    'dir' only represents the working directory of the process, it has no bearing on where the executable is looked for. So if the executable isn't on your PATH (or one or two other well-known places) it won't get found.
    To do what you want, you need to specify a full path to the exe - in this case converting 'dir' to a string and pre-pending it to the exe name should do the trick.

  • Create an executable file

    I have created and build a project. How can I create an executable file to run the whole package?

    In general, you can't. Java programs have to be run under the jvm so you have to run the java command every time.
    You can package your project as a runnable jar file. How you run it depends on your opperating system.

  • Creating an executable

    Hi, I want to create an executable program or launcher for the application i have built in java. I want to turn the java class files into something that a inexperienced user could execute simply. Are there tools to do this?
    Many thanks.
    Martin

    Haijsk,
    That's a pretty nice trick. Straightforward, and simple to use. The one problem is that it opens a console window under Windows. :-( As a result, you inspired me to write this piece of code:
    #include <windows.h>
    #define MY_APP_NAME "MyApp"
    #define MY_APP_EXEC "javaw -jar myapp.jar"
    int WINAPI WinMain(HINSTANCE hInstance, HINSTANCE hPrevInstance, LPSTR lpCmdLine, int nCmdShow)
            STARTUPINFO startup_info;
            PROCESS_INFORMATION process_info;
            BOOL valid;
            int result;
            startup_info.cb = sizeof(startup_info);
            startup_info.lpReserved = NULL;
            startup_info.lpDesktop = NULL;
            startup_info.lpTitle = NULL;
            startup_info.dwX = 0;
            startup_info.dwY = 0;
            startup_info.dwXSize = 0;
            startup_info.dwYSize = 0;
            startup_info.dwXCountChars = 0;
            startup_info.dwYCountChars = 0;
            startup_info.dwFillAttribute = 0;
            startup_info.dwFlags = STARTF_FORCEONFEEDBACK;
            startup_info.wShowWindow = NULL;
            startup_info.cbReserved2 = 0;
            startup_info.lpReserved2 = NULL;
            startup_info.hStdInput = NULL;
            startup_info.hStdOutput = NULL;
            startup_info.hStdError = NULL;
            valid = CreateProcess(
                    NULL,
                    MY_APP_EXEC,
                    NULL,
                    NULL,
                    FALSE,
                    CREATE_DEFAULT_ERROR_MODE,
                    NULL,
                    NULL,
                    &startup_info,
                    &process_info
            if(!valid)
                    result = MessageBox(NULL, "Failed to launch the application. Please make sure that a JVM of 1.3 or higher is installed.", MY_APP_NAME, MB_OK);
            return 0;
    }Just change MY_APP_NAME and MY_APP_EXEC to meet your needs and away you go. :-)

  • How to create an executable for Windows or Unix

    Hi,
    I would like to know how to do to create an executable, an application which is able to work under windows for exemple without installing a JVM ?
    (When you download a program which was writing in java on internet it is an executable. You don't need a JVM on your system to run it. I would like to do the same thing...)
    thanks

    Hi C,
    I think they use JToExe.exe to compile the java project but I think they need a JVM to run the application. I just wanted to know if it is possible to run an application without JVM after any compilation. When we find an executable, most of the time is it a Visual project ? (in c or other langage ?) I will work later for a company which develop a new application in Java. To put it on the market they need to do an executable.
    Thanks for your time

  • Create the executable jar's file

    Hi guys,
    I am working on java desktop's application where a user will be able to run the application by double click the executable jar file. I followed the description of "Creating and Deploying a Simple Archive to Your File System of the help. After creating the jar file and when I double click on jar file to run the application I got this error message "Could not find the main class. Program will exit". I was not also able to run the application on the dos command.
    Please help. I don't have any problem when I run from Jdeveloper 9.0.4. I have window XP professional.
    Your input will be very welcomed.

    OK open up your deployed Jar file in something like Winzip and have a look at the Manifest.MF in meta-inf\
    I've just created an executable JAR with a main class of mypackage1.Class1 and it all ran ok. Here's the manifest:
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Main-Class: mypackage1.Class1
    Created-By: Oracle9i JDeveloper 9.0.2So make sure your's is similar and your Main-class looks the same - e.g. does not say something like:
    Main-Class: mypackage1.Class1.class

    Anyone can help?

    Given that you are running this in Clover Server, one thing I can recommend is to shut that server down, move/truncate the logs, restart and retest, then look at the first error message you get when attempting to run the graph.  Java classloaders sometimes cache failed class clinit and report future attempts to load that class as a simple NoClassDefFoundError, masking the original/actual root cause.  With any luck you might find another, clearer error - maybe the native binary libraries are not being located.

  • How to Create adf table from java bean

    Hi,
    How to Create adf table from java class (Not from ADF BC).
    Thanks
    Satya

    @vlsn -- you have to follow what shay said.
    Do the following in Model layer ::
    create a table property java class with your columns setters and getters like :
    *public class gridProps {*
    private int sno;
    private String orderNum;
    *public void setSno(int sno) {*
    this.sno = sno;
    *public int getSno() {*
    return sno;
    *public void setOrderNum(String orderNum) {*
    this.orderNum = orderNum;
    *public String getOrderNum() {*
    return orderNum;
    Create another table java class which will populate the values to your column values and return the collection :
    *public class gridPopulate {*
    private  List<gridProps> gridValues ;
    *public List<gridProps> setToGrid(ArrayList<ArrayList> valuesToSet) {*
    *if (valuesToSet == null) {*
    return gridValues;
    gridValues = new ArrayList<gridProps>();
    if(btnValue.equals("completeBtn"))
    return gridValues;
    for(ArrayList<String> tempArr:valuesToSet)
    gridProps gp = new gridProps();
    gp.setSno(Integer.valueOf(tempArr.get(0)));
    gp.setOrderNum(tempArr.get(1));
    return gridValues;
    Right click gridPopulate class and create this as data control.This class will be seen in Data control list.Under this data control,Drag the grid property collection(created earlier) to your page.Then execute your binding(gridPopulate) according to your logic.
    Thanks.(My jdev version 11.1.1.5.0)

  • How do I create an executable file?

    How exactly do I create an executable file from my .java file?

    I've tried to run it from the DOS prompt two ways.
    If I type "java -jar Plist" (Plist is the .jar file
    name, the .java file name, and the class name), It
    says...
    Exception in thread "main" java.util.zip.ZipException:
    The system cannot find the file specifiedThat seems pretty clear - there is no file called "Plist" and that's it. "The system cannot find the file specified."
    If I type "java -jar Plist.jar", It says...
    Exception in thread "main"
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Plist
    Two questions...
    1. What am I doing wrong??Two possibilities, I'd put my money on the first one:
    1. That jar file of yours really doesn't contain a class called Plist. Check the contents with "jar -tf Plist.jar". The file Plist.class (along with other stuff you put in the jar) should be listed.
    2. If it is listed, your classpath may be set wrong - can you run the app with "java -classpath Plist.jar Plist"?
    2. Once I get this .jar deal to work, will I be able
    to run it on other computers? It seems to be tied in
    with some of the Java utilities and files on my
    computer. Is it independent like a .exe file or not?No, it's not independent like a .exe file. It's a lot more independent than any .exe file. Ever tried running them on a Mac? Linux? Solaris? Anything else than windoze? On a windoze system that's older than recommended, like on win95 instead of 2k?
    The independence of java class files packed in jars is on the level of xml, pdf and postscript files - you can use them everywhere. To be more exact, on every system that has a "viewer" for those files; in java's case the "viewer" is the runtime environment. Once it's installed the files can be run like other programs on the system.

  • Problem with creating f60runx executable.

    Hi,
    I am trying to compile and create f60runx executable to create runtime version to include the user exists. For some reason I am getting an Undefined symbol error. To compile this I am using ins_form60w.mk and env_forms60.mk from /oracle/dev60 directory.
    Does anyone know how to resolve this error? What changes do I need to make to make it working?

    Pardon me for stating the obvious here, but an executable JAR file has the "Main-Class:" header in its manifest file. This is explained in the "JAR Files" trail of the "Java Tutorial":
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/jar/index.html
    Have you read that?
    Are the classes in package "org.netbeans.lib.awtextra" also in your (executable) JAR file? If not, then the class loader needs to be able to access that package. There are several ways to accomplish that, for example, using the "Class-Path:" header in your (executable) JAR file's mainfest. Again, the above tutorial has more details.
    Hope this has helped you.
    Good Luck,
    Avi.
