not sure if you can trim too much code from it. The subVI is also very complex so re-working it would be a significant amount of work. I could not find much documentation on M-interval input indexes / Continuous output indexes Input/Output Index Pattern mode timing.
I hope that this helps!

• Time zone compatability problem with timed event created on iOS and pushed to Windows7 Outlook calendar for sharing

Hi, I am in Jerusalem time zone. My Windows7 LAPTOP time zone is set to it (UTC+02:00 Jerusalem). My iPhone5 and iPad are both "Set Automatically" (ON) to Jerusalem. When I create any new event in my outlook on my Laptop it's generated with the Jerusalem time zone and pushed properly via iCloud to my iPhone and iPad. However when I create a new timed event on either my iPhone or iPad. or even in iCloud calendar (in a browser) the event is pushed to outlook on my Laptop in a "Beirut" time zone. Now that both Jerusalem and Beirut are on the same time zone (UTC + 02:00) it doesn't create any problem (though I prefer to see that the pushed events are indeed in Jerusalem time zone and not Beirut...). However, at and around day time saving change days there are problems of events created on iOS devices or even in iCloud (using browser) and pushed to outlook at the wrong times (1 hour earlier or later, depends on the change direction in Jerusalem time...) with a Beirut time stamp.
How can I resolve this problem and make sure all timed events, created on iOS devices at a Jerusalem time zone, appear as such after pushed via iCloud to my windows7 Outlook calendatr? Thanks!

I also have this issue (iPhone 5). Outlook needs to be configured properly in that timezone option needs to be selected. Which is challenging enough.
However the bigger issue for me is that when I open the ICN file:
1. I have no way to accept decline etc.
2. When the event is populating the calendar in the wrong time I can neither cut and paste nor select and move. It is totally static.
So for every meeting request I have to ensure it populates the right time as per my time zone. and if it doesnt i have to manually enter a second meeting 'X' hours earlier/later depending on which time zone the meeting was generated in.
I spoke to Apple. Their solution is make sure Outlook is properly configured. Fine...but good luck. I need a work around that is Apple based. Because this *****.
They said they would send to the development team. I am not holding my breath.

• Webdynpro abap onChange event for input

Hello,
I wanted to know if "onChange" event for input field is somehow possible in wd abap or if it is planned for next ehp releases
of ECC6.
(Like in Developer studio 7.11)
thanks.

Hi Thomas,
Opening in on a Very old post, but i kind of need an onChange event functionality in one of my Web App. Basically we are dealing with a input field which is populated using a barcode scanner and the user wishes to be able to pull all the information related to the material number read by the scanner in an Input Field Element and display the related info in other fields "Without having to hit ENTER". Sounds a bit lazy but thts wht they need.
I was wondering if its possible to modify the SuggestValue functionality to implement such an event. Any pointers to documents which explain how the SuggestValue works? I am just looking for code blocks (even if they are AJAX/Javascripts) tht i can somehow modify to make this thing work.
P.S. Also if there is any other functionality already introduced by SAP since the last comment on this thread to help solve this will be helpful too
Thanks,

• Peak Detection Algorithm for FPGA LabView

I am in the process of migrating my Labview software of a fiber optic sensor to an FPGA using a single board RIO. However, my program uses the pre-built Peak Detector VI, which contain some floating point math. I was wondering if there were any existing peak detection algorithms out there that uses the fixed-point math, required in the operation of the FPGA. Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.

mdnb2,
Here is a document on our website that talks about Peak Detection Using LabVIEW and Measurement Studio, though it references the VIs that are not available in FPGA, it has interesting information on peak detection in general.
As far as writing your own algorithm, here is how I would start writing one. Basic Steps :
1.) Search the array samples to find the top X number of points and their locations.
2.) Filter out multiple samples on the same peak by removing points close to other points by witdth of Y samples.
3.) Filter out low peaks by comparing the all remaining peaks to each other.

• Detect clicked cluster in mouse down event for clusters within multiple stacked clusters

With the help of Ben (see http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Determine-cluster-element-clicked-in-mouse-down-event/td-p/1245770)
I could easily find out what sub-cluster had been clicked on (mouse down event) within the main cluster, by using the Label.Text Property.
However if you have a cluster within a cluster within a cluster then you probably have to use individual mouse down events for each sub-sub cluster.
I just wanted to use one "Main Cluster":Mouse Down event and from that determine which of the sub-sub clusters had been clicked on - is this even remotely possible?

Yes but... you will have to pass through 26 Kudos worth of Nuggets to get there (Well maybe you can skip the last 5 or so).
This Nugget by Ton teaches us how to use Dynamic Event Registration. (15 Kudos, must read and understand)
This Nugget by me talks about getting at references inside arbitrary data structures. (11 Kudos, You don't have to read the whole thing, only enough to get at nested objects).
SO use the stuff I wrote about to gather up the references to the clusters. Build them into an array and then use dynamic event registration and what you learned in that thread you linked in your question.

• To cure the March 2013 monthly Calendar problem I amended my All- Day events for April 1 to timed events on my iPad. Now the Calendar does not load at all on the iPad, but still OK on iPhone 5. Any suggestions please?

In order to cure the problem on my iPad of the month of March 2013 only causing the Calendar to close, I amended all "All Day" events on April 1 to timed events. Now my Calendar will not open, although my Calendar on an iPad 2 and on iPhones 5 & 4 work perfectly. I have tried turning iPad off/on, but no effect. Any ideas please?

I'm having the same issue with my 3rd gen iPad too. I always viewed my calendar in month view. It won't even open since it's stuck on month view.
I've quit the app (properly closing via taskbar) and re-opened - crashes immediatly.
Quit the app and rebooted (via holding home/power buttons until restart) and opened - still crashes immediatly.
Anyone know how I'm able to get access to the app so I can change all day events to timed events in April. Is it just April 1st or all of April? I haven't even opened my iPhones iCal yet to see if it's having the same issue.
Also, not sure if this will work but iCal on my mac wireless syncs my calendar events. I'm wondering if I change April 1st all day events to timed events whether it'll sync and fix the issue of crashing?
