Tomcat server installation on Windows 98

hi,mine is P3 and I use Windows 98. I am trying to install tomcat server version 3.3.2, jdk version 1.4.
I have set the paths of JAVA_HOME, TOMCAT_HOME to the respective directories as follows
in the autoexec.bat file
set JAVA_HOME=c:\jdk1.4
set path=c:\jdk1.4\bin;c:\jdk1.4\lib
set TOMCAT_HOME=C:\jakarta-tomcat-3.3.2
set CLASSPATH=c:\jakarta-tomcat-3.3.2\lib\common\servlet.jar
When i run startup.bat file it displays a message saying "starting tomcat in new window", but in the new window, i get a display like this:
org.apache.tomcat.core.TomcatException: EmbededTomcat.initContextManager
at org.apache.tomcat.startup.EmbededTomcat.initContextManager(EmbededTom
cat.java:631)
at org.apache.tomcat.startup.EmbededTomcat.execute1(EmbededTomcat.java:7

at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(NativeMethodAccessorImpl.
java:30)
at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:306)
at org.apache.tomcat.util.IntrospectionUtils.execute(IntrospectionUtils.
java:52)
at org.apache.tomcat.startup.Main.execute(Main.java:272)
at org.apache.tomcat.startup.Main.main(Main.java:98)
and even more.... And that new window hangs. Pls help me to install tomcat server.

I only set Java_Home:
@echo off
set JAVA_HOME=c:\j2sdk1.4.2_01
if "%OS%" == "Windows_NT" setlocal
Thats the only line I added.
You shouldnt need the other stuff, I am using a later version than you though.
If I were you Id ditch your current version and get version 5.5 or whatever the latest stable release is.

The problem with J2EE is the support status of the used JDK. Sun does not support 1.4.2 under Vista/Windows 2008, technically it works.

  • SQL server installation on windows 8.1 never finished.

    Hi,
i hope someone can help me out.
I tried several different installations of SQL server management studio, express 2012 and  2014 on my windows 8.1 pro (64), but the installer never ends. I keeps telling me it is in progress on task "install setup files".
During install, I can wait for hours and finally i have to cancel the installation without success.
Does anyone have any idea how i can get a sql server and management studio installed on my pc ?
    Regards,
    Kurt

    Thx for the reply Ashwin.
The 110 / sql 2012 contains 2 dirs in the logfile. Probably because of the 2 recent installations i tried.

  • 64bit weblogic server installation on windows

    Hi,
We are trying to install 64bit Oracle weblogic Server 10.3.2 on windows 2007 Server. As per the documentation, The installation requires 64bit java installation and then execute the wl_1032_server.jar file.
We installed weblogic Server successfully and did not find any errors while installing the weblogic server. We created one Managed Server with the default options. We are able to start the Admin Server with out any problems.
But we are unable to start the managed weblogic server and we are getting the following error message while starting the managed webserver.
I have also tried with setting the following memory args also. But I am getting the same error in the managedserver log files.
    set MEM_ARGS=-Xms512m -Mmx1024m -MaxPermSize=512m

Can you please help us in configuring the 64bit weblogic server. Do we need to make any special configurations.
    Thanks and Regards,
    S R Prasad

    Thanks,
You are right and I've found a documentation below. Did you checked your Environment Variables or try to use full path of 64 bit Java installation?
How do I select between 32 and 64-bit operation? What's the default? The options -d32 and -d64 have been added to the Java launcher to specify whether the program is to be run in a 32 or 64-bit environment. On Solaris these correspond to the ILP32 and LP64 data models, respectively. Since Solaris has both a 32 and 64-bit J2SE implementation contained within the same installation of Java, you can specify either version. If neither -d32 nor -d64 is specified, the default is to run in a 32-bit environment.
Other Java commands (javac, javadoc, etc.) will rarely need to be executed in a 64-bit environment. However, the -d32/-d64 options may be passed to these commands and then on to the Java launcher using the established -J prefix option (eg: -J-d64).
All other platforms (Windows and Linux) contain separate 32 and 64-bit installation packages. If both packages are installed on a system, you select one or the other by adding the appropriate "bin" directory to your path. For consistency, the Java implementations on Linux accept the -d64 option.

    Kadir

  • SQL Server Installation on Windows 7 Professional sp 1

    Hi Everyone,
I have windows 7 professional sp1 installed on my pc.
I am planning to install SQL server 2008 on my pc.
As I am using sp1 os, I have to install SQL server 2008 sp1 also.
I have enabled .net framework 3.5, installed sql server 2008, and sql server 2008 sp1.
But when I tried to connect to server I am getting the below error.
The below is services state information.
Thanks and Regards, Readers please vote for my posts if the questions i asked are helpful.

I am getting an error like "this is used by another application" when I tried to delete the entries starting with "Microsoft.SqlServer".
Can you please help me on this.
    Hi G Srikar Reddy,
Please ensure that you have uninstalled  SQL Server 2008 instance and other SQL Server 2008 R2 components completely, and restart the computer.
Besides using the Windows Installer cleanup tool , you can also perform the following steps to uninstall
    SQL Server 2008 manually.
        a. Uninstall all SQL Server 2008 components ( including the entry "Support for SQL Server Setup") from the control panel.
        b. Backup the registry.
        c. Delete the following keys in regedit:
            --HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server
            --HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer
        d. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall and delete all the sub-keys referencing SQL Server.
        e. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services and delete all the keys referencing SQL Server.

  • Oracle database server Installation on windows

    Hello together,
We have several Oracle installation inhouse. All on different servers. Now we would to merge the Oracle database on one production and on one test server.
What is the best way to do that? We must decide between Windows and Linux Server.
On the windows Server we must use a Enterprise 64bit system to get i.e. 32 memory.?!! Is that right?
    Thanks in advance.

  • SQL Server installation on Windows 8

I am planning to buy a hybrid laptop/tablet device, to be specific – LENOVO IdeaPad Yoga 13 13.3" Touchscreen Ultrabook. This device comes with Windows 8 OS. It has so many things that are appealing to me. Now, my dilemma is that I’m not sure if it
is possible to install SQL Server 2008 (or above) on this device. Can someone please kindly help me understand if it is possible to install SQL Server 2008 and above on Windows 8 regardless whether it is Pro or not; or I need to get the Pro versions like Surface
Pro 2 or Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro?
    Many thanks,
    Mpumelelo

    Hi Mpumeleo S,
According to your description, you can install SQL Server on the Lenovo Yoga with Windows 8 Pro. And Surface Pro supports installing SQL server. You can only install Windows Store Apps on Windows RT, and the SQL Server Compact will never be made available
on that platform. Porting a .NET WPF app to Windows Store App is sadly not trivial. If your device comes with Windows RT, you’d better host the database elsewhere and access via REST or similar, or use SQLite.
For more information about Lenovo Yoga with Windows 8 Pro, you can review the following post.
    https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Idea-Windows-based-Tablets-and/Lenovo-Yoga-with-Windows-8-Pro-Office-2013-and-Visual-Studio/td-p/939305
You can check the requirements in the below link for installing SQL 2008.

    Hi,
Why don't you run a linux Virtual Machine on top of Windows 8?
If you want you can even download a VM with SOA Suite already installed from: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/soasuite/learnmore/vmsoa-172279.html

First of all have a look into this doc if you are a beginner. It would give a an overview of all the peoplesoft components and the order in which they are installed. After you have read it thoroughly, you would find yourself standing somewhere towards the peoplesoft installation.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E26530_01/psft/acrobat/PeopleTools_8.52_GettingStartedPeopleSoftInstallation.pdf|http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E26530_01/psft/acrobat/PeopleTools_8.52_GettingStartedPeopleSoftInstallation.pdf
After that, just download Oracle virtualbox https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads and Microsoft windows server 2008 R2 http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/dd459137.aspx . and then,
Install Oracle virtualbox on you windows 7, create a virtual machine(Follow the virtual box documentation).
Install Windows server 2008 R2 on that virtual machine.
Now you have perfect environments for your peoplesoft installation.

  • Sun Java System Application Server installation location on windows

    Hi there...
I'm just doing the "Your First Cup: An Introduction to the Java EE Platform" tutorial for the first time. I'm trying to add the Sun Java System Application Server in NetBeans IDE. It's asking me to select the Platform Location, and I have no idea where that is. No help instructions I've found say where it normally gets installed, and I've found now mention of it on the web.
Can anyone tell me the location where this is supposed to be located? I HAVE installed the Java EE SDK 5 for Windows. The location it offers as a default is "C:\Program Files\glassfish-v2ur2\", but there is a red message at the bottom of the dialog that reads "Provide a valid Application Server Installation Location for 'Sun Java System App...". The Register Local Default Domain drop-down box has not options to select, either.
I would try and search some more, but I just don't know what to search for. If anyone can offer any insight into this, I appreciate it.
    Thanks a ton!!!

I`ve posted a shorter version of the question in the hopes of getting a timely answer. Thanks

  • Crystal Reports Server 2008 V1 installation on Windows Server 2008

    Hello,
I am trying to install CRS2008V1 on Windows Server 2008 x64 with SQL Server 2008 and IIS 7.0. Installation wizard says that installation is finished succesfull but I cannot access CMC Console and InfoView. Is there anything which shuld be done more? CRS2008 installation on Windows 2003 was trouble free. I'm very confused now... Anyone can help me?
    Regards,
    Seb.

I had similar issues.  My resolution was...
    - In IIS Manager, create a new Application Pool called "Classic .NET AppPool"
    - For that app pool, set the managed pipeline mode to "Classic"
    - with that new app pool selected, click on View Applications in the right-hand panel
    - make sure that you see all of the Business Objects applications listed, if not...
         - click the Remove Filter link in the top panel
         - open each Business Objects related application and assign it to the new app pool
You may need to do an iisreset at that point, but that cleared up the issue for me.

  • Problem in installation tomcat server 4.1

    Hi everybody,
I am not sure if i have entered the correct forum for highlighting problems of Tomcat server 4.1, but anyway I need an answer.
My system is running on win 98.
I downloaded the zip version from apache.org and created the java_home and catalina_home path in the autoexec.bat.
When I am running the startup.bat file, it gives me some output in one window like :
         using catalina_base=d:\apache\tomcat
         using catalina_home=d:\apache\tomcat
         using catalina_tmpdir=d:\apache\tomcat\temp
         using java_home=c:\jdk1.2
The name of this window is Finished-startup.
After running this bat another window gets fired, with the heading as java, and this window vanishes immediately. I need some ideas as to what should be done.
Just to remind, I have jdk1.2 on my system. Do I have to upgrade to jdk 1.4. Does Tomcat 4.1 need the latest version of jdk.
    Thanks n regards,
    Sajiv, Chennai, India.

    hi,
set java_home to java_home=c:\jdk1.2\ .I had this problem with windows XP, the window loads and vanishes. the '\' has set my problem. you can try.

  • Server Hardening Issues in Distributed Installation on Windows

    Hello,
We are installing SAP CE 7.1 in a Distributed Installation on Windows. SCS and App Server on one HOST and DB (Oracle) on another host. There is a firewall between DMZ and App Server. There is a second firewall between App and DB Server
Our Network Security Team has done server hardening there by blocking all ports. Due to this we are running into following issues:
    1. We installed SCS. But when we want to install DB, it needs the UNC path for SAPMNT. Our network team is saying they will not allow to share any folders between App and DB and we should tell them some other alternative. I want to know if something else is possible here provided this is a Windows Environment
    2. They are asking about all the ports that they will need to open on the firewall for SAP CE to access DB and Web Server in DMZ to access SAP CE
If the experts can provide some inputs in this areas that will be really helpful.
    Regards,
    Shubham

    Hi Shubham,
    >> If you can let me know some details about the NFS Solution, that will be of great help. Our network security team does not understand how SAP Works and from my discussion with them I can say they don't want to. Since its a bit urgent I am looking for some alternatives as the fight to get this done might take more than a month otherwise
This is very bad Anyway, regarding your installation, if you are not planning to install a dialog instance on the DB host and keep your CE installation on the same host, you can turn off the windows sharing safely on the firewall. By doing so, the system will access its shares internally and don't need to share SAPMNT and SAPLOC. Under this circumstance, you don't need to run on a NFS server or a same solution like this. By the way, what about your object transport strategy? Are you planning to use CTS+?
    >> For the firewall ports, My understanding is that in the Firewall between Web Server in DMZ and App Server, I need to open port 50000. Similarly in the firewall between App Server and DB Server, I need to open port 1521 for my application to access DB. But I dont know if CE will also speak to DB on port 1521 or some other port. Are there any other ports that need to be opened?
It is enough to open Oracle listener port (1521 standard port) and J2EE server HTTP port (50000) in order to run on CE, because of the system is standing on pure Java stack. What about the telnet access to the J2EE server? If you need to telnet support, you should 50008, also. But, you know that if you are planning to add an dialog instance you need to open more ports such as message server, P4, etc...
