Tomcat 4.0 & JDK1.4

I keep getting "Unable to compile class for JSPNote: sun.tools.javac.Main has been deprecated" warning AND "Class mypackage.myclass not found" errors
I installed JDK1.4 locally and none of my webapps worked, so I re-installed JDK1.3 and I do not receive these errors when using jdk1.3 & tomcat 4.0 locally - my jsp find all of the classes and everything works great, locally. But when I try to deploy my webapp on my ISP server, I get the class not found errors. My older webapps on my ISP server which are identically conifgured are still working, but the new one will not work due to the erros mentioned above. I also tried
<%@ page import="mypackage.myclass" %> and still receive class not found errors.
All of my classes are in named packages, my jsp are in the ROOT folder, and classes in ROOT/WEB-INF/classes/mypackage.
Is their any special configuration required for jdk1.4/tomcat 4.0 to work together successfully? I have read people referring to ensuring tools.jar is in the tomcat classpath. Will that solve this issue?
Any help/ideas would be appreciated. Thanks all.

still waiting for a response from tech support....but...
I managed to get the webapp (same jsp & classes)running on another machine locally with jdk1.4 & tomcat 4.0.3, but still get the error on my ISP's server.
Any suggestions for things that they should check in their configuration?
I have confirmed that all of my jsp & classes are in the correct path, so I don't think there is anything else I can do.

  • Problem generate report using ireport-0.5.1 on tomcat 4.1 + jdk1.3.1

    Hi,
    Below are my project environment:-
    JDK 1.3.1
    Tomcat 4.1
    Jasperreports 0.6.1
    iReport 0.5.1
    I manage to compile and generate the report in iReport. However when i write these code to export the jrprint temporary file to PDF file, the following error stack is displayed. My suspect is jdk library class imcompatible because I used jdk 1.5 to compile the jasper report while jdk 1.3 to compile my project which is built on top of struts 1.0.2

  • GetTextContent() method not found in JDK1.5

    Hello
    I wish to start by saying this error has frustrated all my efforts to finish my work. I will appreciate any help offered.
    Tomcat 4.1
    JDK1.5
    I'm trying to load an xml file using dom and then access the content of that element. I used the package org.w3c.dom.node. and a number of xpath packages that comes with the new JDK1.5. Everything works well except actually accessing text content of an element. i.e. <ELEMENT>TEXT VALUE</ELEMENT>
    My jsp page keeps saying:
    method getTextContent not found in org.w3c.dom.node.
    and the old getNodeValue() that is available in the old JDK1.4 will not work in JDK 1.5
    And I know for a fact the method in question is available in the package because my beans which utilises the same method compiles OK
    I later discovered this error is specific to tomcat 4.1 and not tomcat 5. Unfortunately I don't have the luxury of upgrading or using third party XML parser.
    Anyone who can replicate similar conditions and can solve this will be appreciated.
    PLSSSSSS HELP!!!!!!!
    anyone who wish to

    I've just tried another method with similar result.

  • Remote Server Debugging with Tomcat and Eclipse

    Hi ,
    I am using Tomcat 4.0, Jdk1.3 and eclipse 2.1 ,Windows 2000
    I am trying for past 5 days, Remote Server Debugging.
    But I can't acheive.Please help in this tough situation.
    I have configured Tomcat to run in debug mode by the following steps:
    1) In catalina.bat, SET CATALINA_OPTS=-server -Xdebug -Xnoagent -Djava.compiler=NONE -Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,server=y,suspend=n,address=8000
    2) Then I set the JAVA_HOME AND TOMCAT_HOME in the environment mode.
    3) Then I clicked the startup.bat in the bin directory.
    In Eclipse side , I followed as,
    1) Run/Debug/Remote Java Application/New/
    In the connect tab, I gave host:localhost and port:8000
    2) Then I clicked Debug button.
    I didn't use any plugin.
    But it producing "Failed to connect to Remote VM.Connection refused."
    So I gave host:localhost and port:8080 in eclipse side,
    but this I am getting errorin eclipse side as "Failed to connect to Remote VM".In server side, I am getting error as,

    Well, once you're already using MyEclipse, I have it set up even simpler than that. Go to Window/Preferences/MyEclipse/Application Servers/Tomcat4/Launch and set the launch mode to debug.
    This works if the project is successfully setup as a webproject in MyEclipse.
    My problem is that I have a project that was not developed with MyEclipse and for some reason does not work when I set it up as a web project in MyEclipse. MyEclipse seem to do something funny with it when I establish the project. Now, if I set it up simply as a java project (as oppposed to Web Project) in myEclipse, then MyEclipse does not give me an option of deploying it.
    Any ideas about how I would go about debugging a project that's not set up as a Web Project in my eclipse?

  • Studio Creator 2 deploy to Tomcat 4.x?

    Due to some legacy vendor apps we are running we are stuck with Java 1.3 for a little while yet.
    I'm trying to test Studio Creator 2 with Apache Tomcat 4.x (JDK1.3) and my war file is being rejected with a java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError. I'm guessing some of the classes within the war file were compiled using Java 1.4 (specifically LifecycleListener)
    Within Studio I'm using the option to Export the War file to J2EE 1.3.
    It lists Tomcat 4.x as a valid target environment, which makes me wonder why this is not working.
    Does anyone know if this is possible and has anyone successfully deployed a Studio project to Tomcat 4.x?

    There is a forum specifically for Java Studio Creator. You might want to repost your message in that forum. Hopefully the Studio Creator experts watching that forum can help anwsering your question.
    The url of the Java Studio Creator is

  • Cant find tomcat extension

    i installed tomcat and i have J2SE 1.4.2
    in documentation of tomcat it says that i need an extension to use tomcat with J2SE 1.4.2
    but i couldn't find it
    Can you help me?

    There is a ready-made Tomcat distribution for JDK1.4 - at least with Tomcat v4.
    A hint: JDK1.4 contains some cryptography and xml-packages, which were not contained in JDK1.3.

  • Oracle7 and Jakarta Tomcat

    Has anyone had any success running Tomcat JSP against Oracle7?
    I've downgraded to the classes111.zip and jdk1.1.8 to avoid the infamous "End of TNS Data Channel" errors that don't seem to have a solution.
    This works fine to run a java app from the command-line, but I think the new JSP spec requires Java2. At least, when I try to run my JSP, I get a 500 error about java/util/ArrayList. I get the same thing when I try to run the NumGuess example JSP.
    So, can anyone coach me through a scenario with Oracle7 and Tomcat. I'm willing to use any combination of versions of Oracle JDBC-lite driver and jdk.
    P.S. I have Tomcat working with jdk1.2.x + ThinDriver8.1.6 + Oracle8i; I just haven't been able to talk to an Oracle7 instance. I need to talk to both.

    If you put your jsp's under webapps/web_app_name/myJspSubdir etc, it should work, provided your beans are still in WEB-INF/classes (ie don't change the directory structure for your beans) - is this what you've done, and still have problems?
    Are you sure it's the JSP that can't find the bean, and not that the JSP can't be found by Tomcat?

  • Problem in accessing webservice over https with auth cert enabled...Urgent

    Hi All,
    I am stuck in accessing webservices using ssl and auth certificate.
    I am using jdk 6 and it is not any issue with the problem I am facing...
    This is what I do...
    I have a webservice deployed which is accessible over https.
    On server, I run..
    - to generate keystoye
    keytool -genkey -alias tomcat-sv -dname "CN=<Server Machine Id>, OU=X, O=Y, L=Z, S=XY, C=YZ" -keyalg RSA -keypass changeit -storepass changeit -keystore server.keystore
    generate server certificate
    keytool -export -alias tomcat-sv -storepass changeit -file server.cer -keystore server.keystore
    On client, i run..
    To generate client keystore-
    keytool -genkey -alias tomcat-cl -dname "CN=<Client Machine Id>, OU=X, O=Y, L=Z, S=XY, C=YZ" -keyalg RSA -keypass changeit -storepass changeit -keystore client.keystore
    To generate client certificate -
    keytool -export -alias tomcat-cl -storepass changeit -file client.cer -keystore client.keystore
    Thne I import server's certificate into client keystore and Client's certificate to server's keystore by
    import server's cer to client keystore -
    keytool -import -v -trustcacerts -alias tomcat -file "C:\java\jdk1.6.0_10\bin\server.cer" -keystore client.keystore -keypass changeit -storepass changeit

    Please let me know if I am missing any required step.. here
    Ask me if you want to know more details about my problem.
    This is very urgent and critical.. Many thanks in advance.

    Hi ejp,
    thanks for your reply. I did read your post in other thread that you pointed.
    I had searched quite a lot on this issue and had idea that it might be due to firewall settings..
    but sadly, I don't know the solution. Well, you have seen the entire code that I wrote and exception too, Could you suggest me a way out? or any specific firewall setting or a workaround?
    Please let me know if you need any other info from my side regarding the code.
    Thanks a Ton!

  • Requirements For JSP

    What are the basic requirements to get going using JSP?In particular, what do I need to ask/tell my Internet Service Provider and will I be able to build and test the functionality of JSP locally?
    These are very naive questions, but it is incredibly difficult to find this sort of 'basic' info.

    A. You need a JDK (like jdk1.3)
    B. Yout need Jakarta-Tomcat
    (http://jakarta.apache.org/builds/jakarta-tomcat/release/v3.2.1/bin/jakarta-tomcat-3.2.1.zip)
    1. install jakarta-tomcat in d:\jdk1.3\jakarta-tomcat
    2. create catcat.bat
    into catcat.bat:
    // start of text
    set JAVA_HOME=D:\jdk1.3
    set TOMCAT_HOME=D:\jdk1.3\jakarta-tomcat
    startup
    // end of text
    3. take catcat.bat into "d:\jdk1.3\jakarta-tomcat\bin" and start it
    4. build in "d:\jdk1.3\jakarta-tomcat\webapps\examples"
    the folder kennedy
    5. take your jsp-Files into the kennedy
    6. open your Browser and open "http://localhost:8080/examples/kennedy"
    or open "http://localhost:8080
    thats it
    have fun :-)

  • OCI DRIVER error. Please help me!!!

    Hi there,
    I am trying to connect to oracle 9.0.1 database that is on server, not on my system. I am using JDBC for conncetion. I want to use OCI driver but it gives me "java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no ocijdbc8 in java.library.path"
    I have jdbc driver jar zip & jar file saved on hard drive and also they are included in CLASSPATH.
    Please help me out to solve this.
    n I am using Tomcat 5.0, jdk1.4.1, win xp.
    Thanks,

    Hi Vikas,
    For running the application with the OCI driver, the system should have the Oracle database or Oracle database client installed. Also, ensure that the following environment variables are set:
    On Windows, ensure the following:
    i) ORACLE_HOME\lib directory is in the PATH
    ii) ORACLE_HOME\bin directory is in the PATH
    After performing the above mentioned things, try again.
    Thanks

  • JDBC / Servlet / ": Io exception: SO Exception was generated"

    Hi,
    i am trying to write a simple Servlet program that would access oracle 9i database and display the names in the "emp" table in the form of a html page.
    I am using tomcat 4.0, jdk1.2.2, oracle 9i, windows 98.
    I am getting this exception as the outoput of the program:
    "Io exception: SO Exception was generated "
    The input of the program will be through a html file, with a form that will ask the user for his/her name(this has got nothing to do with the logic of the program.. just for the sake of using a html form):
    HTML file:
    <html>

    The getMetaVersion is not the problem, it works ok.
    the problem is the second connection
    conn = DriverManager.getConnection ("jdbc:oracle:thin:@database",info);
    This is exactly as it is illustrated in the "JDBC Developer?s Guide and R
    Reference" from oracle for release 9.2 Part No. A96654-01 page 3-8
    //import packages and register the driver
    import java.sql.*;
    import java.math.*;
    DriverManager.registerDriver (new oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver());
    //specify the properties object
    java.util.Properties info = new java.util.Properties();
    info.put ("user", "sys");
    info.put ("password", "change_on_install");
    info.put ("internal_logon","sysdba");
    //specify the connection object
    Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection
    ("jdbc:oracle:thin:@database",info);"

  • Schedule tasks not working for SSL.

    I am running CF11 using Tomcat 7 and jdk1.7.0_45.  I have non-SSL sites that execute the exact same task fine.  However for my SSL enabled sites, the task will not run.  Does anyone have an idea as to what is causing this?

    I can confirm that cfschedule does work with SSL and yes you will need to import the certificate or root certificate into your certificate store if it is not one issued by a "well known" provider that the jre supports. The gotcha is that the certificate domain must match the server name used in the cfschedule call. For us this meant that our www.domain.com cert did not work, even after importing, for https://127.0.0.1/... To fix this we created a hosts file entry so the request didn't have to round trip outside the box.

  • 终于搞定Weblogic8.1sp3下奇怪的Oracle错误了!也算是新Bug喽!

    本来计划新服务器割接要在本月底完成,可是在部署完成以后在操作数据库的时候却出了岔子。怎么也不能用了,连接很正常,就是不能 select,update,insert等操作。最经常报的三个错误是:
    OALL8 is in an inconsistent state.
    Bigger type length than Maximum
    Protocol Violation

  • Location of XML jars

    I know that JAXP and other XML technologies for java are built into the JDK1.4 release. I looked to see if the jar files were located in a specific location under the jdk1.4 directory but could not find any under common/lib or common/endorsed.
    Also, if one wants to use Xalan and Xerces as XSLT/XML parsers where do the jar files go for these? under the tomcat directory or jdk1.4 directory?
    Sorry, I know that these may be silly questions, but it would help me out a bunch. Thanks in advance!

    I am using the jwsdp, which has updated versions of the xml jars, making Xerces the default parser. The only way I could get java 1.4 to see them was to put the jars in the classpath (Windows 2000).
