To Raise an Exception: which method is more appropriate

Hi Friends,
I am using method report_error_message to raise exception but it is not stopping the execution sequence of the application.
I need to show the exception for mandatory check for the UI field when we click on any action buttons in the screen.
Please suggest me which method is suitable and explain the parameters in that method.
Regards,
Lakshmi Prasad.

Hello Lakshmi,
you can use REPORT_FATAL_ERROR_MESSAGE method to stop the further processing.

  • Which mac is more appropriate for adobe software using

    I have to buy a new computer for a internship. I need one which is enough powerful to support the use of several adobe softwares (photoshop, dreamweaver, final cut pro, indesign, flash and illustrator).
    I have also a small budget, about 1000 euros. Is a 13 inches enough?

    If you are going to be doing graphics-intensive tasks, do NOT select the 13" models. The video infrastructure has shared video memory, meaning that the main RAM is used for everything, including the screen framebuffers, and the GPU and CPU have to battle it out for access to it.  The 15" and 17' models have dedicated VRAM and separate access busses, which translates to much snappier video response.
    There are two options you can explore for reducing costs: ensuring that you get the educational discount if offered in your country and seeing if your country's Apple Stores have refurbished units for sale. Might not be cutting edge, but you might get a Mid 2010 15" for a good price, for example. Plus you also get the standard warranty and the option to extend it with AppleCare.

  • What SAP module is more appropriate for my background?

    HI,
    I'm very interested to join a SAP course in India but i'm really not making any decision so far. which module is more suitable for me and my background.
    I have done my Master in "computer science" and my undergrad in "Education in computer". I've asked some guys and some have advised me to go for Basis or BI. I'm telling you that I have no experience in SAP world but I'll take a step further to join the most appropriate course that meets my background.
    my Questions are:
    - Any requirements to study SAP Basis/BI module in an authorized institute?
    - What do u suggest me to study?
    plz share your experience :):):)

    BTW, I'd like to get some advices about my situation:
    i'm interested to enter into SAP world but i duno which way is more appropriate for me:
    1- join a course in a non-authorized institute in India for about 2 months (2 h/day) then join SIEMENS institute (8 h/day) which is authorized then do the exam to be a SAP certified consultant. [a long way, total of studying is 3 months, will cost a bit more]
    2-  join a course in SIEMENS institute then do the exam to be a SAP certified consultant. [short period .. just 1 month, intensive]
    Things to bear in mind:
    - no experience in SAP world.
    - the aim of studying in a non-authorized institute is to enter into SAP world and make sure if the module is suitable for u or need to switch to another one. studying in a non-institute is a bit cheap.
    what do u recommend me to do?
    cheers,

  • Which column raised the exception?

    SQL> desc test
    Name Null? Type

    SQL> insert into test values(1,'abcdefghijkl');
    insert into test values(1,'abcdefghijkl')
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-01401: inserted value too large for column
    How do I know that which column/value raised this exception? In this case, is there a way to identify that the column "B" has raised this exception?

    What version of oracle are you running? Here is a run on 10.2
    SQL> desc afb
    A VARCHAR2(1)
    B VARCHAR2(2)
    C VARCHAR2(3)
    SQL> select version from v$instance;

    INSERT INTO AFB VALUES ('A','BBB','CC')
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-12899: value too large for column "TEST"."AFB"."B" (actual: 3, maximum: 2)
    The error message tells you. In prior versions you could tell in pro from the indicator variable and OCI had a similar method, but in straight SQL you were more or less out of luck.

  • Which event time capture method is more accurate?

    Hello
    I am trying to capture a time stamp of some sorts whenever the DAQ receives a pulse, I have two methods (attached) which are giving slightly different times. One method is using the "get time stamp" function while the other is using the "Tick Clock". The format of the time stamp does not matter too much but the accuracy does, so I am wondering which one is more accurate. Also, this VI will most likely be utilized on a real time system (Labview RT) if one VI or the other cannot be used in real time then that would take precedent over the accuracy.
    Thank you

    Timing accuracy is not very good with either method. The Timestamp uses the computer's time of day clock.  If you were using computers before time servers became available, you may recall that computer clocks drifted seconds per day or more.  Over the long term (weeks to years) the timestamp will be, on average, more accurate because of the continual resetting by the time servers. However you may see jumps due to those resets.
    The Tick count is derived from an internal oscillator in the computer.  Because the computer is more concerned about synchronizing logic across the CPU (and peripheral chips) thatn timing accuracy, these oscillators are neither highly stable nor accurate.
    The oscillator in your DAQ device is almost certainly more stable and probably more accurate than either of the internal clocks available.
    Get the signal from the DAQ as a waveform and use the t0 time from that. Short of setting up your own atomic clock or GPS derived clock, that it probably the best you can do.  It also is most closely linked to the acquisition as opposed to the timt the data is read from the DAQ device.

  • Which Method Should be overriden to update a column in master?

    Hi,
    I have a Master/Detail relationship with the requirement to update master depending on some column in detail. This update of master can raise an exception and it should be done at post time. The way to update master changes depending on the DML action. If an exception is raised I want to rollback the changes made to master.
    I tried prepareForDML, postChanges methods. In both cases the exception is ignored and the transaction is not commited and does not display any message visible. But the exception can be catched and visible on console.
    I tried creating a validation method on detail entity. In the validation method I update master and call master.validate. This seems to work but the validation method can be called more than once and thus can update master more than once which is invalid.
    So which method should I use to post changes of the master?
    I present detail data as a ADF-Table. I want to display the exception as attached to a row in ADF-Table, just below the row in the table. Is it possible?
    Regards,
    Salim

    Jan,
    I have OrderItems and deliveryItems entities with 1..* relationship. I want to update OrderItems.deliveredQuantity and OrderItems.returnedQuantity fields based on delivery Type (i.e return, accept). OrderItems entity has an entity-level validation rule as quantity >= deliveredQuantity - returnedQuantity. So it might throw exceptions on Validate.
    I decided to implement this functionality in deliveryItemsImpl.postChanges, deliveryItemsImpl.prepareForDML and finally in an entity level validation rule (method) in deliveryItemsImpl. In postChanges and PrepareForDML it just ignores the exception, does not commit, does not give any error messages. In the last case it retries to validate the entity continously and cannot validate. To my opinion it should stop saying this entity is invalid. Isn't?

  • Raising cx_rsrout_abort exception in Start Routine of Transformations

    Hello Abap OO Gurus:
    This is likely a very simple question but I'm brand new to Abap OO and despite reading and searching, I cannot convert some old abap code used in the start routine of business content in BW to be used in the Transformation start routine in SAP BI.
    My Start Routine inside a BI 7.0 transformation rule has a method declared like this:
    <b>METHODS
    start_routine
    IMPORTING
    request type rsrequest
    datapackid type rsdatapid
    EXPORTING
    monitor type rstr_ty_t_monitors
    CHANGING
    SOURCE_PACKAGE type tyt_SC_1
    RAISING
    cx_rsrout_abort.</b>
    The Exception "cx_rsrout_abort" has replaced what used to be a simple ABORT data field. The <u>old code I want to replace was just "abort = 1'.</u>
    But now it seems like I have to use TRY... ENDTRY statement to raise Exception "cx_rsrout_abort". I am inside the abap code of the Method "start routine"
    METHOD start_routine.
    *=== Segments ===
    Could some kind soul educate me as to how to raise the Exception "cx_rsrout_abort" inside the Method start routine?
    thanks in advance, David

    Tx HDev:
    we are almost there...  I have that PDF but never got thru to the rest of the Appendix B as my project is just too crazy...
    When try what Appenix B suggest..
    <u>"raise exception type CX_RSROUT_SKIP_RECORD."</u>
    I get the following Warning msg which makes sense...
    <b>"W:The exception CX_RSROUT_SKIP_RECORD is neither caught nor is it
    declared in the RAISING clause of "START_ROUTINE".</b>
    The METHOD statement in the start routine never declares another exception other than cx_rsrout_abort as seen below:
        METHODS
          start_routine
            IMPORTING
              request                  type rsrequest
              datapackid               type rsdatapid
            EXPORTING
              monitor                  type rstr_ty_t_monitors
            CHANGING
              SOURCE_PACKAGE              type tyt_SC_1
            RAISING
              cx_rsrout_abort.
    Maybe NW2004s has a bug here... I'm hoping that a SAP Developer reads this posting and can enlighten us all... otherwise I'll have to post a OSS msg
    So the mystery is still how to do
    "raise exception type CX_RSROUT_ABORT" and make this equal to ABORT = 1
    which makes the start routine skip a record
    tx again,  David

  • Determining which method to call from an array of Objects

    Hi All,
    Lets suppose I have an interface, a string method name, and an array of Objects indicating the parameters which should be passed to the method.
    What Im trying to work out is a way to quickly determine which method should be invoked.
    I can see that Class has getDeclaredMethod(String, Class[]), but that wont help me as I dont know the formal class types (the method may take X, but I might get passed Y which extends X in the array of objects).
    Does anyone know of a quick way I can determine this?
    All I can think of at the moment is going thru each method of the class one by one, and seeing if the arg is assignable, then, after getting all my matched methods, determining if there are any more 'specific' matches.
    Any ideas?
    Much appreciated,
    Dave

    you might want to take a look at the dynamic proxy apiCheers for the suggestion, but Im actually already using the dynamic proxy API.
    What I have is a MockObjectValidator which allows mock objects to be configuered with expected calls, exceptions to throw etc etc.
    I thought developers on my project would get tired using an interface like this:
    myValidator.setExpectedCall("someMethod", new Class[] { typeA, typeB }, new Object[] { valueA, valueB} );
    I.e, I wanted to cut out having to pass the class array, so they could just use:
    myValidator.setExpectedCall("someMethod", new Object[] { valueA, valueB} );
    The problem there is that I then need to pick the best Method from the class given the object arguments.
    When the mock object is in use, its no problem as the InvocationHandler interface provides the Method. The problem I have is selecting what method a user is talking about from an array of Objects.
    Ive written a simple one now, it just does primitive type class -> wrapper substitution, and then finds ** A ** match. If there is more than one match (ie, all params are assignable to a class' method params), I dont let that method be used.
    Shortly I'll update it to actually make the correct selection in those cases.
    cheers
    Dave

  • JHS 10.1.3 Internal Server Error - Page when a view raises an exception

    I have a view with some logic (based on a table function) and created: entity object, view object and (jhs) an advanced search page. When the view raises an exception an "500 Internal Server Error"-page is showed, but I expected the error would be showed in de messages-component.
    I created a test case: a view on employees-table with in the select a function that raises an exception when last_name starts with "L". On this view an entity obejct, a view object and application module.
    I generated with JHS a page : layout: table and only advanced search.
    The first time the page is loaded (with auto query) some records are showed and the exception is showed as expected in the message-component. When I do a search (without criteria) the "500 Internal Server Error" pages is showed.
    When I create manual a search page, the behavior is as expected.

  • Display which method called the method (gives you a headache doesn't it)

    Hi,
    This question might sound a little weird, so maybe read it twice:
    I would like to see which method called the method.
    public void test1()
       test2();
    public void test2()
       System.out.println(....);
    The program output should be, test1 or classname.test1 or something like that. Is that possible?
    Thanx in advance, Yvo van Beek

    This should give you an idea:   public static void main (String args[]) {
          wereAreWe();
          caller2();
        public static void wereAreWe() {
          try {
            throw new RuntimeException("here we are");
          catch (Exception ex) {
            System.out.println("");
            ex.printStackTrace(System.out);
        public static void caller1() {
          wereAreWe();
        public static void caller2() {
          caller1();
        }You can parse the result of printStackTrace() to get a more precise output.

    If instead, in the catch statement i don't raise any exception, everything works fine.
    can anyone help me?? is it so that every exception that i raise in my RMI server must
    extends RemoteException??
    hope that someone can help me
    thanx in advance and regards
    marco

    Don't need to extends RemoteException. But have you defined your
    Exception that is implements Serializable?
    public class YourException extends Exception
                                 implements Serializable
    {...}Regards,

  • Frm-40735-when-button-pressed trigger raises unhandled exception ora-01430

    Hi,
    I am running my developer6i application on winxp on one of my clinet side I got error frm-40735-when-button-pressed trigger raises unhandled exception ora-01430 when I press the button which give me the alter button to select yes or no before this the error araises.. but in the other client side its working correctlly with no such error message on same OS and developer6i version...

    i suppose you are getting 1403 and not 1430
    ++++++
    Error: ORA 1430
    Text: column being added already exists in table
    Cause: An ALTER TABLE ADD statement specified the name of a column that is
    already in the table.
    All column names must be unique within a table.
    Action: Specify a unique name for the new column, then re-execute the
    statement.
    ++++++
    1403 is no data found
    so most likely you are executing a
    select ... into ...
    which is user dependent through where clause
    that might be an explanation to your problem
    but more info is needed on that
    and surely you must clarify the ORA error you are getting.

  • Building a method with more than one result data

    Hi, everyone:
    I'm a little shy to ask this question, however, it's been hanging in my mind for so long, so I think I'd rather make a confession on it. You may laugh at me if you want, I'm ready for that, but I more look forward to that someone can really give me the light, or even the link, or some hint....
    For your ease of reading, I give the question first, and my whole story behind:
    When I need a method which can provide more than one result( in other words, multiple outputs), how can I do it in Java? As I know, either you pass and object, or the result of the function is an object will do , for the object contains the datas you want, but that means your needs for those data have to be defined in object format in advance, won't that be inconvinient? Or Java has a better solution for that?
    //And here's the whole story....
    I began my career as a programmer by starting with LabVIEW, it's a graphical programming language made by National Instrument, and it's powerful on DAQ, and industrial field. One of the most important issues on design is to devide your system into multiple functions( in its own term: subVI), I think it's just like applying structured analysis method.
    When we dealing with functions in LabVIEW, a programmer can define his own function with mulitiple inputs and outputs, for example, I can design a function called SumAndDevide, which accepts two input ( two variables to be summed and devided) and gives two results( result of summing and that of deviding).
    The methodology has its power, at least it provide the functional decomposition, and you can compose a suitable solution in certain circumstance even they are not the smallest unit function. And testing is easy. It affects me so large that I look the trail of it when I come to other programming languages. In COBOL( well, that is a VERY old COBOL version ), I was scared to find there is no protection to the inner data on the performed sections, while making a outside subroutine to be called is cubersome and really a hard work. When I came to Delphi, I knew that using the result of a function cannot satisfy me, for it give only one output, even you can define it as variant, but I think it's vague to realize. So I use the difference of called by value and called by reference to handle the problem, that is: a value parameter for the input, and a variable paramter for the output.
    Well, when I came to Java, I am stunned again, now there is no passing by reference mechanism in Java, otherwise you have to pass it as an object, but that means when you need multiple outputs, the output has to be defined in object form in advance. And that will be very inconvinient!! I tried to find some solutions, but I can't. So is there any way that in Java you can define a method with multiple output? or Java handles the problem in totally different way?
    Any comments will be appreciated!!
    Thanks!!

    You missed the most common OO solution - separation of concerns and implementation hiding.
    If you have a function which returns a string, that is one method of the object that provides the service.
    If you have a function which returns a real, that is a different method of the object.
    If both functions require common code, move that into a private method which is called by both. If the method is costly, cache the result.
    eg an aerodynamics properties class, which could be done as a multivalued return of (lift, drag), refactored to independent lift() and drag() methods, which delegate to an interpolate() method, which caches the interpolated value and uses mach, pressureHeight and _alpha to determine whether it should recalculate:  /**
       * Calculates the aerodynamic drag force at a given mach, alpha and pressure height.
      public double drag (final double aMach, final double aPressureHeight, final double aAlpha) {
        interpolate(aMach, aPressureHeight, aAlpha);
        return _drag;
       * Calculates the aerodynamic lift force at a given mach, alpha and pressure height.
      public double lift (final double aMach, final double aPressureHeight, final double aAlpha) {
        interpolate(aMach, aPressureHeight, aAlpha);
        return _lift;
      private void interpolate (final double aMach, final double aPressureHeight, final double aAlpha) {
        if (aMach != _mach) {
          setMach(aMach);
          _pressureHeight = Double.NaN;
        if (aPressureHeight != _pressureHeight) {
          setPressureHeight(aPressureHeight);
          _alpha = Double.NaN;
        if (aAlpha != _alpha) {
          setAlpha(aAlpha);
    ... actual interpolation happens in the private setXXX methods.
