Tools samiliar as SQL Server Profiler on SQL Server

Dear Forum,
Is there the tools that samiliar as SQL Server Profiler usually using on SQL Server ? SQL Server Profiler capable of all running query on database. Or do you know the syntax query for it ?

I don't know exactly what SQL Server Profiler does, but SQL Developer had Explain Plan and SQL Trace functionality. Oracle enterprise manager has various options for tracing and profiling sessions, or the entire database.

  • Terminal Server profiles path between Server 2008

My existing Citrix farm has published desktops on Server 2008 x86 SP1, and the new farm I'm building is based on Server 2008 R2 x64. I can't get the x64 servers to use the same path as the x86 servers, despite having the same GPO's.
Both have the same GPO linked: under Computer Configuration/Policies/Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Remote Desktop Session Host/Profiles, the path is set to \\server\share\%username%.
When a user who doesn't have a profile logs in to a Server 2008 x86 server, after they log out their profile is uploaded to the share as \\server\share\username.V2. When a user logs into Server 2008 R2, it doesn't pull their username.V2 profile and instead
creates a new one as \\server\share\username\username.domain.V2.
Please help me get the x64 R2 servers to use the existing TS profiles.

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Set up RD Session Host roaming profile path
Roaming profiles should be configured separately for each RD session farm. They should not be shared between farms or user’s physical desktops since profile corruption and data loss may occur if a user is simultaneously logged into two machines that load the
    same user profile.
Configure the following Group Policy on the RD Session Host:
Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Remote Desktop Services -> Remote Desktop Session Host -> Profiles ->
Set path for Remote Desktop Services Roaming Profiles

  • Forcing server profile over local profile

I have a user on in my office; he uses a laptop for all his work. How do I get him to log onto the server as a mobile user [I have already successfully setup other mobile accounts]?
His server profile has the same username and password as the profile on the on his laptop. When he logs on to his laptop it always picks up his local profile, I need it to pick up the server profile so the server can sync his home folder with the server profile.
    Thanks for any help offered,
    Paul

    Hi Paul,
You will need to delete the local account on his computer. This will force home to use the networked Open Directory account. make suer you have a good backup of his data first.
The way I do this is:
    1. delete local account, creating archive of user data
    2. move archive to users/shared
    3. login using user's network account
    4. copy user data from users/shared/user_archive.img
NB> copy the contents of Library, rather than the folder itself
    5. Log out
    6. Login again as user
    7. use System Prefs > accounts to change user's password.

  • Install BI Tools with paid VS2008 Pro in workstation and paid Sql Server 2008 R2 in server?

My workstation has VS2008 Pro (paid) and Sql Express (free); our Windows Enterprise server has SQL Server 2008 R2 RTM (paid).
In other words, my workstation may not have a paid version of the sql server DB, but our server does. Is there a possibility that I can install the BI development tools in my workstation?
    Thanks.

    Hi VM,
As you can see on the link below
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc645993(v=sql.105).aspx#Dev_tools
The Business Intelligence Development Studio is not available on SQL Server 2008 Express Edition. So if you want to the BIDS tool is available on your workstation, then you need to change the edition from Express to other edition.
Besides, you can install SQL Server Data Tools - Business Intelligence for Visual Studio 2012 on your workstation, in this case, the BI development tools is available on your workstation. The SQL Server Data Tools - Business Intelligence for Visual Studio
2012 is available on the link below.

  • SQL query runs too many times in SQL server Profiler

    Hi Experts
I have designed a report using SQL database.Report is based on Add Command Object, View and Table.Which are link and gives desired output.
However it takes long time. In the SQL Sever profiler it shows that query is executing too many times.
When in the Add Command object I edit the query Say I write TOP 5000 then it executes once however if I write Add 5001 then I face the same behavior.
I have checked "Grouping on server" option in options.
    Please Advice.
    Regards
    Asha.

    Thanks Raghavendra for reply
How adding group will help? I have to link this command objects with view and table. Also  When I add "TOP 5000" in add command query it executes only 1 time in SQL query Profiler hower if edit that query to "TOP 5001" then it again it executes several time which is impacting the performance.
    Please advice?

  • SQL Server Profiler does not capture cube processing queries against the relational database

    Hello, experts,
This my first attempt to use SQL Server Profiler to find out why my cube processing is so slow. Here is what I did:
My cube sources its data from a SQL Server database. While the cube processing is going, I launched the profiler connecting to the database engine (note: not the Analysis Services). I  choose the "Tuning" template and started the trace. However,
I do not see any query activities (such as, SELECT DISTINCT ...) in the profiler trace window.
Did I do something wrong, or do I have the wrong expectation?
    Thank you much in advance.

    Hi QQFA,
    Agree with Olaf.
Please make sure that you choose the appropriate events to monitor the cube processing queries when using SQL Server Profiler.
And I recommend you review the following links to get more information about tuning Analysis Services with SQL Profiler.

  • SQL SERVER 2014 Developer - SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) - Tools in Toolbox are disabled because of bad path to DTS

    Hello all,
after populating the Toolbox of SSMS  with the "Maintenance Plan Tasks" all task are disabled. The reason is simple a bad path to the DTS modules. The path in the Toolbox points to ...\DTSTasks\... Installation has created a path of ...\DTS\Tasks\...
This is clearly a bug. But perhaps there is a workaround by changing something in the configuration. Any idea where to look for the responsible configuration file?
    Regards Uwe

    Hi Uwe,
Based on my research, just as you said, the path of Maintenance Tasks in the Choose Toolbox Items dialog box points to ...\DTSTasks\..., but the actual path is...\DTS\Tasks\....I can reproduce the issue in my SQL Server 2014, SQL Server 2012 and SQL Server
2008 R2 environments. It seems that this is a known issue. But the issue doesn’t affect the use of maintenance tasks, we can still drag the tasks to design the maintenance plan.
If you have concern about this issue, it is my pleasure to help you to reflect your recommendation to the proper department for their consideration. Please feel free to submit your situation on our product to the following link
https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/. Your feedback is valuable for us to improve our products and increase the level of service provided.
As to the issue that all tasks are disabled in the Toolbox of "Maintenance Plan Tasks", please make sure that you have selected the tasks in the Choose Toolbox Items dialog box. Then double-click the task in Toolbox pane or drag the task to maintenance
    design tab.

  • Profiling PL/SQL?

I'm looking to profile my PL/SQL code. I have N-app servers connecting to a single Oracle instance, and I would like to track how often certain procedures and functions are called in this instance, how much total time is spent in each procedure, etc. Even better would be line by line profiling, giving number of execs and time spent for each line or block.
I haven't found anything like this on the web. Most "profiling" tools out there (within TOAD and PL/SQL Developer) only profile within the context of their IDE and thus are only relevant for test scripts. Profiling real time app server usage of PL/SQL seems lacking. Something analogous to how HPROF profiles a JVM's code execution (through Byte Code Injection) is what I'm looking for.
    Anyone have any ideas?

In terms of memory usage details, the profiler is not designed for this. As you stated, it gives only timings. That's always been enough for me to debug my PL/SQL. When a PL/SQL program is too slow, I just want to speed it up, and don't really care about the memory usage. If you want memory details, trace your session (or use event 10046, for even more details). But that would give you feedback only about SQL statements memory usage, and not by PL/SQL line or procedure.
    Just my opinion

  • PL/SQL Hierarchical Profiler: plshprof  output - meaning of Ind% column

    Hi,
During analysis of an PL/SQL Performance issue I started using the DBMS_HPROF Profiler, but could not find a good source of information about interpreting the out html-files.
I went through the Database advanced Application Developers Guide chapter: "Using the PL/SQL Hierarchical Profiler" which has a small section explaining the html output generated by this tool.
I'm aware of the possibility of using the analyze function for populating the DBMSHP_* Tables, but I would like also to use the html output too.
Unfortunately there is no explanation about the Ind% column in the various html pages in the documentation. Searching the internet didn't bring up much information either.
    for example:
Function Elapsed Time (microsecs) Data sorted by Total Subtree Elapsed Time (microsecs)

  • SQL 2005 will not connect in SQL 2012 profiler

We have a few SQL 2005 databases that we manage. I went to do a trace on them(recently upgraded to 2012) and it gives me the error, "SQL Server Native Client 11.0 does not support connections to SQL Server 2000 and earlier versions".
According to MSDN it does.  https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc280356(v=SQL.110).aspx

Any clue why it wouldn't let me connect?

  • Connect SQL Server 2012 from Windows Server 2003 with native client 9.0

    Hi,
I currently have a setup where ETL tool Ab Intio, running on a Linux server, connects to the SQL Server 2005 through a passthrough Wintel server with Windows Server 2003 OS using SQL server native client 9.0
Now I have the requirement to upgrade the SQL server from 2005 to 2012.
My question is, will it be possible to connect to SQL server 2012 through Windows Server 2003 with native client 9.0?
As per the specs, I need native client 11.0+ to fully support SQL Server 2012, but then, as per specs, native client 11.0 doesnot run on Windows server 2003. OS upgradation is currently not on the cards.
So will it be possible to the run the basic queries we use currently, if we can connect SQL server 2012 through Windows Server 2003 with native client 9.0/10.0, without updgrading the OS of the Wintel server?
    Thanking you in advance!

    Hi Soumya,
Yes, you can use the SQL Server Native Client shipped with SQL Server 2005 to connect to a SQL Server 2012 instance, and there is no need to upgrade the operating system.

11.2 is beta at the moment. There is no official release date so far.
As DG4ODBC is independant from the Oracle database (or the target database) you can use a 3 machine model:
On the first machine you have your Oracle database, on a second machine running 32bit Windows you can install DG4ODBC and on the 3rd machine you can run your foreign database.
If the SQL Server 2k is installed on a 32bit Windows machine, then you can also install DG4ODBC on this machine.
In general the connection from an Oracle database to the DG4ODBC machine is done using SDQL*Net. The listener responsible for DG4ODBC will then load the DG4ODBC executable which will connect to the SQL Server using SQL Server ODBC driver.
