Top 10 Pie Chart in Webi 3.1 with "Others"

Hi,
I need to implement a Pie Chart in Web Intelligence 3.1., which must show the sales values only for the Top 10 countries with the highest number of sales.
However there is an extra requirement: I must include the option "Others" including the other countries (from 11th to the last).
I've been searching but I have not found any solution. Does anyone know the way to achieve this requirement? Using a Pie Chart is mandatory.

How to show negative value in Pie Chart from Webi?

I have below example data, I want to convert this to a pie chart in Web Intelligence, my problem is after I convert it to a pie chart, the revenue '-30' is shown as '30', looks like the pie chart is not suppor the negative value to show, I want to know if there is any workaround or solution to make the pie chart to show the negative value? Is this behavior is by design? do we have any official document to explain this?
The product I used is BOE XI 3.1 SP3.

Why are you showing this information as a pie chart? It doesn't make sense to try and display a negative slice in a pie chart. I can't really think of a logical way to try and draw a negative slice in a pie chart. With a pie chart you will need all your information to either all be positive or all negative, otherwise it doesn't work.
What you need is to have a bar chart, with positive and negative values on the y axis.

Add 1 more Query with dimension that will have values
Completed      Or      X
Remaining      Or      Y
Duplicate your Query And Keep only 1 Dimension [Extra_Dim]( Remember this Dim Name you have to use it in different way so it would be better if use any Dimension which is not there in First Query )
Go To--> View Script --> Custom SQL
write below code in Query Script Editor
SELECT
'Completed' As "CATEGORY"
FROM
"YOUR_TABLE" Table__1
Union

'Remaining' As "CATEGORY"

And Save this Query .
Now Rename this Query as Pie Dimension .

Some chart types cannot be combined with other chart types

Good morning,
I am working on a MacBook Air (purchased Oct 2009) running Lion. While working in Excel 2011, I encounter the error "Some chart types cannot be combined with other chart types. Please select a different chart type." I am highlighting 46 cells to create a marked line graph. There are no other charts in the file. I called Microsoft support who told me they had not heard of this problem in Excel (only in PowerPoint). I also took it to an Apple Store Genius, who was unable to solve the problem, which is understandable, given that he does not work for Microsoft.
To try to resolve this issue, I have recopied the data to a new spreadsheet, re-typed all the data to a new spreadsheet, and deleted plist files. When I sent it to a different computer (which was running Excel 2011 and Snow Leopard), I could make the figure but I cannot edit the figure or add data on my laptop.
Any suggestions that you have would be much appreciated,

Hi, folks.
Apparently, when using Excel 2011 and running Lion, if the tab names in excel contain a period (.), this error occurs. I removed the periods and now I can graph again. I hope this helps anyone else who may experience this problem.

Pie Chart in WEBI is Grey color

Hi All,
As part of my project requirement I need to develop a WebI report with Table and Pie chart.I selected the pie chart, intially it was in grey color and assigned the data to chart .When I tried to change the color of the chart it is not displaying colors.Please suggest me how to change the color of pie chart.
As I gone through the posts in the SDN couldn't found much relevant information.

Pie Chart -- legend texts are cut (with "...")

Hello Experts,
when I*m using pie charts with displaying the legend, longer texts are cut (e.g.: "220/35V 60W yellow...")
What can I do to show the complete text?

the cuts are due to the size of the pie chart. you can resize your pie chart for the legends to show properly.

If it is a USB powered external, no AC adpater, that may be the reason. Mac notebooks are known to have low powered USB ports. You can get around that with a Y USB cable to connect to 2 USB ports at the same time.

Web Start running with other applications

I've been doing some research on Web Start and I was just wondering if someone could give me some clarity on a couple of questions.
1. If two applications require two different JREs (1.4 and 1.3) is it possible to run them simultaneously?
a. Both applictions running on Web Start simultaneously
Now I know you can specify a certain JRE to a certain product by specifying the href in the JNLP file ... will this solve that issue? Or am I going to need two seperate JVMs going through IE somehow (read a suggestion from another thread about using two JVMs)?
b. One running on Web Start and one not running on Web Start simultaneously
eg. If I open one application with web start (uses 1.4) and later try to open another application that requires another certain JRE (uses 1.3) to run that isn't using web start (eg. an .exe file) (or vice versa) ... what will I need to do ... (seperate JVMs ... or is it not possible?)
2. Also ... I've read a thread that when you use Web Start it doesn't make the JRE the default of the OS ... is this true?
I would appreciate any help with these questions ... thanks ahead of time.

The short answer to both of your questions is yes.
You can run two apps on the same box with different JREs , this is specified in the JNLP file with the j2se element in the file.

Also this will not affect any other JREs you have installed on your system, i.e. it doesnt screw up any of your path or classpath variables in the registry, the directory for the jre bin where javaws is at is determined at runtime from a cached version of your jnlp file.

Drill Down feature for pie chart in Java

Hi,
I have a JSP where the graph displayed should have �Drill Down� functionality i.e. when clicked on any sector of Pie chart it should come up with other graph giving more details.
I need the code or how to proceed to get drill down feature.

You have to generate the image and the surrounding HTML using two seperate transactions; typically a JSP delivers the HTML and a servlet, invoked by the SRC URL of an image tag, provides an image.
Your HTML contains a form, and the image is displayed using a <Input type="image" .. Clicking on that submits the forn, providing X and Y coordinates as parameters to a servlet which can calculate which pie-slice has been clicked. You can't use a client-side image map because there are no suitable sensitive shapes available.

SBOP 4.0 Web Intelligence (Question regarding Pie Charts)

Hi Everyone,
I am having a strange issue with Pie Charts in Webi 4.0 version.
I have a webi report migrated from 3.1 version to 4.0 and I see that the Webi report in 3.1 version shows an empty Pie chart when the metrics for that chart are zero's where as the same Webi report in 4.0 does not show any thing.
My requirement is to show atleast a plane empty pie chart when the metrics for that chart are zeros. I could not see any option in Webi 4.0 to help me achieve that, also I don't see any option in 3.1 version that is allowing it to show an empty pie chart but still it is showing empty pie chart. So I am not sure if this a bug in Webi 4.0 or if I am missing any setting.
Please let me know if anyone had this issue and resolved it. Any comments will be greatly appreciated.

On XI 3.x, I believe the default appearance settings are governed by an XML file (defaultConfig) and can be changed, if you know what you're doing.
In my installation, the path is:
(INSTALLDIR)...\Business Objects\Tomcat55\webapps\AnalyticalReporting\webiApplet\AppletConfig\defaultConfig.xml

Can't comment on 4.x though, it may well have changed completely....IIRC it's all CSS based now isn't it?

How can I create a Pie charts ?

I'm a beginner in java and i'm investigate in a web project (website) which should display statistical charts. I did a beans to generate basic bar charts, but it is most difficult to build a Pie chart. That's why i need help to put me on the rigth way to build Pie Charts beans (this pie charts should be filled up with db query).

I take it you constructed the bar graphs using html and images together?
Obviously it's a little more difficult to make a pie chart with html. Chances are that it will have to be an image rendered by a Servlet or JSP. I suggest looking at how to create images using AWT or swing. This will allow you to create a circle with different color slices and what not. Then you need a Servlet or JSP that will send the image out the output stream. You can then place an image tag in your html page like this <img src="http://myserver.com/PieChartServlet>
I'm actually working on an API myself that will render pretty histograms (line graphs), and hopefully pie charts down the road. It's going to be an open source project. I decided to make my own API when I looked at some others out there who were charging an arm and a leg for theirs. Chart Builder for example, it's like $6K for their java based API <choke>.

1)
Add 2 Pie charts in your Report (Align top
& Left Same Size ) .
Set Background Color Transparency 0%
Set Data Value Presentation value for 1 st (Outside)
Percent for 2nd (Inside)
Make size of the pie as per the value presentation .

Hi Vinay,
          Following are the steps to be followed.
                  1. Add the Business Graphics(BG) UI Element in the view.
                  2. Change the chart type to pie
                  3. Rite click on the BG UI and add catergory and series(simpleseries).
                  4. Bind the category with the company code and series with the values.
                  5. If u like the customize the BG, rite click and 'Edit customization' which will create a MIME Xml file.

Pie Chart: How to capture data pertianing to the section whereUser clicked

In the UI there is a 1) Pie chart and a 2) table with search fields below the pie chart both displaying related information.
we have a requirement to allow the user to click on various sections of the pie chart lets say it has two sections 1) one showing number of people with insurance as 75% and 2) another people without insurance as 25%. when the user clicks on the area representing 75% then the search fields related to the table should be automatically populated with the data related to that region of the pie chart (75%) lets say if there is drop down that allows the user to search for people "with" and "without" insurance then it should be set to "with insurance" since the user had clicked the area in the pie chart that pertains to percentage of people with insurance. basically, looking for some examples that would help us find out how to implement this feature since new to ADF?
