To find actual name of field

hi
how can we find the name of the actual field in table from erp form
eg there is a field EST_QTY
when i check record history it says that this field belongs to table XXNP_OPN_JOBLOG_EST_002
when i check the table i cannot find a column named EST_QTY
kindly help

Hi,
To be certain of which is the table column linked to a form field you would need to open the form, check if the block is table source and which is the column linked to the field. In case you don't have forms builder, usually a good guess is to check if there is a column with the same name as the field in the table shown in record history (that is what you did). If that fails, maybe there is a column with similar name like ESTIMATED_QTY or EST_QUANTITY.
But sometimes the field in the form is not being pulled from a table/view column (for instance, if it's a calculation based on other fields). In that case you will have to open the form to know how it's being populated.
Hope it helps.

  • How to find table name and field name thru Tcode

    Hi,
how to find out table name and field names thru transaction code..........plz point out step by step.

    Hi
I am not getting your question... as i understand, if you go to SE84 tcode you can get it.
Go to SE84.Select ABAP Dictionary sub tree. Double click on "database tables'. Give some number in "Maximum number of hits”. DONT GIVE ANY OTHER INPUTS. Just press F8. You will get all table names.
For fields also do like this by selecting FIELDS sub tree.

  • Finding table name from field

    Hi,
I have a field name. Now i want to find to which table this field belongs to.
eg: I have field MATNR. Now in my program i want to find to which table this field belongs to.
    How can this be done?
    Points will be rewarded!!
    regards,
    Ashish Gupta

    Hi,
Basically the same field is used in so many tables like mara,marc,mard,vbap...
But for matnr , MARA is the master table. It means entry should be there in mara table .but no need of entry in other tables like mrac,mard,vbap..etc.
But some times this value is picked from other tables also not only from mara to get other corresponding values like storage location or sales order number..etc.
Program may access other tables also depending on requirement.
so just check in the program from which database table this value is getting populated using SELECT stmt .
you can put breakpoint at all the select stmt and debugg the program.you will get noticed from which database table its getting populated and from which table its value getting processed.
Like suppose we use select stmt on vbap to get sales order number and then we goto MARD table to get corresponing storage location.
so finally we will get the value from MARD table.
just i will write simple code .
data:it_mara like mara occurs 0 with header line.
data:it_vbap  like vbap occurs 0 with header line.
data:it_mard  like mard occurs 0 with header line.
    start-of-selection.
select * from mara into table it_mara up to 100 rows.
    if not it_mara[] is initial.
select * from mara into table it_vbap
    for all entries in it_mara
    where matnr = it_mara-matnr.
    endif.
    if not it_vbap[] is initial.
select * from mard into table it_mard
    for all entries in it_vbap
    where matnr = it_vbap-matnr.
    endif.
    loop at it_mard.
    write: /  it_mard-matnr,it_mard-lgort.
    endloop.
so finally we are printing matnr from mard table eventhough matnr exists in mara table also.

  • How to find table name for the fields from Standard Extractor in CRM system

How to find table name of fields from the standard extractor in CRM system ?
e.g. We use LBWE TCode in R/3 system to find table name for the field from Extractor VCSCL(e.g.).

    Hi ,
Please find the link below for understanding BW CRM analysis.
    http://help.sap.com/bp_biv135/html/bw.htm
activate the CRM DSs by scenario:
    1) Activate the application component hierarchy (tcode RSA9). Changes made to the application component hierarchy in the CRM system can be transferred to the BW using the "Edit Application Component Hierarchy" (SBIW - Postprocessing of DataSources).
SAP Note 434886 must be implemented in CRM 3.0 before the application component hierarchy is activated.
    2) Activate the Business Content DataSources (tcode RSA5).
Select/enter the application component and choose Execute (F8).
To compare the shipped and active versions, choose the 'Select Delta' pushbutton. If there is no active version of the DataSource, it is selected automatically.
To activate the shipped version, choose the 'Transfer DataSources' pushbutton.
    3) Management of the versions of the BW-Adapter metadata (tcode BWA5). All DataSources are displayed that are managed by the BW Adapter.
As in transaction RSA5 (Service API Metadata Activation), the 'Select Delta' function can be used to select the inactive DataSources or compare shipped and active versions.
You can also go directly to the screen for maintaining DataSources that are managed by the BW Adapter.
The 'Compare Version' function makes a detailed comparison of the shipped and active versions.
All BW-Adapter metadata is considered when versions are compared:
    Header information (Table SMOXHEAD)
    Mapping information (Table SMOXRELP)
    Global selection conditions (Table SMOXGSEL)
    Attribute key fields (Table SMOXAFLD)
    Hope this helps.

  • Table name from field

    Dear Sapers,
How to find table name from field name to write functional spec.Pl elaborate it for normal & zdevelopment.Points will be rewarded for useful answer.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Uday,
Just for the sake of help this reply......
You can find the name of tables by using F1 button keeping cursor on the respective field that you want to bring in development. From there you have to move to Technical details through technical details button.
If that field or values are getting saved into some structure then you have to search the right database tables. According to your module many database tables are there (that you can search from sdn.sap.com directly). That totally depends on your report/development that you want to bring in......
In any development deciding the right table for start up ( I mean to say tables that will give you input fields in your FS) is critical, latter you have to search linking tables and have to give logic about how to pass values from what to what field and what to what table..... In this case Transaction code SE11 and SE16 are useful......
This all is slightly confusing and tedious too...... Closely work with you ABAPer to get into many things and have successful development....
    Have nice development....
    Cheers!
    Abu Arbab

  • How to find where the screen field is stored in table

    Hi all,
How to find where the screen field  is stored in the table .
for some transactions if i press F1 on the field and after checking for the technical help.
I can only find the struture for the screen field, but whereas i need table name for it.
Can anybody help me how to find the table name where the field is stored.
    Regards,
    Madhavi

    Hi,
Just hitting a F1 on screen field and getting structure name will not help in getting table name.
First you need to know the flow of data in the reqd module, which will help you know all the tables in that module with there most of the fields with the data flow, now you need to work on your own to figure out that in which actual tables that value is stored.
    Hope this helps you.

  • Make "Find by Name" a default?

Finding the name of a file in Tiger is quite annoying (unless I'm annoying myself by doing it the hard way)
The way that I've been looking for filenames is command-f, change pull-down menu to "Name".
The pull-down menu is set to "Kind" - is there a way to make it default to "Name"?
I don't think it's just a case of not wanting to learn a new technique - I've always loved the "Hit Command-f and type the filename and hit enter" method of finding something quick. Sure beats Windows!
(BTW - anyone know how to actually type the command-key? I couldn't find it in the Special Characters menu)

You have to change a file that Find consults to make it do what you (and pretty much everyone else) want as the default behavior. I changed mine so that the two default fields are Name and Raw Query, and the view is List view rather than Groups. I used the MacOSXHints article as the basis for my modifications:
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20050501162147222
If you want to use my default_smart.plist it is here:
    http://homepage.mac.com/francines/.Public/default_smart.plist.zip
You unzip it, then replace the original (you'll need to give authorization first, and make sure to keep a copy of the original or rename the original to defaultsmartold to keep it where it is).
    "/System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/Resources/default_smart.plist"
After you've done this you'll want to run repair permissions then restart.

  • Find by Name can't be set as default?

When I hit command+F I get the Find window but it always defaults to Find By Content.
Can I make it default to Find By Name? From the search I did here in the forums there is no way but I thouht to ask again.
    Thanks in advance

While there isn't a thing you can do about the toolbar default, you CAN render it irrelevant. If you bring up the Find window using the shortcut of Command-Shift-F, then you will get "Name:Contains" with the cursor blinking in the blank entry field. Type the file name you want to find, and the results will be files whose actual file name contains whatever you typed. Furthermore, if you don't want to be bothered by using the shift key, you can go to System Prefs->Keyboard&Mouse->Shortcuts and reverse the two shortcuts, so that "Find..." with the "Kind" nonsense becomes Command-Shift-F, and "Find by Name..." is a simple Command-F. Restart the Finder after you make your changes, and then whenever you do Command-F you will get a search box with "Name:Contains" and the cursor blinking in the field for you to just type your search word-- the results will be files containing your word in their NAME, not the content.
There still ain't a dang thing you can do about the default of searching "This Mac" rather than the folder you were in when you invoked the search. Which is idiotic.

  • In Report Painter, need to find out how a field is defined.

I'm trying to find out how a field used in a current report is defined.  For example, columns 2-13 are monthly columns.  Double clicking on the column name (April), for example, brings up the box "Element Definition: April;$Year.  The Value Field is Net Sales.  Clicking the drop down box brings up a group of fields, including Net Sales.
The Field Name for Net Sales is MA0001.  How do I find out how this field is defined and what accounts are included in it?
Thanks for any help you can give.

    Hi,
Thank you for your answer.  I was able to track 'Net Sales' as a part of a Key Figure Structure and as an element of Key Figure 'Net Sales'.  However, when I get into CO-PA, Information System, there is no line for 'Report Components'.
There are the following lines/folders: Display Line Item List, Define Report,Current Settings, Background Processing.  I looked at all the possibilities in those line items/folders and nothing was there.  Is there another way to get at it?
    Thanks again.
