Toolbar Button Icons

Hello Forum,
When I create my toolbar with icons and click on the icon, it changes to the pushed state, this is done automatically. When I release the button it returns to normal. Is there a way to make the button stay down automatically until another button is pressed? Don't want to use another image.

You want to use the JToggleButton and ButtonGroup classes.

So how do I REALLY get the toolbar buttons to just show icons (and not text)?

On my Bookmarks toolbar, my bookmarks "buttons" show icon AND text. I just want to show icon, not text. When I go right-click.....customize, the window "customize toolbars" opens. Down in the bottom left corner the "show" option dropdown is already set to "icons" (and only icons). But it's just not so. The toolbar buttons show icons AND text. If I cycle through that dropdown just for kicks, it doesn't change; I can choose "icons (only)" all day long, but the toolbar buttons still show text.

Either of the following Add-ons allow you to show icons only and/or to have multiple rows on the Bookmarks Toolbar. Set the options on either after installation.

Why are my header icons and toolbar buttons grayed out?

I purchased a used Macbook Pro from ebay. Appeared to be in good working order when I first started working with it, but I have updated from OS X 10.9.2 to 10.9.5 and downloaded Open Office program, set up my mail and went through the system preferences and personalized it. Also ran disk utilities. Then, this AM, when I restarted, the header icons on the right side are grayed out except for the battery %, the date and time and notifications. Also, in mail and safari, the toolbar buttons are blank (forward, back, print, mail, bookmarks, autofil, history and downloads). What happened? I went to the disk utility from the recovery partition (repaired disk and disk permissions). I also reset parameters. Don't know what to do next. Not sure if this is a hardware or software problem, but I am assuming it is software (OS X) related at this point. Please help.

How to trace toolbar find button icon pressed or click?

Hi Experts,
I am not able to trace the event "toolbar find button icon pressed or click" for my UDO generator form.
My problem:
i hv a UDO generator form, in which i hv taken a picturebox. when i add picture or update picture it is added or updated successfully. but when i click on the find button of toolbar menu of sbo, then the picturebox should be blank ie. there should be no picture shown in picturebox. but, in my form the picture is not disappearing.
Please help me out.

How do I set my bookmark toolbar to text and all other toolbars to icons?

It seems I can change all toolbars to either be text or icons. I want the look of Firefox 3. In Firefox 3 the bookmarks toolbar was text only wile the navigation toolbar was icons. I can't figure out how to have my Back/Forward/Home buttons be icons with my Bookmarks in the toolbar be text only.

Toolbar buttons are not in color

I use Thunderbird (latest versions) on a windows 7 dekstop computer and on a linux mint 17 laptop. On the linux desktop the toolbar buttons all have nice colors. On my windows 7 computer the toolbar buttons are just in black, see the screenshot.
Is this the normal way of showing the toolbar buttons in windows 7?

I was mystified as to why the button icons (for Send, Attach, etc) were suddenly missing from my "new message" email windows. The text descriptions were still there, so i could use the functions, but they were in tiny text, more difficult to click on. Trying to drag the icons back on from the view/customize toolbar menus (as was suggested in prior discussions i found here here) did not work.
Then i noticed a drop-down menu called "Show" in the bottom left of the View> Customize Toolbar window (opened directly from a New Message window). It toggles whether you see Text Only, Icons and Text, or Icons Only. Mine was somehow set to Text Only. Just toggling it to Text and Icons brought my buttons back.
I don't know how that preference got changed- i didn't do it, and no one else has access to my Mac- and it looks from Discussions like this has happened to others, and only while in New Message (a glitch?).
This is the simple but not immediately apparent fix.

Thanks Bernd: I am using Adobe Acrobat 10 Pro. I did get a response from Dave Marchant which directed me how to find the layers icon and I found the options icon as suggested in Adobe Help. However, the options do not allow me to choose an option of either merging layers or flattening layers. I am a novice at this and am trying to get this 1-page pdf graphic to convert to a Word document. Is it possible that I already have a single layer pdf and that Word is doing something weird during the conversion? I tried to convert the document yesterday and I ended up with two pages in Word. One page had the text boxes and one had the river channels on which the text boxes had been inserted. This is not a document I created. We have been struggling for 5 years at various times to get this one page document into Word so that it can be used in multiple reports. Even the graphics departments at a couple of companies have not been able to get this document resized from the original 11 x 17 format into 8.5 x 11. I managed to get that done yesterday. But now can't get a useable version into Word. Suggestions?

Where is hide/show toolbar button?

Hello all,
I have purchased Aperture as a retail package, and I am running Snow Leopard. I have a "hide/show Toolbar" button in the upper left of the title bar, as indicated in the included screenshot.
I used Aperture on a friend's machine, and he does not have the oblong "hide/show toolbar" button. His OS is Lion with Aperture installed from the Mac Store.
Does anyone have any ideas about why he would not have this convenient button, while I do?

if you want a button in the toolbar to toggle it on and of, you could do the following:
Create an AppleScript to toggle the Toolbar on and off
Save the script as an application
Assign a nice icon to it, just like the drop of toothpaste, the button used to look like
Drag the Apple Script to your Finder toolbar
This AppleScript seems to toggle the toolbar - I have not done much testing so far:

The only problem is, you can easily hide the toolbar this way, but once the toolbar is hidden, you cannot turn it on again, since the button now is hidden , so you may wish to put a link to the script in the Dock as well

Delphi and Toolbar Buttons

I just wrote a C3PO with Dephi 2010. Extending the Tools Menu for my function was easy, but I'm still trying to add a toolbar button.
Here is a snip from the code:

I've found the solution by myself: You have to include a BITMAP, not an ICON. Including a BITMAP ressource in Delphi 2010 is quite easy: just add it to your project.

Flashy toolbar button

Hi,
In my toolbar each button have "Plain" style and an icon. When I press it, it suddenly shows this white flashy animation to indicate to the user that the button was selected. Anyone know how I can start that affect programmingly?

Ok I found it. You have to make the background of your image red. This is
somehow used as a transparent colour in GW 7.

Weird full screen toolbar button

The toolbar button "Full Screen" is showing a huge image, kind of like an icon library. It looks evil I would like to change it, please!

You may have an incompatible theme (Tools > Add-ons > Themes) that doesn't know the full screen button.
Try the Default theme.

When will sync support toolbar buttons/ordering?

I've noticed that, while both old and new Firefox sync systems can put the same add-ons into each copy of the browser, their toolbar icons are always in different places. This doesn't help me to use Firefox as each time I sit at another machine with the same sync profile, I have to hunt the toolbar buttons!
I read in another question from 2011 that sync didn't then do anything about toolbars; is this feature still coming?

I have not heard any announcements on this feature yet. I currently do not have an available date for this feature either. Apologies for the inconvenience.
Add ons are currently synced and should be the same unless the profile is different on each computer. It would be if it is "defined by whitelisted prefs"

Toolbar button sizing

Is there a way to resize the toolbar icon button? I'd like to make them a bit smaller.

Select View: Toolbars: Button Labels: No Labels
That will hide the text and make the buttons smaller.

Toolbar button disappeared

I'm trying to help a family member with their iMac over the phone. She said that her forward/back toolbar button has disappeared. I attempted to walk her through adding this button from the customize toolbar selection but when she drags the icon over to the toolbar it does not stick. Any suggestions? She has a flat panel iMac running Tiger OS.

Are you referring to a Finder window?
If so, try deleting this file. com.apple.finder.plist
/Users/YourName/Library/Preferences. Drag that file from the Preferences folder to the Trash, empty the Trash and restart the iMac.
