Problem: i tried to open Safari about a couple of hours ago and I was presented with this error message block with an address of http://www.virushealthcheck.com. The message is; Windows detected security error, due to suspicious activity found on your computer. Contact Windows Certified Live Tech ( 1.866.606.2003). If I clk the OK button , there are multiple layered windows that will appear after that. Can't get out of it , except to quit Safari. earlier today before this happened I was on Facebook, Instagram, responding email cutting and paste transactions and saving it to Microsoft word. then I turned off my lap top for several hours. When I turned it back on awhile ago, I discovered this problem. on top of that aI can't even clear the history everything is gray out except for the Earlier today, and the day and date of the month. I tried several times to quit Safari, turn off and turn back on my lap top to no avail. My question is; How do I go by to in getting this error message when I click on Safari? Does that mean that I might have a virus in my lap top? Please Help. Thanks.

Force Quit .
Press command + option + esc keys together at the same time. Wait.
When Force Quit window appears, select the Safari if not already.
Press Force Quit button at the bottom of the window. Wait.
Safari will quit.
Relaunch Safari holding the shift key down.

i have done this on my ipad mini and my imac but they are still not syncing. my iphone 4 has the icloud symbol but it seems to be unresponsive to touch, I cannot get it to highlight or turn-on. Bit confused.

I used my Photoshop Elements 11 program yesterday and it worked fine; today I tried to open it and got a C++ Runtime Error. I am not tech savvy so need a solution I can understand and implement...if I uninstall and reinstall the program will it resolve?

A little more info -- the program is running on Windows 8.1, 64 bit OS.
I originally purchased the program from Amazon -- could I uninstall and then re-download from there to resolve this?

Thank you so much. The error provided no clues as to which MSVC runtime should be reinstalled so I removed the program from my computer and reinstalled it. It is working fine now. Really appreciate your help and quick response!

some sites that use flash (or other issues) dont want you trying to view the site in your browser on an ios device, because they know it will not be a good experience - they detect your device, and if it is an ios device they want you to use their app instead of your browser.

I was updating Firefox from version 6 to version 7, after updating I tried to open Firefox and the message I got is this: This application has failed to start because xul.dll was not found. How can I fix this?

I was updating Firefox to the newest version 7.0.1 from version 6.0.2 I think it was, I clicked the restart Firefox button that always comes up after updating. It started updating and then Firefox never restarted like it was supposed to after it was done updating. I then tried to open Firefox and it told me "This application has failed to start because xul.dll was not found." I did have Firefox crash on maybe about 30 minutes or so earlier which bothered me because I have been using Firefox for years and never had it crash on me before but I didn't think much of it at the time it happened because I was able to go back onto Firefox and finish what I had been working on. A while later I checked for updates and updated. The first time I tried to update it didn't work though so I had to shutdown Firefox and reopen Firefox and start the update a second time. It was after the second time that when I tried to open Firefox I got that message about failing to start because xul.dll can't be found. I filed a crash report when my Firefox crashed. This would have been around 1am-2am in the morning that Firefox first crashed and then wouldn't allow me to open it after updating. I have a DELL laptop running the Windows XP operating system but the laptop is probably at least 6 or 7 years old. The laptop will no longer charge so I always have to have it plugged into an outlet. Both my laptop hard drive and my external hard drive give me messages that I am running out of disk space on my hard drive. I bought this laptop 6 or 7 years ago second hand so it could be even older. In short it's a piece of crap and it gives me all kinds of issues but I currently can't afford a new one, but I have never had any problems with Firefox and I use Firefox more than any other aspect of my laptop so it's really really bothering me. I tried to uninstall and it said I couldn't because the file is corrupt or something, but I think I finally got it uninstalled and/or deleted or whatever, but now I try to reinstall/download it again from the beginning and I can't. The error message said that my computer didn't have the capabilities, but I have several other HD movies that I have always and can still watch without issue. Just this one doesn't work. Why, and do you know how to fix this?

Apparently the display is required to be HDCP compatible to view HD movies in iTunes. My display isn't so this is my problem. I contacted Apple support and they have agreed to credit me for the HD movie and I have now downloaded the SD version.

Lion is Not compatible with PPC (Power PC) based software, such as your older version of PhotoShop. Your choices are you can either upgrade to the newer version of PhotoShop, or you can backup your data and apps, erase your harddrive and reinstall Snow Leopard.

Had the same problem and spoke with Apple Support. They had me reset the System Management Controller:
Shut down the computer. With the computer off, on the left hand side of the keyboard press shift+control+option along with the power button simultaneously and release. Wait 5-10 seconds and restart the computer.
This solved my problem and I was immediately able to purchase, download, and play an HD movie from iTunes w/o any error message.

This happens each and every time, on different Wifi networks, in different locations. On the other hand, I don't ever encounter this problem when I tether my laptop to my mobile phone's 3g/2g network using Personal Hotspot. How do I fix this?

Open System Preferences > Network > Advanced > DNS
Click + and type:
208.67.222.222
Click + again and do the same.
208.67.220.220
Click OK.
Quit and relaunch both your browsers to test.

I'm not sure what you mean by it making accessing files more complicated. I have both Pages 4.3 & Pages 5.1 icons in my Dock as well as Numbers 2.3 & Numbers 3.1. I continue to use the iWork '09 versions for my everyday needs. As long as the new versions are in your Applications folder & the '09 versions in the iWork '09 folder, Software Update will not have a problem updating them even if Apple should come out with a new update for the '09 versions.
Because I have moved the new versions to an external drive & renamed the apps because I want '09 to be the default apps, I do have to remember to move them back to my applications folder & restore the original names before updating. But since you like the new versions this "complication" doesn't apply to you.

You could repartition your drive to have a different OS X with the older iTunes there, and the newer iTunes on the existing partition. Back up everything beforehand. See Kappy's advice in this thread. Partitioning my Hard Drive
