It seems to me that you as, editor-in-chief of Oracle Technology Network, could certainly clear me up.
The fact is that since a certain time OTN Forum became really slow or even unreachable. I realy often get messages like:
* Sorry, this page was not found. (ErrorDocument 404)
* Internal Server Error
So my question is, why is such a big company as Oracle, not able to set up a forum server which is a bit more stable?
Doesn't Oracle care about the bad image given through the slow and unstable OTN Forum?
From my side I can only say that I dont realy get your marketing strategie in this case.

New layout is a big step back

I am officially complaining about the new layout for Technet's home page. It used to have nice icons on the top that were of interest to me. Now, some of those icons are gone, particularly, the icon to the documentation. It is very hard to convince people that the Oracle documentation is a very good resource. It used to be easy to get to. But now, OTN has buried the link to the docs on the bottom right of the OTN home page. This is a step backward in my opinion. I could rant on the other aspects of this new layout that I don't like, but if you could fix the "documentation link" issue, it would be a start.

Brian...there are now hard-coded links to specific Documentation pages (eg, for Database 10g, App Server 10g, and JDev 10g) as well as the master Documentation index from the top-left corner of the Navigation bar on every page across OTN. This was not available previously.
Furthermore, the Documentation drop-down menu on the home page contains links to those specific pages as well.
We're confident that the new design will expose important content on OTN to greater numbers of visitors (and with less frustration), and our analysis to this point is already proving that out.
So we may have lost the Doc icon at the very top of the page, but we have gained a whole lot more in return.

BluRay: Toggle logo on/off while video plays

Hello,
Short Description of my situation: our company currently produces an image-video for a big energy-provider. the client asked me, if he could have one plain version of the video and one with the title of the film in the lower right corner and the companys logo in the upper left corner.
Now i thought with BluRay and PopUp menus and all there has to be a way, that the client can toggle the logo and the title on and off, while the video is playing… I had three ideas how to approach this:
Treat the logo as a subtitle file
I learned, that it is possible to import a simple graphic as a subtitle script, i tried this for hours yesterday and actually succeeded, but the image quality was so unbearably bad, that i had to discard that approach.
Afterwards i read in two different forums that it is simply not possible to achieve a better result at the time, but if anyone has an idea, how that could work good for me i would be very grateful. the logo is only one color, but it would have to be sharp.
Import four different videos: a plain one , one with the logo, one with the title and one with both. this could work, because the video is only about ten minutes long. The problem is, that i don't want the video to start from the beginning, every time the client wants to add the logo for instance, but keep on playing seamlessly( or NEARLY seamlessly) Do you know, if that is possible in Encore CS6??
Somehow treat the logo and the title as a PopUP menu. I could imagine that to work for me, though i think its not the perfect solution, since i don't know if the client can use the chapter buttons while in a PopUp menu, if the menu would disappear unwanted at some point or if it would be possible for the client to chose one version of the video from the start menu and so on.
I am not that advanced with Encore yet, especially not with PopUp menus, since there is no proper way to preview them in Encore. I am currently searching for a mac software that can emulate PopUp menus. Dear mister Stan Jones already told me about Arcsofts TotalMedia Theater, but i can't seem to get the trial version to work via crossover and i have no windows machine available...
Do you guys think, that Pop Up menus could work for me in this case??
I know that this effect is not necessary, but i think it would be a nice thing, also for future projects...

I do not hold out much hope for the popup solution.
Popups are a problem because they have no background, and that is the only place you can put graphics that are not subject to the highlight limitations.
But Blu-ray highlights are higher bit depth. Make sure you select rich color in menu properties. I do NOT know if this applies to popups, but I think it should.

What is our client really trying to do? If it is a promo piece, you would normally have the logo etc in all the time, or at particular points that are determined strategically. Perhaps he/she can't make up their mind? I would also consider a 3 video version: with, without, and strategic on/off.

Migration of Smartforms / SAPScript forms from SAP R/3 4.7 to SAP ECC 6.0

We are in process of re-implementing SAP with SAP ECC 6.0 from SAP R/3 version 4.7
We have created many layouts using SAPScripts & SAP Smartforms in SAP R/3.
My question is, are there any migration tools available in SAP ECC 6.0 in the form of function modules, BAPI etc to convert existing forms of Smartforms / SAPScripts created in SAP R/3 4.7 to SAP ECC 6.0 ?
Or do we have to design all existing forms created in R/3 once agin in SAP ECC 6.0 ?
We request our dear members to share their views on the above mentioned problems faced by us in the re-implementation project

Dear Friend,
As per our consultant's view, we are not upgrading from SAP R/3 4.7 to SAP ECC. We are re-implementing; that is, we are going to implement SAP ECC as if we are doing it for the first time ever in our company. This is due to drastic organizational changes happend in our company. So, upgrading from R/3 is not feasible solution, according to our consultants.
So, we have to re-configure all settings in SPRO manually in ECC based on our new business scenario. There will be new company codes, plants, business area etc., which will be totally different from existing R/3 system.
But the template definitions of the existing forms maintained in SAPScript / Smartforms will remain same.
There are 50+ forms (boith SAPScript / Smartforms put together) and manual re-designing of all those forms will be tedious within the scheduled date of GO Live.
In that case, to avoid re-designing, what is the best method that can prevent manual re-design of Smartforms?

Having trouble 'replacing colour' in Photoshop Elements 12 + help does not work?

I was trying to use the 'replace colour' function as found by going :-

Replace Colour
Not knowing how it worked, I tried the context sensitive help in light blue. 'Learn More About'
This would not load but gave me this response:-

This 'help' seems to work everywhere else [well at least in the places I have tried so far.]
So why is this? has anyone else had this specific area of HELP fail? I need to know is it just my system, is it accessing this HELP stuff over the net, or is it preloaded when you by the retail pack?
Course it would be in an area I can not make work!
Note Other areas of help in this general menu area work eg
i.e. the options either side of this all work fine.
Any views guidance welcome.

Except the replace colour, does not seem to end up with the colour I picked using the picker tool. Its as though it hads not replaced the colour but blended in the desired colour with the old incorrect colour!
Buy trial and error picking not the right colour but close - which when mixed with the existing colour is close.

The scenario is:- say a blonded mainly tanned model a high cut [at the hips] corsette style basque, with an ultra low bra line.
Our dear model, has just come back from St Barts with a fabulous Tan, and equally striking bold Tan lines!.
So we have great tanned legs, then the 'porcelain white band' where her swimsuit was.
Likewise we have a tanned face, and arms, shoulders etc and a great tan on the top of the cleavage, then it stops, white band to the top of the ultralow cut bra line of the basque.
She must have lived in like the most conservative bikini on the planet [50's style], for 2 weeks!
Had she had a normal skimpy bikini on, no problem!
If i don't solve it, she will get fired!

Just before posting this message, I saw a few comments about N97, and I can understand exactly the disappointment and frustration these users are, because for the past 4 months, these are the agonies I experienced.
Want to reiterate, over the past 9 years, I only use Nokia phones, impressed with each phone that I change, the functionality, the speed, their thoughtfulness for users, reliability. All until I made the ultimate mistake of changing to a 5800XM
Just want to ask, how did the development of the S60 5th edition go about. Because I still feel that each screen, each module is designed by a seperate person. What do I mean?
For example, Writing a SMS has a different layout for different language. Writing in English and other language for example, different screen [of course I notice there is only left and right button for English and 'Up down left right' buttons for other languages. The Green Tick placement is different.
I don't know how other Nokia users feel, but being in an area whereby we do use multiple language to write and reply SMS, this is terribly irritating.
Why am I irritated? Simple reason being, in the other phones [eg 6280], simple, phones give better User Interface [UI], consistent, functional, well thought out. And here suppose to be a new phone, and the functionality has gone back equivalent of 5 years ago.
Guess these modules are written by 2 different person, and they both have never shared on how to improve the module together. Plus I guess the author of these modules come from an area whereby they will only write SMS in one language only and never experience how users need to switch between languages, or even multiple languages within 1 SMS.
I can expect people helping Nokia to explain.. oh.. it's a new software on S60 5 EDITION. Things are new, lots of development needed, untested. What I cannot understand is, even if they just had followed their previous successful formula of UI, what could be wrong? Just because it is a new software, functionality has to suffer a total loss?
Also the excuse of 'oh, you must understand, this is touch based, and it is different'. I find it one of the worst excuse. Touch based means more intuitive. So Why can't it just be the same level of functionality, with only having to touch. Instead, they come up with new formats which they try to be creative with their UI and failed miserably.
Challenge for the dear people at Nokia who did the UI for 5800 [and now N97 I guess since they use the same software].
1) Select a user in your phonebook and prepare to send him/her a SMS.
2) Write a SMS in English, but suddenly you need to key in 10 characters in Chinese.
3) Click on the Green Tick.
4) Stare hard at the USER name, and can you tell me the mobile number you are sending out to? Do you know you are sending out to the correct number if the user had 2 mobile numbers, one landline number, one office number, one fax number in the phone book. Stare hard and tell me it has never occured to you , you may just need to see the number beside the USER name, just to make sure it is the correct number.
Challenge 2
1) Key in your best friend number to send him/her a SMS.
2) Send out the SMS.
3) Look at the Sent box.
4) See your best friend's name? NO!!!!!... you see your best friend's number only? BUt hey, wait a minute.. I also have his number in the PhoneBook. Why do I see the number here?
5) Oh, of course if I wanted to see the name displayed out, I will have to select his name from the phonebook, select send SMS to him, only then will I see the name displayed in the SENT box.
6) Yes yes, I can see this is a new feature, because in the other phones, with actual keypads, this has never been seen before. Numbers keyed in are recogznised by the names if they are in the PHONEBOOK list.
Challenge 3
1) Select Adaptive Search functionality.
2) Select on your PhoneBook
3) Select on the bar to search for Steven [or anyone that starts with a S]
4) Wow, all the letters pop up for you to select the key. Yes, it is a fantastic idea.
5) Ok, you found your friend's name and called him.
6) Ok.. Now go to SMS, and you can't remember his number. Select the search bar.
7) Please don't tell me you don't see the difference in the screen. Coz most likely you will see that the alphabet ends with R, and you will have to switch to the 2nd page to find the S.
8) Please be honest to us, and to yourself. Do you find that intuitive? Do you enjoy going to the second page in the SMS mode, but you get the full list for the phonebook.
9) Or is it because it is possible that different modules are done by different person who don't bother to review and see if they could have programmed it consistently?

1) Has anyone notice how big and friend the alphanumeric keypad for SMS is? [admist all the inconsistency of different language]
2) Big nice buttons for us to press. Nice
3) Think the developer just like nice big buttons to press on the screen. But wait a minute, I need to SMS, and I'm in the SMS mode.
4) Look at the display of SMS. 4 lines [use small fonts and you get 5 or 6]. Wonderful, I get to see 6 lines maximum, and but WOW!!! I get BIG NICE numeric keypad to press - something that took up 3 QUARTERS of my wonderful huge over 3" display screen.
5) Maybe the developers felt, why would you want to key in so many lines of text. All you need is nice big buttons to press.
6) Maybe some will argue, this is to make it friendly, nice and easy to key in. Or, there's limitations to how big or small the buttons can be.
7) True, but hey.. look at the calculator layout. Yah I agree, there are some buttons which are different from the alphanumeric keypad for SMS, but look the layout and size. And look at the number of lines of display.. Don't you think that you would like to see that much of your text [if you had key in 160 characters?]
8) Or would you rather write your message, missed out something in the front of your message , press the NICE GREEN TICK BUTTON, see it displayed on a full page, select the area, then go into the TINY TEENY WEENY space, position the cursor with those NICE HUGE LEFT RIGHT [UP DOWN buttons also if you hare in different language mode} to that area which you need to change on that tiny text area.
9) Doesn't it feel good?
8) If you tell me the calculator is functional at that sizing using the keypad, what is so different from SMS texting?
9) If I know better, the keypad layouts and sizing should be interchanged between the functionality.
I guess, no one at Nokia will ever bother to read these. , or even admit to seeing all these comments.
Some can brush these comments aside.. "We can't please everyone", or "These are just wishlist. We have to look at the big picture", or "Customers will never be satisfied" or "Don't worry, they COULD be included in the next FIRMWARE update".
Or all they need to do is to believe once again that " we design phones to be used and enjoyed by everyone" and not "my developers has to do this this way , so be it"
I was curious about other touch phones, so I took a look at the various SamSang a song that was LeallyGood. First time user of their phone, and I was enjoying the intiutiveness. Guess that is what our dear Nokia developers lack, the "Human Touch". After all , they are the largest phone company in the world. Maybe they will bother about their customers and supporters, fans when they drop to being the 2nd, 3rd ,4th or last
But at least I must still admit, speed wise, 5800XM is still quite acceptable [when compared to the N96 which I made the mistake of buying in replacement to my 5800XM]. Imagine how I feel, to get 2 phones that gives nothing but headaches, heartaches, being rediculed when people see you using a Nokia phone. Double regret within 6 months. Have you waited 3 secs to respond to your selection. And the number of reboots, hanged up application, unresponsiveness..
Anyway, I'll leave my gripe about N96 till a later stage. It' s not a problem with symbian S60 V5 or V3 or whatever programs. It is a lack of "HUMAN" in the company that is causing all the problems.
Why am I frustrated. All I see solutions around is " Oh!!! Have you upgraded to the latest firmware", "Do a *#7780*, do a *#7470*, if you can't solve it, send it to CUstomer Care. Same solution to different problems? Ever think about the root of the problem?
Firmwares frequency. Too much and nothing gets changed except "stability issues, better camera quality". What a joke, you get a phone with 3.2megapixel inbuilt... and the first pictures you take is horrible. Then with updates in firmware, the pictures gets better. Why on earth was it first released with horrible quality pictures and improved with updates? Is camera function something new for the company? Or no one bothered to test the product before launch?
Or wait for 6 months for a huge update [to clear 4 dozen faults, problems,]. In the meantime, the company is trying to say "Oh well, too bad you bought a reduced function phone. If you want the phone to work like a real phone, please wait till we accumulated enough problems from feedbacks, my developers has time to rectify the problems and we will release the updates when the time is right. If you cannot wait, please buy our latest phone [for eg. N97], which solves some of the problems you are facing right now, but has 3 dozen of new problems"
By the way, I've been to Nokia Customer Care since the 1st week of buying the phone. I've already visited Nokia Customer Care 6 times over 6 months. Not too much, about once a month. I guess that's quite acceptable to most people? Or is it?
I really wonder, what phones do the developers at Nokia use if they need to purchase a phone. And I mean purchase like everyone else. And I'm really interested to know what phone does the boss of Nokia uses. If he had seen all these problems, would he use it still.

Tacacs do not function in Nexus 5000

By someone reason, the Tacas is not functioning in my Nexus 5000. I am using the next configuration :

I did a telnet to port 49, in address , and is functioning. That discard a Security problem (FW, ACL, etc).
When I do the test, nothing is showed in the Tacacs Logs Server.
The log messages are the next:

You config looks fine. Can you ping from VLAN5 to TACACS+? Also, did you add VLAN5's IP address to your TACACS+.

E7 Problem with outgoing calls

Hi, I own the E7 for the last 5 months or so, but since 1 month after purchase, my phone's outgoing calls switched off completely and even after the normal tries of restarting the phone etc. it didn't turn on again. It does not go through at all and says no answer. However, I could send sms, receive calls and also access the internet. I checked with vodafone and they confirmed that there was no problem from their side and all bills payments were received by them on time.
So I decided to replace the SIM with my friend's SIM and use the phone. Surprisingly, the outgoing calls were on. After that I again put my old SIM back into the phone and the outgoing calls started working fine. The problem now is that this turning off of the outgoing calls is happening too frequently.
I asked Nokia care to look into this and they did nothing but reloaded the software, but this was of no avail. Couple of days back, I got the phone upgraded to Symbian anna. However this problem is still not solved and is frequent as before.
Can anyone help me understand what the real problem might be? And what is the right solution?

sometimes, E7 does not like old sim cards or sim cards with specific configuration, or cards with some minor scratches from frequently changing phones.
try changing the sim card.
there could also be a mechanical problem in the sim slot which can and will be overlooked by our dear nokia care liners.

Problem with Upload PEM certificate

Error: File not of recognized types - PEM, DER or PKCS12, import failed
Well. I have a little question.
a) The file is .PEM. Why is the reason for failed import?
b) I have a doubt. In this case we need to migrate certificates and key from the server toward the ACE.
The server is AIX IPLanet. The repository are key3.db / cert8.db
In this case, what need to do the customer, in order to can migrate in PEM type toward the ACE.

1. We need to provide CSR & key to CA.
2. CA provides us the certicate and that we need to upload on ACE.

Baltimore, Maryland Yes, you can add radio stations to iTunes. However, you cannot add the radio stations to the Radio source in the source list. You only have the ability to add radio stations into the Library source.
You can always make a Smart Playlist, though, and name it something such as My Radio Stations or a name of your choice. What this will do is organize all of your personal radio stations that are not listed in the "Radio" source and create easy access and some organization to your downloaded internet radio stations in iTunes. To find internet radio stations, here are a few links:

UK Radio Stations

Radio-Locator (not the best for locating online radio feeds)
There are other sites, of course. When you go to these sites, you will see lists of internet radio stations. To get the station of your choice into iTunes, you will need to download either the .pls, .m3u, or .mp3 file from that station. Once the file has downloaded, find it on your computer and double-click it. This should open iTunes. Note: XM Radio Online will not work for this. If it ever does work, I will update this. Sorry! If not, drag the file into iTunes Library and it will import into your library. Now, onto organizing and creating the Smart Playlist of your internet radio stations.
To create a Smart Playlist based on the internet radio stations you have downloaded, go to File > New Smart Playlist. A window will appear asking you for information. Make sure the Match the following condition: box is checked. From the first drop down menu, choose Kind. From the second drop down menu, choose is. To the right of that is a blank field where you can enter in what kind of file you wish to have in this Smart Playlist. You will want to add MPEG audio stream (without quotes) in that field.
Lastly, check the box that says Live Updating which will update your Smart Playlist of radio stations when you add more stations to your library. Then whenever you want to listen to your favorite radio station, you can click on that Smart Playlist in the source list and you will see all the internet radio stations you have added to iTunes.
Enjoy the music!
Note: There is no way of adding an internet radio station to the "Radio" source list in iTunes. Contacting Apple more than likely won't yield a response, but you can list your station on Shoutcast, Live365, RogueAmoeba (links listed above) to be seen and heard by listeners worldwide.
iTunes does not support Windows Media Player format or Real Player One format, so those streams cannot be played through iTunes and must be played through their respective applications.

I read the answer to this question and appreciated the information, but where on the web do you find the sources that were listed - namely:

• UK Radio Stations
• Shoutcast
• Radio-Locator (not the best for locating online radio feeds)

Problems with libdb_cxx-4.3.so

Hi everyone,
Klibido tells me this:
klibido: error while loading shared libraries: libdb_cxx-4.3.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
How can I install this libraries???

Most likely your problem is that klibido is compiled using libdb 4.3 or whatever package that .so belongs to and then the arch repo updated libdb from 4.3 to 4.4 and therefor also changed the name of that file.
I acctually don't know what the correct solution for this would be in the eyes of our dear developers, but if you want a temporary fix until they do a proper fix you can just link the new 4.4 file to the name that klibido wants it to be.
Example:
ln -s /usr/lib/libdb_cxx-4.4.so /usr/lib/libdb_cxx-4.3.so
I wouldn't mind getting that answer on this myself by the way.

What exactly does a new poster have to do to get permission to post images?

Recently there was a forum update that disabled new posters to add images
(AND links?) Supposedly this was to reduce spam. So far so good.
Not surprisingly, immediately after the update we have numerous posts in the Forums Issues forum complaining about this feature and no doubt plenty of users just submitting to this policy in silence.
This whole feature is a SEVERE (that's right. bold AND in caps) hindrance. I don't have the stats, but I'm sure a considerable percentage of
(non spam) original posts are from new users with no previous forum activity. Pictures are especially important in the Chart Control forum as visualization is what charting is all about.
(This is the forum I frequent. So yes, I'm biased.)
Ofcourse, I'm sure the forum developers have weighed the pros and cons and studied the stats and then decided what to do after serious consideration...
The question is: What exactly does a new poster have to do to get permission to post images? Wait for how long? Reply to a confirmation email? "Participate" more?
(Say it ain't so.) How much more?
If there really is a workaround by adding an image tag with the edit html button, I don't want to hear it. It's as silly a way to add images as in the before times, the long long ago.
(Also, if this is possible, this whole restriction feature is actually worse than useless. Spammers will exploit this sooner than later. (A very good point made by our dear friend Quincy in a post that has since been deleted it
seems.))

I believe answering that question defeats the purpose of having the "feature".

(if this really is the only message new posters get) will have to do.
I still feel this is more of a hindrance to the quality of the forums than not. As confirmed it seems by Naomi, spammers already have a workaround.

It says "Body text cannot contain images or links until we are able to verify your account."
If this means you will get a verify email, then you should get a verify email. The message infers that either action will be taken by the forum mods that will be apparent to the user or that the user needs to take some sort of action.
If this is not the case, the wording needs to be changed; it should not mislead you. This is an incredibly vague status message.
I do not have any record of a verify email in my inbox history. All I have is an email this morning from MSDN Site Support (I also posted a request yesterday in MSDN Site Feedback) asking me which account I needed verified. I only have one account.
Almost immediately after I replied, I was able to post links and photos. Honestly I do not know which came first though, the "verification" or my reply to the email or someone noticing the thread about compaining about it a month after signing up.

French punctuation in Pages

I wonder if anyone has seen the following problem already:
I just purchased Pages. I need to edit documents written in French. In French, quotation marks are not "" but two arrows, sort of like << and >>. Plus, there is a space after the open quote mark, e.g., << this quote >> and before the close quote.
Pages tells me that this sign is a form of a paragraph (in Special Characters). This is false.
Also, in French, colons and semi-colons and question marks have spaces before them, between the word and the punctuation mark.
Although I have gone through the Inspector in Pages to choose French as the language (Text + More + language), and also of course selected French as the language on the top right of the computer screen, still Pages will not apply French quotation marks or French punctuation.
Does this mean I have to go back to MS Word (which I would like to get away from)?

Je viens d'acheter Pages. Je travaille sur des documents écrits en français. En français, les guillemets ne sont pas des guillemets anglais "" mais des flèches << et >> . Qui plus est, il y a un espace après le guillemet ouvrant et avant le guillemet fermant.
Autre problème dans Pages: la ponctuation en français, pour le point-virgule et les deux points ( ; : ) et pour le point d'interrogation comporte un espace avant la marque de ponctuation.
Or, en dépit du choix de français comme langue dans Pages et la sélection du français en haut à droite de l'écran, Pages n'applique ni les guillemets français ni la ponctuation française.
Quelqu'un peut m'aider?

however, they are incorrectly typed because they come down with no spaces after the opening quote, and before the closing quote. In other words, a glaring error in a French language text, and thus completely unuseable. Of course, one can manually add spaces but then publisher typesetters will have all those to undo....
Sounds a bit surprising. If the spaces are available, the publisher tool is foolish if he add other ones.
I'm flabbergasted that something as basic as that is not right in Pages.
It's basic for a Frenchy of France. For others, it's an old foreign feature ;-(
How can it be sold?
(1) Because many users doesn't take care of that.
(2) because the localization is not treated seriously by Apple.
10 days after the delivery of Pages 4.0, I reported localization oddities.
The application is in version 4.0.2, some global oddities where corrected but localization ones are always here.
It's really pityful (of course our dear peterB will continue to claim that I always say that all what Apple does is perfect!)
Surely the software writers cannot have made such an error.
Who may introduced such a feature if it's not one of the software writers ? Maybe it's the road-sweeper
