I have had elements 10 for a long time but recently the scroll bar for the fonts has disappeared. any ideas?

First try resetting the tool by clicking the tiny arrow at the far left end of the options bar and choosing reset tool.
But you should be able to use the arrow keys to navigate through the fonts, too.

Try pressing the F key. You probably pressed it by mistake at some point, which would put you into one of the Full Screen modes. The F key is the same as clicking the Screen Mode icon in the toolbar or choosing one of the View > Screen Mode options.

• Side Bar with Favorites and history disappeared, Cabn not find themanymore inspite that they are marked

Side Bar with either favorites or history is no longer visible. Even when they are marked in 5beeld) - picture they do not show up

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
* Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
* Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

In Firefox 3.6 on Windows you can hide the menu bar via "View > Toolbars" or via the right click context menu on a toolbar.
Press and hold the Alt key down to bring up the menu bar.
Go to "View > Toolbars" or right-click the menu bar or press Alt+V T to select which toolbars to show or hide.

• My yahoo toolbar add in disappears each time I open firefox, requiring me to install the tool bar with each session. Would you know what might be causing this?

I have always used the yahoo toolbar to store my bookmarks. I recently had my computer serviced for an network problem I was experiencing, and since its return to to I have found that I must install the yahoo toolbar each time I open firefox. The toolbar does not stay for subsequent sessions like it had in the past. Is there a setting or problem that may be causing this?

You can check for recently installed suspicious or unknown extensions.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

• The tool bar with Firefox settings (0ptions, etc) disappeared. How to fix this?

Perhaps its a virus problem. Firefox no longer shows its toolbar, even after I download a new version. Only a black space appears where it used to be. I can't change security or history settings, or others. Any ideas how to fix this?

* In Firefox 3.6 versions on Windows and Firefox 4 on Windows and Linux it's possible to hide the "Menu Bar" via "View > Toolbars" or via the right-click context menu of a toolbar.
* Press F10 or press and hold the Alt key down to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily.
* Go to "View > Toolbars" or right-click the "Menu Bar" or press Alt+V T to select which toolbars to show or hide (click on an entry to toggle the state).

• How do I turn off the automatic full screen feature that makes the top bar (with the minimize buttons) disappear?

I just downloaded Firefox 4 on a Dell laptop with WinXP. When I'm in a browser window the window resizes automatically and the bar at the top (with the minimize, full and close buttons) disappears. When I drag the cursor up to the top the window resizes again and that top bar appears. Makes me crazy. How do I turn it off?

I'm not aware of the behavior you're describing. I've never seen it, and just tested it for myself. I cannot get windows to zoom to full screen just from moving them to or along the top of the screen. Is this only happening in Photoshop? If so, it may be a Photoshop issue. If not, have you installed any kind of third-party software that might be doing that? Try rebooting in safe mode and see if the problem persists then. If it doesn't, but comes back when you reboot normally, the problem is caused by some third-party software you have installed.

• My external HD with TM backup has disappeared

I have a 1TB Titanium Green external hooked up to my Mac Mini with an 800 Firewire cable. It has two partitions, one containing the TM backup of my Mavericks system and the other containing a spare Mavericks startup disc and other vital files. Both have suddenly disappeared from my desktop, do not show up in the finder or disc utility, have simply vanished. Anyone else have this problem and is there any solution?

Well, if the drive is audibly spinning up and whirring away, it is likely intact and working.
I noticed on my Sister's iMac that her FW-800 port on the iMac is very loose, and the cable actually falls out of alignment with its pins, thanks to Earth's gravity. Indeed. Not kidding. So, I bonded the cable in place with some caulking. Ghastly, I know, but she can back-up reliably now.
Another thing, Cables can in fact fail. It's a fact. Do you have another FW-800 cable kicking about, or does the drive have a USB port or FW400 on is back plane, that you can attach to the Mini differently?
Last but not least, did this Titanium drive come with its own software suite? If you installed it, uninstall the suite and/or driver. Western Digital drives are known for their suite to actually destroy the drive on Mavericks. Check System Preferences, Users & Groups control panel, and then the 'Login Items' button tab at top, and hit the '-' minus sign to get rid of any drive software that's loading on start-up -- any number of recent Mac OS X Updates could have rendered this incompatible.
Best,
- Neil.
