Tomcat 5.0.19, JRE 1.5.0 and Jasper Exeception

I am trying to help someone solve a jsp problem, but while I am not computer stupid I just really don't know anything about jsp. Here is the summary:
They had a website running using Tomcat 5.0.19 and JRE 1.5.0. They edited their index.jsp page using Macromedia Dreamweaver MX and now are getting the following error:
type Exception report

I found several posts about "class file has wrong version 49.0, should be 48.0" on the net, but none of the solutions seemed to fit with our problem. Thanks in advance for any help that can be provided.

This means you are using the 1.4 JVM with 1.5 libraries.
Make sure Java is installed correctly. BTW: try 1.5.0_04

  • How to use multiple JREs (1.5.0_20 and 1.6.0_07) with Internet Explorer 8?

    Hi!
Question about the problem mentioned in subject.
I have configured that JNLP opens with 1.5 version, both versions are enabled in Java Control Panel Runtime Settings but when I try to start a desktop java console says:
    Java Web Start 1.5.0_22
Using JRE version 1.6.0_07 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM
And the opening of the desktop creates an exception:
Java Web Start - Invalid Argument Error
TooManyArgumentsException[ Too many arguments supplied: {C:\WINDOWS\Temporary, Internet, Files\Content.IE5\....
I'm trying to open my desktop with 1.5 version and other programs with 1.6 version. What is it that I still need to do? I'm kind of confused with this. Some of my collagues have succeeded with this and some doesn't, with the same configuration.
So the question is, how to use multiple JREs with IE8 so that one application uses 1.5 version and others 1.6 version?

Once you can come up with an actual question, I might look at this more closely.

  • How do you switch between JRE v1.4.x and v1.5.x

Java 2 Runtime Environment, v1.5.0_02-b09 Control Panel doesn't appear to let user switch back to a 1.4.x version. Hoping someone can can me how to do this.
I have an application that uses JRE 1.4.2 and does not allow user into the interface until they switch their configuration to the 1.4.2 version by going to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Java Plug-in, selecting the Advanced tab and choosing the 1.4.2 version from the pull down provided in the Java Runtime Environment Section. This process worked fine if the user had v 1.4.x or lower, but does not work now that users have v1.5.x due to the changes in the Control Panel. Does anyone know the equivalent procedure with the new 1.5.x Control Panel so user can specify 1.4.x? (I did play around with the setting in the Java tab, Java Application Runtime Settings section to no avail.) Thanks.

We have had backwards compatibility problems before and must ensure that the product we deliver works for our user community due to the nature of the product. We have compiled our code with 1.4.2 and test internally with 1.4.2_04. In addition, the product that we deliver is in maintenance mode and is not currently funded for development/updates - just need to let the users who have updated to 1.5.x know how to switch back and forth between 1.4.x and 1.5.x. Currently, I can only tell them to remove 1.5.x, which is not desirable.

  • Internet Explorer very slow to display with JRE 1.5.0_7 and above

We're running Windows 2000 Server (SP4) with Terminal Services enabled in Application Server mode. We typically have 20+ concurrent users logged on to a server. Since JRE 1.5.0_7, we've had issues with Internet Explorer taking upwards of 15 seconds to display even though Iexplore.exe appears in Task Manager almost immediately. If we uninstall JRE 1.5.0_7 and use 1.4.2_6, Internet Explorers displays fine. We've tried JRE 1.5.0_11 and 1.6.0_3, and Internet displays slowly. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Any thoughts of why this is occuring? Thanks.

Just wondering whether anyone has ideas/thoughts about this issue. Thanks.

  • How to switch between jre 1.5.0 and 1.4.2 when running applet in browser?

    Hi,
I have JRE 1.5.0_05 and 1.4.2_04 installed and currently applet in browser is always run under jre 1.5. How to run the applet under jre 1.4.2 in browser?
    Thanks a lot

    Hi,
Thanks for the info. I was thinking that the note didn't work for me, apparently I didn't use the conventional APPLET tag.
Is there other way to switch JRE if I'm not using APPLET tag?

  • IE8 JRE 1.6.0_016  and  ** 10.1.2.2 ** app server

We are currently using IE6, 10.1.2.2 app server/forms, Jinitiator 1.3.1.28. We want to end up being certified IE8, 10.1.2.3 app server/forms, JRE 1.6.0_16. Upgrading every app server (dev thru prod), pushing IE8, and the pushing the JRE to 2000 users all in one night is a little much. We were hoping to push the JRE now, then IE8, then upgrade each app server dev thru prod one at a time. However, we will be in non-certified configuration for a little while with this plan.
So, has anyong gotten IE8, JRE 1.6.0_16, and ** 10.1.2.2 ** app server to work. We get a white screen with a box in IE8 under this configuration. Any suggestion on IE8 options to click or unclick? Or JRE option to click or unclick?
We have managed to get IE8, Jinitiator 1.3.1.28, and 10.1.2.2 to work.

One thing we noticed with the Sun JRE 1.5 and higher is it routinely checks for JRE Updates. This can present a problem if you define the JRE version in the formsweb.cfg to strict. We left it open so any version of 1.6 would work. This requires modifying the following two lines:
    #jpi_mimetype=application/x-java-applet;jpi-version=1.4.2_06
    jpi_mimetype=application/x-java-applet;jpi-version=1.6.0  /* drop point release */
    and
    #jpi_classid=clsid:CAFEEFAC-0014-0002-0006-ABCDEFFEDCBA
jpi_classid=clsid:CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-FFFF-ABCDEFFEDCBANote the use of FFFF in place of *0006*. This makes it ignore the point-release (ie., 1.6.0_4 works the same as 1.6.0_18).

  • JRE 1.5.0 and Tomcat 1310 iterations?

    From:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/relnotes.html
there is an item that states the foll:
Tomcat hangs after 24 hours (1310 iterations) on Solaris with both -client and -client -Xcomp flags. This problem is fixed in Tomcat/Apache versions 4.1.30 and 5.0.17
Can anyone shed a light on this item? I am unable to find any info anywhere and we need to support jre 1.5.0 with the affected version of the solaris platform and tomcat.
    Thanks
    Divyesh

True, but that would require JDK and not jre install, and I would still not know what the issue is about.
Sun certainly has not made it clear as to what the issue nor could I find anything about this on apache.
    Any ideas?

  • JRE 6 freeze browsers and Java Control Panel Applet stops working!

    Hello,
this is the second time I got this problem with Java JRE 6 ! First one was a month or two ago:
I have Java JRE 6 update 20 installed on a Windows 7 64bit ultimate. It was working...much time ago...then i found my browser (firefox, google chrome or IE8) was freezing when I open java application or test pages. I tried uninstalling it, cleaning the system with Revo Uninstaller, or CCleaner or JavaRA and reinstalling with no luck. The other problem is the same that user Mass8 had (http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5372196&start=15&tstart=0)
...my java control panel applet is not working and give me this:
    http://www.iouppo.com/lite/pics/df9b61008b5bf9de61a13d8bfa3ddad1.jpg
I tried disabling UAC, running JRE, starting Win7 in safe mode with network...but browser always freeze. It's not a true freeze, with CPU busy at 100% (cpu stays in idle) but it seems to wait for something. It's not a problem with video card driver on my machine, because I can start java control panel from command prompt...and without the noddraw switch, using this command:
    javaw -Xbootclasspath/a:..\lib\deploy.jar -Duser.home="%HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%" com.sun.deploy.panel.ControlPanel
This was the description of my first time.....then I replaced my system with an Acronis image...and I used the system for sometimes....and Java was working until 3-4 days ago! So I did another image of the system with all things working.
Then this morning...I tried the java test page.....and surprise! It's not working anymore!
In these days I think I only disabled UAC and Account virtualization....maybe JAVA saves things there...and then when I disabled UAC (Windows7 deleted those folders and files) it can't find there anymore???? Who can help me?
I don't want to restore my image every month!
My system is 100% virus free and from the last image restoration I didn't visit suspicious sites and so on....I have antivirus and antispyware software...all is perfectly CLEAN. Any ideas or things to try?

I'm beginning to think it's something related to Hybernation after using JAVA....I'm using it very often...and if I use it...and I suspect Java is KO...i try control panel and it doesn't works....then I try with browser and it freeze (or keep waiting...and i can only force to close it)
    THEN,
when I reboot my system I get this window
    http://www.iouppo.com/lite/pics/09501eb799c165bb25ece8fd3261e41c.jpg
suggesting me to rename the folder C:\Program in C:\Program1 ...and if i don't rename it...java will never work...instead if I allow it...Windows will fix it!......This until...the next hybernation....:(....
try to replicate this...maybe I found where is the problem..

  • Troubles with JRE 1.4.2 and iReport (with db2 connection)

Hello everyone. My company is developing a product, and the client is working with JRE 1.4.2 . They (the client) are using db2 Database. We are using iReport to generate the product reports, but we encounter a problem with it - the report will compile and report (in any format) only once - afterwards, iReport will suddenly freeze and will stop to respond.
Trying the same thing with JRE 5.0 worked perfectly, with not troubles at all (but we cannot ask our client to upgrade to JRE 5.0, of course)
Anyone has any idea about how to fix this problem? perhaps there's a patch or something of the sort?
I forgot to mention, there's no error message at all, and if any, it's a javaw.exe application hang.
    Any idea's?
    Thanks,
    Matt.

Have you tried this on another machine?Yes ... actually this has happened on a few workstations here ... all of them are Pentium IV based dell workstations running Windows 2000.
What exact version of 1.4.2 did you download?Java(TM) Plug-in: Version 1.4.2_04
Using JRE version 1.4.2_04 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM
Have you searched the bug database? This one could be related to yours:
    http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=4673572
This sounds similar but the difference is its not just the app that feezes up (so that you could do an alt+ctrl+del and kill it)..... the OS freezes up and you can move the mouse around still the system even queu e is not full and eventuall all I hear is the beeping. At this point I've to power cycle.
Is there any way you could post the code or is it too big? Or, have you tried just creating a very small >application or applet that just shows one dialog, and if so, does that show the same problem? (What I'm >trying to get at here is - is it something in your code that is causing this, or something in the JRE, or >perhaps something to do with your machine's configuration/OS?)Unfortunately I cannot post the code ... its company rules and regulations. I've tried creating a very small app and it appears to work ok .... but randomly causes this freeze up. There is no definate pattern (except that it happens when you move around a JDialog or a JInternalFrame) . It could freeze up some time and work perfectly fine at other times. It has actually happened on other applications too (Netbeans, JEdit etc). That's why I suspect this might be a obscure bug in the JRE.
I'll try to find a pattern so that it can be re-produced by everyone.
    Thanks for the help.

  • Issue with JOptionPane.showInternalMessageDialog() in jre 1.4.2 and higher

I am using JOptionPane.showInternalMessageDialog() in my code. I have a screen with multiple tab panes that can be opened up. I have a screen which pops up the JOptionPane.showInternalMessageDialog() after completion of an action. In case I am viewing another screen at the point when the action completes on the previous screen, the JOptionPane.showInternalMessageDialog() causes a deadlock on the screens. I see that the issue wasnt there in jre 1.4.1, however the subsequent releases of jre shows up this issue.

I passed this information to our QA people.

  • HTML Converter vs. JRE 1.4.x and JRE 1.3.x

Had Netscape 6.1 and IE 5.0 and JRE 1.3.1 -- wrote applet
and used HTML Converter to convert the HTML page to use JRE 1.3.1
    plugin.
    Everything worked just fine...
Installed Netscape 7.02 and IE 6.0 and JRE 1.4.1.
Now the HTML pages that were converted don't work with NN7 anymore
because the page wants to load the 1.3.1 plugin. I get a message to
load the 1.3.1 plugin. When I got the latest JRE, it was 1.3.1_07.
I installed it and it still won't run because it doesn't install into
    NN7.
And now NN6 won't run the old page anymore because the 1.3.1_07 is the
    new default plugin.
Now NN7 and 1.4.x doesn't need converted HTML pages anymore but
I still have a bunch of old converted HTML pages. Do I have to
replace all my old converted HTML pages with plain vanilla pages now?
If so, WHY DID SUN LEAD ME DOWN THE GARDEN PATH WITH THE HTML CONVERTER?
    ARRGGGGHHHHHH!
Is there any way to get compatibility with the old converted HTML pages?
    Ken

I don't pretend to be able to resolve the problem here - you have too many variables in the problem. The best advice I can give is to research the Plugin Developer's Guide, as it discusses this stuff in intimate detail.

  • Jre 1.4.1_02 and jre 1.4.2_05

    Help,
I have one third party application requiring jre 1.4.1_02 plug-in and another third party application requiring jre 1.4.2_05 plug-in running on a Windows 2000 Professional PC. Is there any way to get the two JAVA plug-ins to work together without requiring a re-installation of either of the plug-in?

I think you can use JRE 1.4.2_05 instead of using both. JREs there is compatibility for both JRE. Try using only one ie 1.4.2_05.

  • JRE 1.4.2 and Safari

Does anyone have experience with an online expense tool known as Concur? It's a system used for submitting expense reimbursement requests that I believe is used by a number of companies. Concur Technologies is based in Redmond, WA but I don't think they are affiliated with Microsoft.
Until November 1, Concur required Microsoft's implementation of the Java Runtime Engine, which they called the Java Virtual Machine. Safari could not load these pages, even if I spoofed the system by changing the User Agent to MSIE. As I understand it, Microsoft is no longer supporting the Java Virtual Machine, so Concur now requires the Java Runtime Engine (JRE) 1.4.2.
So far this is good news for me, a Safari user, since Safari implements JRE 1.4.2. Since Concur utilizes a browser check, I set the User Agent to MSIE and the pages will load. However, the forms make extensive use of drop-down menus that are rendered so badly to be unusable.
At present I use something called Citrix Server, a really cool app which looks a Windows machine on my end, but requires extensive bandwidth.
I am using OS X 10.3.9 and Safari 312.3.1. I have read that Safari passes the acid2 test (which the OS X 10.3.9 version clearly doesn't). Is any of that related to how Java code is executed?
How likely is it that if I upgrade to OS X 10.4.x and its latest Safari version that I will be able to use Concur?

I think you can use JRE 1.4.2_05 instead of using both. JREs there is compatibility for both JRE. Try using only one ie 1.4.2_05.

  • Hanging problems with JRE 1.4.0 and Windows 2000

We have written a Java application which is an editor using Swing components. Most of us happily run it on Windows 2000 PCs with a decent PC spec of 512 Mb RAM and 1 Gb Processors and Java JDK 1.4.0 installed. However, other users with smaller spec PCs of 128 Mb RAM and 450 MHz processors and using only the Java Runtime Environment v1.4.0 keep making the application hang.
I've done plenty of debugging and investigation and am now convinced that this is not our application software that is causing the problems - the hangs are never consistent in their behaviour. I don't think that lack of memory is the problem either as it hangs with no other application running and it only uses a small amount itself.
So what could cause this problem ? Is there a significant difference between using the JDK and JRE ? Could it be PC spec ? Are there some config settings that I should check ?
Any help would be appreciated as the application has become unusable for our users when we seem to be having no problems at all !
    Sarah.

I have been tring to track down a similar problem for quite some time, with no luck as of yet. On 4 out of 6 machines running Windows 2000 Pro, any application that I write using any graphical component AWT or Swing, will hang at run time using JDK 1.4. I have no solution for you but I am hoping this message might spark some more advice.
