TO RUN JAVA WITOUT JVM INSTALLED
Hi Friends,
I have a special requirement. I want to auto run a java program from a CD as soon as the Compact Disc is inserted. But the catch is, I dont want to have JRE installed into the system. Is it possible in some way to run this java program with the jvm from the CD itself???
Get me know this..I am in dire need to solve this problem.

and yes, you can put it in a directory and run that JVM from a launch
script.
Do you have any links which descibe that process. I also would like to deploy a windows-only cd which contains the JVM so that nothing needs to be installed.
However the jvm expects some registry-values to be set :(

Running java application without installing JRE
We try to run Java application without installing JRE, by copying java.exe (and other JRE files) together with our jar file. This does not work.
Can it be solved? Can you elaborate on the steps to create a java
application without installing JRE.
Regards,
padmaPadma,
The solution is to deploy my JAR together with JRE files, without running standard JRE installation. This makes possible to simply ensure that my JAR will run with THIS SPECIFIC JRE. This is important from QA point of view. Also, installation of my application does not change configuration of JVMs on the computer.
The solved problem:
Standard JRE installation may change the default JRE for many Java applets and application on computer. Changing version JRE may lead to some programs misbehaviour (JRE backward compatibility does not always work and different Java versions not always live together well). Thus, some IT departments are very nervous about JRE version change.
Hope, this explains my problem and the solution. -

Running Java app when java not installed
I need to run java apps on a server I don't control and the admin will not install java. :(
Tried a few things to run java without installation, but get error that a java registry item can not be found. "Error opening registry key 'Software\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment'" Might be that without control of the registry, there's no way to run the java engine, but curious if there's a way to get it to run... I'm gonna play around with it, but figured if someone out there knows it's not possible, they could save me time by letting me know.
Thanks!Depends on what you want to run. To run an applet on the computer requires that the JRE be installed, as the applet needs the Java Plug-in and Registry keys that the JRE install includes. To run a Java program from the command line needs a copy of the JRE, but it does not need to be "installed" by the Java installer. Then the command "java ... classname" needs to include the full path to the java executable that the JRE contains.
There might be websites that allow you to run certain kinds of Java programs on the website. I don't know if they still wxist. I also doubt that they'll run applets. -
Hello!
I have a 600 megahertz Intel Pentium III machine running Windows 98 SE. I use the following browsers: Netscape 4.79, 6.2 and internet explorer 6.
I was able to run java applications on my computer very well. I purchased a program to make web buttons. The program worked very well for a time and it just stop working after a while. I contacted them and was told to upgrade my jvm machine by downloading the newest msjavx86.exe from microsoft and installing it to see if it will solve my problems. It did not work.
I get this message everytime that I try to use the program:
"Can't find the file "BtnAuthor.class" can't execute class "
I'm unable to run any java and all I see are grey boxes with codes. Any idea of what could be wrong or how to fix this problem.
Thanks for your time at reading this
Ann :-)Well, I'm quite unfamiliar with this. I just opened the java console on netscape 4.79 (my favorite) and I got the following:
Netscape Communications Corporation -- Java 1.1.5
Type '?' for options.
Symantec Java! ByteCode Compiler Version 210.065
Copyright (C) 1996-97 Symantec Corporation
Then I pressed the "?" and got the following:
Netscape Communications Corporation -- Java 1.1.5
Type '?' for options.
Symantec Java! ByteCode Compiler Version 210.065
Copyright (C) 1996-97 Symantec Corporation
Netscape Java Console Commands:
b: break into the debugger (Windows only)
c: clear console window
d: dump applet context state to console
f: finalize objects on finalization queue
g: garbage collect
h: print this help message
l: capture all classes loaded by an applet to a directory
m: print current memory use to console
q: hide console
s: dump memory summary to "memory.out"
t: dump thread info to "memory.out"
x: dump memory to "memory.out"
X: dump memory (detailed) to "memory.out"
0-9: set applet debug level to <n>
I'm not sure if I should explore any of this options at this time. I have no idea of how to write a simple java on my own. The button program was supposed to do the writing and I was just supposed to paste it it in the html.
Thanks for helping me! :-) -
Run java application on mainframes
i have a financial application which needs to run java application on mainframes. Any ideas how i may do it. where do i get the jvm for the various OS. !
Thank you all for the reply. I have noted regarding jvm for OS390. Trouble is we have > 30 banks where this application has to be installed and run and these are very old systems like nsk and ve. so this would mean we need to have the jvm for all the different OS running. i would collect more info on the various OS before deciding if it can be done in java.

How to run java application without having java environment in a machine
can i run java application without having java environment(JVM) in a machine.I mean i dont have installed j2se or jdk in my machine. And i have an j2ee application running on another host which is built in swings.I want to access that application in my machine
can any one help regarding my problemIf you only need to access the program from one machine and you are running a Unix-like operating system (e.g., Linux, Solaris), you can use the remote display capabilities of X11. In this case you have to choose the host where the app will be displayed when you start it:
$ DISPLAY=<hostname>:0.0
$ export DISPLAY
$ java ...
If you want to be able to display it on both machines at the same time, or if you are using windows, then try something like VNC (http;//www.realvnc.com). Or if you are running windows and your version supports it, you can use windows remote desktop. -
How to run java programs on machines without JDK
I want to make an installer for my java program that would work on machines even without JDK or Java runtime. How should I go?
Here's another point.
There is no particular need to "install" anything to run java. You can simply copy the jre to a directory of your choice, and from that directory invioke the JVM as you need it. -
Run java program from start menu
Does anyone know how to write a class so that when a user is running my program for the first time they can run an installation file that will put a shortcut to my bat file in the start menu.Know of any place i can get info on setting up an installation class or something similar.
If you could give me some info would greatly appreciate it,it's my first time doing anything this big and not really sure where to start with writing an installation fileIf your program is just for windows then giving the user an exe instead of a .bat file will help.
http://www.rolemaker.dk/nonRoleMaker/javalauncher/marner_java_launcher.htm
Your user will either need to have a JVM installed on their machine or you will need to provide one with the application. If you intend to provide one, the licence doesn't allow you to install it on to the target machine, but you can place the java dir in your directory structure and access the java/javaw command by a relative path (see the help on the above site for that)
Once you have a directory structure set up for your application, you can use any comercial intall program to give give you a setup.exe file or whatever. if you are providing the VM with your distribution, then the file will at least 14MB plus your class and resource files. If you read the licence agreement for distributing the VM, it tell you what files can and can't be removed from it to make the file a bit smaller. For instance, you can remove webstart because you won't be using that.
search http://www.download.com/ for installers. I think there are a few ad supported ones if you don't want to pay -

Please, advice.
Thanks in advance.
Best Regards.
JorgeThanks Manoj for your advice.
We had already checked the procedures, we are working based on the System Copy Guide: "System Copy for SAP Systems Based on SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SR3 ABAP+Java".
I had to mention that source and target systems are HP-UX, 11.23, Itanium and the DataBase is Oracle 10.2.02.
The copy was made from a Central System (ABAP + Java) to a High-Availability System (ABAP + Java), and the problem appeared when copying the Central Instance.
Thanks in adavance.

How do i run java application on IIS
Hi,
Can I run java application on IIS(Internet information Server)?
If yes, How do i do that?
My java application contains JSP,Servlets and EJB.
To run java application on IIS which plug in should i use.
Can anybody help me This is urgent...........
ThanxYou can try using Macromedia JRUN version 4. Any of the version will have an ISAPI filter which you can add to the IIS site of your JSP/Servlet.
The JRUN ISAPI filter will establish connection to the JRUN proxy listener on a port. This port is called proxy listener port. Basically once you install the ISAPI, it will have config file called jrun.ini
Check for the ProxyPort entry in jrun.ini (or something like this - sorry, I can't remember the exact entry). It should match to the proxy listener port where of the server where your JSP/Servlet is intalled.
Good luck ! -

ThanxHi
Check this article on JGuru. It explains how to use Tomcat together with IIS.
http://www.jguru.com/faq/view.jsp?EID=776546
If you also need to use EJB's you probably also want to have a JBoss installed - check www.jboss.org
