Timesheet on web

Hi,
Our users are using CAT2 on both NWBC and Webgui to input time sheet records However, they sometimes encounter run-time error when save timesheet on web. On the other hand, there is no problem on NWBC. We asked SAP OSS and they replied CAT2 on webgui is not supported after ERP2005. They suggested to upgrade to EA-HR 605 and use ESS/MSS system instead.
If we implement ESS/MSS for timesheet only, do we need to implement Enterprise Portal as well? Can we setup ESS and then directly call the web dynpro application of timesheet entry?
By the way, does anyone know if there is any other solution to solve the problem about CAT2 on web?
Thanks.
Daniel

Hi Daniel,
If you implement ESS/MSS for Timesheet you do not need to implement Enterprise Portal as long as you are on at least EP5 like SAP mentioned. You can use NWBC to implement this. Please take a look at the following link SAP NetWeaver Business Client and do the necessary research on NWBC and the feasibility for your client/organization. With NWBC you can only use ABAP WD applications and not Java WDA. Before Enhancement Pack 5 the standard applications for ESS/MSS were using Java WD which would require an enterprise portal. Beginning in EP5 SAP started moving these applications to ABAP WD which allows us to utilize NWBC. This is why SAP is recommending you upgrade your system in order to utilize this functionality.
My recommendation would be to upgrade as time and feasibility permits because it appears the web CAT2 application is no longer supported by SAP and would could require extensive debugging of the standard code and then would ultimately require a custom solution (Probably through an enhancement spot) which is likely more hassle than it is worth and could cause other issues in the application.
Thanks,
Imran

    Hi All,
We are moving Web Dynpro Java timesheet to Web Dynpro ABAP timesheet.
what changes needs to be done from EP side?
I have made Web Dynpro ABAP iView calling Web Dynpro ABAP timesheet and linked it with page.
But It is showing an error 'Web Dynpro Application CATDATARECORD does not exist'.
Please suggest what other changes needs to be done.

    Hi Anurag,
I have added new Web Dynpro ABAP iView to the same page in which Web Dynpro JAVA iview was added and made ABAP iview visible.
And this page is already assigned to role.
How should I link this ABAP iview so that it get replace by the Web Dynpro JAVA iview.
And the  application name (CATDATARECORD) is correct and Web Dynpro JAVA is using the same application.
But now we want new time timesheet for that what changes needs to be done?
    Please suggest.

  • Moving from Web Dynpro Java timesheet to Web Dynpro ABAP timesheet

    Hi
We are in the process of moving from Web Dynpro Java ESS timesheet to Web Dynpro ABAP ESS timesheet.  When using Web Dynpro Java ESS timesheet it is possible to enter time using a daily or weekly view.
When using the Web Dynpro version and ensuring the period type is set to weekly view for the data entry profile it is only possible to enter time on the weekly view, the tab for the daily view is no longer available.
Still using the Web Dynpro version and changing the period type to daily view I can enter time using the daily view and the weekly tab also becomes available, but the weekly tab is read only.
Do you know if it is possible to make daily and weekly timesheet entry for one data entry profile.
    Thanks
    Mark

Yes you can have only one view ie weekly or daily as per your CATS profile in CAC1.
but of course you can select multiple profiles
    Configuration
The application configuration HRESS_AC_CATS_1 is provided by default and allows you to provide default values for the application parameters. It also allows you to specify the layout and appearance of the application.
The following application parameters are provided:
    HIDE_CLOCK_TIMES_IN_WEEKLY
Hides the clock times in the weekly view.
    MULTIPLE_PROFILE
Enables the selection of multiple data entry profiles from the dropdown list

  • System error while opening the timesheet through Portal

    Hi Experts,
I am getting the below error message while opening the timesheet through Web Portal. But I am not getting any error if I book time through back end i.e. CAT2 Transaction.
System error: No receiver could be determined
This error comes in Portal only (not in backend) once I enable "HR Enables CATS" option in Data entry profile through CAC1 transaction. There is no error if the same option is disabled.  But we need this option to be enabled.

I created a sort of 'Timesheet' in web dynpro...
Unfortunatly, for all days of the month it displays '0.00' as initial value...
Is it possible to not display this initial value or display space/empty ?
In gui alv it is possible, I don't know if it could be done in web dynpro

    Hi,
For the node to which the ALV is bound. For the column (context attribute) check the property of the attribute check the formatting propertioes as ZEROS AS BLANKS

  • Time Recording Customisation

I have a major requirement for recording work time for employees in an organisation. In this organisation, work times are recorded against projects however, these recordings are never used to update project activities. Below are the issues I am presently facing.
    1. There are two groups of employees - those who are entitled to overtime pay and those who are not. Is there a way to handle the process of overtime recording and payment for the staff entitled to them against the projects?
    2. I used project WBS as the receiver object for the recorded time. I therefore made Receiver WBS a required field in the Data Entry Profile but the timesheet still saves even when entries are not made to the Receiver WBS field. How can I ensure that entries are made to the Receiver WBS field and becomes a condition for saving and releasing the recorded times.
    3. Finally I need a good documentation on workflows for time recording. The idea is that once a timesheet is released, the employee's superior gets a notification to approve the timesheet. Web links will help a lot.
Any help with any of these points will be very well appreciated.

    HI,
It is not manditory that u need to use the time recording terminal to be certified from SAP, U can also use any third party terminal, to record the time as per my knowledge. For this u have integrate the thir party terminal and the sap system.
For the integration do sertain configuration setting in SPRO like
In Personnel Time Management->Time Data Recording and Administration ->
Integrating Time Management with Other R/3 Applications ->Do all the stps like
    1.Recording Personnel Costs
    2.Entry Specifications for Activity Allocation
    3. Recording External Services
    4. Customizing User Interfaces
    5. Set up customer enhancements
    Hope this helps u,

  • Timesheet error (Only for one user on one task): This Web Part was unable to load

    Hi,
We have a weird problem with Project server 2013.
We are on the latest March CU 2015 update on MS Project and Project server.
    Problem:
A resource(user) is being assigned to a task. When opening the Project with the MS Project client, you can see that the resource is effectively assigned.->OK
The real problem is when the user goes to his timesheets. He don’t see this task anymore. Other users that are assigned to the same task can see this task in the Timesheets and can open it.
When the user go back to a timesheet on a period where the task was working and visible, and he open that timesheets, he get an error: “This Web Part was unable to load”

    Someone any idea?
Since we are migrated to Project 2013, we have a lot of problems with Project Server. Too late to go back

    Thanks in advance,
    Johan

    Hi Johan,
The assignment of this user on the given task might be corrupted. Try to remove the resource from the task, publish the project, assign the resource again and publish again the project. If it is not working, try to unpublish the task (column "publish")
    and publih it again.

  • Primavera p6- timesheet & web access

    hi
i want to ask question about primavera professional project management
can i access timesheet and p6 web module
    if yes - How
if No- what i need to use timesheet and p6 web access
    regards
    Alaa

    Hi Alaa,
Sounds like you need to be in the 'Primavera P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management' forum... this is for the old Product name Prosight not P6.
From my understanding, Oracle Primavera PPM provides and 'Enterprise' version (which includes the Web services and Timesheets) and a 'Professional' version that provides upto 100,000 activites in each project, with not web services or timesheet tools, this may have been what you have purchased/recieved/installed.
Best you check with your sales contact and confirm with them that you need the Enterprise version.
Or if you have the enterprise version, you can download the required tools from the Orcle website.

    James

  • Error while creating a Timesheet - Project Server 2013

    Hi everyone,
One of user of PWA encounters an issue when he tries to create a timesheet. This error only occurs with a timesheet of
a specific period, he can create all the other timesheet.
So, when he creates the timesheet, this error occurs : "The timesheet creation failed, because of problems with Project Web App or with data validations"
After reloaded the list of the timesheets, a link to go to the specific timesheet
is available but if we click on it, we have this error :
"View Failue - The view failed to load"
I think , this error occurs
because the timesheet is not realy existing even if we have a link to it.
In the log (full log at the end), I've got this error :
Exception occured in method 'TimeSheet.CreateTimesheet' System.ArgumentException: These columns don't currently have unique values.
I've found this link with the same kind of problem :
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/projectserver/en-US/b0a92afc-11fc-40ef-9a44-357d953b31f6/unable-to-open-or-create-timesheets-these-columns-dont-currently-have-unique-values?forum=projectserver2010general but I've checked and published all the
user project but still have the error.
Have you got any idea where are these columns ? How can I found them without checked every project of PWA ?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
When a user tries to access his timesheet he get the below error:
<b>communication problem the web server extension (WGATE) failed to receive a response from the ITS web service</b>
Only ONE user is getting this error. If everyone get\s the same we can check on the ITS side, but if only ONE user is getting it.
    Please help.

    HI ALL,
Thanks for your time. The issue got resolved however without cheking the logs itself. The problem was with the scripfile. All other users and all other scripts were working, except one. And it got recified.

  • Project Server 2010 (PWA Timesheet) Error

    Hello,
I am an administrator for Project Server and had a resource submit a timesheet in error. The timesheet was approved at the time and recalled by the resource at the same time. When the resource had tried to recall, they received back an error. I delegated
as the resource and tried to recall it as the user but it gets stuck with the green loading picture and never moves past that. It seems the status update was accepted when it got approved and now the timesheet is "stuck". From the user's standpoint,
it shows only as "Submitted" in their Timesheet status, but somehow it does not let me delete the timesheet. The error received is saying Invalid object, timesheet failed/blocking correlation. Anyone have any idea how to resolve this? Can't seem
    to fix this error.
This is the error i get in return:
    Timesheet:
    GeneralInvalidObject (20009). Details: id='20009' name='GeneralInvalidObject' uid='fc00fed3-1cb1-48b2-83b6-800b03b33f1d' parameter='nextApproverUID'.

    Thanks!

Is the Test and Production in the same domain. If they are not, then the SIDs associated with the SQL accounts may look the same but they are not.  At times, I have had to recreated accounts when in different domains.
I would also use PowerShell cmdlets and see if it finds any issues, such as Test-SPContentDatase.. Validate the SharePoint content databases, because if not setup properly the Provisioning will fail.
    Also check these properties.
    $web=get-spweb http://prodproj01/pwa
$Web.AllProperties[“PWAURL”] ### see what the value is.. you may have to blank it out, specially if it is pointing to a different URL
    Here is how to fix.
    $Web.AllProperties[“PWAURL”]=””
    $web.Update()

  • How to configure DNS server to redirect all web traffic to one external website?

I'd like to use the DNS service on my OS X Server as a way to force all all web traffic to one specific, external website. Not quite sure how to go about configuring it, though - any recommendations?
(BTW, this is, obviously, not our primary DNS server; I intend to silently update the preferred DNS server for users who fail to complete their timesheets in order to force the issue)

Web clients don't generate uniquely-identifiable DNS queries; there's no SRV request or related traffic that you could select on and spoof.  So if you do implement this, everything querying the spoofing DNS server will get the spoofed host, or you'll have to spot specific queries that are likely web queries; Facebook, Google, Bing, etc.
If you still want to implement this, then I'd probably replace the DNS server with a runt DNS server (maybe hack dnsmasq or maraDNS, or create yourself a trivial DNS server) and have that always return the specified IP address.  This avoids having to hack BIND to be universally authoritative, which is probably on par with hacking a simpler DNS server to always return a fixed IP address, and the latter is probably easier to undo.
A firewall can spot TCP port 80 and port 443 traffic, unlike a DNS server.   Firewalling outbound port 80 traffic is more typical of these requests, and either trap that traffic to a specific web page based on the capabilities of the firewall, or the web proxy approach that Camelot suggests.  There are folks that tie access into the web proxies into external authentication and related; that'd be able to do what you want.   Web proxies are usually combined with firewall blocks, as most sites want only the web proxy to have external access, too.  But this is also rather more pieces than a DNS redirect, too.

  • Is there a way to clean up the Timesheet tables in MS Project 2007 before I migrate to 2013?

    Hi All
I'm attempting to migrate an instance of project server 2007 over to 2013.  The problem is that it failes on the convertto process when combining the 4 2010 databases into a single 2013 database.
Reading through the logs it appears to be an issues with an invalid Foreign Key in the MSP_TimesheetProjects table.
On investigation I find that the 2007 Timesheet tables in the Reporting database have a number of invalid entries.  We don't use the timesheeting system in that particular instance so there should not be any entries at all.  There are however a
couple to projects in the TimesheetProjects table, as well as a few tasks and timesheet lines, even though there don't appear to be any timesheets.  I have run a delete on all timesheets in the system, and have rebuild the Reporting database by restoreing
custom fields, but I can't seem to shift them.
If anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate the help.
    John

    Hi John,
What I'd suggest would be to refresh the 2007 reporting DB. See the procedure below:
Logon to Project Web Access with Administrator credentials
Select Administrative Backup from the Database Administration secton on the Server
    SettingsPage in Project Web Access
In the Items for Backup section of the Backup page,
select the checkbox for Enterprise Custom Fields and then click the Backup button and click the OK button
    when prompted by the system
Select Administrative Restore from the Database Administration secton on the Server Settings Page in Project Web Access
Choose Enterprise Custom Fields from the Choose Item selector on the Restore page
Click the Restore button and then click the OK button
    when prompted by the system
    See reference
    here.
    Hope this helps,

  • Hiding and clearing cells in WebI 4.0

    Hi guys,
We are building a resourcing solutions which looks at exceptions between Timesheet data and Resourcing data, ie. the resourcing team want to be able to see that the time logged by consultants matches what is was planned by resourcing.
The WebI report is being built on top of BPC10.0 using a BPC planning model.  Within the planning model the timesheet data and resourcing data will be stored as versions.  We are able to build a WebI report from a BEx query on top of this model, but we are struggling with presenting the data as requested.  Within the report resourcing want to be able to see the resourcing data and the timesheet data.  What we want to do is compare the timesheet and resourcing versions, blank out any cells for dates where there are no exceptions, and remove any consultants who have no exceptions at all that week.
An example of this would be:
    4th    5th    6th    7th   8th
    Consultant A     Res      1        1      1      0      0
    Time      1        1     1      0      0
    Consultant B     Res       1       0       0      1      1
    Time      0       0       1      1      1
So in this case we would want to completely hide the data for consultant A and show the data for consultant B in this format:
    4th    5th    6th    7th    8th
    Consultant B    Res      1       x       0         x       x
    Time      0       x        1        x       x
Where x donates a blank cell.
The problem we have with the filters and conditions we have currently been working with is that either we are able to only blank out cells with no exceptions, or to completely remove any day with out exceptions (ie we would only see the dates the 4th and 6th displayed.  We need to keep the week structure there so that the view is intuitive to the User).  Neither of the "solutions" we are working on has the full functionality that we need and we can't find the middle ground.
I have searched the SDN for similar issues but haven't been able to find anything that really matches up to this.  Apologies if I have missed a similar thread and am covering old ground, but any help would be greatly appreciated.  Does anyone have a solution for these issues?
    Many thanks,
    Mike
Edited by: Michael Cowan on Jan 11, 2012 11:40 AM

Apologies I should have posted the solution.
In the end it was quite simple so it makes me a bit embarrassed for asking the question in the first placeg.  I am new to SAP though and my speciality is actually CRM rather than BPC or BI so I have an excuse.  Originally we were using one key figure (sign data which showed how much time was booked) in our BEx query which was matched against two structures which were our timesheet and resourcing versions within our BPC model.  We instead created 2 restricted key figures (timesheet, resourcing) and 2 calculated key figures (exceptions, exceptionssumperemployee) which allowed us to change how our data was represented.  The WebI report was then built from this BEx query.  We were then able to filter any consultants out where exceptionsumperemployee = 0 using the filter function within our WebI report.  We were also able to write a formula within WebI which blanked out all cells on any rows where the exceptions = 0.
I don't know if it was the cleanest solution available but it certainly seems to work.  Hope I explained myself coherently.
    Cheers,
    Mike
