Timestamp keyword or reserved keyword
This is actualy a definition question...
consider a table having a timestamp column named timestamp and the v$reserved_words view in oracle 10.

Lukasz,
I think it should have replied this:
SQL> SELECT * FROM v$reserved_words WHERE keyword = 'TIMESTAMP';
KEYWORD LENGTH R R R R D
TIMESTAMP 9 Y N N N Nand i already know this falls into a hair-splitting category of things. The reservered words view contains both keywords and reserved keywords. According to the definition (as I interpret it) Reserved keywords cannot be used in table and columnnames. Keywords should not be used as identifiers and
keywords might be promoted to reserved keywords in a future release (which is the question I am asking but for this release). It only fails in PLSQL, I know it works fine in SQL.Bottom line: never user either reserved words or key words as identifiers. Regardless of how oracle handles it, it just makes for confusion when reading and debugging code. If shops had strong naming standards (an idea that seems to have gone the way of the buggy whip) this would not even be an issue.

KEYWORD LENGTH

1 row selected.
It is also of the wrong type--> dates shouldn't be stored as varchar2.All we know, is that the column is treated as if it is a VARCHAR2. It doesn't have to be a varchar2, because he might be relying on some implicit datatype conversion.
The design of this table is a complete mess.
Drop it and redesign.You'd better tell that to Oracle as well then :-) :
SQL> desc user_objects
Name Null? Type
OBJECT_NAME VARCHAR2(128)
SUBOBJECT_NAME VARCHAR2(30)
OBJECT_ID NUMBER
DATA_OBJECT_ID NUMBER
OBJECT_TYPE VARCHAR2(18)
CREATED DATE
LAST_DDL_TIME DATE
TIMESTAMP VARCHAR2(19)
STATUS VARCHAR2(7)
TEMPORARY VARCHAR2(1)
GENERATED VARCHAR2(1)
SECONDARY VARCHAR2(1)My point is that the TIMESTAMP datatype was introduced in version 9, and versions prior to that were free to use the name "TIMESTAMP". And all those older applications still function. A redesign would be ideal, but maybe not economically feasible. Oracle certainly didn't choose a redesign.
If you are going to build a new application, then I agree that you'd better not use that reserved word anymore.

Correlate login and logout times in a table
I have a table LOGINDATA with three columns: USERID, TYPE, and TIMESTAMP.
USERID stores a unique integer that represents someone who uses the system.
TYPE is either 1 or 2. 1 represents a login. 2 represents a logout.
TIMESTAMP is a value that comes from System.currentTimeMillis. It represents the current time in milliseconds since January 1, 1970 (I believe that's the right date).
I'm trying to create a query to link each login time with its corresponding logout time, so that my resultset has three columns:
USERID, LOGINTIME, LOGOUTTIME.
I assume this would involve joining the table to itself, but creating a query to find the closest login and logout times is tricky.
What I have now is:
select li.userid, li.logintime, lo.logouttime from
(select userid, timestamp logintime from logindata where type = 1) li,
(select userid, timestamp logouttime from logindata where type = 2) lo
where li.userid=lo.userid
and li.userid=999999 is the userid of one user.
This will actually end up being more complicated with missing logout times, but this is a start.The data design makes this a very very very messy (and probably slow) query. Fundamentally, I consider designs like this to be broken because they're so hard to get relevant information out of the raw data; in some cases impossible (see comments below).
The following query works on Oracle database (where TIMESTAMP is a reserved word, so I used EVENTTIME instead) - I tested it with a few rows of data:
select li.userid, li.logintime, min(possible_logout) logouttime
from (select userid || to_char(eventtime, 'yyyymmddhh24miss') session_id, userid, eventtime logintime
from logindata where type = 1) li,
(select li.userid || to_char(logintime, 'yyyymmddhh24miss') session_id, li.userid, logintime, logouttime possible_logout
from (select userid, eventtime logintime from logindata where type = 1) li,
(select userid, eventtime logouttime from logindata where type = 2) lo
where logintime < logouttime
and li.userid = lo.userid(+) ) pl
where li.session_id = pl.session_id (+)
group by li.userid, li.logintime
order by li.logintime;Note that this will return the wrong result if for a particular user_id, you have overlapping logins, like:
time a - login session 1
time b - login session 2
time c - logout session 1 or 2
time d - logout session 2 or session 1
there is simply no way to tell which logout goes with which login and the query will report that both sessions ended at time c, which is absolutely unacceptable if this is to be a security audit trail... The only way to deal with this is to guarantee at the application layer that no user can be logged in twice.
Note also that it breaks by returning extra rows if a user somehow manages to log in twice or more at the same moment, whatever the granularity of your TIMESTAMP is... This is because of the join on the generated SESSION_ID; if you get 2 or more of them the same, you get a cartesian product (2 IDs, 4 rows; 5 IDs, 25 rows, etc...)
It would obviously be a lot cleaner if you stored some sort of unique session_id in your table. Note that the session_ids used for session tracking in J2EE web servers get recycled over time and are therefore unsuitable (by themselves) as unique session ids. And if you store a session id, then you can fix your broken data model and avoid all this mess in the first place by making your table have the columns:
USER_ID, SESSION_ID, LOGIN_TIME, LOGOUT_TIME
Insert on login, update on logout... -
Oracle reserved and non-reserved keywords
Hello,
I'm looking for a list of reserved and non-reserved keywords for all Oracle versions starting from 9.
I think Oracle starts at R1, right? So the versions needed would be:
9.1, 9.2
10.1, 10.2 and
11.1
I found lists of keywords querying Oracle view V$RESERVED_WORDS
http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14237/dynviews_2048.htm#REFRN30204
here:
http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14200/ap_keywd.htm
However, this is only for version 10.2 and it contains only reserved keywords.
I need a list for every maintenance/minor version. This list must contain all keywords in Oracle PL/SQL, not just the reserved ones, but also those which shouldn't be used in certain contexts described by the V$RESERVED_WORDS view (former link) -> probably reserved = 'N'.
Since I don't own a copy of Oracle and definitely not of every minor version, does anyone know where to obtain such lists?
You might want to do me a favor and query that view for me... ;-) (you can send the output to "k w u t z k e AT w e b DOT d e" ... don't forget to mention the version)
From what the view tells me, the SQL statements to query are:
For reserved words:
select keyword from v$reserved_words where reserved='Y' order by keyword;
For all other non-reserved words:
select keyword from v$reserved_words where reserved='N' order by keyword;
Are there any keywords/entities that are neither reserved='Y' nor reserved='N'?
Can anyone help on this issue please?
TIA,
KarstenNot sure about differences between specific versions but the easy way to get reserved words is in SQL*Plus...

Oracle 10G R2: Cannot access a table whose name is a reserved keyword
Hello,
Oracle 10G R2 database being accessed using Oracle 10G thin driver in Java.
There is a table named GROUP in the db - GROUP is a reserved keyword of course.
When I execute the statement (after getting the database metadata object from a java.sql.Connection to the DB):
oracle.jdbc.OracleDatabaseMetaData.getIndexInfo(null, "MYDB", "GROUP", false, true)
I get:

When I execute the statement:
oracle.jdbc.OracleDatabaseMetaData.getIndexInfo(null, "MYDB", "\"GROUP\"", false, true)
the result set is empty
What is the correct way for me to get the index info from the table named GROUP?
Thanks,

Which would suggest you are using the correct name as a quoted identifier. Presumably the code you are using works for other tables. But you might try variations in case.
You can also query the database directly to get the index information rather than using the metadata.

CMP table name using reserved keyword
Hello,
I am migrating an existing application from JBoss to WebLogic.
One of the issues that came up is that there are three tables
named User, Transaction, Identity which in case of SQL Server
happen to be reserved keywords. In JBoss descriptors we used
to escape those names with square brackets and it worked fine.
I can not seem to find a way to make it work in WebLogic. If
I escape them as mentioned, the appc compilation fails. If I
don't - the application fails to deploy not being able to find
those tables.
There must be a way to specify that the app server should
escape those table names. Can You help?
KlausHello. Thx for response.
I have tried something like
exec 'INSERT INTO "tuser"."dam.test.db::tuser.procedures.search_result" SELECT '''||table_name||''' AS TABLE_NAME, '||column_name||' AS ID, SCORE() AS SCORE FROM '||table_name||' WHERE contains(*, '''||keyword||''', fuzzy(0.5))';
but here i have "tuser"."dam.test.db::tuser.procedures.search_result" created before the execution. What i really want is to make it as a local variable. Something like:
DECLARE schema_name NVARCHAR(300) := 'tuser';
indexed_tables = SELECT DISTINCT "TABLE_NAME" FROM "SYS"."FULLTEXT_INDEXES" WHERE "SCHEMA_NAME" = :schema_name ;
but i can not transform the top 'exec ...' statement into 'result = SELECT ...' because it always says that it can not pass the scalar value into the 'FROM ...' part. -
Hi,
I am porting a program to use Oracle 10g database. (previously mssql server).
I noted that some existing sql statements becomes errorneous after porting.
Examples below.
select '' as number from log;
select '' as level from log;
I get the sql error:
ORA-00923: FROM keyword not found where expected
These statements are parsed perfectly in MSSQL server.
Did i step onto something forbidden in oracle?
Please advice.The column alias specification can't be used tougether with '*' symbol but
only with particular column:
SQL> desc t
Name Null? Type
ID NUMBER
SQL> select id as nm from t;
no rows selected
SQL> select * as nm from t;
select * as nm from t
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00923: FROM keyword not found where expected As for the rest of Rod's post it is quite correct - number and level
are reserved keywords and can't be used as column aliases.

Is bg a reserved keyword in AS2 ?
Hi there!
I use Flash 8
In my ASPanel, colored coding marks my variable bg as a
keyword (like true or undefined or _visible, etc).
I didn't find any warning about the string "bg" in the Flash
Help.
Could somebody light my lantern?Since I noticed the problem, I have closed and reopen my file
almost ten times.
And it is still there.
My question is one of simple curiosity because I didn't
noticed any malfunction or error related to this "problem". And
when I output my .swf, the output panel doesn't show any error.
This is mystery for me...
Why the h... is this word colored?

How do I find all pictures with no (empty) keyword ?
I have decided to import all my pictures into LightRoom.
A lot of my older pictures are not registered with any keywords :(
- only with IPTC location information.
My plan is to systematic go through all my pictures and add relevant keywords to all pictures - so my old pictures become as searchable as my newest pictures.
Some of my old pictures has keywords some has not.
How do I in Lightroom - find all pictures with no keywords?
I have tried to use the Find tool - but don't see any options to search for "Empty/missing" keywords.
Also I would like to find all pictures with few keywords and in step II add additional keywords to these pictures.
Any ideas on how to make a find all pictures where number of keywords is less than X inside or outside LightRoom.
Henrik Bach
Denmark> I also did think of the SQL idea.
> If I find a way of doing this I will repost my findings.
Well, being a tech geek, I found this challenge kind of irresistible,
and I'm happy to report I have a solution for you.
STEP 1
First, make a copy of your "Lightroom Database.lrdb" file (we'll work
off the copy to be safe)
STEP 2
Next, you need to be able to browse the database. The database is in
SQLite3 format. I tried installiing an SQLite3 ODBC driver and accessing
it through MS Access 2003. While Access was able to see all of the
tables in the database, every time I tried to link to one I got:
"Reserved error (-7748); there is no message for this error"
I found a few tips for this but wasn't able to work around it and get it
to work. Which is a shame, since Access would be the easiest way for
browsing and querying tables.
Instead I found an open source tool called SQLite Database Browser.
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=87946&package_id=91778&release_id=41 4746
I used the Windows version. There appears to be a version for MacOSX on
PowerPC. It doesn't look like there is a version for Intel based Macs
(though if you know how, you could always try downloading the source and
compiling it yourself).
STEP 3
After you install the browser, open it up, choose "Open Database" and
select the COPY of the lightroom database we made in step 1
STEP 4
go to the Execute SQL tab and issue the following command
SELECT A.idx_filename, count(C.name)
FROM Adobe_imageFiles A, AGLibraryTagImage B, AGLibraryTag C
WHERE A.image=B.image AND B.tag=C.id_local AND C.kindName='AgKeywordTagKind'
GROUP BY A.idx_filename
HAVING count(C.name) <= 3
That will give you all images with 3 or fewer keywords applied.
Of course, theres no guarantee that this wont break in future versions.
Now an explanation of the data.
Adobe_imageFiles - contains data about image files:
1) idx_filename is the filename
2) absolutePath is the full file path
3) image is a unique ID for the image which you can cross reference in
other image related tables
AGLibraryTag - contains info about "tags" applied to images:
1) id_local is a unique ID for this "tag", which you can use to cross
reference in other tag tables
2) kindName is the kind of tag you are looking at. Available values
appear to be:
AgCaptionTagKind
AgCollectionTagKind
AgCopyrightTagKind
AgEnumeratedMetadataTagKind
AgFolderTagKind
AgImportTagKind
AgKeywordTagKind
AgMissingFileTagKind
AgQuickCollectionTagKind
AgSpecialContentOwningTagKind
AgTempImagesTagKind
3) name is the value for that tag (the collection name, the keyword, etc)
AGLibraryTagImage - Use this to connect the images and tags tables -
ABAP/4 Keywords for all SAP R/3 Versions
Hello Experts,
Is there any DB Table available in Data Dictionary where all these ABAP/4 Keywords available; if yes do please let me know if not available then do please provide me with all ABAP/4 Keywords of all versions of SAP R/3 if possible
points will be awarded if helpful.
Thanks in AdvanceHello Arif,
There no particular table to check all the key words in ABAP.
To check system fields Go for
Se11-- SYST.
TO get the key words go to ABAPDOCU- type ur required key word in the search given in the last section.
The best option would be to debug ABAPDOCU, when you do a click on Keywords
Or Check the Pooled table : TSE05
As you must be knowing ABAPDOCU is in SABAPDOCU Package.....!!
There are a number of tables used; like ABTREE,etc !
Explore and find whether you can get some clue!

I need information on the DEFINE keyword on plSQL. There is a package which has definitions as below
DEFINE A = &1
DEFINE B = &2
DEFINE C = &3
Begin
End;/
The data for this being substituted through a .bat file whose content is as below
sqlplus wedb/wedbo@ORACLE1 @D:\test\test1\auto_run.sql WS Y OE
pause
So I need information on how to pass "NULL" value on this last parameter C, Thank youFor cases like this I use "script launcher":
C:\>type c:\temp\sqlplus_script_launcher.sql
DEFINE S="&1"
DEFINE 1=''
DEFINE 2=''
DEFINE 3=''
DEFINE 4=''
DEFINE 5=''
DEFINE 6=''

DEFINE 8=''
DEFINE 9=''
DEFINE 10=''
DEFINE 11=''
DEFINE 12=''
DEFINE 13=''
DEFINE 14=''
DEFINE 15=''
DEFINE 16=''
DEFINE 17=''
DEFINE 18=''
DEFINE 19=''
DEFINE 20=''
@&sNo assume I have a script:
C:\>type c:\temp\x.sql
DEFINE A="&1"
DEFINE B="&2"
DEFINE C="&3"
SET NULL "This value is NULL"
COLUMN C FORMAT A20
SELECT '&A' A,'&B' B,'&C' C FROM DUAL
EXITTo execute x.sql I would use "script launcher":
C:\>sqlplus scott/tiger @c:\temp\set_null_params "c:\temp\x WS Y OE"

C:\>There is also a way to define SQL*Plus substitution variable if it is not defined and leave substitution variable value as is if it is defined. It is posted in Russian Edition of Oracle Magazine August/September 2003 issue, so you will need google translator, or simply look for NVL.SQL script.

When I made Firefox 3.6.2 my default browser, it changed the icons for my .htm & .html files to the fox&globe symbol - how do I change back to my old red dragon symbol? Folder options doesn't work, the icon for the file type changes in folder options, but has no effect on the icon displayed by Windows XP Explorer. Changing registry entries for DefaultIcon from ...\firefox.exe,1 to ....\mozilla.ico also failed, the WxExplorer icons changed to a generic symbol. Thanks, [email protected]
search keyword axolotlWith the help of information from user, ptressel, in [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1032154#answer-673322 a post here about the existence of sessionstore.js when version 33 was released], I was able to easily recover my tabs and tab groups as follows:
# close Firefox and, perhaps, allow a few seconds (30s?) for any final closing of files;
# check to see if you have a sessionstore.js file in your profile folder, named like the one I documented in my original post above;
# if it is not timestamped prior to the discovery of your problem, open the sessionstore-backups folder;
# check if the recovery.js file is suitably timestamped and, if not, the recovery.bak.
# At this point, you are likely to find that none of them are prior to your problem occuring. If so, open your backups of this folder and go through steps 2-4 to find a file prior to your problem occuring.
# When you find a file, copy it to the root of your current profile folder and name it, "sessionstore.js"
# Open Firefox. Mine opened up as desired.
This is a Windows solution. Sorry I can't comment on other platforms, but I'd bet that as this is just a file copy and renaming, it is likely the same.
For Windows users, you may find you need to sign out and login as an administrator in order to access the backups. You need not logoff your standard account, but do have Firefox closed as described above.
Hope that helps. -
Illegal use of keyword "SELECT"...
Hi,
I am new to TimesTen and using version 11.2 with Hibernate.
I get the following error while running my application--
*01 Feb 2011 12:03:29,201 [WARN] org.hibernate.util.JDBCExceptionReporter: SQL Error: 7025, SQLState: 37000*
*01 Feb 2011 12:03:29,201 [ERROR] org.hibernate.util.JDBCExceptionReporter: [TimesTen][TimesTen 11.2.1.7.0 ODBC Driver][TimesTen]TT7025: Illegal use of reserved keyword "SELECT", character position: 459 -- file "ptSqlY.y", lineno 8158, procedure "reserved_word_or_syntax_error"*
Would really appreciate some help as tyo how to fix this problem.I've spoken to various folks today about this. I'm not a Hibernate / TT dialect expert by any means. However, this SQL is a (sort of) documented restriction in TimesTen. This usage of SELECT is a 'derived table' and, unlike Oracle and many other databases, TimesTen currently only supports these in the FROM clause but not in other places such as, here, a projection list.
So, it's not a bug but a limitation of our current SQL implementation.
With regards to where it's coming from, based on the info that is provided, we think that the source of this SQL error is not directly from Hibernate or from the Hibernate dialect class that the application uses. We think this scalar subquery in the select list is defined in a Hibernate mapping document as something called a derived property.
In Hibernate, Java object fields are usually mapped to table columns using a property element within the hibernate-mapping element like this:
<hibernate-mapping>
<class name="com.timesten.tptbmas.Tptbm" table="TPTBM">
<composite-id name="key" class="com.timesten.tptbmas.TptbmPKey">
<key-property name="vpn_id" column="vpn_id" />
<key-property name="vpn_nb" column="vpn_nb"/>
</composite-id>
<property name="directory_nb" column="directory_nb"/>
<property name="last_calling_party" column="last_calling_party"/>
<property name="descr" column="descr"/>
</class>
</hibernate-mapping>
This is the usual case, however, it is also possible to map Java object fields to 'derived' values from the database table. These 'derived' values are expressions in the select list instead of simple column references.
A 'derived' property is defined in the property element using the 'formula' attribute.
For example:
<property name="descr" formula="'VPN ' || TO_CHAR (VPN_ID) || ' extension ' || TO_CHAR (VPN_NB)"/>
The value of 'formula' is any valid SQL expression that can appear in the select list.
Our belief is that you are defining a scalar subquery for 'formula'. For example:
<property name="descr" formula="(SELECT COUNT (*) FROM DUAL)"/>
And this generates the error when executed against TimesTen.
The solution is to rewrite 'formula' using a select list expressions that TimesTen supports - or change things to avoid the need for a derived property in the select list.
If this doesn't solve it, it's probably best to log an SR so we can obtain various files from you that we would need to look into it further.
